As the electricity tariffs in
India are changing every
year, we at iData Insights
are bringing out a report
which will be very useful
to subscribers,prospects,
readers, users and cli-ents
detailing the latest
slabs and tariff rates for
the year 2014-15. So we
do our research for all
the states in India regu-larly
and publish a table
that lists all the latest
tariff slabs and rates ap-plicable
for LT (Low Ten-sion),
HT (High Tension)
domestic customers in
states of India.
The electricity tariff of
various states is under
a lot of scrutiny espe-cially
since the finan-cial
viability of Distribu-tion
Companies is being
questioned. The historic
decision of the Honorable
Supreme Court to cancel
204 coal blocks has put
the faith of 67 GW ca-pacities
of power plants
in huge doubt.
The decision on cards
by the Central Govern-ment
in this regard to re-auction
of the cancelled
blocks would lead to in-creased
power prices as
the bidding for blocks
may be re-allocated at
higher the price at which
they were initially allo-cated.
For those plants
which had an agree-ments
that provide for
fuel cost pass-through
the Government is plan-ning
to induce a cap on
power prices as per the
block. This decision
however, if implemented
may leave a bad taste
among private develop-ers
leading to all incre-mental
cost absorption
by them. The industry
take is that should there
the blocks being re-auc-tioned
on heavy discounts
or absolutely free, the
cost absorption for de-veloping
the blocks may
not be a pass through in
power tariffs to the end
consumers but otherwise
would be unfair.
By meticulously exam-ining
the impact of new
regulations and deeply
analyzing the possible
impacts on all the stake-holders,
iData Insights at-tempts
to blend the fac-tual
power tariff data and
present a dossier which
would be first of its kind
and would enable clients
with reliable insights and
better understanding of
the power tariff dynam-ics
in the country. The
key queries which find
answer in this report are:
What is likely rationale
behind capping power
tariff for re-allocated
coal blocks? In this dos-sier
iData Insights delves
deep to and most exhaus-tively
examines the case
of fuel pooling and its
possible impact on the
end consumers and the
dynamics of power indus-try.
Through this report,
iData Insights attempts to
unveil the pressure on the
power generation com-panies
with incentives
linked to PLF instead of
PAF and in the current
fuel scarcity prevalent in
the country? Would all the
states be as pro-active
as Delhi in introducing a
fuel surcharge compo-nent
in the power tariffs,
if so then what would be
its possible impact? Also,
what would be the cost
of power supply and cost
of procurement vis-à-vis
from power distribution
Power Tariffs in India - 2014-15
utility’s perspective is
mapped in detail.
Queries like these and
many more find their so-lutions
in the virtue of this
report which is to explore
how the Indian electricity
generation sector would
respond to the new tariff
environment. The report
also analyses current
power tariffs prevalent in
all the states of India with
utility wise status. The re-port
provides highly relia-ble
datasets and excellent
insights on power tariffs
and is a must buy for all
allied stakeholders in the
business value chain of
power generation to sale.
