Such thing that
negatively
impact on our
“Surroundings”
Surroundings refer to….
Air, water, land, plants, animals and the micro- organisms
 includes living things and natural forces
Living things interact with us
Natural Forces control our life
In a word, Surroundings refers to our
Environment
Environment & Environmental Pollution
◦Environment:
According to Merriam-Webster Dictionary,
‘The circumstances, objects, or conditions by which one is surrounded’
◦Environmental Pollution
It refers to the-
‘The action of Polluting especially by environmental contamination with man-made waste’
Pollution, Pollution & Pollution Everywhere….
i. Air Pollution
ii. Electromagnetic Pollution
iii. Light Pollution
iv. Littering
v. Sound Pollution
vi. Plastic pollution
vii. Visual Pollution
viii.Soil Pollution
ix. Radioactive contamination

Effects of pollution
Great pacific garbage patch
Effects of Air Pollution
• Asthma, heart attack, wheezing, coughing, breathing problems, irritation of the eyes,
nose, and throat
• Acid rain contains, that damages trees and acidifies soils and water bodies
• Toxic algae blooms.
• HCFC, CFC, and halons are depleting the ozone layer.
Effects of Water Pollution
• The death of aquatic creatures, which can disrupt the entire food chain.
• cadmium, mercury, and lead are eaten by and becoming more concentrated and
causing serious problems in humans and wildlife.
• Toxic algal blooms in drinking water sources that causes neurological effects, respiratory
problems, stomach and liver illness, and rashes.
• Dioxins are created by using of disinfectant causes cancer.
• Nitrates, causes blue-baby syndrome, which causes shortness of breath and blue-tinted
skin, and can lead to death if not treated early.
Effects of pollution
Effects of Land & Soil Pollution
◦ cause various problems on the skin, respiratory problems, and even different kinds of cancers.
◦ Land degradation and soil erosion.
◦ Destroy ecosystems and habitats.
◦ Creates an imbalance in atmospheric conditions, reducing the amount of carbon that is naturally
taken out of the atmosphere.
Effects of Noise & Light Pollution
◦ Cause stress, anxiety, headaches, irritability, hearing loss, and sleep loss
◦ Cause the injury or death of marine animals, especially whales.
◦ Too much light causes eye strain and stress, harming our eyes and decreasing our quality of life.
◦ Causes a decrease in the hormone melatonin that helps us to fall asleep, resulting in restlessness
◦ . Light pollution can interfere with Photoperiodic animals natural behaviors and cycles.
Effects on Environment
How to solve this……
Clean your
Surroundings
Proper waste
disposal
Maintain three-R
Reduce-
Rescue-
Recycle
Be economical in
natural resource
using
How to solve this…..
◦ We must keep our house and
its surrounding clean.
◦ We should not throw garbage
out on the road.
◦ All the drains should be kept
covered.
◦ Save paper by writing on
both sides.
◦ Recycle material such as toys,
books, etc.
◦ Make use of the recycle bin,
for paper and cardboard at
home and work place.
◦ Use water and power
judiciously.
