Cameron Loftus has created a pitch plan for a new dance music magazine. The magazine will be called either O Dance Mag, Dance Nation, The Future, or Sounds. It will have bright colors and bold design elements to match the genre. The magazine will focus on deep house and future house music, with features like charts, artist interviews, and free posters. It will be released monthly for £4.50 to appeal to its target audience of teenagers and people in their mid-twenties interested in dance music.
4. Colour schemes
O As my magazine is based on dance
music I think it would be best to use
bright colours with this genre of
music. These colours will be mainly
used on the background of my
magazine pages and briefly on the
front cover. Looking at the text side of
things, the colour of the text will have
a consistent colour of black as it will
stand out on a bright background like
I planned and therefore I think it will
be a good effect. With dance music
being my chosen topic of music, I feel
it will allow me to show creativity with
a wide range of interesting and
sophisticated colours.
5. Magazine Style
O The style for my magazine is going to be
bright and colourful with lots of photos
with big and bold mastheads and titles
and smaller font for the main text as it
doesn’t hold as much emphasis and
importance. Most pages will have a fair
amount of text but the font will be clear
and readable and in a dark colour like
black to contrast with the other bright
colours involved on the page.
6. The Magazine
O My magazine would be a dance magazine, as it is
my favourite genre of music and also a fairly
popular genre with the public and especially my
target audience age (teenagers to mid-twenties). It
will be released monthly about the latest news and
with a big emphasis on up and coming dance
artists. It will mainly focus on deep house and
future house music and contain lots of features
like: dance charts, interviews with artists, popular
genres of dance music at the current time and will
have things like free posters. The cost will be
£4.50 as it is a reasonable price so will hopefully
appeal to a wide range of people who take an
interest in dance music.
7. Mission Statement
O As there isn’t a vast amount of dance
magazines currently on the market, I aim
to fill the void left by the music magazine
industry in general. This magazine will
include an array of unique and interesting
features for you to feast your eyes on.
From interviews with your favourite dance
artists to free gifts, this magazine will have
everything you need to keep you gripped
and entertained.
11. Overview of Fan Profiles
O All the demographics for all three dance
artists are women aged between about
18-30 and all have the same social grade.
O They all share a similar outlook on
favourite artists which are generally pop
and dance artists.
O Interestingly, the top region for all three is
Central Scotland and the top profession
for both is entertainment.
