• While I agree, the challenge will be to get enough materials to be able to provide detailed
insights on facilitation which will keep participants active and interested. If we end up
repeating the same things it will soon get boring and lose participants.
• My answer is I am not sure, but I wanted to clarify. I would find it most valuable to have a
group that helps members identify successful approaches for facilitation (on an ongoing,
innovation-oriented way), learn those approaches, share our experiences applying them
(including having some repository of member case studies), and consult with each other in
addressing challenges. I chose "I am not sure" because the wording of this question does
not seem to align with the discussion piece, and it is ambiguous. The discussion piece
seems to frame MaFI's role as more of a theoretical look at, or a pilot-scale application of
facilitation. The wording of this question seems to indicate more of a focus on professional
development, including identifying and learning successful facilitation techniques. I think
we also need to consider needed and available funding. If MaFI does not have funds, then
it seems we are more of a peer network, working on and sharing implementation
experience on projects funded by our respective donors, not shared pilots funded by
MaFI. If MaFI has funds, then the focus could be different.
• I think the practice of facilitation needs far more attention than the theory. I think theory
is fairly well formed. I would say practice and evidence are the weak spots.
• Deepening the cognitive, psychological, behavioral, cultural and relational aspects of
facilitation, and bounding the systems to be efficient and effective MSD facilitators
