This honors project aims to develop a personal art style through establishing aesthetic criteria informed by research into aesthetic theory. The criteria will define the artist's style to create meaningful and original art using digital mediums. Key aspects and themes emerging from practice-based works will be gathered and analyzed, including a nocturne painting inspired by Whistler capturing the atmosphere of a bridge through tonal techniques. The process involves traditional sketches, value sketches, and colored digital paintings to improve craftsmanship skills while exploring composition and fairytale atmospheres. The plan is to conduct case studies on Rembrandt, Impressionism, and modern digital artists to guide the search for an aesthetic voice.
