Objetivos:
Promote the internationalization of European educational institutions,
overcoming isolation trends and geographical constraints.
Address and encourage the inclusion of Human Rights initiatives in the
field of Education.
Integrate eTwinning across the curriculum in a group of European schools,
through the implementation of a joint project that would promote the
creation of a multi-layered partnership, from student-to-student dynamics
to interdepartmental collaboration and international cooperation.
Enhance the usage and learning of a variety of EU languages, such as
Swedish, Italian, Spanish and English.
Increase awareness of the urgent need for the inclusion of ICT tools and
training within the school curriculum and class syllabuses, as fundamental
resources for the enrichment of students' abilities and the advancement of
education.
Getting to know Human Rights and its definition.
Becoming familiar with Millennium development goals and their effective
implementation worldwide.
Learning to work cooperatively and collaboratively within a virtual
environment.
Producing joint materials with European partners, which will be presented
to parents, students and the extended educational community.
2. Productos:
Blogger and Twinspace page: all participant schools will be required to
create, publish and update a Blog and a Twinspace page with a project
journal, where they will register all the scheduled events, deadlines and
project outcomes.
Emaze/Powtoon presentations: students will use emaze and Powtoon
to create collaborative presentations in cooperation with their partners at
other schools. These presentations will be used to work collaboratively as
well as to disseminate the project outcomes. (School, educational
community and Human Rights Foundation delegation)
Debate: students will debate and prepare a resolution addressing the
issues that affect their chosen topic and how they would solve these
problems in order to fully reach the Millennium goals.
Instavid: students will create composite videos with their partner
countries, developing collaborative video-stories on their chosen topic,
which at a later stage will be presented to the Robert Kennedy Foundation
international video contest (held on April each year).
Proceso de trabajo y actividades
Students will be introduced to one another via Skype, groups will be
created and the main goals, topics, stages and project outcomes will be
discussed.
Using Padlet: within each team, students will choose a name for the
group and an avatar. Students will complete a written questionnaire about
their partners and design each other's profiles.
Students will communicate with their team members via Twinspace
chatroom and reach the following agreement: Human right
and Millennium goal on which they would like to focus their work.
Once an agreement has been reached, students will design a Wordle
using words that would define and characterise the topic of their choice.
Students share their Wordles and store them for future reference and
debate.
Students will prepare and compose an Emaze presentation with the
Human Right of their choice, incorporating its relationship with Millennium
goals and focusing on a specific country of their choice.
Students develop a timeline/presentation of their chosen Local
Defender and present it to the other teams, using Think link.
3. With their respective teachers, students will spend a class in the school's
neighbouring streets, interviewing passers-by and tourists about the
definition of Human Rights and more specifically about the Human
Right of their choice. Interviews will be recorded on their phones/tablets
and shared with team partners. Videos will be edited creating a composite
of both recordings and unifying it in one short movie.
Videos will be presented to the class at a later stage.
A debate will be held simultaneously with the participation of both
partner countries, listening to each team's delegate and voting for the
best resolutions.
The debate will be held via Skype and questions could be sent via Twitter.
Each team focuses on a Local Defender from the country and Human
Right of their choice, acknowledging his/her biography, case of study and
ways to present his/her contribution for Human Rights.
Video editor: partner schools will work with a video editor of their choice
in order to create their final work and entry the RFK Foundation contest.
Students will design a Webmix with Symbaloo, revisiting all the stages
of the project from their team's perspective, and sharing it with the rest
of teams.
Evaluación
A combination of Rubrics and Google forms will be used at every
stage of the project for each of the scheduled outcomes.
Assessment will be conducted at all times on the following dimensions:
STUDENTS
Will be assessed by other students and teachers on:
Teamwork, deadlines and assignment outcomes.
TEACHERS
Will be assessed by team members (international and inter-departmental)
and participating teachers on:
Teamwork, deadlines, communication procedures, virtual meeting
effectiveness, designed project syllabus and student outcomes.
PROJECT OUTCOMES
Each of the projected outcomes will have an assigned rubric, which will be
given to participants in advance. These documents will guide the Teams
performance and ensure the successful completion of every stage in the
project.
4. Seguimiento y difusión
Follow up: Ideally , the project will constitute a first step towards the
implementation of an ongoing partnership with participating countries, and the
project could lead towards the implementation of a KA2 Erasmus strategic
partnership on the field of education.
Outreach: Project results will be shared with the educational community in an open
doors evening. Besides, the students’ videos will enter the RFK Foundation contest,
which is an international competition that could lead to the students’ participation
in the New York Tribeca Film Festival.
During the debate session, local newspapers and TV channels will be invited to be
present at each of the schools’ theatres.
