This document outlines a proposed music-based tutoring and therapy program for children with special needs. The program aims to help students with learning disabilities like autism by incorporating music into academic instruction. Goals include developing an efficient tutoring program with a music component, well-trained staff, and relaxing environment. Performance will be tracked by surveying student and parent progress, as well as testing students' social and educational development. The budget outlines startup costs including materials, marketing, and staffing. The target audience is the local school district and parents of elementary students with IEPs.

This presentation was given by Debby Allen from Oxford Brookes University to introduce the Strengthening Families Programme, an evidence-based programme aimed at strengthening the parent/carer child relationship in order to reduce alcohol and drug use and behavioural problems in adolescence.
We are aware of the fact that every child is unique and performs differently in school and at home. These children differ in almost everything be it their behavior, learning or grasping. The way they perform in studies is quite different and this is the reason because of which they cannot be compared to one another. Some students are brilliant and can work hard and perform on their own, while on the other hand, there are some who need extra attention and care through which they can perform well in school. The situation for each child quite varies. The results that a student gets in school are not only his individual efforts but it is the efforts that are invested together by the students, parents, teachers, and the school authorities. However, if a child takes home tuitions then it is an added advantage for them that helps them to outperform in their academics. This is actually a very helpful solution as here the students can directly interact with the tutor and clears their doubts individually. Home tuitions are basically the provision of academic guidance at a student’s home. There are various benefits of home tuitions or person tutoring for both students as well as the parents. Some of the benefits are:-
This is a presentation about academic concerns and it contains examples, illustrations, ways to overcome, and how to support students with academic concerns.

He discussed the concept of quality improvement, emphasizing its applicability to various aspects of life, including personal, project, and program improvements. He defined quality as doing the right thing at the right time in the right way to achieve the best possible results and discussed the concept of the "gap" between what we know and what we do, and how this gap represents the areas we need to improve. He explained the scientific approach to quality improvement, which involves systematic performance analysis, testing and learning, and implementing change ideas. He also highlighted the importance of client focus and a team approach to quality improvement.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.
We all have good and bad thoughts from time to time and situation to situation. We are bombarded daily with spiraling thoughts(both negative and positive) creating all-consuming feel , making us difficult to manage with associated suffering. Good thoughts are like our Mob Signal (Positive thought) amidst noise(negative thought) in the atmosphere. Negative thoughts like noise outweigh positive thoughts. These thoughts often create unwanted confusion, trouble, stress and frustration in our mind as well as chaos in our physical world. Negative thoughts are also known as “distorted thinking”.

1. Music Based Tutoring and
Therapy Program
Helping Children With Special Find Hope In Education
2. The Issue
In todays educational system, sometimes the different get left behind or
forgotten because it is easier to dismiss the problem then it is to actually deal
with it and find a solution. Many children with learning disabilities such as
autism or speech and language problems often find the regular education
tools difficult and confusing to use.
However, many students with these difficulties are also often the ones who
excel at music and art simply because their brain allows them to relax and
the ease of the music gives these students the ability to comprehend and
function.
3. Why does this matter to me?
For many years I have worked
with these wonderful children
and watched too many of them
struggle with things that were so
easily learned if managed
properly
That Ah Ha Moment!
I was watching my students play with
instruments and listening to them sing songs
when it hit me how quickly they were
learning the techniques for the instruments
and lyrics to the songs.
4. Our primary objective is to
create an open atmosphere
of learning for students
where the academic
assistance has a music
based background.
5. GOALS
To develop an efficient
tutoring program with
music based undertones
including a well trained
staff and a relaxing
atmosphere that allows
students with disabilities
to excel in academics
To work in
conjunction with
other district and
outside
organizations to
create therapy
and tutor sessions
based on IEP
curriculum
Recruit a starting
program of 10-15
ESE and music
educators and
speech and
language therapists
to start the
program
Enrollment of at least 50
student for the 2015-2016
school year is necessary for
optimal performance of first
school year results
6. What makes me think I can do this?
• My experience in the education both
with special needs and regular
education students
• My education in music therapy and
ESE education
• I am currently in training for
therapeutic studies on children with
disabilities
• I am currently taking business classes
to make sure that I can keep up with
todays ever changing business
education market
• Several district tutoring programs have
been contacted and are willing to work
with our program
• I have many connections stemming from
my ASD classroom work - many parents
have already said they would commit to
signing up for the program
7. In order to get approval for my
program my target audience is
the Palm Beach County School
District, State of Florida
Education Committee, and The
Center for Autism.
After startup is approved my
target audience will for the first
year be parents with elementary
aged students with learning
disabilities primarily autism. After
the first year I would like to
branch out to parents of older
students as well.
8. Performance Indicators
During the school year the company will survey the number of students that are enrolled
in the program. We will take data to show how many join and how long they stay active as
well as when they become inactive in the program.
To get a basic idea of how the program is doing with in the first school year, we will survey
both students and parents to get a look at their progress and take ideas on where
improvement is needed. All results will be reviewed at the end of the school year with a 6
month tentative review at the midpoint of the school year.
The student's will take social and educational tests and surveys to see if the therapy and
tutoring programs are making a difference in their educational progress
9. Develop a
plan for
tutor
recruitment
Identify the students in PB
County schools who
currently have an IEP
Start tutor
recruitment
Acquire funds or
donations for materials
needed such as music
players, CDs, educational
worksheets, etc.
Create
presentation
for Autism
