This document discusses considerations for planning an upgrade from Aras Innovator 9.x to the new Version 10. Subscriber Upgrade Process
1. Subscriber submits upgrade request to Aras Support
2. Aras Support creates a preliminary schedule
3. Subscriber submits upgrade materials and database
to Aras Support
4. Aras kicks off the Upgrade Project
5. Subscriber freezes customizations in production,
end users continue working normally
6. Aras performs the upgrade and tests the results
7. Three cycles of customer testing / bug fixing

Upgrade Challenges
 IE-specific HTML, Javascript and CSS in custom
solutions
 Direct access to the XML DOM
 Commonly used methods like SelectSingleNode() and
SelectNodes() are IE-only
 Replacements provided for commonly used methods
 Frame Navigation
 Frames eliminated from client for Version 10
 Navigation using frame collections (e.g.
top.document.frames[2]) will not work
 APIs provided to replace this style of navigation

Upgrade Process for V10
 Subscribers must get to 9.4 or above before moving
to 10 with Upgrade Services
 Browser and client OS combinations must be
documented
 Otherwise , the process is exactly the same as before
 Aras performs the upgrade as part of the subscription
 Subscriber is responsible for test cases and acceptance
testing
 Total project duration is expected to increase slightly
 By approximately 1 week more
