This document presents a multimodal vision-based robotic system to assist quadriplegics in performing daily tasks. The system uses a Kinect camera for vision-based control and feedback. It can track a user's face and body to enable automatic drinking and shaving. A Bluetooth keyboard and 3D joystick were used for control, and a robotic arm was selected as the actuator. The system aims to allow quadriplegics to live more independently by assisting with activities of daily living and enabling hands-on laboratory work. Future work will involve testing the system with able-bodied and quadriplegic users to evaluate its effectiveness.
