At the beginning of the video when the boy and the girl are shown through past happier times, the girl will be wearing a red coat, scarf and gloves. This will symbolise the love she has for the boy. Also she will wear a red watch/ ribbon on her wrist which is iconic for two purposes: - Healing- the red watch or ribbon will be a metaphor of healing as it mirrors the phrase that ‘time is a healer’ and will also illustrate the lyric ‘pour a little salt we were never here’ because salt has healing properties and I think this is the perceived meaning behind it.-Love- also with it being red represents the love, and that she wants time to heal their love- ‘just last the year’. There will be red in various parts of the video but towards the end we won’t use any red colours because their love is fading away ‘I’m burning at the bridges at the end of all your lies.BLUE- blue has connotations of depression. We will feature at least some blue in the mise en scene in the video at points where depression is most reflected in the lyrics ‘sullen load is full on the split’. Blue also has connotations of healing when its in lighter shades, so we will use lighter blues toward the end to symbolise that although she’s still in pain through the split, she’s slowly starting to heal and coming to terms with it by asking why it went wrong ‘Who will love you? Who will fight?’ <br />BLACK- represents darkness and mysterious elements. The girl will be in a black lace dress when she’s in a room with a grand piano. This may be in the third verse ‘I told you to be patient, I told you to be kind’ to show her anger at him for being the way he was and acting the way he did.<br />WHITE- white has positive connotations; it can represent purity and a fresh start. We may feature white in the mise en scene at the end verse of our video to represent the girl character is wanting to move on and make a fresh start in life.<br />
