This document provides information about PLANE, a professional learning platform for educators. Share Club is accessed via the Discover
Tab (green). To add a item to share club,
click on Add Item/ Resource on the left
hand side.
You can search Share Club for a resource
using the search box at the top of the
screen.

10. Bootcamp Island
Regular meetings are held here
each month to familarise visitors
to the Virtual World with how to
customise their avatar, walk, fly,
share, dance, wave, jump,
breathe underwater and Shop!
There are 3 levels of bootcamp,
starting with beginners- all the
way to experts. The meetings are
advertised on PLANE events
calendar and points/ badges/ PL
hours are attributed to the
meetings.

11. Coach Away Island
Coach Away Island is the place
where Peer Coaching happens in
the PLANE virtual World. You are
given access when you attend
Level 1 Bootcamp training.
The island features the coffee
shop, the auditorium and the
private coaching pods (pictured
bottom right).

12. Action Research Island
Teacher Librarian Michelle Jensen
is currently building her virtual
library ( based on the design of the
NY Guggenheim building) as an
action research project in using
Virtual Worlds in Teaching and
Learning.
The grey building in the image on
the right is Michelle’s current
library building and there are a
number of student generated
objects inside that visitors can
interact with to learn how a virtual
world can support learning in a
physical world

In the PLANE Hero’s Journey the game layer scaffolds teachers
through a series of levels, quests and challenges building capacity
and community. The game is an entrée and motivation to engage in
all the facets of the community life. As people level up in the game of
PLANE they will be guided and encouraged to go deeper and deeper
into community engagement, collaboration and leadership. It is the
goal that at a point in time for each hero, the game motivation will be
overtaken by the value they perceive in community engagement.

As members of the PLANE community you will carry out various activities and amass points and
badges to show your achievement. These early rewards also help to ensure that members explore all
parts of the environment and what the community has to offer. Sets of activities have been combined
into missions, like the Identity Mission or the Explorer's Mission that will reward you with a badge for
accomplishment when you complete them. Sets of missions are combined to allow members to level
up through the 8 levels of the PLANE community. Your first level will be an acknowledgement of the
brave spirit of educators as you take up level to be a Hero
