3. Closer to human itself is the issue of medicine. Modern
medicine, Islamic medicine, homeopathy and traditional medicine
need not be in conflict with one another. This is the core message of
writers of this topic. The principle is simple, Allah has given cure to
allillnessanditisformantosearchandapplythebestcurethathas

4. OBJECTIVE
To study that
Islamic medicine is
an universal and
should be
acceptable to all
To prove that Islamic
medicine is
irrespective of
geographical localities
and cultural or
religious background
To find out the effectiveness of
Islamic medicine and remembered
that it is not a therapeutic regime or
procedures but rather a concept,
value, paradigm, guided and does
not contradict the teaching of Al-
Quran and Hadith
To prove that Islamic
medicine is felexible,
universal, all embracing
with room for growth
and development for the
future
5. Modernmedicalpracticeisbecomingincreasinglypluralisticanddiverse.
Hence, cultural competency and awareness are given more focus in physician
training seminars and within medical school curricula. A renewed interest in
describing the varied ethical constructs of specific populations has taken palce
within medical literature. This paper aims to provide an overview of Islamic
medicine technology. Beginning with an introduction of Islamic medicine
technology, the reader will be introduced to the scope of Islamic medicine
technology, from that aimed at developing moral character to writing grounded in
Islamic law. In the latter from, there is an attempt to derive an Islamic perspective
on Islamic medicine technology. It is hoped that the insights gained will aid both
clinicians and ethicist to better understand the Islamic medicine technology of

6. TWO STAGES BETWEEN 8TH AND 13TH CENTURY A.D
FIRST STAGE WAS THE STAGE OF COMPILATION AND
TRANSLATION OF THE WORK OF THE GREEK, SYRIAC,
PERSIAN.
SECOND STAGE WAS A PERIOD OF EXCELLENCE AND
AT THIS STAGE THE WORLD WITNESSEDTHE ORIGINAL
CONTRIBUTION OF THE GREAT NAMES OF MEDICINES.
AL-RAZI, IBN RUSYD, IBN SINA, IBN MAIMON WAS
SOME OF THE GREAT NAMES OF THE MEDICINE
7. SCIENTIFIC METHODOLOGY WITH RESEARCH, OBSERVATION
AND REPRODUCIBILITY WAS PART AND PARCEL OF THEIR WORK
AND COULD STILL BE FOUND TODAY.
THEIR INNOVATIVATION CAN BE RELATED BY THE MESSAGE OF
THE QURAN WHICH IS NOT ONLY AS A GUIDANCE TO MANKIND
AND JINN BUT ALSO CHALLENGE MANKIND TO STUDY
CREATION OF THE UNIVERSE.
SCIENCE WAS NO STRANGER TO THEM AS ALLAH HAD ALWAYS
REMINDED MAN TO STUDY , PONDER AND OBSERVE HIS
CREATIONS.
9. It means different things to different people, in view of the
different background and interest.
• Many confusions arise especially with regard to the concept
of Islamic medicine and medicine as practised by Muslim
( Kasule, 1995 ). The latter is not the same and far from
meeting the criteria of Islamic medicine.
• The resurgence of Islam has no doubt created a great
influence on the desire of the ummah to define and practise
medicine in line with Islam.
10. The oath and ethics should be in line with the
teachings of Al-Quran and Hadith .
Abortion is not allowed for the sake of
unwanted pregnancies.
Homosexuality should not be accepted by society.
The application of knowledge and services should be considered
as an ibadah which should bring man closer to Allah SWT the
Creator of the universe.
11. Does modern medicine satisfy the criteria of Islamicmedicine?
Can spesificmedicine be categorised asIslamic medicine?
Islam encouragesscientific
research and discovery but
it must havevalues attach
to it. Thereis no such thing
as science for the sake of
science but science is for
the benefit of mankindand
universe, and to serve Allah
SWT.
Islamic medicineshould
includetheapplication of
medical knowledge, medical
treatment, medical research,
medical training and all
activities related to
medicine.
13. Reproduction
It is very clear that
reproduction is
expected of married
couples and any
procedure to
enhance fertility and
improve conception
to delivery is
permissible
Contraception
Islam does not
forbid the former
and references are
many but with a
qualification that
both husband and
wife agree
Organ Replacement
Islam does not
forbid the former
and references are
many but with a
qualification that
both husband and
wife agree
14. We have gone through the historical perspectives and training in medicine and
the role of the “mind evil” in distorting perspectives of medical practise. I
have attempted to identify the root causes for current therapeutic practises
which may be beyond the bounds of Islamic restrictions. Islam requires of
some order. Otherwise, we are no better than animals. What Islamic medical
practitioners must do is stop the rhetoric of Islamic medicine but instead
dedicate themselves to the teaching and practise of good medicine, and persist
and persevere (the main weakness) in substantive research. Then and only
then, will the testimony of Islamic Medicine as the right medicine be
substantiated.
