RATIONALE
At Montevista Central Elementary School, the researcher
observed that some Grade 5 learners face challenges in
constructing simple sentences during their English classes.
This observation raises concerns about the basic writing skills of these
learners because they are already in Grade 5 level. As outlined in the
English Curriculum Guide, Grade 5 learners are expected to
demonstrate good performance in various writing skills, including
drafting, editing, rewriting, revising, and publishing text types
for diverse audiences and purposes.

RATIONALE
However, mastery of these skills hinges on a foundational ability: the
construction of simple sentences. If learners are not good at
constructing simple sentences, they may face challenges in executing
these higher-order writing tasks.
Therefore, this study aims to provide intervention focusing on
sentence construction to aid struggling grade 5 learners to equip them
with the essential skills needed for their writing development.

INTERVENTION
The researcher will employ “Daily Journaling” to improve the
writing proficiency of grade 5 Taurus learners in
constructing simple sentences.
