Pollution is defined as the introduction of contaminants into the environment through human or natural actions, which can detrimentally impact living organisms. There are three main types of pollution caused by human activity: air pollution through hazardous substances in the atmosphere; water pollution from degrading the quality of large bodies of water; and land pollution resulting from industrial, commercial, domestic and agricultural activities on the Earth's surface.

also be a result of natural disasters.
Pollution has a detrimental effect on any
living organism in an environment, making
it virtually impossible to sustain life.
