A Research On Anxiety And Phobias
Anxiety and phobias can be induced via mechanisms involving a variety of stimuli. Fear inducing
stimuli can trigger the formation of fear memories via classical conditioning that can be
reconsolidated if the reminder of the stimuli or the specific fear associated stimulus itself is present.
Recently, as well as over years of research, efforts have been made to understand the manner in which
the fear memory pathways are consolidated and paved with the goal of learning how to inhibit or
undermine the reconsolidation of such pathways. Knowledge obtained through experimentation
involving a noradrenergic beta blocker, propranolol HCl, has demonstrated that this pharmacological
antagonist acting against beta adrenergic receptors present in the amygdala can disrupt the fear
memory pathway. Although this information has been helpful in understanding the circuitry of fear
memories and the role of inhibition in such pathways, it has also led to more questions pertaining to
clinical applications of drugs such as propranolol HCl. In fact, Marieke Soeter and Merel Kindt sought
to understand the role of propranolol HCl in impeding the reconsolidation of fear memories in a group
of spider phobic women in a recent study. Throughout this analysis, the purpose, research methods,
results, conclusions, potential problems, and future directions of this study will be considered. To
begin, production of the study required knowledge of fear memory and its role in the brain. As with
any memory,

The Greatest Known Prehistoric Individual
There is much information that is unknown to many about the world. It is reasonable that discovery
would fascinate many because of the ability to gain knowledge about the world. Learning about
ancestors can bring knowledge about how people in the past had lived and how it can be used to
compare today s society and culture. Written documents enhance the ability to understand the past.
These references are not available before the activity writing and recording was done. This time period
before writing and recording is called prehistory. In order to understand this period, one would obtain
knowledge from research done by evolutionary biologists archaeologists. There was an evolutions for
our ancestors called Homo sapiens. There was a paleolithic era and a Neolithic era that is significant
with the transition to agriculture. When archaeologists had discovered a skeleton of a woman who
died 3.2 million years ago, they had found the world s best known prehistoric individual. This skeleton
was put under the named Lucy. The skeleton was the best known prehistoric individual because it is
the most complete and preserved skeleton of any human ancestor. Lucy s species had the ability to use
dexterous hands to use tools and carry objects, which may be Lucy and her species was able to survive
better than other species. Similar to history, human ancestors are significant because there is the desire
to learn more about the past. After the Earth was created, the first living

Juxtaposition In Jonah
In Jonah 4, we saw that when you run without God s love, God runs to make you love Him so that you
will begin to love people the way God loves people more than anything.
Jonah became vehemently angry when God spared Nineveh. He prayed, which is a good thing, but
how he prayed leaves quite a bit to be desired: 3 Therefore now, O LORD, please take my life from
me, for it is better for me to die than to live!
The LORD is not going to allow His servant to have this wrong attitude, so He confronts Jonah with a
question: 4 Then the LORD said, Is it right for you to be angry?
This is a conversation between God and Jonah. We re third party. Jonah is saying to God, I m mad that
You spared the Ninevites and forgave them and showed Your love and mercy!
God responds by asking Jonah a question: Is it right for you to be angry?
So what would ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

What does Jonah do here? He made himself a little shelter and watches, pouting, he s still mad!
What does it mean ~ till he might see what would become of the city ~ it means that he is still holding
out hope that GOD changes His mind and lets them have it!
I hope they start doing evil things again so You can blast them into oblivion! That s Jonah! He has
absolutely no love for these people!
He s running without God s love. And God is not going to let up on him any more than He s going to
let up on you and me until we get hearts like God s ~ and start loving people like God loves people!
The rest of this story demonstrates how God is so creative in the way that He deals with people. Look
how He deals with Jonah in verse 6 ~ 6 And the LORD God prepared a plant and made it come up

Comparing Japanese and American Diets Essay examples
Comparing Japanese and American Diets
The typical diet of the average Japanese citizen is much healthier than that of an average American
citizen. The Japanese diet is vastly different than the common western diet in terms of ingredients
used, portion size, preparation, and relationship between its users and their food. While Americans
commonly opt for unhealthy food high in calories, fat, cholesterol, and sodium, many people of Japan
benefit from their healthy choice of rice, fish, vegetables, and soy products. The Japanese style of
preparing and serving food is also very intricate and deliberate, which encourages diners to truly
appreciate their food, instead of rushing through each meal without much thought, as done in the ...

The health of both overweight and obese people lies in jeopardy due to the extra stress placed on the
body, especially the heart, due to the high amount of excess fat they carry with themiv. Being
overweight or obese increases a person s risk for diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure, high
cholesterol, some types of cancer, stroke, and several other devastating ailments. The percentage of
the obese population in the United States has risen from 23% to its present day rate of 30% in only
eight yearsv. This skyrocketing trend is most likely related to the increase in portion sizes and calories
at many American restaurants, the rising level of stress and expectation during the average workday,
and the logarithmic increase in fast food restaurant options over the last 20 years. To understand how
the Japanese diet supersedes the typical American diet in numerous health issues, several aspects of
the diets must be evaluated. The staples of a typical Japanese diet differ dramatically from the
centerpieces of the average American diet. In Japan, the main dietary staple is rice, which only has
approximately 100 calories per half cup serving, a negligible amount of fat, and a very low amount of
sodium. Since rice serves as the nutritional core of almost every meal, this diet offers consistency and
balance to its users. Many Japanese people eat twice as much fish as red meat, and since fish is high in
protein while low in saturated fat, fish is a healthier

Iran And Nuclear Weapons Treaty
Dating back to the 1950s, Iran was interested in having its nuclear program (NTI, September 2015).
Iran received assistance from the United States through the US Atoms for Peace program. This is a
program announced by the United States at the UN in 1953 to share nuclear materials with other
countries and states for peaceful purposes. Although Iran ratified the Non Proliferation of Nuclear
Weapons Treaty (NPT) in 1970, the Shah might already have ambitions for developing nuclear
weapons (NTI, September 2015).
After the Islamic Revolution of 1979, in which the Shah was overthrown, the United States
discontinued its support regarding Iran s development of its nuclear program (Thompson, November
20, 2013). The United States worried that Iran could use the uranium to develop atomic or nuclear
bombs. However, Iran claimed that the nuclear power will be used for peaceful purposes only. In
2003, uranium, the necessary material needed to make nuclear bombs, was found at a plant in the city
of Natanz by inspectors from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). A temporary stop on
nuclear enrichment was made. The enrichment resumed in 2006 after Iran continued its nuclear
program (Thompson, November 20, 2013). The international community started to react against Iran
nuclear program (Thompson, November 20, 2013). A sanction against Iran was passed by the UN
Security Council after Iran did not stop its nuclear program. Sanctions could be said to be both

The Effects Of Make Up And Body Image
This persuasive essay is going to be on the effects of using, and problems with make up and body
image on teenagers. These affect teenager s self esteem and make the teens have a vision of being
perfect in every way. Most teens now have a vision of the body image that models and celebrity
induce and some teenagers think if they are anything less than these front cover models they are ugly.
One website explains body image as Body image is how you view your physical self including
whether you feel you are attractive and whether others like your looks. When people feel their body is
ugly or that they are too short or that they don t look like an Instagram model it makes us feel
valueless or weird. The words we should be using are unique or beautiful; we are all different and
aiming to be the same as someone else isn t right. One of the main problems with make up is that most
teenagers use make up to hide their acne and spots but over time this can increase amount of spots
meaning more make up is used and a chain reaction occurs. Make up is also quite expensive and can
be used up very quickly. Make up is mostly used to improve someone s looks because they are self
conscious and I think it s good that people feel more confident while wearing make up but you should
be able to accept the way you look and feel great about yourself. If everyone just gave a compliment a
day no one would feel ugly and we wouldn t have standards or this image of how we could look better.

Role of Private Bankers and Wealth Managers
Jpz777 02/19/2013 Order # A2086484 With the global economy still struggling to fully recover from
the devastating effects of a sustained recession, the role of private bankers and wealth managers has
taken on a renewed sense of significance, as these professional money managers may be able to help
individuals and families rebuild their shattered finances. A competent and qualified wealth manager is
capable of developing a prudent investment strategy which is customized to best suit an individual
client, transforming simple liquid assets into the engines driving continual prosperity. In order to
maximize a client s return on investment (ROI) ratios, it is important for wealth managers to perform
due diligence by poring through banking records, transaction histories, investment portfolios, and
other factors of their financial health to determine the optimal money management and investment
strategy for their particular needs. This process is integral to the overall philosophy of Asset Liability
Management (ALM), a term which denotes the adaptation of the portfolio management process to
handle the presence of various constraints relating to the liabilities of an investor (Amenc, Martellini,
Milhau Ziemann, 2009), because recognizing a client s limitations is essential to helping them realize
their potential. The most effective and efficient wealth managers are those who actively work with
clients, fostering a personal understanding which strengthens the professional

Importance Of Domino In Vietnam
The United States understood that it was a major deal to do anything they could to stop the spread of
communism. Their involvement in Vietnam expressed how important it was for them to contain
communism.
In order to contain communism they used the process of the domino theory. The domino theory held
that a communist victory in one nation would quickly lead to a chain reaction of communist takeovers
in nearby states. In Southeast Asia, the United States government used the domino theory to justify its
support of a non communist in South Vietnam against the communist government of North Vietnam.
This theory brought more involvement of the United States because they began to send more and more

Garden City Research Paper
Garden City, Kansas and New York City, New York share some similarities and some striking
differences. Life tends to flow the same in both cities, however the energy and movement of the two
cities is vastly different. Geographical features put apart the two cities, the trees and hills of NYC to
the flat plains in Kansas. The demographics of the people that make up the population of the cities are
more different than similar. The culture and or lifestyle between each of the cities is quite similar with
a few variances. Garden City and New York City may seem the same with a quick glance, but delving
into the lifestyles and geographical features is what sets these cities apart. Geography sets every city
apart from one another, especially the cities of New York City and Garden City. The obvious being

institutions. Whereas, Southwest Kansas offers predominantly public schooling, unless they are
religious practicing private schools. New York City is full of four year universities, both public and
private. On the other hand, Garden City only has a community college with the closest four year
college being about two and a half hours away. Job availabilities tend to depict where people decide to

Analysis Of Mandeville s Travels And Bisclavret
Monsters have always fascinated readers because of their mysterious origins and motives. These
strange and unknown characteristics lead us to ask questions and really think about how humans
justify their actions and consider what is and isn t moral. Monsters also help us come to a conclusion
about who we are as people in a functioning society. In the works of Mandeville s Travels and
Bisclavret, the authors help us discover who we are to unify us as a community, give us a sense of
security, and identifying monstrous qualities amongst people and creatures. In Mandeville s Travels,
John Mandeville tells us his stories of the discovery of the many monsters he finds across the world.
Through his stories we discover who we are as people through his monsters. His monsters tell us what
we are not, and by doing this he tells us who we are, educated, civilized, kind, and caring people. In
Mandeville s first encounter with a monster, the Melk are described as incredibly cruel people who
take pleasure in murder and making other people suffer, There are wicked and cruel folk there too. For
they have no delight or pleasure in anything except slaughtering people to drink their blood. And the
man who can kill the greatest number of men is the most respected and worthiest among them.
(Mandeville, 134). Through this explanation we understand how bizarre of a ritual this is because no
one in their right mind would take such pleasure in taking someone s life. Not only does this describe

Emotions And The Human Race
There are many answers to why emotions are important. Emotions serve several purposes. Emotions
play a vital role in how we think and behave. Emotions influence our actions, our outlook, and our
personal characteristics. Emotions help us grow and survive. Emotions help us make decisions.
Emotions help people understand one another. The list goes on and on because emotions are key to the
existence of the human race. Without emotions the human race would be unable to function physically
or mentally.
According to the evolutionary approach to emotions, emotions are very important. They are the key to
animal and human survival. Evolution states that emotions are passed on through genetic replication.

Hardwired emotions are associated with the nervous system. It s detection of stimuli and recognition
of stimuli helps to decide what to do and then do it. Without this we would not be able to respond to
emotional encounters. For example, we need the stimulus, to thalamus, to emotion and response to be
able to react when we see a man with a gun. Without this brain and body connection to emotions, you
wouldn t be able to respond to threatening situations, decreasing your chances of survival. The
biological approach to emotions is important because it connects the brain to the body in order to help
further the survival of a species through interpretation of a situation and reacting to it.
The cognitive approach to emotions explains how people s emotions depend on their appraisal of an
occurrence. Appraisal of a situation can determine the relevance of a situation. There are two types of
appraisal, primary and secondary appraisal. They can help determine whether a situation is beneficial
to someone and if so how they might benefit from the situation or if a situation is dangerous and if so
how to cope. Appraisals are quick. The cognitive part of this is the emotion that occurs from the
situation. For example, when you feel something, rather than just reacting quickly, reflecting on what
appraisal you made leads you to that feeling. If you change the appraisal, you can change how you
feel. The feeling attached to that appraisal determines

The Greatest Day Of My Life
Everyone needs some form of escape from reality. While this varies from person to person, with the
entertainment business booming, it is safe to infer that many find their comfort with movie theatres.
Many of these people like to be engulfed by the story of their movie. My escape, however, comes
from just being inside the theatre. There is something magical about theatres that keeps bringing me
back. The first time I vividly remember going to the movies was when the second Harry Potter movie
released. I finally watched the first movie on our brand new DVD player and read the four books that
had been released. When the Saturday came to go to the Edwards in Irvine, I woke up extra early to
make terrible pancakes for everybody (this is also a time when I wanted to be a chef). I begged my
parents to take to me to the nearby 7 11 to buy all the candy that we were going to sneak in the theatre.
I knew that this was going to be the greatest day of my life. While I know now my parents were
reluctant to spend all that money, I know that today they would not change a thing. Going to the
movies in the early 2000 s for my family meant more than just watching a movie. With my mother
working two jobs and my father deploying every other year to different parts of the world as a Marine,
these Saturdays were a very rare occasion. Not only do I get to watch a movie, I get to spend a whole
day with my family hopping from movie to movie. There were no fights, no problems, and no worries.

In such a technologically dependent world today, there is almost no career where someone can have
major success without understanding at least the basic usage of technology in their industry. Anyone
who has a desire to enter the business industry must understand information system utilization within

Of course those who specialize in computer information system require a better understanding, but for

Speech On Graduation Speech
Good Morning, parents, friends, and last but not least to my fellow Graduates of Monroe High School.
It is an honor to stand before you all to deliver this speech for such a special occasion. To the
graduates, today is a very bittersweet moment for us all, as this ceremony marks the transition from
High School to college, the military, or the job industry. Let me begin by saying I am extremely proud
of the growth we have made as a class from our freshman year until this point. Over the course of our
four years in high school, we have matured into young adults ready to take on the world. While each
of our paths were different, we ve each weathered the storm and I am pleased to say that we ve made
it! This journey has been filled with so many unforgettable moments, for many of us Monroe High
School has been a place to maximize our potential as future leaders, innovators, and thinkers. Firstly, I
would like to begin by highlighting a few of our accomplishments as a class academically, in the
community and in athletics. To this date we have raised over five million dollars in scholarships, with
nine athletic signings, and a host of students going to college with academic scholarships. As a class,
we have been devoted to extending service to our communities, whether it be through donating blood
at the blood drive, sacrificing Thursday night s at the closet, or simply volunteering to help out the
teachers here at Monroe High School. Monroe High School has always been commended

Persuasive Essay On The Importance Of The Internet
Every one of us living in the twenty first century has used the internet or have at least known about it.
The internet is crucial to our daily lives now, it not just a simple fad that gets forgotten in a week or
two, but a tool that we utilized every day. The number of benefits that comes from the internet is
uncountable, for example with the aid of the internet we now have instantaneous access to work,
entertainment, medical, and countless more. Though that may change with the Federal
Communications Commission (FCC) Chairman Ajit Pai proposing to end net neutrality or also known
as the open internet. Net neutrality was designed to keep the internet, open, fast, free, and safe from
prominent Internet service providers (ISP) companies like Verizon, Comcast, and TimeWarner from
trying to charge more for speed, and specific website access, something that is and should be free from
the beginning. One author of the article Net neutrality: needed or not? states that Net neutrality is
about protecting the status quo that is the open Internet. On many levels, the term open Internet is
redundant. If it weren t open, it wouldn t be the Internet. He is right the internet would not be the same
if everyone did not have equal access because of companies trying to profit. Others, however, are
saying that there is no need for having net neutrality because it is unwanted and hindering the markets
from being able to rise sufficiently. According to the study The end of net

Enough Is Enough Alain De Botton
When is Enough, Enough?
In his chapter Equality, Expectation, and Envy of his book Status Anxiety, Alain de Botton analyzes
the social anxieties of people. In his article, Botton explains the possible causes of these dilemmas,
and how these social issues affect our generation today. Throughout the chapter, Botton discusses
peoples longing to be better, the impact of equality on the world, and the realistic results of high
expectations and hopes. Although modern society seems to have had a tremendous improvement of
resources over many generations, people fear that enough is not enough. Society strives for more and
better things, even when they already have more and better things. Botton explains that we decide our
wants and set our limits by comparing ourselves to our reference groups (Botton 25) A reference
group is an assemblage of people in similar conditions as our own. We suddenly become hateful and
envious when someone that we correspond and relate to is more dominant and successful than us in
whatever way. In addition to comparisons and envy, Botton discusses how we only compare ourselves
to people in our reference groups. In our society, it is easy to know when someone may have had more

compare ourselves to, the more there will be for us to envy. (Botton 27) Although very common today,
equality was not an accepted belief in the past. It was presumed that people were born into their
position, low or high. Slaves were not considered people and lived a life of servitude; they could not
build their way up to a higher position. Aristotle stated in Politics, It is clear that some men are by
nature free and others are by nature slaves, and that is for these latter, slavery is both expedient and

The Most Important Thing I Learned
The military is comprised of leaders and followers: this concept of leadership is the foundation of the
military, leaders are the decision makers, and followers carry out their decisions. These decision
makers are the role models the followers have a great deal of respect for and should admire. A good
leader is decisive, has integrity, and leads by example. Being entrusted to lead, to mold the individuals
around you into a cohesive unit is a special opportunity and only a few in respects to the total
population are commissioned. General Colin L. Powell stated, The most important thing I learned is

convicted, Lieutenant William Calley: who was Calley, and how was his influence cemented among
his men. Calley, a platoon leader in Charlie Company, Calley was tried and convicted of killing twenty
two villagers. Initially in the investigation, Calley s evaluations portrayed him as average ; however,
as the investigation progressed a more negative light illuminated him. Soldiers in his platoon soon

sometimes secretly discussed fragging him. Despite the aversion his men felt towards him, many of
the platoon soldiers were reluctant to testify against Calley when the trial began. Numerous troops

As a resident of Langley Air Force Base, we have been living in Hampton Virginia for just over two
years now. This area of VA is predominately black, and while I am from South Texas and lived with
mixed races there, I have never seen racism the way I have here. When I am on base to go shopping
we have a lot of retired military people and they are always pleasant and smiling and telling you to

This is the first time since we lived here that I have not felt safe in my home.
With my husband being in the military I tend to stick to going to the base for things I need. Work
manuals that I have seen do pertain to people like me and other military members and spouses. The
local media focuses a lot on the military and the military community. There are six or eight military
bases in the Hampton Roads area so we see a lot of coverage on the local news channels as well as in
the newspaper. The air shows that are put on by the Air Force Thunderbirds and the Navy Blue Angels
are big things around here and we get great coverage on the shows and show times.
I do feel that the minority groups interests are represented in our community. Most of the time that I
hear about it is during a sports season, without sounding like a stereotype, most of the athletes that we
hear about are black and are very good at what they do, and that is when I notice the news talking
about minorities. I think it is great that they athletes get scholarships for higher education, because I
know there are some families who could not afford it otherwise.
If I could resolve any inequities in my community it would be for everyone to treat everyone the same,
sure if we lived in a perfect world that would happen,

Discrimination, in the end, is the long build up of misunderstandings between people who at first
glance seem to be unsimilar. This is shown by the incident with the wood. The police believe that Boy
Willie and Lymon are stealing the wood, even though they were given permission to take some of the
wood for themselves. By assuming that they are thieves, they draw a line between blacks and whites.
They then spread this assumption to others who conclude the same thing which further strengthens the
division. This leads to entire populations hating other populations from one misunderstanding. Hatred
carries influence, and hatred is a powerful tool that Wilson shows that the whites dominate. For
example, And he go and fix it with the law that them is his berries.

Introduction
Gambling Addiction and Problem Gambling
To some people gambling is just a waste of time and money but to some it can be a winning streak.
Back then in the 1970s 30 55 years old was the typical age that most people gambled but now the
typical age is 17 70 years old. In the United States the legal age to gamble is 21 in most casinos and in
some Indian casinos the legal age is 18. There are many ways to gamble there are casinos, online
gambling and even home gambling with family or friends. Gambling not only interferes with your
money it can also affect and causes problems with an individual s life. Gambling addiction and
problem gambling create physical, emotional, social and financial problems in the lives of the

Internet gambling is easy to get hooked on. There are advertisements for casinos at almost all of the
major search engines and home pages (ex: yahoo, metacrawler, excite etc.) Many of these
advertisements claim that they have free gambling or give away free money. For example one casino
will give you $125.00 for a $50.00 deposit. Do you think they would really give you that money if
they weren t confident that you would get hooked and spend it all there or if they thought that they
wouldn t get it all back? Once they have lured you to their websites it is easy for them to get your
money. It seems a lot easier to spend virtual casino tokens purchased with a credit card than it is to
spend your actual hard earned cash at a real casino. Another obvious problem with having online
casinos is that children have easy access to them. There is no way to check ID. Anyone with a credit
card number can play. Parents of children who gamble online are legally responsible for the debt that
their children accumulate. It is especially easy if the parents have already been to that particular casino
and set up an account. All the child would need is a password and many computer operating systems
have the option of saving passwords and filling them in for the user. Young people are especially
vulnerable to Internet gambling. In virtually all studies of the rates of gambling problems at various
ages, high school and college aged individuals show the highest problem rates, said

Benefits Of Immunizations
Not only does immunizations save parents money, it saves the government money. Not all people are
wealthy enough to pay for insurance, or have jobs that provide families with health insurance. Some
children are on government insurance like Medicaid or All Kids, vaccinations are paid for when on
government insurances. If a parent chooses not to vaccinate their children that are on Medicaid or All
Kids, and they become sick; the government will have to pay for the expenses of treatment. To me,
that is not fair because if the child is getting free health insurance, he or she should have to get
vaccinated to help prevent disease. If a parent cannot afford insurance or does not qualify for
government insurance, they are programs that will help

Kudler Fine Foods Frequent Buyer Program James L. Lewellen BSA/310 June 17, 2013 Thomas Potts
Kudler Fine Foods Frequent Buyer Program The intent behind the development of Kudler Fine Foods
Frequent Buyer Program is to increase the level of customer loyalty. The system will be broken down
into two different levels; the frequency of a buyers shopping with Kudler Fine Foods and the amount
of money that the buyer spends with each purchase. A program like this is typically used as a
marketing strategy that is enabled by point of sale technology to record and store customer purchases
in exchange for rewards (Appel, p. 156, 2006). A web based shopping program will be used to

Financial Analysis This initial cost of the startup of this program will be a minimal impact on Kudler
Fine Foods. The initial advertisement effort will be done via social media; the companies Facebook
page and Twitter account, email and word of mouth. Allowing for a reward system for costumer
referrals can be used for current and new customers as the programs is employed and continues to
grow. Rajiv and bell argue customer retention costs are generally lower than customer acquisition
costs, companies are better of focusing attention on their more loyal customers especially since the top
20% of customers account for 80% of revenues and often more than 100% of profits (p. 180, 2003).
Kudler Foods could reduce their marketing expenses by using a customer loyalty system through the
use of rewards. The sales increase from this program should be reflected by the increase of new
customers and the increased returning customers increased spending. The use of seasonal promotions
only available to costumers enrolled into the frequent buyers program could also help in increased
sales profits. Conclusion A frequent shopper program can be a successful tool is used correctly by a
company. The difficult task will always be bringing in new costumers. This program should allow for
the retention of existing customers with Kudler Fine Foods. A rewards points system should be used

John Winthrop And Ralph Waldo Emerson
About a century ago, such scholar as Nietzsche disregarded the principles of modern factualism . Later
on, Weber established the end of the era of generalists. One cannot but state extreme specialization
and narrowly focused technical work to have changed certain visions into straight forward realities.
Concerning this essay, it is mainly aimed at analyzing the sociological speculations of two outstanding
thinkers John Winthrop and Ralph Waldo Emerson that, in view of widely acknowledged scholars,
reflect the state of public opinion even though they date back over two centuries; to be precise, the
focus lies in comparing and contrasting the utopian visions of the two above mentioned thinkers,
making emphasis on what utopia meant for these two authors and the way it was supposed to be
achieved. Moreover, the paper is focused on interpreting and coming to terms with the pivotal social
movements of Puritanism as well as transcendentalism. Speaking about the peculiarities of social
theories, it is necessary to take a view of recognized changes in vast domains of social life and culture.
The research will emphasize the main reconstructions of social and cultural theories due to historical
events. The essay is also targeted on finding out whether it is logically to discount all the concepts,
methods of the past, and acknowledge the new theoretical assumptions.
According to Kathleen M. Hogan of the University of Virginia, the historical yearning for some type

Secular Worldview And Secular Worldview
In order to compare the Christian worldview to the secular worldview of account, one must
understand the definition of what a world view is and what a Christian worldview looks like as well as
what a secular worldview looks like. It is not uncommon for individuals to have different worldviews
because the meaning of the word is a set of beliefs one uses to understand the world. All people grow
up viewing the world different because to the different things they experience in their lives. A
worldview defines the basis of how an individual interprets reality. A person s worldview would help
establish one s principles by how they judge right from wrong and it s their guide for everyday living.
A person s worldview shapes the way individuals interact within the world. Worldview plays a major
role when it comes to establishing one s moral opinions such as religious beliefs, marriage, politics,
social structures, environmental concerns, educational standards, economics, children upbringing,
food consumption, and the list continues. Individuals behave according to what they believe, not what
they don t believe. In today s world there are so many different worldviews and spiritual worldviews.
Most worldviews can be summed up into either a secular humanist worldview or a Christian
worldview.

Symptoms And Treatment Of Kartagener s Syndrome
Kartagener s syndrome is an autosomal recessive disorder affecting the cilia within the body.
Autosomal recessive means that one or more of both the parent s genes responsible for encoding the
cilia s structure are mutated. This essay will focus on the etiology, clinical manifestations and
anatomic alterations while also exploring diagnostic and treatment modalities. Cilia are the tiny hair
like structures found in many organ systems including the respiratory and reproductive systems. It was
diagnosed by a Swedish physician Manes Kartagener in 1933 (). Since Kartegner s syndrome is a
autosomal recessive disorder each child of the affected parents have a twenty five percent chance of
developing the syndrome. According to Zariwala, it is estimated that in the United States, there are
12,000 to 17,000 people who have the condition (Zariwala). Kartagener s syndrome often presents as
a newborn suffering from mild to moderate respiratory distress. As the neonate transitions into
extrauterine life, tachypnea and the need for supplemental oxygen is often apparent. Many babies
affected by the disease also have persistent crackles or rhonchi when auscultating their chest. Some
patients may also have an wheezes similar to patient s with asthma(Bergström, Sten Erik). This is
caused by the inability for the neonate to clear the secretions from their airway. When performing a
physical assessment of the chest you will often find that there is a hyper resonant percussion note, as

African American Social Factors
PECS Essay In the following essay, It will explain the different factors of Political, Economical,
Cultural, and Social events that drove the Early Colonist to the New World as in Defined in the
Merriam Dictionary, the lord mass of North and South Americas. King James, the figurehead and
arbitrator of English government was establishing a industry of tobacco which was one of the
Economical reasons that drove the Europeans to the New World. He himself did not chew tobacco, but
it did give a broader horizon of how he can distribute and earn the money by selling the good. This act

An example of such, is the Headright System. Since the king ruling at the time wanted to expand his
horizons he began with sending a group of colonizers to the New World. In the past when he had
began to do so, only 20% of the colonizers survived. So with his authority and better judgment, the
King began to give anybody 58 acres to anyone that volunteered to go on the voyage to the New
World Another Social reason is because of the number of Native Americans decrease do to social
events that the European. When Europeans began to trade with the Native they trade utensils and
clothing that had germs and diseases attached that the Natives were not attached to, so before the
colonies came along 1/10 Natives died from natural diseases. When the europeans came along
however the number jump to 8/10 so instead of decimation it had jumped to octomation. The third
reason was because of trade. When the Europeans first settle they traded money, but when they came
across the Natives they traded something of the same worth as stated above in Economics. So the
Indians with the New technology that the Europeans carried over, started to gain the habits and way of
the settlers. Property became a major problem between tribes, and who had access to what hunting

starting a new rebellion between more tribes. The reason is because of the florida Colonization. Juan
Ponce de León in 1513 founded what was perceived to be by present day St. Agustine. He named it
Pascua florida ( feast of the flowers). In 1539 Hernando de Soto began another expedition in search of

The Juvenile Justice System Is Creating A Criminal Class
Such reactions and critiques of the juvenile justice system enforce the notion that the juvenile system
is creating a criminal class. Black s theory states that patterns of relationships between the parties
involved in a case predict the styles and forms of social control, relationships between intimates would
result in more informal handling of cases. Law and formal control arise when informal control is weak
and unavailable. Legal control by the state develops when social control of families, schools, and
communities is inadequate. Cases are treated more or less formal or informal depending on the
amount of family control over juveniles (Staples, 1987). It is no surprise that blacks are
overrepresented in the juvenile justice system like they are in the adult system, hence the idea of the
juvenile system as just a second class mini criminal court (Sampson and Laub, 2003). Changes to the
juvenile court came about as the same time changes occurred to American families, more specifically,
divorce. In homes where children were living with both biological patterns, there was more social
control and less need for law. In single parent households, there is less social control. The growth of
formal social control with the decline of informal social control can account for increasing numbers of
juveniles entering the juvenile justice system. The number of black children living with both
biological parents until seventeen years old dropped from 52% in the early 1950s to one

Kgb In Animal Farm Essay
The KGB
Wouldn t it be nice to have a secret police force that listened to every word and killed anyone the spot

that worked for whoever was in power for Russia. Under the wrong control they were very
destructive. In Animal Farm the dogs represented the KGB.
The KGB was one of many roots of secret police. The 1st, strongest and most durable, was CHEKA .
CHEKA was originally formed in 1917, during the first days of the Bolshevik government. It played a
major role in the Russian Civil War with multiple investigations and executions. Feliks Dzerzhinsky,
CHEKA s chief during the early years of Soviet power, molded the service into an effective, merciless

The Pros And Cons Of Workplace Violence
Workplace Violence
Workplace violence is the main issue in the United States expressed influencing a large number of
American consistently. Working environment violence is any demonstration or danger of physical
savagery, provocation, terrorizing, or other undermining problematic conduct that happens at the work
site. It ranges from dangers and verbal mishandle to physical ambushes and even murder. It can
influence and include workers, customers, nurses, patient, clients, and guests. Workplace violence can
be discovered anywhere in every field we may accept the fact that it can happen in our workplace too,
but the fewer people speak which is encouraging these criminals to prepare of making more atrocity.
The occupational safety and health organization (OSHA) have created rules and suggestions to
decrease laborer presentation to this deplorable scourge but still many people are being victimized
their hands are tied up mouths are taped out to face the reality of what they are living through (OSHA
2015). OSHA s paradigm incorporates the following elements: management commitment and
employee involvement, hazard analysis or assessment, hazard controls, employee training, and
recordkeeping and evaluation (McPhaul, London, Lipscomb, 2013). As mentioned, these elements are
basic guidelines in constructing a program, but more specific measures are needed to address specific
precursors that contribute to the occurrence of violence and bullying. This would assist in forming the
best strategies to remedy workplace violence and incivility.
Hatred in the work environment breeds various issues for workers. For example, representatives
working in a negative situation will probably discover issues with confidence and low profitability.
Also, a negative work environment can prompt high representative turnover rates. To build energy in
the work environment, workers must to make a positive workplace and do what it takes to maintain
and cultivate this culture. According to Yoder wise (2011), the definition of violence includes overt
and covert behavior ranging from offensive threatening language to homicide (Yoder Wise, 2011,
p.498). Violence can be noted as the general term that represents lateral aggression,

The World Of Doublespeak Analysis
What is doublespeak? Is it a useful and the language should be using? Possibly people will come up
with different opinions and suggestions of doublespeak. Some people will say that doublespeak is bad
and people should avoid using it; for example, in Lutz s essay, The World of Doublespeak, Lutz wrote
about the negative aspects of doublespeak. He defines doublespeak as, language that pretends to
communicate but really doesn t (Lutz/P.347). In some case he is right as doublespeak can make things
sinful, virtuous; something terrible, be wonderful, and so on. However, doublespeak is a powerful
communication skill; People should be familiar with it and be able to use it. It would be as dangerous
as Lutz mentions in his article when people used ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
His main argument on doublespeak is that the doublespeak misleads the audience. This is pretty much
true. The human s recognition can be easily changed by the uses of language that their information
comes from. For example, once the news reporter called a terrorist, the freedom fighters, most of the
audiences who feel less fear and anxiety. Although, what the terrorist are really are killing people and
forcing innocent people to group suicide with them, when their title change some of the audiences will
easily justify the terrorists behaviors. There s another example of doublespeak s dishonesty; when a
person with money and authority, for example, the Prime Minister, force a regular citizen by treated
them. It would sound very bad when a people says that the Prime Minister threated a citizen, but it
will sound nothing if people says that the Prime Minister made a deal with the regular citizen, and in
most case it this really happened the journalist would use doublespeak and change threat to deal or
some positive words. Due to the way, doublespeak can change the reality of something it is like
political tools that lead to dishonesty and trust issues, but that s also the reason why people should

Writing Programs On A Block Programming Environment
I am writing to find out whether writing programs in a block programming environment is more
effective compared to a high level language. I will look at both block programming environments and
high level languages by researching and explaining what each of them are but also by giving examples
of programs made using them and by focusing on both the advantages and disadvantages of writing
programs in these ways. I will compare the two together and decide whether they are suited to
complex or simple situations and also as well as this will look at whether the programmer needs
knowledge on how to create a program using them. Computer languages are used to create programs
and are set of instructions which the computer uses to run a program. There are a lot of computer
languages however, they all have different features. One of them is high level language. The advantage
of using high level language is that it s person friendly, so humans can understand it easily as it s
written in text which means that it s also easier to write and maintain. High level language is also
portable and can work across different CPU families and as well as this it supports a wide range of
data types. An another advantage of using it is that it programs faster and takes less time to code. A
disadvantage of using high level language to program is that it needs to be translated into machine
code before it can be executed so that the CPU can run it as computers only use and understand binary
data. This can

Computer Science And Telecommunications Equipment Essay
Introduction
We all have experienced the inconvenience that arises when we start connecting peripherals to a
computer, or when we connect other electronic devices, with a lot of cables that becomes difficult to
control. Then we start to think how easy it would be if all these connections were done using a
different way from the physical cables, like infrareds, radio or microwaves.
The companies of computer science and telecommunications needed to develop an opened, low cost
interface to make easier the communication between devices without using cables. This is the origin of
the technology which key name is Bluetooth . This is a fact nowadays, but now another problem arises
and is that there are a lot of standards and technologies, incompatible between them. What we need
now is a universal, valid device for the connection of all kinds of peripheral, and that works in a
transparent way for the user. This is Bluetooth.
Opposite to other current technologies, like infrared promoted by the IrDA (Infrared Data Association)
or DECT, Bluetooth has the support of the industry of computer science and telecommunications,
which in some way guarantees the success. Although there is a high number of manufacturers who
incorporate the interface IrDA in their telephones, included Ericsson, Motorola and Nokia, the use
turns out to be frustrating for many users who treat without success to download information from
their PC or PDAs to their mobile telephones, or vice versa. The

  • 2. A Research On Anxiety And Phobias Anxiety and phobias can be induced via mechanisms involving a variety of stimuli. Fear inducing stimuli can trigger the formation of fear memories via classical conditioning that can be reconsolidated if the reminder of the stimuli or the specific fear associated stimulus itself is present. Recently, as well as over years of research, efforts have been made to understand the manner in which the fear memory pathways are consolidated and paved with the goal of learning how to inhibit or undermine the reconsolidation of such pathways. Knowledge obtained through experimentation involving a noradrenergic beta blocker, propranolol HCl, has demonstrated that this pharmacological antagonist acting against beta adrenergic receptors present in the amygdala can disrupt the fear memory pathway. Although this information has been helpful in understanding the circuitry of fear memories and the role of inhibition in such pathways, it has also led to more questions pertaining to clinical applications of drugs such as propranolol HCl. In fact, Marieke Soeter and Merel Kindt sought to understand the role of propranolol HCl in impeding the reconsolidation of fear memories in a group of spider phobic women in a recent study. Throughout this analysis, the purpose, research methods, results, conclusions, potential problems, and future directions of this study will be considered. To begin, production of the study required knowledge of fear memory and its role in the brain. As with any memory, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Greatest Known Prehistoric Individual There is much information that is unknown to many about the world. It is reasonable that discovery would fascinate many because of the ability to gain knowledge about the world. Learning about ancestors can bring knowledge about how people in the past had lived and how it can be used to compare today s society and culture. Written documents enhance the ability to understand the past. These references are not available before the activity writing and recording was done. This time period before writing and recording is called prehistory. In order to understand this period, one would obtain knowledge from research done by evolutionary biologists archaeologists. There was an evolutions for our ancestors called Homo sapiens. There was a paleolithic era and a Neolithic era that is significant with the transition to agriculture. When archaeologists had discovered a skeleton of a woman who died 3.2 million years ago, they had found the world s best known prehistoric individual. This skeleton was put under the named Lucy. The skeleton was the best known prehistoric individual because it is the most complete and preserved skeleton of any human ancestor. Lucy s species had the ability to use dexterous hands to use tools and carry objects, which may be Lucy and her species was able to survive better than other species. Similar to history, human ancestors are significant because there is the desire to learn more about the past. After the Earth was created, the first living ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Juxtaposition In Jonah In Jonah 4, we saw that when you run without God s love, God runs to make you love Him so that you will begin to love people the way God loves people more than anything. Jonah became vehemently angry when God spared Nineveh. He prayed, which is a good thing, but how he prayed leaves quite a bit to be desired: 3 Therefore now, O LORD, please take my life from me, for it is better for me to die than to live! The LORD is not going to allow His servant to have this wrong attitude, so He confronts Jonah with a question: 4 Then the LORD said, Is it right for you to be angry? This is a conversation between God and Jonah. We re third party. Jonah is saying to God, I m mad that You spared the Ninevites and forgave them and showed Your love and mercy! God responds by asking Jonah a question: Is it right for you to be angry? So what would ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... What does Jonah do here? He made himself a little shelter and watches, pouting, he s still mad! What does it mean ~ till he might see what would become of the city ~ it means that he is still holding out hope that GOD changes His mind and lets them have it! I hope they start doing evil things again so You can blast them into oblivion! That s Jonah! He has absolutely no love for these people! He s running without God s love. And God is not going to let up on him any more than He s going to let up on you and me until we get hearts like God s ~ and start loving people like God loves people! The rest of this story demonstrates how God is so creative in the way that He deals with people. Look how He deals with Jonah in verse 6 ~ 6 And the LORD God prepared a plant and made it come up over Jonah, that it might be shade for his head to deliver him from his misery. • 5. Comparing Japanese and American Diets Essay examples Comparing Japanese and American Diets The typical diet of the average Japanese citizen is much healthier than that of an average American citizen. The Japanese diet is vastly different than the common western diet in terms of ingredients used, portion size, preparation, and relationship between its users and their food. While Americans commonly opt for unhealthy food high in calories, fat, cholesterol, and sodium, many people of Japan benefit from their healthy choice of rice, fish, vegetables, and soy products. The Japanese style of preparing and serving food is also very intricate and deliberate, which encourages diners to truly appreciate their food, instead of rushing through each meal without much thought, as done in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The health of both overweight and obese people lies in jeopardy due to the extra stress placed on the body, especially the heart, due to the high amount of excess fat they carry with themiv. Being overweight or obese increases a person s risk for diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, some types of cancer, stroke, and several other devastating ailments. The percentage of the obese population in the United States has risen from 23% to its present day rate of 30% in only eight yearsv. This skyrocketing trend is most likely related to the increase in portion sizes and calories at many American restaurants, the rising level of stress and expectation during the average workday, and the logarithmic increase in fast food restaurant options over the last 20 years. To understand how the Japanese diet supersedes the typical American diet in numerous health issues, several aspects of the diets must be evaluated. The staples of a typical Japanese diet differ dramatically from the centerpieces of the average American diet. In Japan, the main dietary staple is rice, which only has approximately 100 calories per half cup serving, a negligible amount of fat, and a very low amount of sodium. Since rice serves as the nutritional core of almost every meal, this diet offers consistency and balance to its users. Many Japanese people eat twice as much fish as red meat, and since fish is high in protein while low in saturated fat, fish is a healthier ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Iran And Nuclear Weapons Treaty Dating back to the 1950s, Iran was interested in having its nuclear program (NTI, September 2015). Iran received assistance from the United States through the US Atoms for Peace program. This is a program announced by the United States at the UN in 1953 to share nuclear materials with other countries and states for peaceful purposes. Although Iran ratified the Non Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons Treaty (NPT) in 1970, the Shah might already have ambitions for developing nuclear weapons (NTI, September 2015). After the Islamic Revolution of 1979, in which the Shah was overthrown, the United States discontinued its support regarding Iran s development of its nuclear program (Thompson, November 20, 2013). The United States worried that Iran could use the uranium to develop atomic or nuclear bombs. However, Iran claimed that the nuclear power will be used for peaceful purposes only. In 2003, uranium, the necessary material needed to make nuclear bombs, was found at a plant in the city of Natanz by inspectors from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). A temporary stop on nuclear enrichment was made. The enrichment resumed in 2006 after Iran continued its nuclear program (Thompson, November 20, 2013). The international community started to react against Iran nuclear program (Thompson, November 20, 2013). A sanction against Iran was passed by the UN Security Council after Iran did not stop its nuclear program. Sanctions could be said to be both effective and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. The Effects Of Make Up And Body Image This persuasive essay is going to be on the effects of using, and problems with make up and body image on teenagers. These affect teenager s self esteem and make the teens have a vision of being perfect in every way. Most teens now have a vision of the body image that models and celebrity induce and some teenagers think if they are anything less than these front cover models they are ugly. One website explains body image as Body image is how you view your physical self including whether you feel you are attractive and whether others like your looks. When people feel their body is ugly or that they are too short or that they don t look like an Instagram model it makes us feel valueless or weird. The words we should be using are unique or beautiful; we are all different and aiming to be the same as someone else isn t right. One of the main problems with make up is that most teenagers use make up to hide their acne and spots but over time this can increase amount of spots meaning more make up is used and a chain reaction occurs. Make up is also quite expensive and can be used up very quickly. Make up is mostly used to improve someone s looks because they are self conscious and I think it s good that people feel more confident while wearing make up but you should be able to accept the way you look and feel great about yourself. If everyone just gave a compliment a day no one would feel ugly and we wouldn t have standards or this image of how we could look better. A further ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Role of Private Bankers and Wealth Managers Jpz777 02/19/2013 Order # A2086484 With the global economy still struggling to fully recover from the devastating effects of a sustained recession, the role of private bankers and wealth managers has taken on a renewed sense of significance, as these professional money managers may be able to help individuals and families rebuild their shattered finances. A competent and qualified wealth manager is capable of developing a prudent investment strategy which is customized to best suit an individual client, transforming simple liquid assets into the engines driving continual prosperity. In order to maximize a client s return on investment (ROI) ratios, it is important for wealth managers to perform due diligence by poring through banking records, transaction histories, investment portfolios, and other factors of their financial health to determine the optimal money management and investment strategy for their particular needs. This process is integral to the overall philosophy of Asset Liability Management (ALM), a term which denotes the adaptation of the portfolio management process to handle the presence of various constraints relating to the liabilities of an investor (Amenc, Martellini, Milhau Ziemann, 2009), because recognizing a client s limitations is essential to helping them realize their potential. The domino theory held that a communist victory in one nation would quickly lead to a chain reaction of communist takeovers in nearby states. In Southeast Asia, the United States government used the domino theory to justify its support of a non communist in South Vietnam against the communist government of North Vietnam. • 11. Analysis Of Mandeville s Travels And Bisclavret Monsters have always fascinated readers because of their mysterious origins and motives. These strange and unknown characteristics lead us to ask questions and really think about how humans justify their actions and consider what is and isn t moral. Monsters also help us come to a conclusion about who we are as people in a functioning society. In the works of Mandeville s Travels and Bisclavret, the authors help us discover who we are to unify us as a community, give us a sense of security, and identifying monstrous qualities amongst people and creatures. In Mandeville s Travels, John Mandeville tells us his stories of the discovery of the many monsters he finds across the world. Through his stories we discover who we are as people through his monsters. His monsters tell us what we are not, and by doing this he tells us who we are, educated, civilized, kind, and caring people. In Mandeville s first encounter with a monster, the Melk are described as incredibly cruel people who take pleasure in murder and making other people suffer, There are wicked and cruel folk there too. For they have no delight or pleasure in anything except slaughtering people to drink their blood. And the man who can kill the greatest number of men is the most respected and worthiest among them. (Mandeville, 134). Through this explanation we understand how bizarre of a ritual this is because no one in their right mind would take such pleasure in taking someone s life. • 12. Emotions And The Human Race There are many answers to why emotions are important. Emotions serve several purposes. Emotions play a vital role in how we think and behave. Emotions influence our actions, our outlook, and our personal characteristics. Emotions help us grow and survive. Emotions help us make decisions. Emotions help people understand one another. The list goes on and on because emotions are key to the existence of the human race. Without emotions the human race would be unable to function physically or mentally. According to the evolutionary approach to emotions, emotions are very important. They are the key to animal and human survival. Evolution states that emotions are passed on through genetic replication. It forms bases of behavior. Without ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Hardwired emotions are associated with the nervous system. It s detection of stimuli and recognition of stimuli helps to decide what to do and then do it. Without this we would not be able to respond to emotional encounters. For example, we need the stimulus, to thalamus, to emotion and response to be able to react when we see a man with a gun. Without this brain and body connection to emotions, you wouldn t be able to respond to threatening situations, decreasing your chances of survival. The biological approach to emotions is important because it connects the brain to the body in order to help further the survival of a species through interpretation of a situation and reacting to it. The cognitive approach to emotions explains how people s emotions depend on their appraisal of an occurrence. Appraisal of a situation can determine the relevance of a situation. There are two types of appraisal, primary and secondary appraisal. They can help determine whether a situation is beneficial to someone and if so how they might benefit from the situation or if a situation is dangerous and if so how to cope. Appraisals are quick. The cognitive part of this is the emotion that occurs from the situation. For example, when you feel something, rather than just reacting quickly, reflecting on what appraisal you made leads you to that feeling. If you change the appraisal, you can change how you feel. The feeling attached to that appraisal determines ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 13. The Greatest Day Of My Life Everyone needs some form of escape from reality. While this varies from person to person, with the entertainment business booming, it is safe to infer that many find their comfort with movie theatres. Many of these people like to be engulfed by the story of their movie. My escape, however, comes from just being inside the theatre. There is something magical about theatres that keeps bringing me back. The first time I vividly remember going to the movies was when the second Harry Potter movie released. I finally watched the first movie on our brand new DVD player and read the four books that had been released. When the Saturday came to go to the Edwards in Irvine, I woke up extra early to make terrible pancakes for everybody (this is also a time when I wanted to be a chef). I begged my parents to take to me to the nearby 7 11 to buy all the candy that we were going to sneak in the theatre. I knew that this was going to be the greatest day of my life. While I know now my parents were reluctant to spend all that money, I know that today they would not change a thing. Going to the movies in the early 2000 s for my family meant more than just watching a movie. With my mother working two jobs and my father deploying every other year to different parts of the world as a Marine, these Saturdays were a very rare occasion. Not only do I get to watch a movie, I get to spend a whole day with my family hopping from movie to movie. There were no fights, no problems, and no worries. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 15. Speech On Graduation Speech Good Morning, parents, friends, and last but not least to my fellow Graduates of Monroe High School. It is an honor to stand before you all to deliver this speech for such a special occasion. To the graduates, today is a very bittersweet moment for us all, as this ceremony marks the transition from High School to college, the military, or the job industry. Let me begin by saying I am extremely proud of the growth we have made as a class from our freshman year until this point. Over the course of our four years in high school, we have matured into young adults ready to take on the world. While each of our paths were different, we ve each weathered the storm and I am pleased to say that we ve made it! • 16. Persuasive Essay On The Importance Of The Internet Every one of us living in the twenty first century has used the internet or have at least known about it. The internet is crucial to our daily lives now, it not just a simple fad that gets forgotten in a week or two, but a tool that we utilized every day. The number of benefits that comes from the internet is uncountable, for example with the aid of the internet we now have instantaneous access to work, entertainment, medical, and countless more. Though that may change with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Chairman Ajit Pai proposing to end net neutrality or also known as the open internet. Net neutrality was designed to keep the internet, open, fast, free, and safe from prominent Internet service providers (ISP) companies like Verizon, Comcast, and TimeWarner from trying to charge more for speed, and specific website access, something that is and should be free from the beginning. One author of the article Net neutrality: needed or not? states that Net neutrality is about protecting the status quo that is the open Internet. On many levels, the term open Internet is redundant. If it weren t open, it wouldn t be the Internet. He is right the internet would not be the same if everyone did not have equal access because of companies trying to profit. Others, however, are saying that there is no need for having net neutrality because it is unwanted and hindering the markets from being able to rise sufficiently. • 17. Enough Is Enough Alain De Botton When is Enough, Enough? In his chapter Equality, Expectation, and Envy of his book Status Anxiety, Alain de Botton analyzes the social anxieties of people. In his article, Botton explains the possible causes of these dilemmas, and how these social issues affect our generation today. Throughout the chapter, Botton discusses peoples longing to be better, the impact of equality on the world, and the realistic results of high expectations and hopes. Although modern society seems to have had a tremendous improvement of resources over many generations, people fear that enough is not enough. Society strives for more and better things, even when they already have more and better things. Botton explains that we decide our wants and set our limits by comparing ourselves to our reference groups (Botton 25) A reference group is an assemblage of people in similar conditions as our own. We suddenly become hateful and envious when someone that we correspond and relate to is more dominant and successful than us in whatever way. In addition to comparisons and envy, Botton discusses how we only compare ourselves to people in our reference groups. In our society, it is easy to know when someone may have had more or ... Slaves were not considered people and lived a life of servitude; they could not build their way up to a higher position. Wilson starts by pointing out the racial inadequacies in society using the scene where Lymon and Boy Willie go to collect their wood, Me [Lymon] and Boy Willie got away but the sheriff got us. Say we was stealing wood. They shot me in my stomach (Wilson 37). The police assume because the men are black that they are stealing the wood. Discrimination, in the end, is the long build up of misunderstandings between people who at first glance seem to be unsimilar. This is shown by the incident with the wood. The police believe that Boy Willie and Lymon are stealing the wood, even though they were given permission to take some of the wood for themselves. By assuming that they are thieves, they draw a line between blacks and whites. They then spread this assumption to others who conclude the same thing which further strengthens the division. This leads to entire populations hating other populations from one misunderstanding. Hatred carries influence, and hatred is a powerful tool that Wilson shows that the whites dominate. • 29. The Juvenile Justice System Is Creating A Criminal Class Such reactions and critiques of the juvenile justice system enforce the notion that the juvenile system is creating a criminal class. Black s theory states that patterns of relationships between the parties involved in a case predict the styles and forms of social control, relationships between intimates would result in more informal handling of cases. Law and formal control arise when informal control is weak and unavailable. Legal control by the state develops when social control of families, schools, and communities is inadequate. Cases are treated more or less formal or informal depending on the amount of family control over juveniles (Staples, 1987). It is no surprise that blacks are overrepresented in the juvenile justice system like they are in the adult system, hence the idea of the juvenile system as just a second class mini criminal court (Sampson and Laub, 2003). Changes to the juvenile court came about as the same time changes occurred to American families, more specifically, divorce. In homes where children were living with both biological patterns, there was more social control and less need for law. In single parent households, there is less social control. Although, what the terrorist are really are killing people and forcing innocent people to group suicide with them, when their title change some of the audiences will easily justify the terrorists behaviors. There s another example of doublespeak s dishonesty; when a person with money and authority, for example, the Prime Minister, force a regular citizen by treated them. It would sound very bad when a people says that the Prime Minister threated a citizen, but it will sound nothing if people says that the Prime Minister made a deal with the regular citizen, and in most case it this really happened the journalist would use doublespeak and change threat to deal or some positive words. Due to the way, doublespeak can change the reality of something it is like political tools that lead to dishonesty and trust issues, but that s also the reason why people should learn double ... • 36. Writing Programs On A Block Programming Environment I am writing to find out whether writing programs in a block programming environment is more effective compared to a high level language. I will look at both block programming environments and high level languages by researching and explaining what each of them are but also by giving examples of programs made using them and by focusing on both the advantages and disadvantages of writing programs in these ways. I will compare the two together and decide whether they are suited to complex or simple situations and also as well as this will look at whether the programmer needs knowledge on how to create a program using them. Computer languages are used to create programs and are set of instructions which the computer uses to run a program. There are a lot of computer languages however, they all have different features. One of them is high level language. The advantage of using high level language is that it s person friendly, so humans can understand it easily as it s written in text which means that it s also easier to write and maintain. High level language is also portable and can work across different CPU families and as well as this it supports a wide range of data types. An another advantage of using it is that it programs faster and takes less time to code. A disadvantage of using high level language to program is that it needs to be translated into machine code before it can be executed so that the CPU can run it as computers only use and understand binary data. This can ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 38. Computer Science And Telecommunications Equipment Essay Introduction We all have experienced the inconvenience that arises when we start connecting peripherals to a computer, or when we connect other electronic devices, with a lot of cables that becomes difficult to control. Then we start to think how easy it would be if all these connections were done using a different way from the physical cables, like infrareds, radio or microwaves. The companies of computer science and telecommunications needed to develop an opened, low cost interface to make easier the communication between devices without using cables. This is the origin of the technology which key name is Bluetooth . This is a fact nowadays, but now another problem arises and is that there are a lot of standards and technologies, incompatible between them. What we need now is a universal, valid device for the connection of all kinds of peripheral, and that works in a transparent way for the user. This is Bluetooth. Opposite to other current technologies, like infrared promoted by the IrDA (Infrared Data Association) or DECT, Bluetooth has the support of the industry of computer science and telecommunications, which in some way guarantees the success. Although there is a high number of manufacturers who incorporate the interface IrDA in their telephones, included Ericsson, Motorola and Nokia, the use turns out to be frustrating for many users who treat without success to download information from their PC or PDAs to their mobile telephones, or vice versa.
