2. Brief intro of the title
Closer to human itself is the
issue of medicine. Modern medicine,
Islamic medicine, homeopathy and
traditional medicine need not be in
conflict with one another. This is the
core message of writers of this topic.
The principle is simple, Allah has
given cure to all illness and it is for
man to search and apply the best cure
that has been developed and
perfected by the society
3. OBJECTIVE
To study that Islamic
medicine is an universal
and should be
acceptable to all
To prove that Islamic
medicine is
irrespective of
geographical
localities and cultural
or religious
background
To find out the effectiveness of
Islamic medicine and
remembered that it is not a
therapeutic regime or procedures
but rather a concept, value,
paradigm, guided and does not
contradict the teaching of Al-
Quran and Hadith
To prove that Islamic
medicine is felexible,
universal, all
embracing with room
for growth and
development for the
future
4. Modernmedical practice is becoming increasingly pluralistic
and diverse. Hence, cultural competency and awareness are given more
focus in physician training seminars and within medical school curricula.
A renewed interest in describing the varied ethical constructs of specific
populations has takenpalce within medical literature. This paper aims to
provide an overview of Islamic medicine technology. Beginning with an
introductionofIslamicmedicinetechnology,thereaderwillbeintroduced
to the scope of Islamic medicine technology, from that aimed at
developing moral character to writing grounded in Islamic law. In the

8. What is
Islamic
Medicine ?
It means different things to different people, in
view of the different background and interest.
The resurgence of Islam has no doubt created a
great influence on the desire of the ummah to
define and practise medicine in line with Islam.
Many confusions arise especially with regard to the
concept of Islamic medicine and medicine as practised
by Muslim
( Kasule, 1995 ). The latter is not the same and far from
meeting the criteria of Islamic medicine.
9. THE CONCEPT
of man as a
khalifah on this
earth should be
an integral part
of the Islamic
medicine
The oath and ethics should be in line with the
teachings of Al-Quran and Hadith .
Abortion is not allowed for the sake of unwanted
pregnancies.
Homosexuality should not be accepted by society.
The application of knowledge and services should be
considered as an ibadah which should bring man closer
to Allah SWT the Creator of the universe.
10. The technological know how and
its application should not be value-
free and should be done in a
framework agreeable to Islam.The
norms and values should be
determined by Islamic laws and not
by the circumstances and change
with time. It should be opened to
all kinds of knowledge, being
universal, objective and scientific
regardless of when and where the
knowledge was discovered and
formulated, and by who. The
knowledge and its application
should bring men closer to Allah
SWT and make them become the
khalifah as mentioned in the Quran
( Al-Baqarah : 30 )
11. Does modern medicine
satisfy the criteria of
Islamic medicine?
Can spesific medicine be
categorised as Islamic
medicine?
Islam encourages scientific research and discovery but it must
have values attach to it. There is no such thing as science for
the sake of science but science is for the benefit of mankind
and universe, and to serve Allah SWT.
Islamic medicine should include the application of medical
knowledge, medical treatment, medical research, medical training
and all activities related to medicine.
12. Whether it is preventive or therapeutic, it should
be based on the knowledge, fact and formation or
formulation on therapies which have been fully
tested and in line with the Islamic paradigm
guided by Al-Quran and Hadith Rasulullah. It
is far from truth if Islamic Medicine, as claimed
by some, consists only of doa and recitation of
verses of the Quran, as this will downgrade the
value of knowledge in Islam and the concept of
taqwa and will make the ummah backward.

Transplantation merely denotes a living organ removed
to another site with the ability to grow. Similarly, the
case for using animal organs for transplantation.
15. Conclusion
We have gone through the historical perspectives and training in
medicine and the role of the “mind evil” in distorting perspectives of medical
practise. I have attempted to identify the root causes for current therapeutic
practises which may be beyond the bounds of Islamic restrictions. Islam
requires of some order. Otherwise, we are no better than animals. What
Islamic medical practitioners must do is stop the rhetoric of Islamic
medicine but instead dedicate themselves to the teaching and practise of good
medicine, and persist and persevere (the main weakness) in substantive
research. Then and only then, will the testimony of Islamic Medicine as the
right medicine be substantiated.
