2. Location Studies
โข I started to explore my location by
making careful studies with a variety of
medias i.e Acrylic paints, graphite,
collage, Ink, Watercolours and so on.
โข By creating different creations of the
location I found new textures and
colours. I learnt from this different
ways to express lighting and space
through different tone making
techniques and presenting the location
from different angles and
perspectives.
3. Sketch Up &
Movie
To move on from drawing and
illustrations, I decided to create
my location in a different type of
media: graphic technology. I
used Sketch - Up to recreate my
location as accurately as I could
- this gave a new three
dimensional effect. I also created
a movie of my sculpture that I
created and processed and
edited this through movie maker.
4. Making and Developmental Work
To develop my location further, I used new techniques to create a variety of
textures and patterns with. I did dry point printing for a part of my location - I did
this by carving out my desired pattern onto a piece of plastic then printing it onto
a piece of card. I also created a multimedia A1 college using masking tape, ink
acrylics, card and newspaper. From this I learnt how to experiment further to
create new effects which could then relate further into my project.
5. Historical and
contemporary
research
I began my research at the
National Portrait Gallery, this
helped me understand new artist
techniques and perspectives. I
created studies of the pieces that
I liked and wanted to use in my
project. This then moved onto
looking into a variety of artists
such as Henri Matisse. I copied
their technique and style into my
location - creating small studies
of a section of my location in
their particular style.
6. Developing my Personal
BriefI was interested in graphics
before starting this project -
one key aspect being
designing packaging.
Somehow I wanted to relate
my location and packaging
together. My brief in the end
was to design a modern
packaging for the school
canteen that would invite the
age group of Esher College. I
researched into the meaning
of modern and what packaging
was on the market already to
get a range of new ideas -
then i began developing and
experimenting my own ideas.
7. Final
Design/Piece
In the end I created a coffee
cup for Esher College
canteen. This involved the
colours, textures and lines
from my location swell as
advertising Esher college
into it.
