Children are defined as those under 18 years of age or those unable to fully care for themselves. Bullying is the use of force or intimidation against others through verbal, physical, social, or electronic means. There are four main types of bullying: physical, verbal, social, and electronic.
To address bullying in schools, an Anti-Bullying Act requires all schools to adopt anti-bullying policies. These policies are aimed at promoting zero tolerance for child abuse, exploitation, violence, discrimination, bullying and other forms of abuse. Child Protection Committees composed of school officials, teachers, parents, students and community members will be established to oversee anti-bullying efforts.
Human trafficking
Human trafficking is the illegal trade of human beings for commercial sexual exploitation, forced labour, or slavery. It is a lucrative criminal industry and one of the key drivers is poverty. Victims are typically young girls who are vulnerable to being targeted by traffickers. While females are most commonly trafficked, men and children can also become victims. Care Reform in Uganda: Achievements and Challenges
Uganda has undertaken significant care reform efforts to strengthen family-based care and reduce reliance on residential care facilities. Key achievements include developing a legal framework promoting family preservation, reunifying over 1,600 children with families, closing substandard residential facilities, and regulating foster care. Challenges remain in fully implementing policies, building workforce capacity, and developing family support services to prevent separation. Overall, Uganda has made progress establishing alternative care policies and programs, but continued efforts are needed to strengthen family-based care.

National Child Protection Conference
NCPA has been working since its establishment to protect and promote the right to protection of the children. It has organized two national conferences. The first conference exposed the major child protection agenda form the local and thematically unconcerned areas. For example right to protection of the children belonging to Muslim community and LGBTI had not yet come into mainstream debate.
However the conference mainstreamed those issues into national debate. The second conference brought all the thematic discussions into a prioritized area of child protection problems and tried to seek the solution through policy analysis and implementation gap in the presence of wider range of stakeholders including sectoral government agencies representation.

This is a workshop about communication and collaboration. We will experience how we can analyze the reasons for resistance to change (exercise 1) and practice how to improve our conversation style and be more in control and effective in the way we communicate (exercise 2).
This session will use Dave Gray’s Empathy Mapping, Argyris’ Ladder of Inference and The Four Rs from Agile Conversations (Squirrel and Fredrick).
Abstract:
Let’s talk about powerful conversations! We all know how to lead a constructive conversation, right? Then why is it so difficult to have those conversations with people at work, especially those in powerful positions that show resistance to change?
Learning to control and direct conversations takes understanding and practice.
We can combine our innate empathy with our analytical skills to gain a deeper understanding of complex situations at work. Join this session to learn how to prepare for difficult conversations and how to improve our agile conversations in order to be more influential without power. We will use Dave Gray’s Empathy Mapping, Argyris’ Ladder of Inference and The Four Rs from Agile Conversations (Squirrel and Fredrick).
In the session you will experience how preparing and reflecting on your conversation can help you be more influential at work. You will learn how to communicate more effectively with the people needed to achieve positive change. You will leave with a self-revised version of a difficult conversation and a practical model to use when you get back to work.
