Commando Gear - Survive in the woods, or
end up in the mud!
Our product is survival gear for the outdoors.
The advert is designed to make one character’s camping experience easier as he has
the correct equipment. The other character has the wrong equipment so his camping
experience is a lot more difficult.
This advert shows the darker side of the woods and how you need to be equipped to
survive the experience.
Audience
The audience for our advert are people that are interested in camping or any outdoor
activities that require the equipment.
We have decided that the age range for our product is 18+ because the advert will
come across as quite dangerous so we feel that this age is appropriate.
We have put it in C2 for the socio-economic group because they have an average
income and the products are high quality.
What is the style of the advert?
The style of the advert is realism because it shows how the products are used in real life
situations so the viewer can relate to the situations and how the gear that we offer can
benefit them.
The advert also shows a humour aspect to keep the viewer interested in the
advertisement as well as it makes our advert unique to the other survival gear adverts
and this is how we have differentiated ourselves and this is used as a persuasive
technique also.
How does it appeal to the target audience?
Our advert appeals to the target audience because it shows exactly what the audience
are interested in.
The target audience will be able to relate to the experiences in the advert because they
are interested in what is being shown.
The target audience also will relate to the characters in the advert because they will be
a similar age to the characters.
Existing ideas
Go outdoors advert - It shows a couple that are camping in the woods, equipped with
all the equipment they need to tackle the outdoors. This advert is peaceful and shows
how people enjoy the outdoors.
Our advert is similar to this however, we show examples of what happens without our
equipment.
Also our advert tries to come across as more adventurous and intense because it is
aimed more at the survival side of the woods rather than things such as camping.
Advertising Guidelines.
04 harm and offence : Rules to ensure that ads do not cause harm or serious or
widespread offence. Includes rules relating to shock tactics, unsafe practices and
photosensitive epilepsy.
To avoid this BCAP code our advert will show the safety side to all gear and equipment
used in the advertisement, and show that they will not cause any harm.
