Loteria is a Mexican game of chance similar to bingo. Players have a 4x4 grid board with randomly assigned pictures and corresponding names/numbers. A caller draws cards from a deck of 54 images and announces them, and players mark their board if they have a match. The first player to mark off a row horizontally, vertically, or diagonally wins. The game originated in Italy in the 15th century and was brought to Mexico in 1769, originally as a hobby for upper classes but becoming a tradition at fairs.
