Abstract: Effective communication between the patient
and nurse is an essential requirement for nursing practice
and for patient-centered care. Nursing faculty that teach
in undergraduate and graduate nursing programs play
a signiflcant role in preparing the nursing workforce to
communicate effectively and provide patient-centered care.
Patient-centered care, interprofessional collaboration, and
informatics are necessary knowledge, skills, and attitudes
for nurses across educational levels in order to meet the
needs of patients, and improve the quality and safety of the
health care system environment. The focus of this article is to
provide information on core nursing competencies for effective
communication and to discuss communication tools used in
patient-centered care, interprofessional collaboration, and
informatics.

In the last decade the Institute of Medicine (IOM) hasreleased reports that address quality and safety in healthcare systems, health professions and nursing (IOM, 1999,
2001,2003a, 2003b, 2010). A core component of quality care
is patient-centered care. Patient centered care is care based on
a partnership between the patient, their families, and the health
care provider that is focused on the patient's values, preferences,
and needs. Effective communication between the patient and
health professionals is an essential requirement for patient-
centered care (IOM, 2001). Furthermore, health professions
education should include core competencies in patient-centered
care in order to meet the needs of patients and the changing
health care system (IOM, 2003a). Nursing faculty play a
significant role in preparing the nursing workforce to provide
patient-centered care and to communicate effectively. Patient-
centered care, interprofessional collaboration, and informatics
are necessary knowledge, skills, and attitudes (KSAs) for pre-
licensure nurses and nurses returning for graduate education in
order to communicate effectively and to improve the quality and
safety of the health care system environment (Cronenwett, et
al., 2007; Cronenvvett,et al.,2009; Massachusetts Department of
Higher Education Nurse of the Future Competency Committee,

Abstract: Effective communication between the patient
and nurse is an essential requirement for nursing practice
and for patient-centered care. Nursing faculty that teach
in undergraduate and graduate nursing programs play
a signiflcant role in preparing the nursing workforce to
communicate effectively and provide patient-centered care.
Patient-centered care, interprofessional collaboration, and
informatics are necessary knowledge, skills, and attitudes
for nurses across educational levels in order to meet the
needs of patients, and improve the quality and safety of the
health care system environment. The focus of this article is to
provide information on core nursing competencies for effective
communication and to discuss communication tools used in
patient-centered care, interprofessional collaboration, and
informatics.

In the last decade the Institute of Medicine (IOM) hasreleased reports that address quality and safety in healthcare systems, health professions and nursing (IOM, 1999,
2001,2003a, 2003b, 2010). A core component of quality care
is patient-centered care. Patient centered care is care based on
a partnership between the patient, their families, and the health
care provider that is focused on the patient's values, preferences,
and needs. Effective communication between the patient and
health professionals is an essential requirement for patient-
centered care (IOM, 2001). Furthermore, health professions
education should include core competencies in patient-centered
care in order to meet the needs of patients and the changing
health care system (IOM, 2003a). Nursing faculty play a
significant role in preparing the nursing workforce to provide
patient-centered care and to communicate effectively. Patient-
centered care, interprofessional collaboration, and informatics
are necessary knowledge, skills, and attitudes (KSAs) for pre-
licensure nurses and nurses returning for graduate education in
order to communicate effectively and to improve the quality and
safety of the health care system environment (Cronenwett, et
al., 2007; Cronenvvett,et al.,2009; Massachusetts Department of
Higher Education Nurse of the Future Competency Committee,

Many agencies within the United States healthcare system are affected by the many national health concerns that must be addressed. Specifically, I've decided to focus on the problem of upskilling. Issues related to retraining healthcare professionals to become proficient in emerging technologies like artificial intelligence (AI) attrition are discussed (Efendi et al., 2021). The ripple effects of our staff upskilling can be seen across my healthcare business. Because of this problem, nurses have had to retrain and update their abilities in light of technological advancements, improving the efficacy of some nursing procedures, including diagnosis and therapy. Because avoiding the upskilling issue in healthcare is difficult, every company has found strategies to overcome it (Pringle, 2017). One example is that lawmakers have mandated that a portion of my organization's resources be set aside to fund the education of nurses and other medical professionals. As a result, it is accurate to claim that the upskilling problems in the healthcare industry have led to the intervention of artificial intelligence in different health organizations.

Incorporating Technology in Community-Based Learning
Unique learning needs exist in all patient populations. However, identifying the need and then designing a technology-based intervention requires a careful analysis of both the population and the planned action. The purpose of this discussion is to describe a community-based population, describe a selected learning need for this population, and explain how I would design a PowerPoint presentation that would address that need.
Community-Based Population
I work in a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) that provides primary care to patients across the lifespan. FQHCs receive funding from the Health Resources and Services Administration Health Center Program to provide care in medically underserved communities (Health Resources & Services Administration [HRSA], 2018). Over 28 million people receive care at FQHCs in the United States (HRSA, n.d.). FQHCs use a sliding scale fee, ensuring patients have access to affordable medical care (HRSA, 2018). While FQHCs are intended to serve the medically uninsured, over 77% of the patients receiving care at FQHCs have private insurance, Medicare, Medicaid, or another governmentally funded health insurance (HRSA, 2019). Females represent 57.65% of the patient population, with patients between the ages of 25 and 69 years old presenting most frequently (HRSA, 2019). However, the FQHC patient population possesses unique barriers to care. A significant hurdle for FQHCs to overcome is language, as 23.63% speak a language other than English (HRSA, 2019). Additionally, 68.23% of the patient population is at or below the poverty level (HRSA, 2019). Complicating continuity of care with this patient population is the high number of migratory and seasonal workers and homeless individuals receiving care (HRSA, 2019). All combined, these factors create a patient population with sub-par health literacy.
Learning Need
Indigent patient populations are more likely to have decreased health literacy levels (Whitley, Jones, Hansen, & Vora, 2019). Additionally, patients with diminished health literacy are less likely to return for follow-up care as scheduled (Thompson et al., 2015). Patients who are chronically under- or uninsured do not return for follow-up appointments as medical is not always viewed as a necessity. Failure to follow-up for appointments as scheduled has been shown to increase emergency department visits and worsen patient outcomes (Arora et al., 2015). Therefore, a means to address the FQHC patients’ knowledge deficit of the need to return for follow-up appointments should be identified and implemented.

TO THE HEALTH CARE SYSTEM

ABSTRACT. This paper discusses the major trends in scholarship about the role of
HRM in strategic management, the migration of health workers, human resource
professionals’ attempt to deliver high-quality health care to citizens, and the im-
portance of human resources in the health care industry. The purpose of this article
is to gain a deeper understanding of the impact of human resources on health sector
reform, the importance of HRM in all aspects of healthcare organizations, the positive
impact of increased job autonomy on employee outcomes, and the dynamics of
employee engagement in healthcare. The literature on the link between HR system
perceptions and civility towards patients, specific roles for HRM in building shared
values that can service both the care needs of patients and the business needs of
health organizations, the complex linkages between employees’ perceptions of human
resources systems and hospital performance, and the mechanisms through which
HRM can enhance patient satisfaction in health care organizations is relevant to this
discussion.

1. Introduction
I am specifically interested in how previous research investigated the im-
portant roles that HRM can play in orchestrating organizational change, the
relationship between human resources and health care, the job satisfaction
of healthcare employees, and the impact of HRM in the health sector. This
paper aims to analyze and discuss the impact of human resources on the
health care system, information that human resource managers can apply to
the healthcare industry, the education and in-service training of health care
workers, and the impact of HRM practices on health sector outcomes. The
theory that I shall seek to elaborate here puts considerable emphasis on the

different types of employees in the healthcare industry, HRM’s significant
role in the distribution of health care workers, the importance of safety
climate in determining patient safety outcomes, and the use of HRM in the
health sector. The mainstay of the paper is formed by an analysis of the
impact of changes in HRM practice on employee and patient outcomes, the
role that HRM activities play in the operations of a healthcare organization,
the labor shortage in the healthcare industry, and the ability of public health
organizations to afford full-time human resources employees.

Health education is an everyday social science used by health providers to promote health behaviors and well-being in the community. Health education initiatives focus on providing essential knowledge and information to the community members and practical skills that enable the public to adopt healthy behaviors (Whitehead, 2018). Health education increases health knowledge and influences the health attitudes of individuals. For instance, nurses can educate the public about the benefits of child immunization in preventing diseases and boosting immunity. Knowledge of immunization can influence individuals who have specific attitudes toward vaccination to seek these services, thus promoting the well-being of children. Health promotion is much broader since it is done by professionals while responding to health developments. It helps address concerns related to health inequities and access within the communities.
Community Assessment and Intervention Planning
Community diagnosis or assessment is an action that health practitioners conduct to identify factors that promote the health of a community and develop strategies to improve them. Health practitioners then design specific goals and programs that help solve particular health concerns identified (Lee et al., 2017). The nurse collaborates with community members to conduct a community assessment and diagnosis processes to help them plan community programs. A nurse must perform a community diagnosis for them to implement a nursing intervention that helps solve the problem. Nurses conduct the diagnosis process to ensure the interventions’ efficiency, promote standardization, and conduct follow-up activities, monitoring, and evaluation while assessing if they have achieved their goals. A nurse can also plan health activities and programs that entail fundamental behavior changes. For example, nurses can coordinate nutritional assessment or diagnosis to prevent concerns of being underweight, malnutrition, or overweight in the community.
