Essay Environmental Protection
Writing an essay on the topic of environmental protection can be quite challenging due to the
complexity and breadth of the subject matter. Firstly, it requires a comprehensive understanding
of various environmental issues such as climate change, pollution, deforestation, habitat
destruction, and biodiversity loss. These topics often involve intricate scientific concepts and
data analysis, which can be daunting to research and interpret accurately.
Furthermore, addressing environmental protection in an essay requires a deep exploration of the
causes and consequences of environmental degradation. This involves delving into socio-
economic factors, political dynamics, and cultural attitudes that contribute to environmental
problems. Analyzing these factors and proposing effective solutions demands critical thinking,
creativity, and interdisciplinary knowledge.
Moreover, crafting a compelling essay on environmental protection entails synthesizing
information from diverse sources, including scientific studies, policy documents, news articles,
and expert opinions. This process requires strong research skills to gather relevant and reliable
information while critically evaluating the credibility and biases of different sources.
Additionally, communicating complex environmental issues effectively in writing requires
clarity, coherence, and persuasive argumentation. It involves structuring the essay logically,
presenting evidence convincingly, and engaging the reader with a compelling narrative or
argument. Balancing scientific rigor with accessibility to a general audience can be challenging
but is essential for conveying the urgency and importance of environmental protection.
In conclusion, writing an essay on environmental protection is a demanding task that requires a
deep understanding of scientific, social, and political aspects of environmental issues, strong
research and critical thinking skills, and effective communication abilities. It is a topic of
immense importance and complexity, demanding careful consideration and nuanced analysis to
address effectively.

The Arabian Nights And The Tale Of The Merchant And

Throughout history, many pieces of literature such as novels and poems have been
translated from a variety of languages in order to show the stories to different
cultures. Although the translations are quite accurate, many times the diction is
changed based on the way the translator personally interprets the story as well as the
message he or she wants to portray to their target audience in favour of their own
culture (Sabouri and Karimzadeh, 123). An example of this is The Arabian Nights
where the authors of the stories are unknown and were all translated from Arabic to
many languages including English. Even though it was written through one
perspective, once translated, the meaning was modified to promote the Western
perspective of the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Moreover, in The Three Apples, a man kills his wifedue to his suspicion that his wife
cheated on him. The slave who is just a stranger, that the husband believes the wife
cheated on him with, remains safe and unpunished. Therefore, it is shown that
women are automatically seen as unfaithful by their husbands and their society since
even her own father is on her husband s side. After the woman is killed, the father
realizes it was a mistake but still protects the husband. Furthermore, in The Tale of
the Merchant and his Wife as well as in The Three Apples, women are portrayed as
helpless and powerless victims. In the Tale of the Merchant and his Wife, the man
takes the animals advice and decides to brutally beat his wife in order to stop her
from asking him questions. She could not stand up for herself, eventually she even
decided that it was her fault and mistake not to listen to the husband. Additionally, in
The Three Apples, the woman is murdered by her husband at the end of the story,
only because he believed that she cheated on him and thought she was unfaithful. Not
only was the woman defenceless against the man but she did not even try to defend
herself. This is how the West saw the Eastern women. In contrast, in all three stories it
is apparent that men are extremely violent, cruel and controlling which is another
common stereotype. Firstly, in The Lady and

stage as their relationship is based on love. Their relationship is secure attachment
because they appear to trust each other and Will felt comfortable sharing his feelings

they end up choosing different university. The negative outcomes from this

relationship could collapse due to the differences of their experiences. Upon breaking

O The Fifteenth Letter Of The Alphabet Analysis
O, it is the only letter in the alphabet that looks the same no matter which way it s
viewed. It s all about perspective. To a poor man the middle class is riches, but
compare the middle class to the wealthy and they consider themselves poor. Life is
a matter of perspective. Deriving from the Phoenician and ancient Semitic
alphabet... for the word eye , O the fifteenth letter of the English alphabet is the eye
through which we see the world. Like O, life is a cycle without an omega. We live
and we die, but life never ends. Many religions believe that there is a soul that
moves on to another place, e.g. heaven or hell, after death. Others believe that after
death you are reborn as another being. The death of one thing can mean the life of
another. This phenomenon can be observed when looking at a food chain; at the
very bottom is grass, which is consumed by insects, insects are consumed by rats,
rats are then consumed by snakes, which is eaten by hawks, and when the hawk
dies it nourishes the soil allowing for the grass to grow, and the cycle continues.
Newton s Conservation of Matter states that matter can t be created or destroyed ,
therefore the atoms that compose our bodies were made from other matter before.

The Battle of Algiers and The Algerian Insurgency Essay
French Algeria is now called Algeria and won its independence from its colonial
power, France. The two political communities in French Algeria were the French
citizens and the Algerian people. The Algerian people were under French rule for
over one hundred years from 1830 to 1962 when they were given their independence
and recognized by France. The events of November 1, 1954, marked the birth of the
National Liberation Front (FLN) (Cherian). The Muslim population is the part of the
population that felt isolated and they wanted more political autonomy. The Muslim
population formed a secessionist insurgencybecause they wanted to break away from
the ruling party to create their own country or nation away from French occupation

This was their targets for the start of the insurgency on November 1st.They would
walk up shoot the policeman in the head or shoot him in the chest and double tap
in the head to insure that the officer was killed. The FLN had to change tactics
when the French military became involved especially when they were on strike to
gain UN approval for an Algerian nation free from France but the French Army
forced them to their jobs and work. They instituted a curfew and checkpoints
between the two parts of Algeria where the French citizen were and the Algerian
people were housed. They then instituted bombs after their homes were bombed and
burned killing their family members and children. The FLN then built purse bombs
to attack the French civilians at local areas such as a restaurant, airport, and dance
club. They also started to attack the military when threatened and hid weapons in the
French occupied territory to attack the policemen. The French civilians were also
tired of friends and family getting killed so they started to attack Algerian children
whenever they saw them. The French citizens almost killed a young boy by trampling
and kicking him when he was on the ground until the police pulled the child to safety.
The Algerian insurgency used the strategy that Mao developed and perfected but
every nation or country has to tailor their strategy based on the cultural and ethnic
traditions and background. The
Principles . Principles In Community Development Are Used
Principles
Principles in community development are used to achieve overall goals and
achieve results (Checkoway 1995). Jim Ife has identified 32 principles of
community development that are seen as critical components and can be useful to
develop a framework for evaluating community development (Ife 2016). Many of
Jim Ife s principles are being acted upon in this case study such as Addressing
disadvantage and inequality, linking the global and the local, valuing local processes,
valuing local skills and relationship and dialogue.
Relationship and Dialogue is one of Jim Ife s process principles. Community
development essentially focuses on process rather than the outcome (Ife 2016).

Effective control requires ongoing structures and processes. Effectively community
control requires adequate resources, including income, material resources and
knowledge and strong skills base (Kenny and Connors 2017). This definition is
reflected on in the case study as the residents are teaching and learning from each
other. This enables them to use their own resources to develop a small business that
operates from an office in the estate. By developing a business and strategy plan, the
residences are taking control of their own development. The members of the estate
have set up these structures and plans, which enables them to have ongoing progress
for the future.
Healy refers to community development as a set of approaches focused on
understanding individuals as part of a community and on building the capacity of
that community to address the social, economic or political challenges facing its
members (Healy 2012). One of the adults was a graphic designer in his country of
origin. Through the access of computers he was able to expand on his knowledge
and learn how to create web designs. He then was able to share his knowledge with
others in the community to start up the business. Healys definition has been applied
to the case study as he community came together to build a economic future for their
estate.
Paolo could continue to engage all aspects of the community,
What Are The Stereotypes Of White Males
When people hear the word stereotype, they usually think of black people,
Mexicans, Native Americans, women, and other races. Most people do not think
there could be a stereotype against white males. People usually think that it would be
the white male that would stereotype other races and not be stereotyped themselves.
The truth is that white males get stereotyped just as much, if not more, as other
races. White males have been categorized as hateful, major racists, skinheads, and
over privileged. In today s society, a white male can t criticize any other racewithout
fear of being called a hater or a racist . One of the biggest forms of racismtowards the
white male is what the government calls Affirmative Action. Affirmative... Show

It means that a white male could have a better interview and be better qualified for
a job, but a minority would still get the job just so the business could reach the
quota. Affirmative Action is just not limited to businesses, it also applies to
colleges. Many colleges say right on their application that they have a diverse
student body. This stereotype comes from many years ago when there was slavery,
and white males were mean to certain races. Other races, specifically African
Americans and Native Americans, learned what the whites did to their great great
grandparents and feel anger towards the whites and think that even this generation
of whites can be racists. A lot of this stereotype also comes from the Holocaust. The
Germans, who were white males, wanted to get rid of all other races. They had no
value for human life, as they killed millions of people just to cleanse the earth of
other races. I can see how this would give other races a bad impression of white
males. The truth is this did not include all of the white male population, and it
happened over a generation ago. Our values have vastly changed since then, and I
think that the majority of white males really want to get along with other races.
This stereotype, like all stereotypes, has a negative effect on everyone involved.
White males will always be haunted by and blamed for what their ancestors did, and
other races will prosecute them for it. Hate for whites by black

Essay about New Learning Strategies for Generation X
New Learning Strategies for Generation X
Generation X workers resent the labels that have been used to describe them:
slackers, arrogant, disloyal, having short attention spans. In fact, these descriptions
are less likely to reflect the behaviors of individuals in Generation X than the
perceptions of managers who are not attuned to new ways of learning. This Digest
investigates ways in which the learning characteristics of the young adults classified
as Generation X reflect the need for the new teaching and learning strategies
promoted by cognitive scientists, such as learning in context, cooperative learning,
and real world application of knowledge.

Ways of Learning
Life experiences shape the way people learn. The following characteristics, which
have been attributed to Generation Xers, offer insight into new ways of learning and
highlight the need for new approaches to teaching:
Having grown up with both parents working/furthering their education, Xers are used
to getting things done on their own. Hence, they tend to be independent problem
solvers and self starters. They want support and feedback, but they don t want to be
controlled.
Because many of them grew up with computers, Generation Xers are technologically
literate. They are familiar with computer technology and prefer the quick access of
Internet, CD ROMs, and the World Wide Web as their sources for locating
information.
Conditioned to expect immediate gratification, Generation Xers are responsive. They
crave stimulation and expect immediate answers and feedback.
Skeptical of society and its institutions, Generation Xers are focused. As learners, they
don t want to waste time doing quantities of school work; they want their work to be
meaningful to them. They want to know why they must learn something before they
take time to learn how (Caudron 1997, p. 22).
Knowing that they must keep learning to be marketable, Generation

We are constantly surrounded by images of the perfect woman. She is tall, thin
and beautiful. She rarely looks older than 25, has a flawless body, and her hair and
clothes are always perfect. She is not human. She is often shown in pieces a
stomach, a pair of legs, a beautifully made up eye or mouth. Our culture judges
women, and women judge themselves, against this standard. It is forgotten that
beauty pornography , as Wolf says, focuses on underweight models that are usually
15 to 20 years old. Flaws, wrinkles and other problems are airbrushed out of the
picture. Wolf discusses the effect that these standards are having on women in the
workplace. A woman s beauty, or lack of it, can be used against her. In 1986,
Mechelle Vinson lost a sexual harassment case. Vinson was young and beautiful
and carefully dressed. The district court ruled that her appearance counted against
her. (Wolf 38) In Hopkins v. Price Waterhouse, Ms. Hopkins was denied a
partnership because she needed to learn to walk more femininely, talk more
femininely, dress more femininely, and wear makeup . She brought in more
business than any other employee. (Wolf 39) I believe that this book has value and
people from all walks of life should read it. We all need to become much more aware

Hard Times and Charles Dickens
The novel Hard Times by Charles Dickens is a fictitious glimpse into the lives of
various classes of English people that live in a town named Coketown during the
Industrial Revolution. The general culture of Coketown is one of utilitarianism. The
school there is run by a man ready to weigh and measure any parcel of human nature
. This man, known as Thomas Gradgrind, is responsible for the extermination of
anything fanciful and integration of everything pertinent and factual into the young,
pliable minds of Coketown s children. The older characters in the book, and
especially Mr. Bounderby, are examples of how years of leading a utilitarian life can
mold someone into an arrogantly bland and ignorant individual, which I think is one

Starting from the bottom to become a successful owner of multiple businesses
filled this man with pride and conceit. He definitely lived by the mantra; if I can do
it then anyone can. Which of course is false, because not everyone can be the
owner of the factory, someone has to man the machinery. Charles Dickens
obviously created this character with a purpose in mind. He wanted to portray the
greedy business owner that exploits his employees and that is oblivious to any
moral obligation that could be present in an employee/employer relationship.
Dickens wanted to show that for capitalism to work most efficiently there must be
exploitation on the part of decision makers towards employees. In this book,
capitalism is portrayed as the enemy of equality. Miss Louisa, I said I didn t know.
I thought I couldn t know whether it was a prosperous nation or not, unless I knew
who had got the money, and whether any of it was mine. But that had nothing to do
with it. It was not in the figures at all. This quote from Sissy Jupe demonstrates the
prevalent ideology in Coketown of the rationalization of exploitation as sound means
for acquiring wealth. Where I find flaw in this book, is in the character of Mr.
Bounderby. He illustrates a great contradiction. That is, that he believes everyone has
the opportunity to make themselves wealthy, but his success was made possible, or at

Demography s Classic Transition Theory
Demography s classic transition theory furthers the modernization narrative that is
central to this argument. The theory presents a three phase timeline to explain the
reproductive history of all nations. Countries begin in the pre transition phase where
high mortality and high birth rates create slow populationgrowth, which is
considered a traditional society. The second phase is the transition where slowing
mortality rates and high birth rates produce raid population growth. During this stage
birth rate should begin to fall if the country is actively attempting to become a
modern society. In the final stage low birth rates and low mortality rates bring the
population growth back to a slow or stagnant pace, which is a modern society... Show

In contrast, the understanding of factors such as gender to be social constructed and
uniquely situated in cultural contexts enables the political economy theory to explain
how reproduction is constructed differently across time and space. Moreover, the
anthropological foundation of the political economy theory forces such theories to
account for the standard of living in its understanding of positive reproductive
scenarios. A greater understanding of these theories divergent nature occurs when
viewing reproductive systems under both lenses. One reproductive behavior that
appears radically different when compared under both theories is the system of
Birth Spacing in the Congo. Nacy Rose Hunt presents this practice in her article, Le
Bebe en Brousse : European women, African Birth Spacing and Colonial
Intervention in Breast Feeding in the Belgian Congo. Birth spacing was a cultural
practice where women abstained from sexual intercourse for two or three years
while they were breast feeding (Hunt 1988: 404). This practice aided maternal and
infant health and was widely practiced before colonial domination (Hunt 1988: 401).
However, the practice lessened under colonial occupation and created an increase in
population growth. Under the political economy framework the effect of colonialism
and its pro natalist values best explains the
Comparing Orwell s 1984 and Machiavelli s The Prince ...
When examining the totalitarian government of 1984 by George Orwell, a direct
connection can be drawn to the motives and ideals associated with NiccolГі
Machiavelli s The Prince. Machiavelli s support of the political necessity as a means
to remain in power resonate with the government whose aim is to extinguish once
and for all the possibility of independent thought as a way to ensure complete political
orthodoxy within the country (193). Specifically, Machiavellian thought plays an
important part in 1984 as its ideas on reputation, revolution, avoiding hatred, and the
use of fear to control a populace are used by INGSOC in order to maintain complete
control throughout the story. In the following paragraphs, the connections between
these... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of these policies is described when Orwell states It is deliberate policy to keep
even the favored groups somewhere near the brink of hardship, because a general
state of scarcity increase the importance of small privileges (191). This idea of
maintaining constant hardship in order to increase the importance of small actions is
an important tool used by the government in the book. It allows them to garner public
support incredibly easily by means of very small or near inconsequential actions, thus
reducing the chance of revolution. Revolution against the government is further
prevented by the society present in the story. This is due to the fact that although
some citizens decidedly are against the Party, the restrictive atmosphere prevents
them from networking with other like minded individuals. This idea is characterized
well by Winston when he explains that, they talked of engaging in active rebellion
against the Party, but with no notion of how to take the first step . Thus, the
difficulty in creating a popular revolutionary movement is exponentially more
difficult. A final obstacle facing revolutionaries in 1984 is that they do not know
whether or not their ideas represent the majority in the society. Its an incredibly
important point because as Machiavelli points out, whoever conspires always
believes that he will satisfy the people with the death of the prince, but if he believes

Introduction:
The Purpose of this experiment is for the students to learn how to use sodium
borohydride to reduce benzil to its secondary alcohol product via reduction
reaction. This two step reaction reduces aldehydes by hydrides to primary alcohols,
and ketones to secondary alcohols. In order for the reaction to occur and to better
control the stereochemistry and yield of the product, the metal hydride nucleophile
of the reducing agents such as LiH, LiAlH4, or NaBH4 must be carefully chosen.
Being that LiAlH4 and NaBH4 will not react with isolated carbon carbon double

How Did Hernan Cortes Conquer The Aztec Empire
How was Hernan Cortes able to conquer the Aztec empire? How was Hernan
Cortes able to conquer the Aztec empire? The fall of the Aztec Empire was led by
an expedition by Hernan Cortes, a Spanish conquistador, in 1521. Cortes time was
the era of Exploration. He became engrossed with the tales of Christopher Columbus
and decided to join the exploration. Which led him to travel to the Americas and
triumph of the Aztecempire. Such as a prophecy, weaponry, translators, disease and

An Aztec prophecy told of a God, Quetzalcoatl, who promised to return to the empire
and rescue them. Montezuma, the Aztec emperor, believed Cortes was the god who
was returning to take back the Aztec empire. The prophecy described Quetzalcoatl s

Each year, the Totonacs were forced to send hundreds of children to the altars of
Tenochtitlan, a city within the Aztec empire, for sacrifice, therefore their hatred was
prominent. [10] Whereas the Tlaxcalans, had been at war with the Aztecs for about
a century, to the Tlaxcalans, the Spanish represented their only hope. [11] For this
reason, Tlacochcalcatl forged an alliance with CortГ©s. Before his alliances, his
army only had 508 men to conquer the Aztec empire, which had millions of people.
Cortes had 50,000 Tlaxcalans backing him up for the re conquest of Tenochtitlan, as
well as 25,000 combined Indians allies.
Head Trauma Essay
One forceful hit could make the difference between living a long health life, or
dying in a short troubled one. In the violent sport of football, there are many violent
collisions that can lead to head trauma. Head trauma, meaning a concussion varies
from instance to instance. Some can be severe and last six weeks, in comparison
some can only be mild and last one day. Research shows that a repeated series of
concussions can lead to Chronic traumatic encephalopathy(CTE). Chronic traumatic
encephalopathy(CTE) is often found in the retired football player who has played in
the National Football League(NFL). CTE can cause depression, and lead to suicide
/suicidal thoughts or attempts. Essentially CTE comes from having an exceeding
amount of concussions,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These symptoms include double vision blurred or, seeing stars, sensitivity to light or
noise, headache, dizziness or problems with equilibrium, nausea, vomiting, trouble
sleeping, fatigue, confusion, difficulty remembering, difficulty concentrating, or loss
of consciousness (Abreu, Edwards, Spradley,2016). In 2010, the NCAA started to
implement the concussion policy that we see in school all over the country today.
There was a research study done before the policy was implemented to see if school
s concussion policies were in alignment with the NCAAs. They found that most
schools concussions policies were good. However, they were not as safe, as the
policy the NCAA implemented. This opposes a slight problem in concussion
management because, it opens up the possibility for concussions to go unnoticed and
untreated (Baugh, Kroshus, Perry, Bourlas, 2017).
The purpose of this study is to find the current most optimal way to mitigate
concussions. By doing so we hope to also mitigate CTE in the later stages of life. I
hypothesize that an increase in the cervical muscle activation along with the proper
concussion management protocol will decrease the amount of concussions
Inhumane Treatment Of Ex-Convicts In Les Miserables,

The novel, Les MisГ©rables by Victor Hugo, demonstrates the inhumane treatment
of convicts and ex convicts. (Pg. viii) The character Jean Valjean is recently
released from prison and has traveled on foot for many days. Searching for food
and shelter, he goes to many inns. However, he is turned away everywhere he goes.
Valjean is required to show his yellow passport at each town, proclaiming that he is
a dangerous convict. This gives people the right to refuse to give his service.
Therefore, even though he is tired, starving, and harmless, Jean Valjeanis thrown out
onto the streets into the cold night. Eventually, Valjean finds refuge in a small church
within the village. The priest offers him a clean bed and supper. He is kind to Valjean,

It is used in this novel to form a mental image to provide a picture or illustration.
The story opens with a description of Jean Valjean. The reader sees a man of
middle height, stout and hardy, (Pg. 3) The man wears a slouched leather cap half
[hiding] his face, bronzed by the sun and wind, and dripping with sweat. (Pg. 3)
The illustration provides a visual on what the main character looks like. It
suggests that the man has been through a hard time, and that the story may follow
his journey. Once Valjean reaches the town, he tries to ask for shelter from a poor
peasant family. They live in a pretty little one story house with a light in the
window. (Pg. 9) The narrator describes that a table was set in the center of the
room; a brass lamp lighted the coarse white table cloth; a tin mug full of wine
shone like, and the brown soup dish was smoking. (Pg. 9) Another example of
imagery is when he enters the church. Jean Valjean had his knapsack on his back,
his stick in his hand. The imagery offers a description of Valjean from the
perspective of the people in the church, as they see him for the first time. Valjean is
shown as a harsh or sinister with his rough, hard, tired, and fierce look in his eyes, as
seen by the firelight. (Pg.
Skin Confirmations
Only a small fraction of all the viruses that can infect humans commonly involve the
skin; nevertheless, cutaneous manifestations can arise in a plethora of different viral
diseases. Recent decade brought significant advances in the adequate diagnosis and
treatment of various skin viral diseases, and stigma surrounding some of them also
diminished.
In certain instances, specific skin lesions can suggest a specific viral disease, thus
the diagnosis can be established fairly quickly by following appropriate procedures.
Confirmation is usually pursued by one of five general laboratory diagnosis methods:
viral culture, microscopic examination, detection of viral antigens, detection of viral
genetic material (DNA or RNA) or serology.
Pathophysiology ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These DNA viruses are able to replicate well in epithelial cells, also causing
genitomucosal lesions or lesions associated with epidermodysplasia verucciformis (a
rare and heritable genodermatosis).
Secondary viral skin infections
Secondary skin lesions can be seen in infections by viral families such as
paramyxoviruses, togaviruses, retroviruses, picornaviruses and parvoviruses.
Furthermore, a myriad of diverse cutaneous diseases appear to be viral exanthemas,
but no viral etiologic agent has been causatively linked to its appearance (one such
example is pityriasis rosea).
Measles belong to a family of paramyxoviruses and are known to cause erythematous
macular and papular rash that starts behind the ears and over the forehead, and then
spreads to the trunk and extremities. Similar rash is observed in rubella, which a
single stranded RNA virus from the family Togaviridae.
Approximately 90% of patients infected with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)
that is a part of viral family Retroviridae develop skin lesions throughout the course
of the disease. Some of those manifestations can be photodermatitis, prurigo
nodularis, severe psoriasis, Kaposi s sarcoma, as well as recurrent drug
Essay about Mental Disorders
Mental Disorders
The term mental disorder means psycological and behavioral syndromes that
deviate signicantly from those typical of human beings enjoying good mental
health. All that mumbo jumbo means that a person with a mental disorder was a
few cards short of a full deck. This is probably not the persons fault that they are
like this they were just born this way. These people are not all a like. They are not
even in exact classes because all of the classes have not been seperated yet. In most
cases a normal person that has no disorders is afraid of these type of people. This is
because they do not want to turn out the way these people are. A common example of
a mental disorder is down syndrome.

Anxiety disorder include fear of leaving home and parents, excessive shrinking from
contact with strangers, and excessive, unfocused worrying and fearful behavior.
Persuasive developement disorders are characterized by distortions in several
psychological functions, such as attention, perception, reality testing, and motor
movement. An example is infantile autism, a condition marked by unresponsiveness
to other people, bizarre responses, and gross inability to communicate to the others in
the world.
Paranoid Disorder
The central feature of the paranoid disorders in a persons dilusion, for instance that
he or she is being persecuted or conspored against. In other form, the dilusion consists
of unreasonsably jealousy. the person maybe resentful, angry, sometimes violent,
socially an outcast or isolated, seclusive, and eccentric. The disorder usually starts in
middle or late adult life and can be seriously disrupting to social and
maritalrelationship.
Anxiety Disorders
Anxiety is the predominant symptom in two conditions: panic disorder and
generalized anxiety disorder.
In phobias and obsessive compulsive disorders, also considered anxiety disorders,
fear is experienced when an individual tries to master other symptoms. A phobia is an
irrational fear of a specific object, activity, or situation that is so intense that it
interferes with everday life. Obsessions are repetitive thoughts, images, ideas, or
impulses that
Cinematic Techniques In The Film Wizard Of Oz
In the Wizard of Oz, we follow Dorothy, an adolescent girl, who when faced with
the reality of the adult world yearns for a return to her simple childhood. In the first
act of the film we see that Auntie Em and Uncle Henry are unable to prevent the
wicked Miss Gulch from taking Toto away. They are also powerless to protect their
farm and Dorothy from the looming tornado. It is through their helplessness that the
film s explicit meaning is revealed: the inadequacy of adults, and the need for
children to do their own growing up. The directors; Norman Taurog, King Vidor,
Victor Fleming, Mervyn LeRoy, and George Cukor, cleverly conceal the films
explicit meaning using classical cinematic invisibility. However, by looking at the
films cinematographic... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At the beginning of the sequence the camera dollies backwards to reveal Dorothy
and her acquaintances; the Scarecrow, Tin Man, an the Cowardly Lion, staring up
at the large flaming head of the seemingly mighty wizard. By having the camera
move this way the directors and cinematographer are giving the more visual weight
to the Wizard, making him appear important and god like. However later in the
scene, during a three quarter shot of Dorothy and the Oz characters, the camera
dollies backwards and pans to the left to reveal the green curtain where the wizard
is concealed. Having the camera movement finish with the exposure of the green
curtain foreshadows the reveal of the phony wizard. Once the wizard is revealed to
the audience as an ordinary man, the camera too perceives him differently. No longer
are we given camera shots or angles that give the wizard visual importance, but rather
Dorothy and her companions provide the majority of visual weight in the rest of the
sequence. For example, when Dorothy pulls back the curtain to confront the Wizard,
the camera dollies backwards and slightly to the right until all the characters are in the
frame. This unbalanced shot communicates to the audience the inadequacy of the
wizard as Dorothy and her Oz friends push him into the far left of the frame as they
question him, dominating the space in the
Disadvantages Of A Doctor
A doctor is a person who maintains or restore human health through the practice of
medicine. A doctor will diagnose and treat human diseases, injuries, ailments or other
conditions.
A doctor s schedule will be determined based on the kind of medicine they practice.
Some doctors work in hospitals and some work in clinics or polyclinics. However
there are also doctors working in laboratory, those doctors are trying to find a new
cure to diseases.
Typical doctors have very long working hours and they must be ready for
emergencies all around the clock. Doctors in hospitals spends their time in an office
based setting, running tests as well as interpreting those patients. A doctor s job also
includes prescribing medicine and treatments. A doctor... Show more content on

In fact, this type of doctors will face the most stress among the others. These
doctors who work in the laboratory will be asked to make a lot of different cures.
One wrong move and the patient will receive the incorrect medication and this may
result in the patients being in a dangerous state, depending on how their body reacts
to the medication. These doctors must also rush a cure during emergencies. One
example of such emergencies is the SARS breakout. These doctors had to rush out a
cure as soon as possible. Every minute they waste may result in another death. Hence,
they will feel very stress.
3.1 Does the consultation fees determine the quality of a doctor?
Some hospitals are very famous, however there might be some doctors who are
irresponsible in their job. They might find their job boring and not important as they
have been doing the same routine over and over again every day. However, their job
is very important to the patients, as their lives will depend on the doctors. Hence, the
consultation fee might not determine the quality of the doctors
Some clinics might charge high consultation fee only because the medication they
use is very new and developed, but the doctors might not have good qualities. The
doctors might have bad attitude. Some doctors might be very impatient and gets
angry when the patient asked a lot of questions. Some doctors might get irritated
easily and cannot tolerate noises made by children or
The Convergence Of Popular Digital Technology
Like its importance in relation to the new forms of production, the cost is a factor of
how digital is influential in traditional big budget filmmaking like Dawn of the Planet
of the Apes. Following the capture of the actor s movements digital animation is
required to complete the transformation to an ape. While the cost of motion capture
itself is relatively high as it is a newer technology the cost of the animationis now
comparably cheap to when it was first introduced. Evidence of this can be seen in
the technologies convergence in television. Here the budget is naturally more
limited than a Hollywood blockbuster, so the production methods have to be
somewhat cost effective and time efficient. This is particularly true in children s
television, where there is also a need to appeal to a young audience. Hence, the
convergence of popular digital technology is visible here, providing a way of
seeing what has become accepted and so over time more cost efficient, allowing its
use in smaller scale moving image making. For instance, many remakes of classic
children s TV shows are now digitally animated, suggesting this, due to a move from
puppets, stop motion animation, and hand drawn animation. A perfect example is the
digital remake of Thunderbirds, which was animated with the assistance of WETA
Workshop, the special effects company responsible for Dawn of the Planet of the
Apes motion capture (Thunderbirds Are Go: 2015) (Licence! Global: 2016). These
older technologies were

demand for petrochemicals and plastics.
Prime Minister Najib Razak told reporters in Kuala Lumpur that Petronas, as it is
known, will construct a crude oil refinery with a capacity of 300,000 barrels a day, a
naphtha cracker, petrochemicals and polymer facilities in Pengerang, in the country s

Alex Goh, an analyst at AmResearch Sdn. said that Pengerang has been chosen as
the site because of its water depth of up to 26 meters, which is one of the deepest in
Southeast Asia, in a report on May 11. This would make it accessible for very large

The Johor refinery will be bigger than the combined capacity of Petronas s existing

products such as gasoline, jet fuel and diesel for local use and export, he said.

Information from the outside world comes through our senses. The information is
then interpreted, and this interpretation gives meaning to what is sensed. For
example, when you hear your alarm clock, the actual sound you hear is the
sensation. How you construe the meaning of the alarm is your interpretation. If it is
7 a.m. on a weekday, you would probably interpret the alarm as a signal to get
moving and begin the day. However, the same alarm may have a different meaning
on a holiday. You might perceive yourself as an absurd for setting the alarm, or you
might snicker at the alarm and roll over. In both instances, the sensation (the ring)
was the same, but your interpretation changed because of other factors.

Stem-Cell Research Evaluation
Article Evaluation Stem cell research is a very interesting and controversial topic
that many authors and scientists take time to write about. Christopher Robertson is
one such author, who wrote the article Recent Developments in the Law and Ethics
of Embryonic Research: Can Science Resolve the Ethical Problems it Creates .
Robertson provides readers with the information they are looking for and the article
has merit as an example of technical writing. This article discusses three main topics:
the legal background, how scientific progress can resolve ethical issues, and
assessing alternative methods of stem cellresearch. By analyzing the three main
sections it is possible to see the merit of this article.
The first section of the article ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The author Christopher Robertson proposes that the three alternatives come down to
two categories of moral questions. The first is due to under determination . All of the
conflicts come down to things such as the difference between dead and nonviable
embryos or the distinction of killing versus letting die. Robertson states, ...the
discussion must begin from clarification about the underlying factors that establish
our alleged duties to protect living human embryos, and those factors will then
define the contours of permissible scientific practice (Robertson). This quotation is
saying that before any alternatives are used it would be prudent to have established
definitions on these issues. The second category questions whether waiting to find a
moral alternative, that may not even work, is worthwhile instead of working directly
to find cures for diseases. Like the first question scientists and policy makers need to
have a conversation about what is more beneficial for the public(Robertson). To sum
up, this section makes readers think and poses difficult questions which add to the
merit of this excellent article.
In conclusion, this article was divided into three sections. It discussed the legal
background, how scientific progress can solve our ethical problems, and an analysis
of alternative solutions to the controversy of stem cell research. Each of these
sections explained in depth the dilemma that holds scientist back from stem cell
research, and provides thought provoking questions. Overall, the article Recent

Physical Therapy And Mental Therapy
Can you imagine being in pain every day doing daily activities that have to be done?
Your stiff joints, sore muscles, and injured limbs keep you from enjoying life.
Physical therapy can be the answer to cure those problems. Physical Therapists, are
trained in movement and movement disorders and are considered specialists in
musculoskeletal function (Adams). Physical therapists examine patients to diagnosis
possible injuries where pain is occurring and create plans to get them returning to
activity. Physical therapywill help improve mobility, balance, and is a way to avoid
surgery. It is the cost effective way to go and will help speed up recovery and
prevent future injuries to. Physical therapyis a beneficial part of the health field.
Once the physical therapists have diagnosed the injury, they design rehabilitation
programs for their patients. Physical therapy will help patients recover after surgery.

This, coupled with Equianos constant touring to promote the book, the frequent
publishing of his articles in the Public Advertiser, kept his name and his
autobiography constantly relevant. This approach to self promotion was
innovative and in keeping with what Fryer states in Staying Power: The History of
Black People in Britain (1984), he emerged in his forties, as a capable and energetic
publicist: a fluent writer and speaker, a campaigner prepared to travel wherever he
was invited to present the abolitionist cause. (1984, p. 106). It can be further argued
that it is naГЇve to think that Equiano emerged all knowing from a cocoon of
oppression without prior experience in politics. There is overwhelming evidence
supporting that he was well versed in politics. He was an active and vocal member
of black abolitionists the Sons of Africa, and was an intense lobbyist with regular
Parliament attendances, including two personal invitations by the Prime Minister
and the Speaker of the House. This view is supported by Keith A. Sandiford in
Measuring the Moment: Strategies of Protest in Eighteenth Century Afro English
Writing, (1988), in which he mentions that Equiano was a stoic and tenacious
abolitionist that, on 21 March 1788 he presented a petition to her Majesty, Queen

Comparing Romeo And Juliet
From love to death and death for love. Romeo and Juliet the love tragedy of two
rival families. many views and opinions were made on this the movies we re most
viewed for example romeo and juliet from 1968 and romeo and juliet from 2013.
The movies were created at different times and the points of views and ideas were
different as well. From the play of 1968 consist of the leonard Whiting and Olivia
Hussey as main characters and in the 2013 movie consist of Douglas booth and
hailee steinfeld. In the movie of 1968 the movie was older and followed the lines a
little more accurate they took their time and added every line every moment. The
balcony scene and the scene at the party were some of the scenes that had a lot of

For example their masks in the 1968 movie the mask looks old and molded and in
that time line and in the 2013 reason the mask has jewels and clothes and all these
other little effects that you notice. One thing that really caught my eye in the 1968
movie was the scenes were so realistic for example the fighting scene in the
beginning all the family came and they all fought the people ran afraid it was a
real fight between the capulet and the montague they showed how the two family
s were carrying injured and most likely dead capulet and montague. Unlike the
2013 version were only about 6 8 men fight at the market for about 1 minute maybe
even 2. In general the 1968 movie followed the rules a little more on the line. The
2013 version of romeo and juliet was different in many little picky ways. The
movie left out a lot of small details and scenes and lines throughout the movie you
could possible say that the movie was a little more rushed and pretty sloppy. One
comparison from doing research and watching a few scenes of the movie again I
noticed that background music made a pretty big difference the background music in
the kissing scene where romeo and juliet meet is so much more romantic they kiss
with emotion ,and romance the words are said slow and

numerous factors in the environment which could determine variations in the
personalities of different individuals. There are factors which are inherent to the
environment and there are those determined by the manner by which individuals
enter into a particular environment. In much the same way, how an infant s entrance
into the world determines in large part how parents and others will respond. In this
paper particular view will be taken on the matter of timing that an infant is born.

The distinguishing characteristic of Adler s theory is the marked power struggle
between siblings. Personality thus becomes a concept strongly influenced by a basic
urge for attention and respect. At a young age, these same goals are gained from
parents the struggle extends to adulthood as common relations and peers.
Frank Sulloway
For a period, birth order was refuted and phased out from serious study. However,
as a result of Sulloway s release of his own studies, birth order theories gained
respect once again (Paulhus, Trapnell, Chen, 1999). Frank Sulloway follows Adler s
theory in the sense that he also believed sibling differences attributed to birth order
resulted from competition between siblings. Sulloway (1996) held that siblings
utilize differences in size and strength to overpower younger siblings. These younger
siblings in turn resorted to counterstrategies in order to hold their ground against
older siblings. Such a discussion is certainly reminiscent to Adler s own speculations.
However, Sulloway s studies brought in a new dimension to the study of birth order.
It was through his research that the Big Five Personality traits, namely Openness,
Conscientiousness, Extraversion, Agreeableness, and Neuroticism, were introduced
into the study (Sulloway, 2001). Data was gathered reflecting the personality
dispositions of individuals based on birth order. This served to give credibility to this
particular area of
Red Robbery Envelope
Each branch has specific robbery procedure cards inside their Red Robbery
Envelope. Every employee should know where this envelope is located and what
it contains. The envelope contains flash cards with specific duties listed on each
card. After a robbery has occurred, an employee should retrieve the robbery
envelope and distribute the duty cards to employees that are present. Ultimately,
the packet is designed to lighten the load for the employees following a robbery.
These cards provide places for specific information to be completed relating to your
branch. The packet also contains closed signs, description forms, and a checklist for
duties. Once the security officer is notified of a robbery, he or she will initiate
several procedures. Administration is notified, the FBI will be notified and he will

Pensive Bodhisattva And Korean Buddhist Art
Pensive Bodhisattva and Korean Buddhist Art Our lives are closely connected
with an art. People easily regard an artwork as something that is far from our lives,
but it is always around us. Now, I would like to introduce one of Buddhist artworks
of Korea. The title is Pensive Bodhisattva. The artist is unknown. However, it was
made in mid 7th century during the Three Kingdom Period. The dimension of this
artwork is 8 7/8 inch and the medium is gilt bronze. It is located in Gallery 233
among other Korean artworks at the Metropolitan Museum of Art now. Pensive
Bodhisattvahas typical features of the Buddhist artworks. Also, the interesting
aspect is we can see the unique features of the Three Kingdom Period s artwork
through this sculpture. When we see this sculpture at first, the most noticeable
point is the bodhisattva s posture. He sits on the dais and he puts his right leg over
his left leg. The right leg also props his right elbow and his fingers especially the
forefinger and the middle finger touch his right chin and he rests his left hand
neatly on his right ankle. The description of his fingers and toes are very realistic.
When we see the fingers and toes, we can feel how the artist put his or her blood
into sculpting each fingers and toes. However, his posture seems agonizing. When
we take a closer look his face, his eyes are closed and he puts gentle smile on his
lips. For that reason, his posture reminds us his anguish, but at the same time, his
facial expression

The HR department could hold a meeting with the current supervisors or managers to
solicit nominations and post the job announcement on the company s Share Point Site.
Job Offer Process Upon completion of the interviews and the selection process, the
next step of the hiring process requires the HR Specialist to provide a job offer to
the selected candidate. This could be an interesting and possible risky step. With a
large pool of applicants, the organization could offer a signing bonus and relocation
incentives. Due to these positions more skilled and specific, the HR Specialist must
fully understand what the competition has to offer to our applicant. The organization
must be ready and willing to offer detailed benefits, bonuses, and incentives. I would
provide a tentative verbal offer to the applicant. After the applicant accepts the
verbal offer, I would draft a detailed written offer capturing all of the benefits and
incentives being careful that not to violate any local, state or federal laws.
Conclusion
By taking the time to research and understand the different recruitment strategies, this
will provide the organization with the best type of strategy to hire the best qualified

Immigrants In Wisconsin
Wisconsin is a state located in America between the Great Lake and the
Mississippi river which was first explored for France by Jean Nicolet in 1634 and
landed at green Bay. In 1660, a French trading post and Roman Catholic mission
were established near present day Ashland. Generally, we think of Wisconsin as a
pioneer in American mining frontier which include copper, iron ore, lead, and zinc
and also have so many developments even though farming is their basic source of
leaving (Nesbit 1989). Wisconsinentrepreneur used the state s waterways and water
ports for transporting goods to market elsewhere (other states) since it is the leading

Feminist Thinking And Practice Of Feminism Essay
A year ago, few folks were talking about Sheryl Sandberg. Her thoughts on
feminism were of little interest. More significantly, there was next to no public
discussion of feminist thinking and practice. Rarely, if ever, was there any feminist
book mentioned as a bestseller and certainly not included on the New York Times
Best Seller list. Those of us who have devoted lifetimes to teaching and writing
theory, explaining to the world the ins and outs of feminist thinking and practice,
have experienced that the primary audience for our work is an academic sub culture.
In recent years, discussions of feminismhave not evoked animated passion in
audiences. We were far more likely to hear that we are living in a post feminist
society than to hear voices clamoring to learn more about feminism. This seems to
have changed with Sandberg s book Lean In, holding steady on the Times bestseller
list for more than sixteen weeks.
No one was more surprised than long time advocates of feminist thinking and
practice to learn via mass media that a new high priestess of feminist movement was
on the rise. Suddenly, as if by magic, mass media brought into public consciousness
conversations about feminism, reframing the scope and politics through an amazing
feat of advertising. At the center of this drama was a young, high level corporate
executive, Sheryl Sandberg, who was dubbed by Oprah Winfrey and other popular
culture pundits as the new voice of revolutionary feminism. Forbes Magazine
Persuasive Articles on Gun Control Essays
Persuasive Articles on Gun Control
Persuading an audience can be done in several different fashions, one of which is
Hugh Rank s Model of Persuasion. Rank s model states that two major strategies are
used to achieve the particular goal of persuasion. These strategies are nicely set into
two main schemas; the first method is to exaggerate an aspect of something, known
as intensify. While the second is to discredit it, which is referred to as downplay. Al
Franken, Jeffrey Snyder, Harlan Ellison, and George Will, have all written
persuasive articles about gun control. In reading all of the various articles on gun
control by authors, I found George F. Will s The Last Word to be the most
persuasive. Will wrote his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Franken was also able to downplay the usefulness of a firearm by including a series
of sarcastic tips for tragedy in a home. For example, 1. Keep the gun loaded... 2. Put
the gun in an unlocked drawer... 3. Rest assured. 1 Where Franken s article comes
up short is the use of hypothetical numbers to exaggerate and intensify the deadliness
of guns. His sarcasm adds diversity to his piece, but should be used sparingly.
Franken s conclusion causes his argument to lose its effectiveness, after building his
case it just seems ridiculous and out of place.
The least persuasive essay out of the four was Harlan Ellison s An Edge in My
Voice. Ellison presents his argument in a style that seems to me is more of a
disgruntled rambling about both famous and infamous people that die from gun shot,
than an article about gun control. Ellison spends the first few pages asking the reader
if they cried when a certain person died; he begins with famous people such as
Martin Luther King, Bobby Kennedy, and John Lennon, and then moves on to more
obscure examples. Instead of trying to build an argument, Ellison seemed to be more
caught up with anger and the notion of conspiracies. He does however try to use the
intensify technique of Rank s model, to persuade the reader of the horror of deaths
caused by guns and their importance. Although Ellison did try to persuade his
audience in a different manor, I felt it was ineffective at best,
My Target Market For A New Self Propelled, Robotic Lawn
Mower
Every day, hundreds of new products are introduced into the market. When launching
a new product, companies face many difficult decisions such as choosing the optimal
target market. Determining the best target market for a new self propelled, robotic
lawn mower will require proper segmentation, targeting, and positioning. The
consumer market should be divided with demographic and geographic segmentation;
the entrepreneur should target middle aged and elderly homeowners in sweltering
locations; and the company should apply a more for the same positioning strategy.
Demographic and geographic segmentation should be used to view the market
structure. The use of multiple segmentation bases allows for a more accurate analysis
of the market. Demographic segmentation, particularly age and life cycle
segmentation, should be applied on the population. The segments would consist of
children, young adults, middle aged adults, and elderly or disabled individuals.
According to Mintel, higher income households are more likely to purchase DIY
home improvement items such as a robotic lawn mower. Generally, middle aged and
elderly individuals have higher incomes or savings in comparison to the remaining
population; these individuals can afford houses with spacious lawns which require
frequent mowing. Children are dependent on their guardians, while young adults are
more likely to live in temporary housing such as apartment complexes where lawn
mowing is managed by third parties such as
Macular Degeneration Research Paper
Macular degeneration is the leading cause of sight loss in the United Kingdom. It
is usually age related, occurring in 1 in 10 people over 65. In macular
degeneration, the retinal pigment epithelium (RPE) at the back of the macula in the
eye, which supports the rod and cone cells vital to central vision, stops functioning.
This results in the death of rod and cone cells, resulting in the loss of central
vision. There are two types of macular degeneration: wet, and dry. Dry macular
degeneration is the most common type and typically causes central vision loss over
several months or years. Wet macular degeneration is rare, causing central vision
loss in several days or weeks. There is currently no cure for macular degeneration

Yigael Yadin s Archaeological Contributions
Introduction
Biblical Archeology has helped in supporting the historicity of the Bible. Not that
archaeology proves or disapproves the Bible this it does not, it only supports the
history of the Bible. One of the discoveries that support the biblical historicity is the
Dead Sea Scrolls. The Dead Sea Scrolls came from eleven caves, mined over the
course of seven years, over 15,000 documents supporting biblical historicity have
been unearthed at Qumran. One of the archeologist that played an important part in

Not only did he contribute to the discovery and research of the Dead Sea Scrolls
but he also was responsible for unearthing many mysteries that surrounded the
history of Israel at places like Masada, Hazor and Tel Megiddo. In this paper I will
briefly talk about Yadin s life, his archeological achievements and major
contributions to biblical archeology and in doing so will show that Yadin was no
ordinary archeologist but truly was a one of the most influential archeologists
concerning the discoveries as it relates to the history of Israel.
Early Life Yigael Yadin s original name was Yigael Sukenik and he was born March
21, 1917 in Jerusalem. His mother was Chassiya Sukenik and his father was Lipa
Sukenik. Even as a child people remarked how exceptionally beautiful he was and
how remarkable he was at a young age. This would prove to be true later in life. He
was considered as growing up in a middle class Jewish society in far off Lithuania.
His mother, Chassiya had the opportunity to become a respectable businessman s
wife in Bialystok but she had no desire to do so. Chassiya had as far back as her
teenage years intended to become a teacher of Jewish pioneers children among the

Apologetic became a theology, whose purpose is to defend Christianity through the

information that applies to their needs. It is the Christian Apologists responsibility
that they are capable to explain logically why they have their particular religious
beliefs. There exist several scriptures in both the Old Testament and New Testament
that Christian Apologists will use. Such as the few shown here such as Psalm 19:1,
Isaiah 1:18, Romans 1:20 and 1st Peter 3:15. Notice that Psalm 19:1 is in normal font

Symptoms And Symptoms Of Prader Willi Syndrome And

Imagine never feeling full, no matter how much you eat. Imagine also being so
hungry that you eat dog food or even a toy car. That is what can happen to people
with Prader Willi
Syndrome. Prader Willi Syndrome is defined as a rare disorder present at birth that
results in a number of physical, mental and behavioral problems. A key feature of
Prader Willi syndrome is a constant sense of hunger that usually begins at about 2
years of age. [Mayo April 2014]
Although it is unpreventable and often difficult, research and new treatments have
made this disorder more manageable.
Prader Willi Syndrome is known by several other names including Labhart Willi
Syndrome, Prader s Syndrome and Prader Labhart Willi Fanconi Syndrome. It is
often abbreviated as PWS. The first patient described with PWS was in 1887 by
Langdon Down but it was not recognized as a syndrome until 1956, getting its name
from the researchers responsible for identifying it. Although scientists knew what the
disorder looked like, it wasn t until 1981 that high resolution images showed that
patients were missing one section of chromosome 15.
Prader Willi Syndrome is caused by a loss of function of specific genes on
chromosome 15. It usually occurs when there is a deletion in the father s genes. A
deletion is a kind of mutation where part of a chromosome is lost during DNA
replication. In this case, the DNA sequence that is lost during the deletion is
responsible for PWS. In normal births, although
Causes Of American Civil War
There were many causes to the American Civil War. One Major cause of the Civil
War was the Missouri Compromise. This was a cause because people from other
states who were eligible to vote voted that missouri would be a slave state even
though the people living in missouri wanted it to be a free state(The Columbia
Electronic Encyclopedia 1). The Missouri Compromise incident also caused small
battles like Bleeding Kansas(Causes of the Civil 1). One other major cause of the
Civil War was the election of President Abraham Lincoln. The north wanted Lincoln
to become President but the southern states hated the idea of Lincoln coming into

The united states changed a lot after the war. The union did not really change. The
only difference was Lincoln was killed so a new president had to be

left starving so many of them moved to the north(Reconstruction 1). The north also
had to rebuild the things the south destroyed but it was more significant in the
south(Guelzo 1). The reconstruction period lasted for almost 20 years(Guelzo 1).

Homeland Security Vs Homeland Security
Much has been discussed about homeland security and homeland defense regarding
their differences and similarities, but regardless of how the two are related, the fact
remains that they both serve the purpose of protecting and defending America,
making our citizens safe, and to protect the integrity of our infrastructure, rendering
our nation a safe place to live and build family traditions. The ultimate purpose of
both Homeland Defense and Homeland Securityis to protect, defend, and assist with
the safety and security of the citizens of the United States. One purpose specifically
caters to the protection of our citizens in land and the other focuses on the protection
of citizens from overseas.
Homeland Defense operates within the United States and outside the United States to
provide critical protection to the country against terrorism. Homeland defense is the
task the military is handed outside of the United States. For the purpose of defending
and protecting our nation, the reason why military personnel are sent all over the
world to fight radical extremists who pose a threat to our nation. They also monitor
any other entity who can potentially become a threat to our country.
Homeland defense represents the protection of our territory, population, and critical
infrastructure by deterring and defending against foreign and domestic threats,
supporting civil authorities for crisis and consequence management, and helping to
ensure the continuance of critical national assets (Department of the Army 1999, 1).
(Noftsinger, 2007)
The Department of Defense main objective is to provide the military forces
necessary to protect the security of our country. To protect our natural resources,
installations, and facilities by discouraging and preventing acts of terror against the
American public. To support the overall mission by fighting radical extremist who
plan and carry out attacks on American soil claiming the lives of innocent citizens.
Our military servicemembers operate from overseas and within our states protecting
our borders, skies, ports, and shores from terrorist who wish to plant fear and create
chaos in our nation.

  • 1. Essay Environmental Protection Writing an essay on the topic of environmental protection can be quite challenging due to the complexity and breadth of the subject matter. Firstly, it requires a comprehensive understanding of various environmental issues such as climate change, pollution, deforestation, habitat destruction, and biodiversity loss. These topics often involve intricate scientific concepts and data analysis, which can be daunting to research and interpret accurately. Furthermore, addressing environmental protection in an essay requires a deep exploration of the causes and consequences of environmental degradation. This involves delving into socio- economic factors, political dynamics, and cultural attitudes that contribute to environmental problems. Analyzing these factors and proposing effective solutions demands critical thinking, creativity, and interdisciplinary knowledge. Moreover, crafting a compelling essay on environmental protection entails synthesizing information from diverse sources, including scientific studies, policy documents, news articles, and expert opinions. • 2. The Arabian Nights And The Tale Of The Merchant And His... Throughout history, many pieces of literature such as novels and poems have been translated from a variety of languages in order to show the stories to different cultures. Although the translations are quite accurate, many times the diction is changed based on the way the translator personally interprets the story as well as the message he or she wants to portray to their target audience in favour of their own culture (Sabouri and Karimzadeh, 123). An example of this is The Arabian Nights where the authors of the stories are unknown and were all translated from Arabic to many languages including English. Even though it was written through one perspective, once translated, the meaning was modified to promote the Western perspective of the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Moreover, in The Three Apples, a man kills his wifedue to his suspicion that his wife cheated on him. The slave who is just a stranger, that the husband believes the wife cheated on him with, remains safe and unpunished. Therefore, it is shown that women are automatically seen as unfaithful by their husbands and their society since even her own father is on her husband s side. After the woman is killed, the father realizes it was a mistake but still protects the husband. Furthermore, in The Tale of the Merchant and his Wife as well as in The Three Apples, women are portrayed as helpless and powerless victims. In the Tale of the Merchant and his Wife, the man takes the animals advice and decides to brutally beat his wife in order to stop her from asking him questions. She could not stand up for herself, eventually she even decided that it was her fault and mistake not to listen to the husband. Additionally, in The Three Apples, the woman is murdered by her husband at the end of the story, only because he believed that she cheated on him and thought she was unfaithful. Not only was the woman defenceless against the man but she did not even try to defend herself. This is how the West saw the Eastern women. In contrast, in all three stories it is apparent that men are extremely violent, cruel and controlling which is another common stereotype. Firstly, in The Lady and

  • 6. O The Fifteenth Letter Of The Alphabet Analysis O, it is the only letter in the alphabet that looks the same no matter which way it s viewed. It s all about perspective. To a poor man the middle class is riches, but compare the middle class to the wealthy and they consider themselves poor. Life is a matter of perspective. Deriving from the Phoenician and ancient Semitic alphabet... for the word eye , O the fifteenth letter of the English alphabet is the eye through which we see the world. Like O, life is a cycle without an omega. We live and we die, but life never ends. Many religions believe that there is a soul that moves on to another place, e.g. heaven or hell, after death. Others believe that after death you are reborn as another being. The death of one thing can mean the life of another. This phenomenon can be observed when looking at a food chain; at the very bottom is grass, which is consumed by insects, insects are consumed by rats, rats are then consumed by snakes, which is eaten by hawks, and when the hawk dies it nourishes the soil allowing for the grass to grow, and the cycle continues. Newton s Conservation of Matter states that matter can t be created or destroyed , therefore the atoms that compose our bodies were made from other matter before. Proving that there is no end to the cycle. O is in the shape of a circle a symbol of balance, peace, life, perfection, unity etc.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Just as O can represent wholeness, it can represent nothingness. As a child born in a third world country, I am fully aware of living in poverty. During my childhood years, my mother worked as a nurse at a for a college clinic for less than minimum wage while my father moved job to job. 8 years later I find myself in the land of opportunities getting free education, something most people don t even have and yet we take it for granted. My journey from poverty to opulence gives me a different outlook to life from most people, which is the reason for my lack of
  • 7. The Battle of Algiers and The Algerian Insurgency Essay French Algeria is now called Algeria and won its independence from its colonial power, France. The two political communities in French Algeria were the French citizens and the Algerian people. The Algerian people were under French rule for over one hundred years from 1830 to 1962 when they were given their independence and recognized by France. The events of November 1, 1954, marked the birth of the National Liberation Front (FLN) (Cherian). The Muslim population is the part of the population that felt isolated and they wanted more political autonomy. The Muslim population formed a secessionist insurgencybecause they wanted to break away from the ruling party to create their own country or nation away from French occupation and control.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This was their targets for the start of the insurgency on November 1st.They would walk up shoot the policeman in the head or shoot him in the chest and double tap in the head to insure that the officer was killed. The FLN had to change tactics when the French military became involved especially when they were on strike to gain UN approval for an Algerian nation free from France but the French Army forced them to their jobs and work. They instituted a curfew and checkpoints between the two parts of Algeria where the French citizen were and the Algerian people were housed. They then instituted bombs after their homes were bombed and burned killing their family members and children. The FLN then built purse bombs to attack the French civilians at local areas such as a restaurant, airport, and dance club. They also started to attack the military when threatened and hid weapons in the French occupied territory to attack the policemen. The French civilians were also tired of friends and family getting killed so they started to attack Algerian children whenever they saw them. The French citizens almost killed a young boy by trampling and kicking him when he was on the ground until the police pulled the child to safety. The Algerian insurgency used the strategy that Mao developed and perfected but every nation or country has to tailor their strategy based on the cultural and ethnic traditions and background. The
  • 8. Principles . Principles In Community Development Are Used Principles Principles in community development are used to achieve overall goals and achieve results (Checkoway 1995). Jim Ife has identified 32 principles of community development that are seen as critical components and can be useful to develop a framework for evaluating community development (Ife 2016). Many of Jim Ife s principles are being acted upon in this case study such as Addressing disadvantage and inequality, linking the global and the local, valuing local processes, valuing local skills and relationship and dialogue. Relationship and Dialogue is one of Jim Ife s process principles. Community development essentially focuses on process rather than the outcome (Ife 2016). Effectively community control requires adequate resources, including income, material resources and knowledge and strong skills base (Kenny and Connors 2017). This definition is reflected on in the case study as the residents are teaching and learning from each other. This enables them to use their own resources to develop a small business that operates from an office in the estate. By developing a business and strategy plan, the residences are taking control of their own development. The members of the estate have set up these structures and plans, which enables them to have ongoing progress for the future. Healy refers to community development as a set of approaches focused on understanding individuals as part of a community and on building the capacity of that community to address the social, economic or political challenges facing its members (Healy 2012). One of the adults was a graphic designer in his country of origin. Through the access of computers he was able to expand on his knowledge and learn how to create web designs. He then was able to share his knowledge with others in the community to start up the business. Healys definition has been applied to the case study as he community came together to build a economic future for their estate. Paolo could continue to engage all aspects of the community,
  • 9. What Are The Stereotypes Of White Males When people hear the word stereotype, they usually think of black people, Mexicans, Native Americans, women, and other races. Most people do not think there could be a stereotype against white males. People usually think that it would be the white male that would stereotype other races and not be stereotyped themselves. The truth is that white males get stereotyped just as much, if not more, as other races. White males have been categorized as hateful, major racists, skinheads, and over privileged. In today s society, a white male can t criticize any other racewithout fear of being called a hater or a racist . One of the biggest forms of racismtowards the white male is what the government calls Affirmative Action. Affirmative... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It means that a white male could have a better interview and be better qualified for a job, but a minority would still get the job just so the business could reach the quota. Affirmative Action is just not limited to businesses, it also applies to colleges. Many colleges say right on their application that they have a diverse student body. This stereotype comes from many years ago when there was slavery, and white males were mean to certain races. Other races, specifically African Americans and Native Americans, learned what the whites did to their great great grandparents and feel anger towards the whites and think that even this generation of whites can be racists. A lot of this stereotype also comes from the Holocaust. The Germans, who were white males, wanted to get rid of all other races. They had no value for human life, as they killed millions of people just to cleanse the earth of other races. I can see how this would give other races a bad impression of white males. The truth is this did not include all of the white male population, and it happened over a generation ago. Our values have vastly changed since then, and I think that the majority of white males really want to get along with other races. This stereotype, like all stereotypes, has a negative effect on everyone involved. White males will always be haunted by and blamed for what their ancestors did, and other races will prosecute them for it. Hate for whites by black

Essay about New Learning Strategies for Generation X New Learning Strategies for Generation X Generation X workers resent the labels that have been used to describe them: slackers, arrogant, disloyal, having short attention spans. In fact, these descriptions are less likely to reflect the behaviors of individuals in Generation X than the perceptions of managers who are not attuned to new ways of learning. Hence, they tend to be independent problem solvers and self starters. They want support and feedback, but they don t want to be controlled. Because many of them grew up with computers, Generation Xers are technologically literate. They are familiar with computer technology and prefer the quick access of Internet, CD ROMs, and the World Wide Web as their sources for locating information. Conditioned to expect immediate gratification, Generation Xers are responsive. They crave stimulation and expect immediate answers and feedback. Skeptical of society and its institutions, Generation Xers are focused. As learners, they don t want to waste time doing quantities of school work; they want their work to be meaningful to them. They want to know why they must learn something before they take time to learn how (Caudron 1997, p. 22). Knowing that they must keep learning to be marketable, Generation

We are constantly surrounded by images of the perfect woman. She is tall, thin and beautiful. She rarely looks older than 25, has a flawless body, and her hair and clothes are always perfect. She is not human. She is often shown in pieces a stomach, a pair of legs, a beautifully made up eye or mouth. Our culture judges women, and women judge themselves, against this standard. It is forgotten that beauty pornography , as Wolf says, focuses on underweight models that are usually 15 to 20 years old. Flaws, wrinkles and other problems are airbrushed out of the picture. Wolf discusses the effect that these standards are having on women in the workplace. A woman s beauty, or lack of it, can be used against her. In 1986, Mechelle Vinson lost a sexual harassment case. Vinson was young and beautiful and carefully dressed. The district court ruled that her appearance counted against her. (Wolf 38) In Hopkins v. Price Waterhouse, Ms. Hopkins was denied a partnership because she needed to learn to walk more femininely, talk more femininely, dress more femininely, and wear makeup . • 13. Hard Times and Charles Dickens The novel Hard Times by Charles Dickens is a fictitious glimpse into the lives of various classes of English people that live in a town named Coketown during the Industrial Revolution. The general culture of Coketown is one of utilitarianism. The school there is run by a man ready to weigh and measure any parcel of human nature . This man, known as Thomas Gradgrind, is responsible for the extermination of anything fanciful and integration of everything pertinent and factual into the young, pliable minds of Coketown s children. The older characters in the book, and especially Mr. Bounderby, are examples of how years of leading a utilitarian life can mold someone into an arrogantly bland and ignorant individual, which I think is one of... He definitely lived by the mantra; if I can do it then anyone can. Which of course is false, because not everyone can be the owner of the factory, someone has to man the machinery. Charles Dickens obviously created this character with a purpose in mind. He wanted to portray the greedy business owner that exploits his employees and that is oblivious to any moral obligation that could be present in an employee/employer relationship. Dickens wanted to show that for capitalism to work most efficiently there must be exploitation on the part of decision makers towards employees. In this book, capitalism is portrayed as the enemy of equality. Miss Louisa, I said I didn t know. I thought I couldn t know whether it was a prosperous nation or not, unless I knew who had got the money, and whether any of it was mine. But that had nothing to do with it. It was not in the figures at all. This quote from Sissy Jupe demonstrates the prevalent ideology in Coketown of the rationalization of exploitation as sound means for acquiring wealth. Where I find flaw in this book, is in the character of Mr. Bounderby. He illustrates a great contradiction. That is, that he believes everyone has the opportunity to make themselves wealthy, but his success was made possible, or at least
  • 14. Demography s Classic Transition Theory Demography s classic transition theory furthers the modernization narrative that is central to this argument. The theory presents a three phase timeline to explain the reproductive history of all nations. Countries begin in the pre transition phase where high mortality and high birth rates create slow populationgrowth, which is considered a traditional society. The second phase is the transition where slowing mortality rates and high birth rates produce raid population growth. During this stage birth rate should begin to fall if the country is actively attempting to become a modern society. In the final stage low birth rates and low mortality rates bring the population growth back to a slow or stagnant pace, which is a modern society... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In contrast, the understanding of factors such as gender to be social constructed and uniquely situated in cultural contexts enables the political economy theory to explain how reproduction is constructed differently across time and space. Moreover, the anthropological foundation of the political economy theory forces such theories to account for the standard of living in its understanding of positive reproductive scenarios. A greater understanding of these theories divergent nature occurs when viewing reproductive systems under both lenses. One reproductive behavior that appears radically different when compared under both theories is the system of Birth Spacing in the Congo. Nacy Rose Hunt presents this practice in her article, Le Bebe en Brousse : European women, African Birth Spacing and Colonial Intervention in Breast Feeding in the Belgian Congo. Birth spacing was a cultural practice where women abstained from sexual intercourse for two or three years while they were breast feeding (Hunt 1988: 404). This practice aided maternal and infant health and was widely practiced before colonial domination (Hunt 1988: 401). However, the practice lessened under colonial occupation and created an increase in population growth. Under the political economy framework the effect of colonialism and its pro natalist values best explains the

When examining the totalitarian government of 1984 by George Orwell, a direct connection can be drawn to the motives and ideals associated with NiccolГі Machiavelli s The Prince. Machiavelli s support of the political necessity as a means to remain in power resonate with the government whose aim is to extinguish once and for all the possibility of independent thought as a way to ensure complete political orthodoxy within the country (193). Specifically, Machiavellian thought plays an important part in 1984 as its ideas on reputation, revolution, avoiding hatred, and the use of fear to control a populace are used by INGSOC in order to maintain complete control throughout the story. One of these policies is described when Orwell states It is deliberate policy to keep even the favored groups somewhere near the brink of hardship, because a general state of scarcity increase the importance of small privileges (191). This idea of maintaining constant hardship in order to increase the importance of small actions is an important tool used by the government in the book. It allows them to garner public support incredibly easily by means of very small or near inconsequential actions, thus reducing the chance of revolution. Revolution against the government is further prevented by the society present in the story. This is due to the fact that although some citizens decidedly are against the Party, the restrictive atmosphere prevents them from networking with other like minded individuals. This idea is characterized well by Winston when he explains that, they talked of engaging in active rebellion against the Party, but with no notion of how to take the first step . Thus, the difficulty in creating a popular revolutionary movement is exponentially more difficult. A final obstacle facing revolutionaries in 1984 is that they do not know whether or not their ideas represent the majority in the society. Its an incredibly important point because as Machiavelli points out, whoever conspires always believes that he will satisfy the people with the death of the prince, but if he believes he

The Convergence Of Popular Digital Technology Like its importance in relation to the new forms of production, the cost is a factor of how digital is influential in traditional big budget filmmaking like Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. Following the capture of the actor s movements digital animation is required to complete the transformation to an ape. While the cost of motion capture itself is relatively high as it is a newer technology the cost of the animationis now comparably cheap to when it was first introduced. Evidence of this can be seen in the technologies convergence in television. Here the budget is naturally more limited than a Hollywood blockbuster, so the production methods have to be somewhat cost effective and time efficient. This is particularly true in children s television, where there is also a need to appeal to a young audience. Hence, the convergence of popular digital technology is visible here, providing a way of seeing what has become accepted and so over time more cost efficient, allowing its use in smaller scale moving image making. For instance, many remakes of classic children s TV shows are now digitally animated, suggesting this, due to a move from puppets, stop motion animation, and hand drawn animation. A perfect example is the digital remake of Thunderbirds, which was animated with the assistance of WETA Workshop, the special effects company responsible for Dawn of the Planet of the Apes motion capture (Thunderbirds Are Go: 2015) (Licence! All of the conflicts come down to things such as the difference between dead and nonviable embryos or the distinction of killing versus letting die. Robertson states, ...the discussion must begin from clarification about the underlying factors that establish our alleged duties to protect living human embryos, and those factors will then define the contours of permissible scientific practice (Robertson). This quotation is saying that before any alternatives are used it would be prudent to have established definitions on these issues. The second category questions whether waiting to find a moral alternative, that may not even work, is worthwhile instead of working directly to find cures for diseases. Like the first question scientists and policy makers need to have a conversation about what is more beneficial for the public(Robertson). To sum up, this section makes readers think and poses difficult questions which add to the merit of this excellent article. In conclusion, this article was divided into three sections. It discussed the legal background, how scientific progress can solve our ethical problems, and an analysis of alternative solutions to the controversy of stem cell research. Each of these sections explained in depth the dilemma that holds scientist back from stem cell research, and provides thought provoking questions. This approach to self promotion was innovative and in keeping with what Fryer states in Staying Power: The History of Black People in Britain (1984), he emerged in his forties, as a capable and energetic publicist: a fluent writer and speaker, a campaigner prepared to travel wherever he was invited to present the abolitionist cause. There is overwhelming evidence supporting that he was well versed in politics. He was an active and vocal member of black abolitionists the Sons of Africa, and was an intense lobbyist with regular Parliament attendances, including two personal invitations by the Prime Minister and the Speaker of the House. Romeo and Juliet the love tragedy of two rival families. many views and opinions were made on this the movies we re most viewed for example romeo and juliet from 1968 and romeo and juliet from 2013. The movies were created at different times and the points of views and ideas were different as well. From the play of 1968 consist of the leonard Whiting and Olivia Hussey as main characters and in the 2013 movie consist of Douglas booth and hailee steinfeld. In the movie of 1968 the movie was older and followed the lines a little more accurate they took their time and added every line every moment. Unlike the 2013 version were only about 6 8 men fight at the market for about 1 minute maybe even 2. In general the 1968 movie followed the rules a little more on the line. The 2013 version of romeo and juliet was different in many little picky ways. The movie left out a lot of small details and scenes and lines throughout the movie you could possible say that the movie was a little more rushed and pretty sloppy. One comparison from doing research and watching a few scenes of the movie again I noticed that background music made a pretty big difference the background music in the kissing scene where romeo and juliet meet is so much more romantic they kiss with emotion ,and romance the words are said slow and

Frank Sulloway For a period, birth order was refuted and phased out from serious study. However, as a result of Sulloway s release of his own studies, birth order theories gained respect once again (Paulhus, Trapnell, Chen, 1999). Frank Sulloway follows Adler s theory in the sense that he also believed sibling differences attributed to birth order resulted from competition between siblings. Sulloway (1996) held that siblings utilize differences in size and strength to overpower younger siblings. These younger siblings in turn resorted to counterstrategies in order to hold their ground against older siblings. Such a discussion is certainly reminiscent to Adler s own speculations. However, Sulloway s studies brought in a new dimension to the study of birth order. It was through his research that the Big Five Personality traits, namely Openness, Conscientiousness, Extraversion, Agreeableness, and Neuroticism, were introduced into the study (Sulloway, 2001). More significantly, there was next to no public discussion of feminist thinking and practice. Rarely, if ever, was there any feminist book mentioned as a bestseller and certainly not included on the New York Times Best Seller list. Those of us who have devoted lifetimes to teaching and writing theory, explaining to the world the ins and outs of feminist thinking and practice, have experienced that the primary audience for our work is an academic sub culture. In recent years, discussions of feminismhave not evoked animated passion in audiences. We were far more likely to hear that we are living in a post feminist society than to hear voices clamoring to learn more about feminism. This seems to have changed with Sandberg s book Lean In, holding steady on the Times bestseller list for more than sixteen weeks. No one was more surprised than long time advocates of feminist thinking and practice to learn via mass media that a new high priestess of feminist movement was on the rise. Suddenly, as if by magic, mass media brought into public consciousness conversations about feminism, reframing the scope and politics through an amazing feat of advertising. At the center of this drama was a young, high level corporate executive, Sheryl Sandberg, who was dubbed by Oprah Winfrey and other popular culture pundits as the new voice of revolutionary feminism. Rank s model states that two major strategies are used to achieve the particular goal of persuasion. These strategies are nicely set into two main schemas; the first method is to exaggerate an aspect of something, known as intensify. While the second is to discredit it, which is referred to as downplay. Al Franken, Jeffrey Snyder, Harlan Ellison, and George Will, have all written persuasive articles about gun control. Franken was also able to downplay the usefulness of a firearm by including a series of sarcastic tips for tragedy in a home. For example, 1. Keep the gun loaded... 2. Put the gun in an unlocked drawer... 3. Rest assured. 1 Where Franken s article comes up short is the use of hypothetical numbers to exaggerate and intensify the deadliness of guns. His sarcasm adds diversity to his piece, but should be used sparingly. Franken s conclusion causes his argument to lose its effectiveness, after building his case it just seems ridiculous and out of place. The least persuasive essay out of the four was Harlan Ellison s An Edge in My Voice. Ellison presents his argument in a style that seems to me is more of a disgruntled rambling about both famous and infamous people that die from gun shot, than an article about gun control. Ellison spends the first few pages asking the reader if they cried when a certain person died; he begins with famous people such as Martin Luther King, Bobby Kennedy, and John Lennon, and then moves on to more obscure examples. Instead of trying to build an argument, Ellison seemed to be more caught up with anger and the notion of conspiracies. He does however try to use the intensify technique of Rank s model, to persuade the reader of the horror of deaths caused by guns and their importance. Although Ellison did try to persuade his audience in a different manor, I felt it was ineffective at best,

When launching a new product, companies face many difficult decisions such as choosing the optimal target market. Determining the best target market for a new self propelled, robotic lawn mower will require proper segmentation, targeting, and positioning. The consumer market should be divided with demographic and geographic segmentation; the entrepreneur should target middle aged and elderly homeowners in sweltering locations; and the company should apply a more for the same positioning strategy. Demographic and geographic segmentation should be used to view the market structure. The use of multiple segmentation bases allows for a more accurate analysis of the market. Demographic segmentation, particularly age and life cycle segmentation, should be applied on the population. The segments would consist of children, young adults, middle aged adults, and elderly or disabled individuals. According to Mintel, higher income households are more likely to purchase DIY home improvement items such as a robotic lawn mower. Generally, middle aged and elderly individuals have higher incomes or savings in comparison to the remaining population; these individuals can afford houses with spacious lawns which require frequent mowing. Children are dependent on their guardians, while young adults are more likely to live in temporary housing such as apartment complexes where lawn mowing is managed by third parties such as
