Ronald Reagan’s A Time For Choosing Speech Essay
Millions of viewers tuned into the National Broadcasting Company television network for a
special broadcast on the 27th of October. Viewers were anticipating Ronald Reagan s A Time for
Choosing speech. Reagan was acknowledged for his acting in motion pictures and television
episodes since 1937, and was now being seen in an unfamiliar role. Reagan emerged in support of
the Republican nominee Barry Goldwater. Barry Morris Goldwater was a businessman and five
term United States Senator from Arizona and the Republican Party s nominee for president in the
1964 election. A Time for Choosing was effective, because he gave personal examples to capture the
audiences attention, and gave humor to a tough subject. The United States... Show more content on

For the audience he gives them examples of how government interference hurts Americans and also
allusions to past times such as the revolution and how the founding fathers did not want a big
government. He shares that he has an uncomfortable feeling that this prosperity isn t something on
which we base our hopes the future. Reagan s ability to connect with his audience was rare and
unlike many of his colleagues. Whether the topics he spoke on were always relevant to that of the
listener, it did not always matter.
Reagan had gained strong speaking skills while previously working in the acting industry thus
enabling him to better connect with his audience. Reagan believes that the country is headed in
the wrong direction and that America has several challenges at home and abroad. America s
government was in an economic crisis during the time this speech was given. He knew the citizens
needed to hear something strong and powerful that promised change for a better way of life. A
Time for Choosing was deliberative and not only informed and inspired the audience but it also
provided America with a lighthearted source of entertainment. The style changes at the end of the
speech and establishes an optimistic anticipation for the future. Reagan constructs the case for
Goldwater and states in his closing sentence We will keep in mind and remember that Barry
Goldwater has faith in us. He has faith

Personal Narrative-My Crisis Interventionist Identity
My Crisis Interventionist Identity The Event Most of people involved into a crisis at least once
in their life. It is always hard to simply overcome and resolve the crisis, but once we get over it,
the experience will melt into our blood and become a part of ourselves. Two years ago, I have
been involved into a crisis and had a really hard time during that period. I am a transfer student
from China. I used to study Nursing in my Chinese university. Since there was a cooperative
program between my Chinese university and Old Dominion University (ODU), students like me
supposed to study two years in China and two years in ODU, then finally we will get two degrees
from both universities. After I completed two years studies in China, I went to ODU in order to
continue my degree. However, things happened after I went to ODU. Some leaders in my Chinese
university turned to crime because of corruption; to be more specific, they put students tuition into
their own pocket but did not do their work well. After the first semester in ODU, I heard that the...

I felt helpless for every seconds during that time since my parents and I was not only more than
tens of thousands of kilometers away, but also 12 hours of jet lag. Fortunately, all of our family
members stuck together and we have the determination to overcome difficulties. It was a hard
process to overcome the crisis, but some coping skills did help us a lot. When we were just in
crisis, I was pretty emotional and irritable. I felt unfair because I am not the only transfer student
from China, and other Chinese universities programs are still working well. I started to complain
with my dad, and it usually ended with tears. Every night, my family will have a heart to heart
communication via video, and we will discuss what should we do step by step. My dad is a pretty
positive person, and his positive energy and optimism infected

Civilization And Perception
George Orwell, 20th century award winning novelist of 1984 wrote, He who controls the past
controls the future. He who controls the present controls the past. This idea is the fundamental
basis under which lies various identity surrounded disputes within modern communities. The
influence of the Spanish conquest on Native Americans and their struggle to reconstruct their
identity today, and the Ayodhya dispute between the Hindu and Muslim people depicts the
consequences of the Western idea of White Man s burden and the importance of a nation state s
interpretation of the past to assert a political agenda. The past s concept of civilization greatly
affects modern perception of identities today, thus leading to contention in the identity struggles...

The past is used to form and reinforce group identities, and physical things are used as evidence of
national identity, and powerful symbols of a civilization s impact on an area . The Babri mosque
stood as a religious symbol of Muslim national identity, and for the Hindu community, a denial of
their religious heritage. Since 1947, Hindus have tried to prove that the first Mughal emperor,
Babur, destroyed a temple for their deity: Rama, and in its place built the mosque. In 1942, Hindu
nationalists destroyed the Mosque, and the riots that broke out in India and Bangladesh contributed
to over three thousand deaths. The destruction of the symbolic site was the Hindu nationalist s
attempt to erase Muslim national identity from India, to assert control over the civilization they
considered to be their subordinates. Excavatory efforts in 1990 unearthed sculptures that the Hindus
believed to be of Rama. In 2003, upon court ordered excavation, evidence of a prior Hindu structure
was unearthed, and in 2010 the court of India divided the site into three parts, the Hindus receiving
two thirds of the site, and Muslims the rest. Materially, by promoting their interpretations of the
past, Hindu people gained an official ruling that stated that the site was the birthplace of Rama.
Ideologically, they received public acknowledgement that the site

Aristophanes Charge And Socrates
Aristophanes Charge and Socrates apologia
Aristophanes Clouds , a satirical comedy, presents the conflict between politics and philosophy,
considering philosophy as a destructive influence upon the life of the polis and harmful to the civic
virtue which is significant in maintaining the stability in political order. In the play, Aristophanes
depicted Socrates as an investigator of the thing aloft, as a teacher of how to make the weaker
speech the stronger, and as a disbeliever in Zeus and the traditional gods. Almost a quarter century
after Aristophanes Clouds was first performed, in 399 BCE, Socrates was brought to trial with the
indictment that he was guilty of corrupting the young and of not believing in the gods in whom the
city believes, but in other new spiritual things. As for the accusation, Socrates himself in the
defense speech Apology believed that Aristophanes play led directly to the charges brought against
him. To understand why Socrates confirmed that Aristophanes was one of the accusers who put him
on the trial, one possible way is to look at the Aristophanes charge against Socrates in the Clouds. 1.
Socrates taught people to do injustice with unjust speech and corrupted the young. In the play,
Socrates did not act as the traditional Athenians did, and did not distinguish good from bad and
behave justly according to the rule of the city. Instead, Socrates would like to teach anyone, good
or bad, the skills of just and unjust speech, if the person was

How The Class Struggle In The Communist Manifesto By Karl...
The Communist Manifesto by Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels explains the theory of
communism and how it evolved with the historical development of classes. In the 1800 s Marx
was writing during a period of industrial advancement and believed the basis of social and
historical conflict was imbedded in the struggle between classes. Manufacturing businesses were
excelling, but a vast majority of the working class was still living in poverty. Marx viewed
history as a linear story of class struggle between the oppressed and the oppressors. Modern
industrial society specifically addresses the class struggle between the bourgeois landowners and
the proletariats, the industrial working class. Marx believes that the working class would rise to
complete power and eliminate all other classes. In this type of society, there would be no property
ownership, but rather, a mutual beneficial sharing of the land and resources. This would eliminate
the class struggle, and with it, the oppressed... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To solve this inequality, they devised a socialist approach that would rectify the fundamental
problems of capitalisim, while shifting the power from the Bourgeois to the working class.
Moreover, the new found economic and political power of the dominant proletariats, would
eventually overtake the Bourgeois, and result in the complete elimination of class structure and
struggles.
Since technology was advancing, feudalism was declining and free trade was born (47). Society
was no longer running on a peasant vs. aristocracy, instead it was running on capitalism (workers
vs. capitalists). Capitalism created market competition (the need for modern industrialization,
cheaper labor, faster, etc.) which led to the need for a greater size, cheaper work force (the
proletariats). In addition, in the industrial revolution, man was often replaced by machines or
became an appendage to one

Ethical Issues Within the American Red Cross Essay
The American Red Cross (ARC) is an organization that was founded in 1881 by Clara Barton and
established itself as the most well known emergency relief organization devoted to the care of war
victims, disaster victims, and the suffering worldwide. Unfortunately, the ARC has been plagued
with a high executive turnover, slow response to disastrous events, and mismanagement of donation
funds. These problems now have the ARC facing another problem, fixing their credibility for the
future.

Numerous accusations on the mismanagements of volunteers and donated funds didn t end with
9/11, but escalated following Hurricane s Katrina and Rita. When the overwhelming numbers of
donations specifically received for the relief efforts of 9/11, the executives made the wrong
choice by going against donator s wishes of how to use those funds. Also, the ARC didn t update
their donation system and was once again bogged down by the overpowering donations that
poured in for Hurricane s Katrina and Rita. On top of all that the ARC failed to get a grip on the
financial disasters at its local chapters unscreened volunteers walked away with ATM cards loaded
with donated funds and some manager s padded their own bank accounts with fundraiser donations
(Holguin). For an organization that is supposed to help the country in disaster relief, the ARC has
added monetary complications as the icing on the cake.
The organizational structure of the American Red Cross needs to be taught that ethical compliance is
its first priority; otherwise issues will continue to present themselves when the ARC is needed
most. Mandatory, in person, ethical classes should be held every year for employees and volunteers
to help reinforce the ARC s claim that they are fixing their internal issues. Also, executive
leadership needs to be held accountable for their actions and not given monetary compensation

Viet Cong Tunnel Essay
To a large extent, the Viet Cong tunnel system did contribute to the defeat of the Americans
during the Vietnam War between 1965 and 1969. This was so because of the many problems that
were facing the US forces when fighting the war in Vietnam. It could be possible that one of the
problems was the fact that the Viet Cong were fighting using guerilla tactics. However, it led to a
great lack of trust among the Vietnamese and the Americans as it was difficult to distinguish
between the real Vietnamese civilians and the Viet Cong soldiers in disguise. This essay will aim
to discuss the Viet Cong tunnel system and how they contributed to the Americans defeat and we
will have close reference to this essay.
It all began when the Americans started carrying out the Search and Destroy Missions [Source C]
as the US lost the hearts and the minds of the Vietnamese people through these missions. However,
the terrain had made life more difficult for the US forces as there was a deal of Vietnam that was

Power Of Choice In John Steinbeck s East Of Eden
The book of Genesis demonstrates the history of creation. In the process of creating the world,
the reader can see that there are three sections demonstrated: the creation, the fall, and redemption.
The way that these three sections are exhibited is the amount of imagery and parallelism
displayed in each story. However, in the book, East of Eden, there is an allusion of Cain and Abel
story in which demonstrates the power of choice. This idea of the power of choice comes back to
the original story of the human creation: Adam and Eve. With the combination of the history of
Genesis and Steinbeck s novel East of Eden, demonstrates the idea of liberation especially with
Steinbeck s character Cal.
In the book of Genesis, the story of Adam and Eve is the example of individual choice for the rest
of humanity. When God confronted Adam He stated, Thou shalt not eat of it : cursed is the

He states, the Hebrew word, the word timshel Thou mayest that gives a choice. It might be the
most important word in the world (303). This idea of timshel is a recurring theme all throughout
the third and fourth part of the novel. Lee does state two other definitions in which one states, a
command and the other one states a promise. At the end of the novel, Lee is pressuring Adam to
forgive his only living child, Cal and break a curse. For many scholars, the ending of the novel
can be a little ambiguous just because there is no clear indication of the action of stating,
Timshel. In my interpretation of the ending of the novel is a sign of liberation that started from
the garden of Eden to the story of Cain and Abel , until now. At the end when Adam states,
Timshel, it shows that Cal is free to be who wants to be. Cal can have the liberty of choice and not

The Causes of the Seven Years War
The French and Indian war represents the generic notion for what is known in the history of the
European continent as the Seven Years War. This war represented an important moment in the
history of the United States, despite the fact that the actual confrontation and the political disputes
had included the French and the British. Although the political matters were related to the colonial
issues the two sides had on the European continent, the major battlefield in this sense were disputed
in the American colonies. It marked a crucial point in the creation of the United Statesand in
defining the territorial identity of the country.
Causes of the Seven Years War
There are numerous causes that can be stated to justify the war and discussions over the causes of
the war have been vast (Ropes, 1889). Two of the most important however focus on the historical
background on the one hand and the geopolitical control over colonies on the other hand (Evera
n.d) .
The war was a crucial moment in the history of the colonial relations because it codified the total
control of Britain over the sea trade as well as the sovereignty over most part of the North American
continent through the Treaty of Paris.
During the 18th century there was a fierce competition between the British and the French colonial
empires that ultimately led to The Seven Years War. The final result of the conflict favored the

too much of this attention such as food or oral pleasure. Ainsworth (1974) purposed a caregiver s

sensitive to their children. This result was concluded through a procedure known as the strange

finally reunion behaviour: the way the caregiver was greeted on return. They concluded from

attachment. Type B (securely attached) was the largest group of infants. These children were

Compare And Contrast Matrice And Where To Find Them By...
Matrices and Where to Find Them Over the ages there have been many struggles in the effort to
describe the universe and its appearance. Seeing is believing and perception is reality are both
sayings that can be found in almost any household, but how much truth can be attributed to these
words in their many variations? The nature of reality has been a controversy for a great many
years. Rene Descartes was the first philosopher to offer the explanation that the world people
perceive is simply an illusion which the called Dream Theory . While Descartes was essential in
the development of Dream Theory, he was unable to address several major flaws in his work. It
was only when Nick Bostrom wrote his paper on simulation theory that these flaws... Show more

In his work, Bostrom states that every species must fall into one of three categories, each of
which state a different reality and level of technology for that people. The first scenario states
that the civilization in question is not advanced enough to create the technology required to
produce a simulation of an identical nature to the real world. It also states that they will most
likely go extinct before they reach this level of sophistication. The second scenario states that the
civilization does have the ability to produce the technology necessary to produce and maintain a
simulation of such a high level of detail but has no desire to. The third and last scenario is that
most likely the civilization in question already exists in a simulation. In simulation theory, the three
scenarios follow a chronological order in which the disapproval of the previous claim leads to the
validation of the next and vice versa. For example, if the civilization in question is too advanced to
fall in the first scenario, then they fall into the second. If they fulfill the qualities of the second
scenario then they would not fulfill the qualities of the third and the society

The Life Cycle Of A Star
Everything has a system, a routine, a cycle. For stars, their life cycle can last billions of years.
Every star we see in the night sky is at a different stage in its life cycle. As NASA said, Stars are
the most widely recognized astronomical objects, and represent the most fundamental building
blocks of galaxies.
A star s life cycle is determined by mass; the larger a star is, the shorter its lifespan is. When stars
are formed, they begin as clouds of gas and dust in nebulae. Because of gravity, the matter
condenses into a sphere where hydrogen is combined with helium, forming a protostar. As energy is
released through nuclear fusion, stars enter the main sequence, the longest phase of a star s life
where it reaches stable nuclear reactions.

Russia Is Wrought With Inconsistencies And Discord
The history of Russia is wrought with inconsistencies and discord. Flawed with unjust social
constructs and plagued constantly by the dichotomous relationship between authority and the
people, Russia, since it s upbringing, had always been one step behind it s eastern neighbors. And
in this rat race to stand among the Europeans, the identity and essence of Russiawas always in a
state of question. As a result, Russia was constantly struggling to find it s place within a global
narrative. It was Russian philosopher Petr Chaadaev, who in 1829, wrote, We do not belong to any
of the great families of the human race. We are neither of the West nor of the East, and we have the
traditions of neither. It is a wonder that Chaadaev, in the years of such turbulent changes, was able
to identify such metaphysical traits of the nation. But while Chaadaev highlights the indisputable
sui generis nature of Russia in context with the European nations, perhaps it was too presumptuous
to say that this uniqueness resulted in the lack of culture and tradition from both East and West. As
the three momentous periods of Russia, the formation, the imperial, and the formation of the soviet,
may suggest, rather than a nation outside of East or West, Russia is an amalgamation of elements
from both, existing between the dichotomous East and West. Russia before the Russians was a
complex mix of people and culture. To the knowledge of historians, the lands were mostly

International Food Festival Sparknotes
The International Food Festival is a graphic novel that was put together by Parvati Nair, Alana
Susbilla, Izabella Gomez, and I. The novel is about an International food festival that takes place
in the united states and to be exactly it takes place in our present day time during Trump s
presidency. The food festival has desserts and dishes from all over the world. The protagonist of
the graphic novel are the international foods who are all nice and respecting of others. While, the
antagonist of the graphic novel are the American foods who believe that they are superior to the
international foods. The international foods stick up to the American foods hate and eventually at
the end all of the foods get eaten. The purpose of the graphic novel was to spread awareness about
the amount of racismthat takes place in the United States. The amount of hate crimes in the United
States has increased since the Donald Trumpbecame the president. In general the man representing
our whole nation is racist, homophobic, anti feminist, and much more. The quote get of my country

correct to be saying a phrase like that. If this was a conversation between two people other
people would try to step in because it is ethically wrong for someone to be treated like that. The
pathos appeal can be seen by asking how the international desserts felt after the American dessert

was unfair. Trump has continually harassed illegal immigrants and even ripped families apart.

Q1
How can where you live influence your health and wellbeing?
In this assignment I will attempt to explain how a persons health and wellbeing can be both
negatively and positively impacted on depending on where they live.
UK society is distinguished by health inequalities, they are the unfair and avoidable differences in
peoples health across social groups and different population groups due to social, biological and
geographical factors which usually result in people who are worse of financially encountering poor
health and shorter lifespans.
According to Labontes Model of health and wellbeing (p53 health and wellbeing in
neighbourhood) we are shown how health can be broken down into three main factors, physical,
mental and social and each area overlaps to make complete health.
There are many examples how the neighbourhood you live in can affect your health and wellbeing.
To maintain good physical. Social and mental health we need the following resources. Good
transportation route to local hospitals, nearby parks and walking trails, health shops, more
education and employment opportunities, appropriate housing, more spaces for people to recreate
and relax in like cafes and public plazas, local gyms, outdoor activities and better sewage and
drainage. Alternately the things that have a negative effect on our physical, social and mental
wellbeing would be poverty, people that are financially worse off tend to live in deprived

Theories Of Group Dynamics
CHAPTER 3:
THEORETICAL BACKGROUND POF THE STUDY:
1.THE FUNDAMENTALS OF GROUP DYNAMICS:
Group dynamics refers to the interactions between people who are talking together in a group
setting.
Group dynamics can be studied in different settings, in classroom settings, and in social settings.
Any time there are three or more individuals interacting or talking together, there are group
dynamics.
Another definition of group dynamics is the extent to which the team members in the group are
actively participating in decision making, sharing their ideas about the tasks, motivating co
employees.
Team and group dynamics are important is given to these dynamics plays a key role in overall
success of an organization.
Group dynamics can be referred to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The complexity of large groupings is partially because they are made up of interrelated subgroups.
As the size of a group increases, the need for more organization or leadership also often becomes
more obvious.
German sociologist GEORG SIMMEL argued that as the group becomes greater, the individual
becomes separated and grows more alone, isolated and segmented.
Simmel s view was somewhat ambiguous with respect to group size. On one hand, he believed
that the bigger the group the better for the individual. In a larger group it would be harder to exert
control on an individual, but there is a possibility of the individual becoming distant impersonal.
Group dynamics can be referred to group development and movement in time towards its goals
substantiated by the interaction and communication of group members and the external influences.
It considers the set of social and psychological processes and phenomena that take place during the
whole life cycle of the group.
Group dynamics covers all stages of group development starting from its creation, functioning,
development, stagnancy, regress and break up. Based on the mentioned definitions, in the given

Essay On The Hundred Years War
One of the longest conflicts in the history of warfare, the Hundred Years War was a time that
defined history for both England and France. The war lasted from 1337 until 1453 passing over
one hundred years and reaching a total of one hundred and sixteen years. It began in May 1337
when King Philip VI of France tried to confiscate English territories located in Southwestern
France and it then ended in July 1453 when the French finally expelled the English from the
continent. In the one hundred and sixteen years time span, there were about sixty eight years of
peace, and forty four years of a series of battles full with raids, sieges, and naval battles. Like many
other wars, it did not achieve anything except for destruction, disorder, and the misery of the
common people living in these events, though it marked the start of early modern times for
England and France. (Bishop) Although the war started in 1337, the roots trace back all the way to
the reign of William the Conqueror. When William the Conqueror became king in 1066. He
launched an invasion of England from Normandy, his territory within France. He then in the Battle

Nature is rich; but everywhere man, the heir of nature, is poor. Lloyd begins his work by
complaining about how the rich remain rich and the poor remain poor; however, as the essay
progresses, one can see the accuracy of his views. He references the creation of Adam and Eve,
stating that, Never since time began have all the sons and daughters of men been all warm, and
filled, and all shod and roofed. It s been true throughout history that because of monopolies that a
very small percentage of men control a majority of land and resources. Lloyd states that individuals
holding a majority of resources and land believe that that there is a scarcity; that there is not
enough. And in order to survive, in order to be happy, in order to be prosperous, they must contain
and constrain. Men must hold on to any and everything they can get their hands on. The minority
has an opposing viewpoint. It feels that there is an abundance of resources, but because of unequal
distribution, there is never enough to go around: There is too much iron, too much lumber, too
much flour―for this or that syndicate. The majority have never been able to buy enough of
anything; but this minority have too much of everything to sell. Lloyd concludes by expressing that
we have become a mutual deglutition. He states that we have advanced too quickly and implicates
that we are beginning to reverse

Insane Asylum In The 1800s
LIVING IN AN ANSANE ASYLUM
What was it like to live in an insane asylum in the 1800 s?
The first colonists blamed mental illness on witchcraft and demonic possession. The mentally ill
were often imprisoned or sent to poorhouses. If they didn t go to one of those they were left
untreated at their home. Conditions in the prisons were awful. In 1841, a lady named Dorothea Dix
volunteered to teach a Sunday school class for the female inmates. She was outraged with the
conditions of the prisons that she witnessed. Dix then went on to be a renowned advocate for the
mentally ill. She urged more humane treatment based care than what was given to the mentally ill
in the prisons. In 1847, she urged that the Illinois legislature to provide an appropriate ... Show more

But other patients had reasons to be in the asylum. On Tennessee Genealogical Society web site
you can read why mentally healthy women went to the insane asylums. Some of the women
were put in the asylum because they questioned the authority of their husbands or they were not
good housewives. Any woman was at risk of being put in an insane hospital if they did either
one of those. Also, if women got to old the husband could have her put in a hospital and take a
younger wife. Once a woman was committed, it was as if she died, an obituary was published,
usually. A landlord could have a person committed for not paying rent. A boss could have an
employee committed if they were slow or a bad employee. People could be committed if they
were poor, being an alcoholic, a person with a short fuse, or anyone who deviated from the
normal thing society thought was right. These could go for men or women, but most were filled
with women. Also, children who acted out or had mental or physical disabilities were also placed
in mental asylums. A blind child or a child with a speech problem would be locked away for the
rest of their life just because they had a birth

How Did Theodore Roethke Influence Poetry
Theodore Roethke once said, By daily dying, I have come to be. While many poems of the 1930
50 s era consisted of high minded, august ideas, Theodore Roethke (perhaps taking a note from
Robert Frost) took a different approach. Many people related to Theodore Roethke s raw and

Obstructive sleep apnea in school aged children presented with nocturnal enuresis
INTRODUCTION Obstructive sleep disordered breathing (SDB) is an abnormal breathing pattern
during sleep characterized by snoring and increased respiratory effort and with variable severity
where obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA) constitutes the most severe form of it. Childhood OSA has
been accepted recently to be associated with numerous adverse health outcomes, including both
cognitive and behavioural deficits. (1) In a small study, childhood OSA was also related to potential
neuronal injury in the hippocampus and frontal cortex. (2) Multiple risk factors have been
identified as a risk factor but still the most widely accepted risk factor is adenotonsillar hypertrophy.
Childhood OSA has different clinical manifestations as snoring, witnessed apnoeas, labored
breathing, restless sleep and others. (3) Nocturnal enuresis (NE) i.e. intermittent nocturnal

Maslow theory
In Maslow theory there are five factors that he uses to identify this.
Physiological needs. These are the needs which people cannot live without. So these needs are
important in motivation. People go to job in order to full fill these needs. Physiological needs
includes water, food, shelter etc.
Safety needs. Safety needs are the needs which people want for their own. Example in jobs people
have to have safety in job. When management changes employees will be fired from the job. But if
an employee get a contract then he/she has the safety of job that they won t be fired even if the
management changes.
Belongingness need. These needs are also important. If a person goes to work he/she should get the
feeling of being belonged by others. An organization should make an employee feel that they are

Contrast The Spanish And English Colonies From 1492 To 1700
In a time when Native Americans occupied present day America, the Age of Exploration began in

used to dominate the New World until the Spanish founded New Spain for Gold, God, and Glory.
The English explorers who settled in the New World after being persecuted in England and to make

Admittedly, there was a difference in the way the Spanish and English lead to the Native
Americans downfall. The Spanish Friars forcibly convert the indigenous people with the mission
system going as far as to kidnap a Native America to convert him to Catholicism. The English
converted the natives using Praying towns which were completely optional and did not force the
Native American to work for the colonist. This difference occurred because the Spanish Friars and
the conquistadors were more focused on getting labor out of the natives while the English settlers
mainly wanted to save the indigenous people, who the English colonists thought were savage and
doomed. On the other hand, there was similarity in the way the Spanish and English forced the
Native Americans to war after attacking their religion and taking their land. The way the Spanish
used the encomienda system. This was a system set up by the Spanish king in which he lent out
land to conquistadors to make profit by using anything that was on the land including people. This
was under the condition that the conquistadors protected and converted the indigenous people on
their land. The Spanish used this to justify the need to extract labor and resources from the Native
Americans who inhabited the New World. The English used the way the Spanish treated the natives

The Conservation And Recycling Of Water
Currently California has a terrible water problem, which is causing many people to cease
watering in excess all across the state. The reason California has water problems is that we are
emptying our underground aquifers during a drought that has been going on and many people
are still wasting water on their own personal opportunities. There are many options toward either
ending or surviving the water issue, such as the idea of war to take the water that California
needs to survive. Another is to build a pipeline from a place with extra rainfall annually that
California can syphon off for usage. Another is the option to conserve water across the state and
to reuse water as much as possible to minimize excess water usage. The most viable of these
solutions is the conservation and recycling of water. By conserving and recycling water there is
no waste, only recycled water for cleaning dishes, watering plants, and washing houses and cars.
The only foreseeable problem is that the process cannot be monitored and people are only held by
honesty and a promise to do what they can to conserve water, but the conservation of water seems
to be the most affordable, quickly enacted, and can be done by most families. Also the other
options require a higher amount of financial support to begin and continued maintenance, large
spans of time to orchestrate, and would need a lot of manpower. With the option of water
conservation time, money, and manpower is not as high of a needed factor when

Due to its endangered status, understanding the Lesser Short tailed bats reproductive cycle is
essential in helping conserve the species and stabilize the population. This essay will explore the
bats reproductive technique and the evidence for an annual cycle, which can be seen to make
anatomical, behavioural and physiological changes to the bats (Racey Entwistle, 2000). The male
anatomical and physiological changes have not had a sufficient in depth study, however their
behavioural changes a can clearly be seen (Krutzsch, 2000). On the other hand female anatomical

Pros And Disadvantages Of Delusion
Delusions
Variable Disadvantage
Delusions are beliefs that have no basis in reality. The character refuses to abandon such beliefs
even in the face of evidence to the contrary or at best comes up with rationalizations to explain
away any contradictions.
Prejudice: The belief that a group of people has certain characteristics. While everyone has some
prejudices in some way or another, a delusional person staunchly holds to these beliefs. In some
cases, the person refuses to trust or befriend any member of such a group, regardless of the merits
of the individual person. Such a Delusion is worth 1 to 3 points, depending on how intense the belief
is, how large a group it applies to, and how it dominates the character s life. At the 1 point level, the
character could be an Archie Bunker type bigot; at 3 points, he would be a rabid Human/Faunus
supremacist.
Delusions of Grandeur: This person thinks they are somebody far greater and more powerful
than they really are. The most common type has an exaggerated sense of overconfidence: I am a
genius, but nobody understands me which is why the best job I ve held is the cashier at a 7 11 (1
point); I am the Messiah; prepare for the Second Coming! (3 points).
Phobia: This Disadvantage is worth 1 to 3 points depending on the severity. 1 point represents a
mild discomfort while 3 points represent an intense fear, maybe even to the point of anxiety.
Emotional Problems
Variable Disadvantage
Those with Emotional Problems react in unreasonable ways to some situations. The reaction can be
anger, sadness or anguish, typically more extreme than normal. These emotional problems can be
triggered by distressful but relatively ordinary events in normal life; they prompt a very strong
reaction.
Fear of Rejection: This person is afraid of rejection. People with this problem may be afraid to
make friends or approach people they are attracted to. If their fears come true they will harbor a
great deal of resentment. This is a 1 point Disadvantage.
Depression: This character s emotional problems make the very act of living seem like a hard
chore. Common symptoms of Depression include sleep problems, severe procrastination, and a lack
of interest in anything. A character with

  • 2. Ronald Reagan’s A Time For Choosing Speech Essay Millions of viewers tuned into the National Broadcasting Company television network for a special broadcast on the 27th of October. Viewers were anticipating Ronald Reagan s A Time for Choosing speech. Reagan was acknowledged for his acting in motion pictures and television episodes since 1937, and was now being seen in an unfamiliar role. Reagan emerged in support of the Republican nominee Barry Goldwater. Barry Morris Goldwater was a businessman and five term United States Senator from Arizona and the Republican Party s nominee for president in the 1964 election. A Time for Choosing was effective, because he gave personal examples to capture the audiences attention, and gave humor to a tough subject. The United States... For the audience he gives them examples of how government interference hurts Americans and also allusions to past times such as the revolution and how the founding fathers did not want a big government. He shares that he has an uncomfortable feeling that this prosperity isn t something on which we base our hopes the future. Reagan s ability to connect with his audience was rare and unlike many of his colleagues. Whether the topics he spoke on were always relevant to that of the listener, it did not always matter. Reagan had gained strong speaking skills while previously working in the acting industry thus enabling him to better connect with his audience. Reagan believes that the country is headed in the wrong direction and that America has several challenges at home and abroad. America s government was in an economic crisis during the time this speech was given. He knew the citizens needed to hear something strong and powerful that promised change for a better way of life. A Time for Choosing was deliberative and not only informed and inspired the audience but it also provided America with a lighthearted source of entertainment. The style changes at the end of the speech and establishes an optimistic anticipation for the future. Reagan constructs the case for Goldwater and states in his closing sentence We will keep in mind and remember that Barry Goldwater has faith in us. He has faith ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Personal Narrative-My Crisis Interventionist Identity My Crisis Interventionist Identity The Event Most of people involved into a crisis at least once in their life. It is always hard to simply overcome and resolve the crisis, but once we get over it, the experience will melt into our blood and become a part of ourselves. Two years ago, I have been involved into a crisis and had a really hard time during that period. I am a transfer student from China. I used to study Nursing in my Chinese university. Since there was a cooperative program between my Chinese university and Old Dominion University (ODU), students like me supposed to study two years in China and two years in ODU, then finally we will get two degrees from both universities. Since 1947, Hindus have tried to prove that the first Mughal emperor, Babur, destroyed a temple for their deity: Rama, and in its place built the mosque. In 1942, Hindu nationalists destroyed the Mosque, and the riots that broke out in India and Bangladesh contributed to over three thousand deaths. The destruction of the symbolic site was the Hindu nationalist s attempt to erase Muslim national identity from India, to assert control over the civilization they considered to be their subordinates. Excavatory efforts in 1990 unearthed sculptures that the Hindus believed to be of Rama. In 2003, upon court ordered excavation, evidence of a prior Hindu structure was unearthed, and in 2010 the court of India divided the site into three parts, the Hindus receiving two thirds of the site, and Muslims the rest. Aristophanes Charge And Socrates Aristophanes Charge and Socrates apologia Aristophanes Clouds , a satirical comedy, presents the conflict between politics and philosophy, considering philosophy as a destructive influence upon the life of the polis and harmful to the civic virtue which is significant in maintaining the stability in political order. In the play, Aristophanes depicted Socrates as an investigator of the thing aloft, as a teacher of how to make the weaker speech the stronger, and as a disbeliever in Zeus and the traditional gods. Almost a quarter century after Aristophanes Clouds was first performed, in 399 BCE, Socrates was brought to trial with the indictment that he was guilty of corrupting the young and of not believing in the gods in whom the city believes, but in other new spiritual things. As for the accusation, Socrates himself in the defense speech Apology believed that Aristophanes play led directly to the charges brought against him. To understand why Socrates confirmed that Aristophanes was one of the accusers who put him on the trial, one possible way is to look at the Aristophanes charge against Socrates in the Clouds. 1. Socrates taught people to do injustice with unjust speech and corrupted the young. In the play, Socrates did not act as the traditional Athenians did, and did not distinguish good from bad and behave justly according to the rule of the city. The Communist Manifesto by Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels explains the theory of communism and how it evolved with the historical development of classes. In the 1800 s Marx was writing during a period of industrial advancement and believed the basis of social and historical conflict was imbedded in the struggle between classes. Manufacturing businesses were excelling, but a vast majority of the working class was still living in poverty. Marx viewed history as a linear story of class struggle between the oppressed and the oppressors. Modern industrial society specifically addresses the class struggle between the bourgeois landowners and the proletariats, the industrial working class. And in this rat race to stand among the Europeans, the identity and essence of Russiawas always in a state of question. As a result, Russia was constantly struggling to find it s place within a global narrative. It was Russian philosopher Petr Chaadaev, who in 1829, wrote, We do not belong to any of the great families of the human race. In this assignment I will attempt to explain how a persons health and wellbeing can be both negatively and positively impacted on depending on where they live. UK society is distinguished by health inequalities, they are the unfair and avoidable differences in peoples health across social groups and different population groups due to social, biological and geographical factors which usually result in people who are worse of financially encountering poor health and shorter lifespans. According to Labontes Model of health and wellbeing (p53 health and wellbeing in neighbourhood) we are shown how health can be broken down into three main factors, physical, mental and social and each area overlaps to make complete health. There are many examples how the neighbourhood you live in can affect your health and wellbeing. To maintain good physical. Social and mental health we need the following resources. Good transportation route to local hospitals, nearby parks and walking trails, health shops, more education and employment opportunities, appropriate housing, more spaces for people to recreate and relax in like cafes and public plazas, local gyms, outdoor activities and better sewage and drainage. The complexity of large groupings is partially because they are made up of interrelated subgroups. As the size of a group increases, the need for more organization or leadership also often becomes more obvious. German sociologist GEORG SIMMEL argued that as the group becomes greater, the individual becomes separated and grows more alone, isolated and segmented. Simmel s view was somewhat ambiguous with respect to group size. On one hand, he believed that the bigger the group the better for the individual. In a larger group it would be harder to exert control on an individual, but there is a possibility of the individual becoming distant impersonal. Group dynamics can be referred to group development and movement in time towards its goals substantiated by the interaction and communication of group members and the external influences. It considers the set of social and psychological processes and phenomena that take place during the whole life cycle of the group. The war lasted from 1337 until 1453 passing over one hundred years and reaching a total of one hundred and sixteen years. It began in May 1337 when King Philip VI of France tried to confiscate English territories located in Southwestern France and it then ended in July 1453 when the French finally expelled the English from the continent. In the one hundred and sixteen years time span, there were about sixty eight years of peace, and forty four years of a series of battles full with raids, sieges, and naval battles. Like many other wars, it did not achieve anything except for destruction, disorder, and the misery of the common people living in these events, though it marked the start of early modern times for England and France. This difference occurred because the Spanish Friars and the conquistadors were more focused on getting labor out of the natives while the English settlers mainly wanted to save the indigenous people, who the English colonists thought were savage and doomed. On the other hand, there was similarity in the way the Spanish and English forced the Native Americans to war after attacking their religion and taking their land. • 39. The Conservation And Recycling Of Water Currently California has a terrible water problem, which is causing many people to cease watering in excess all across the state. The reason California has water problems is that we are emptying our underground aquifers during a drought that has been going on and many people are still wasting water on their own personal opportunities. There are many options toward either ending or surviving the water issue, such as the idea of war to take the water that California needs to survive. Another is to build a pipeline from a place with extra rainfall annually that California can syphon off for usage. Another is the option to conserve water across the state and to reuse water as much as possible to minimize excess water usage. The most viable of these solutions is the conservation and recycling of water. By conserving and recycling water there is no waste, only recycled water for cleaning dishes, watering plants, and washing houses and cars. The only foreseeable problem is that the process cannot be monitored and people are only held by honesty and a promise to do what they can to conserve water, but the conservation of water seems to be the most affordable, quickly enacted, and can be done by most families. Also the other options require a higher amount of financial support to begin and continued maintenance, large spans of time to orchestrate, and would need a lot of manpower.
