2. Original picture for poster
Once the final picture was chosen for our poster, we used Adobe Fireworks CS6 to start editing
and creating a polished horror film poster. We cropped the original picture as we did not need
any of the background which later would be cancelled out through more editing.

3. We wanted to cancel out the background and have our main actress stand out in the
picture. In order to do this we change the scale of brightness and contrast allowing
the actress’s clothing to stand out against the darkened background. We then
saturated the picture to allow the darker colours (navy & black) to seem more rich and
vibrant.

4. We then added the name of our film ‘Unnerved’ as this is a poster promoting our film.
We wanted it to stand out against the black, there was no better than white which also
connects well with clothing detail in the picture as well as being easily readable and
recognizable to our target audience

5. Using a smudge tool we slowly smudged upwards using the black coloured
background around our actress creating a shadow. This allowed to create a darkness
that we wanted to capture her dragged backwards as if she was getting into a
‘darkness’

6. Finally we inserted a tagline ‘there is two
sides to every person’. We wanted to
make this tagline eye catching and blend
well with the horror genre. Using a fonts
website we came down to fonts tat we
liked and thought worked well. We
decided on the smaller as it we thought it
conveyed a sense of fear and had a unique
eeriness to it. We wanted to keep the font
in black however in order to do this we
created a white box behind the text to
make sure it was readable against our
black background.
