Divine Gods In Gilgamesh
Talia Barreira

The Divine Humanity Though God(s) are thought of as innocent and fair, does that mean that they
always behave that way? Flood stories are a common practice in writing for many cultures; they are
used for the destruction of mankind and a taught lesson to those in humanity. In the Bible it is shown
the wickedness of mankind heart verse the obnoxious disaster the people in the story of Gilgamesh
had created, which nevertheless lead to the floods. Not knowing what the outcome would lead to, the
enthusiastic men who are a major part of the stories went for this long journey. It is also shown the
God of the Bible who is sorrowful for the men he has created verse the Gods who are angry with their
dwellers.
Before the floods occurred the Gods had to make a decision regarding their people; what was their
punishment for their crimes going to be? The Bible expresses God s sadness for his people. He is lost
for words at how they think and react to his presence. As emphasized, The Lord saw that the
wickedness of man was great in the earth and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was
only evil continually (Gen 6. 5). In Gilgamesh the Gods are not saddened by their dwellers like The
Lord, instead they were angry at the catastrophic lifestyle the people were living. In both cases though,
the Gods were put through enough and came to the conclusion of the floods; with teaching the lesson
of respect and honor while also

Therapeutic Listening
EMA
The articles main focus is to research the processes involved in leaning to listen therapeutically.
Listening is a key tool when learning how to become a counsellor; Lee Prior (2013) aimed to study the
accounts of students in their development of therapeutic listening. Seventeen students in total agreed
to participate in the interviews but only fourteen were able to participate, their ages ranged between 25
and 60 years of age. From the 14candidates only ten interviews were transcribed, and only six were
analysed further. Six first year counselling students who had just finished a post graduate certificate in
counselling skills were interviewed and analysed. Due to the nature of study, the researchers elected to

Quantitative research is more widely used in psychology, as it is accurate and reliable. It is not
concerned with individuality and would not be suitable for this type of research project.
Some say that the IPA technique has become very popular amongst students as it focuses on personal
lived experience, which fits well with the quantitative method. Within the field of research, there is
constant debate on how to determine validity. Elliott, Fischer and Rennie (1999) suggested a quality
criterion for qualitative research.
Reflexivity is the act of constantly reflecting on oneself as the researcher and the relationship between
the interviewee. Reflexivity is important as it is set up to stop the manipulation of results. The
researchers has to be aware that their presence alone will affect the outcome of the analysis and it is
important that they are aware of this and do all that they can to minimise the effects they have on the
respondents. Reflexivity is inextricably linked with accuracy, especially within the relationship
between the researcher and the

Apple s Iphone 5 Personal Evaluation
Apple s iPhone 5 Personal Evaluation Personal research and evaluations are excellent ways to
discover pertinent information about a product that a consumer wishes to purchase. In addition,
reviews come from multiple sources: experts or consumers, both play an important role to the
consumer and are thought to be valued resources. In fact, reviews and information are easier to
acquire due to the modern technology and increased use of the internet among consumers. Reviews
and research help consumers to decide whether or not they are going to purchase a specific product,
such as Apple s iPhone 5s or the 5c, by providing information and specifications. When comparing
consumer reviews along with personal knowledge about the Apple iPhone 5 to expert reviews based
on design, software, and functionally, it is clear that personal evaluations are the best, as they are first
hand knowledge. This consumer has often considered purchasing Apple s iPhone 5 based on its
design, and my desired needs. According to consumers reviews, one consumer had problems with the
housing fading with time on black iPhone devices. On the other hand, Gadi Amit, a founder of New
Deal Design, states You hold the new iPhone, and you see and feel the difference immediately. The
iPhone 5s uses aluminum and glass, and both materials are considered noble from a design
perspective. Gadi s review provides consumers with more detailed information about the new iPhone,
which makes consumers aware of the type of

Analysis Of Frank Lloyd Wright And Zaha Hadid
Due to an unfortunate dying genre in the humanities; as a result of the contemporary economic tract
housing, architecture has taken a backburner in the world of art over the last couple of decades.
However, fragments of the beauty created many years ago still exists. Frank Lloyd Wright and Zaha
Hadid, though different in their architectural visions both contributed and continue to contribute to the
art of architecture today, surpassing their existence here on earth. While gender differences are
evident, both renowned architects overcame obstacles to achieve a legacy far greater than expected.
Wright, withstanding an era negatively impacted by race and war persevered through, managing his

In 1887 Wright dropped out of college, finding his passion for architecture and going on to work for
Silsbee in Chicago. A year later, Wright began an apprenticeship with the Chicago architectural firm
of Adler and Sullivan, working directly under Louis Sullivan, the great American architect best known
as the father of skyscrapers. (Biography, n.d.). Soon after Wright started to work for Sullivan he
married Catherine Tobin, and the duo eventually went on to have 6 children together. Over the next 20
years Wright designed a series of residences and public buildings that became known as the leading
examples of the Prairie School of architecture (Biography, n.d.). Between the years of 1909 and 1914
Wright experienced tragedy. After 20 years of marriage Wright left his wife and children and went on
a hiatus to Germany with a new lover, Mamah Borthwick Cheney who was also the wife of a client. It
was in 1914 when Wright and his new lover returned to Wisconsin where Wright decided to build
them a home. Unfortunately, tragedy struck when a deranged servant burned the house to the ground,
killing Wrights lover and 6 other people. In 1928 Wright married his third wife, Olga Lazovich
Milanov. In the early 1930 s the depression hit, unable to continue on with any architecture; Wright
dedicated himself to teaching. In 1932, Wright founded the Taliesin Fellowship, an immersive
architectural school based out of his own home and studio (Biography, n.d.). Wright

God Of War Research Paper
The world was changing. It had now been 200 years since the United States of America had fallen and
with it monotheism. The world was observed upon by four Gods known to the people as The Square.
The Square consisted of the God of War, the God of the Sea, the God of the Sky, and the fourth was un
known. Legend states the fourth will rise when needed to resolve a conflict like no other. Many self
centered leaders had claimed themselves to be the fourth member of The Square but ironically in all
cases that leader tended to lose power within a year.
Tension had been building between the Northwest (Used to be North America) and Southwest (Used

James T. Russell and the Invention of the Compact Disc Essay
James T. Russell and the Invention of the Compact Disc
James Russell was born in Bremerton, Washington in 1931. His first invention, at six years old, was a
remote control battleship with a storage chamber for his lunch. In 1953, he earned his Bachelor of Arts
in physics and graduated from Reed College in Portland. Afterwards he went to work as a Physicist in
General Electric s nearby labs in Richland, Washington. There he started many experimental
instrumentation projects. He was one of the first to use a color TV screen and keyboard with a
computer. He designed and built the first electron beam welder.

Bettelle let him pursue his project and in 1970, after years of work, he succeeded in inventing the first
digital to optical recording and playback system, the CD.
A CD is a simple round piece of plastic about 4/100ths of an inch thick, and 12 centimeters in
diameter used for electronic recording, storing, and playback. Most of a CD consists of an injection
moulded piece of clear polycarbonate plastic. During manufacturing, this plastic
is impressed with microscopic bumps arranged as a single, continuous, extremely long spiral track of
data circling from the inside of the disc to the outside. Once the clear piece of polycarbonate is
formed, a thin, reflective aluminum layer is put onto the disc, covering the bumps. Then a thin acrylic
layer is sprayed over the aluminum to protect it, and the CD label is printed onto the acrylic. The
compact disc was first used for audio storage only, but are now used to store audio, video, text, and
any other information in digital form, and are able to hold 783 megabytes in all.
The CD works, because binary information is

Tesla Ratios
While financial statements can be quite extensive, it is important for companies to completely
understand all aspects of their statements. In regards to the balance sheet, there are financial ratios that
can be computed in order to determine the profitability, liquidity, and solvency of a company. Both
Ford and Tesla are large car companies that have lots of assets. By examining the current ratio for both
companies, accountants, investors and creditors can assess the liquidity and efficiency for Tesla and
Ford to pay off their short term liabilities with its current assets. The current ratio is a very significant
measure tool as these short term liabilities would be due within the next year. Thus, the companies
have a limited time to acquire the funds necessary to pay off the liabilities. Current assets such as cash
or cash equivalents can be easily liquidated. Typically, assets on the balance sheet are listed in order of
easiest liquidity. If companies have large current assets, then they will be able ... Show more content

liabilities are $20,272,000 (Figure B). Tesla has a current liability ratio of .991 while Ford has a
current liability ratio of 7.176 (Figure X). By comparing both ratios, Ford seems to have just about the
same number of current assets and current liabilities. Tesla, however, has about 7 times more current
assets than current liabilities. A higher current ratio is always more favorable than a lower current ratio
because it shows how quickly a company can pay off current

Silence Breakers Speech
Speak Up
When a voice breaks the silence, it commands attention; it commands to be heard. In Time magazine s
article The Silence Breakers , there are numerous stories of people who found their voice and spoke up
in regards to sexual harassment and assault. People should always use their voices and help others
who have no voice regarding sexual harassment and assault. The more people use their voice, the
harder it is for them to be ignored.
People must be willing to speak up more about the injustice that has been deeply rooted into our
society, for it is harder to be ignored the less silent they are; for how can a issue be resolved if no one
knows there is an issue. The #MeToo movement was a way for people to use their voices regarding

Before the #MeToo movement and the Weinstein scandal there was virtually no outlets for victims to
go for help. Sexual assault and harassment is a topic that has been left in the dark for far too long and
there needs to be more prominent action and legislation to help deter these grotesque acts from
happening. New legislation should be passed to provide stricter punishments to those who choose to
sexually assault people. A well known case of sexual assault occurred at Stanford College where
Brock Turner only received a six month sentence for sexually assaulting a female student there. Turner
then only served three out of six months of his sentence (Gagnon and Grinberg). Sexual assault and
harassment is a topic that people must pay attention too. For on average, there are 321,500 victims
(age 12 or older) of rape and sexual assault each year in the United States alone ( Victims of Sexual
Violence: Statistics ). All of those victims need to be heard and they need the outlets to be heard.
#MeToo provided what people needed. It encouraged people to use their voices and to speak up about
what had happened to them. Time s magazine article The Silence Breakers also made people more
aware about what the victims go through and what they still face post trauma. The more people talk
about sexual assault and harassment, the more people cannot ignore that fact that it happens every day

Static Stretching Benefits
Almost every athlete from amateur to professional stretches before exercise, and coaches and trainers
have recommended static stretching as an essential part of a warm up routine for years. But why do we
stretch? What do we gain from this routine? Stretching increases flexibility, but many people stretch
specifically before exercise to gain additional benefits, mainly enhanced athletic performance, reduced
muscle soreness, and injury prevention. However, research suggests that stretching does not provide
these additional benefits in any significant amount. There is very little evidence that supports the
claims people make about the benefits of stretching before exercise, but there is no evidence that it is
harmful. It is simply overrated because it does not provide the benefits people think it does. Static
stretching before exercise is unnecessary because it does not improve athletic performance, prevent
muscle soreness or reduce the risk of injury. Although stretching improves flexibility, it does not
improve most athletic performances. Activities such as gymnastics require extreme flexibility, but
most sports and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The main goals of a warm up are to increase blood flow and prepare the body for specific movements,
but static stretching does not accomplish either of these goals. It does not elevate the heart rate
significantly and it does not prepare the body for most movements. Instead of emphasizing static
stretches, a warm up should emphasize dynamic stretches. Dynamic stretches increase blood flow and
move the muscles through their normal range of motion, preparing them for more intense exercises. A
warm up should also include movements that use similar body parts that will be used in the later, more
strenuous movements (Isner). Dynamic stretches should constitute most of the warm up because they

Tale Of The Shoe Internal Conflict
The Tale of the Shoe :
The Tale of a Struggle Within
The passage from Emma Donoghue s, The Tale of the Shoe, advances the idea that the struggle
between good and evil does not have to be presented through physical entities that it can be developed
through an internal conflict, which is shown through the use of agency and sensory experience.
In the well known Cinderella story the antagonists are the evil stepmother and her two daughters, an
external force that attempts to cause suffering for and to control Cinderella. Donoghue s version of the
story argues that this perception of evil is not the only one that exists that evil can come from an inner
source. This is expressed via the manipulation of agency. Although the story is told in third person
limited, the agency of other forces seeps into the narrative. The antagonists take the form of voices.
The voices become a character of their own they have the ability to ask questions and scold the
narrator, They asked why I was still alive (Donoghue 2). These voices force the protagonist to perform
the traditional chores that Cinderella does, Nobody made me do the things...The shrill ... Show more

The pain is caused by the evil within her and this restricts her. This restriction is seen with her speech,
Every word that came out of my mouth limped away like a toad (Donoghue 1). The fact that the story
opens with a line about the sensation of feeling or touch, Till she came it was all cold (Donoghue 1)
foreshadows that the she who comes will right all the wrongs with the protagonists touch or senses.
The evil within the narrator can only be solved with the help of the woman, who evokes the good part
of the senses. Sensory experience is re established as helpful with the sight of beauty and goodness,
from the woman from the fire, Her eyes had flames in their centers, and her eyebrows were silvered

Change In Fahrenheit 451
Can it be possible for people to change how they see and interpret the world? In Ray Bradbury s
Fahrenheit 451, Montag leaves his past, ultimately changing the way he thinks. In the passage Montag
has just escaped the Hound as well as his previous life, and is being carried away by the river into the
forest while thinking about his future. The revelation in this passage is a culmination of all the
knowledge that Montag acquires throughout the book. Ray Bradbury conveys to the reader how
finally leaving his old world has completed the change inside of Montag through the use of metaphors
and repetition.
The first way the author describes how Montag feels about the fakeness present in the world of his
past is through the use of metaphors. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Throughout this passage, the word burn progresses over time from burning, to burned, to burnt. This
relates to what Montag is thinking, and brings him to his realization that the firemen need to stop
burning books. This is reinforced by the metaphor of The sun burning every day. It burned time.... So
if he burnt things with the firemen, and the sun burnt Time, that meant that everything burnt!
(Bradbury 140 141). The burning of the sun and it s likening to time and how the firemen and Montag
burn tells that too much is being burned as well as destroyed. At this point the change within Montag
is completed, and is shown by the metaphor of Now the guild of the asbestos weaver must open shop
very soon (Bradbury 141). The guild of asbestos weavers refers to the intellectuals in his past
community, who need to come forth and share the good that comes from having individual
knowledge. Bradbury ends the metaphor with telling the reader that the weavers must open shop very
soon, making the reader aware that change needs to happen. And this begins by coming forth with
knowledge and stopping the firemen. Somewhere the saving and putting away had to begin again and
someone had to do the saving and keeping (Bradbury 141), as he realizes the importance of preserving
books and gleaning important information and knowledge from them. Bradbury s use of the saving
and keeping is to emphasize to the reader that those who care enough to make change happen are the
one s who must step up, and enforce change. Protecting these books is an significant task that is key to
the greater good of society and future

Transvestitism Essay
Transvestitism
In the last few decades, there has been a rapid change in social attitude towards so called sexual
problems. There has been a call for the freedom to live in the style of which one chooses, so long as
no one else is harmed in the process. One area that appears little understood, however, is
transvestitism, or cross dressing. In order to gain some knowledge about this phenomenon, there are
many aspects of transvestitism that should be examined, some being: history, societal views, the gay
versus straight issue, and women dressing as men.
Transvestitism has a long history, ranging from mythical figures to medieval saints who cross dressed;
from the many instances of berdache in anthropological literature to historical ... Show more content

Why, then are most cross dressers secretive about their affection for this? According to Dr. Peggy
Rudd (1995), most are secretive, because they have many fears related to the consequences of having
their big secret discovered. In general, non participants do not consider transvestitism, socially
acceptable. Many cross dressers fear the detrimental effects upon other family members, and many are
concerned about the possibility of losing their job as a result of coming out.
Some cross dressers feel guilty because society has placed them into stereotypes, including the
incorrect assumption that all cross dressers are gay, or that all transvestites are potential transsexuals.
To the contrary, while some are gay, most cross dressers want to share their life with a woman, and the
number of gay males is far less among crossdressers than among the general population (Rudd, 1995).
Most identify primarily as a male who has, and retains, male gender identity. Often they are married,
and the father of children. (Prince, 1971) This in itself presents the question of whether or not to tell
spouses, and/or, their children about this. Many do not, out of fear of being seen as deviant, and
perhaps losing those most dear to them. It is a natural thing for cross dressers to want to share all of
themselves with those they love, but as there is risk of rejection, many choose to wait until they feel
comfortable that the risk has lessened, or keep it a secret forever.

19th Century Jewish Culture Essay
Emancipation and enlightenment were pivotal aspects of Jewish history and culture beginning in the
eighteenth century and continuing through to the twentieth century. Influential political figures such as
Mendelssohn laid the framework for Jewish political and social freedoms. This was a direct response
to the oppression and anti Semitism Jewish people have faced for hundreds of thousands of years.
These harsh restrictions placed on Jews worldwide included, the prohibition of full citizenship,
coerced into assimilation, programs, all eventually leading up to the terrors of the Holocaust. The late
nineteenth century, beginning with the year 1881 was an especially critical time for Russian Jewry.
During this time, Tsar Alexander II was assassinated. Russian citizens naturally used the Jews as
scapegoats as it was speculated that the Jews were responsible for his untimely death. This was highly
detrimental for the Jewish people as anti semitism soon became a state policy in Russia. As a result,
Russian Jews were subjected to brutal violence also known as pograms. ... Show more content on

Superbowl Essay
The Story of The NFL Shop Family The Superbowl is one of the most widely watched television
events in the nation every year. Unlike many other sporting events, the Superbowl is not watched by
fans of the sport alone, but by just about anyone with access to a television. Growing up, my brother
was the only avid sports fan in the house, but every year the whole family would crowd around the TV
to watch The Superbowl. My brother excluded, we did this not out of real interest for the sport of
Football, but because we wanted to see all of the brand new (and hopefully emotionally arousing)
commercials that air during the Superbowl. Through the years, the Superbowl has actually become
known for this aspect. Recently certain websites have even began holding an annual ranking for the
best and worst Superbowl commercials each year. Though I wasn t particularly interested in the
Superbowl last year, one commercial still stands out to me almost eight months later. It is a
commercial for nflshop.com, and it seems to convey the story of a family that begins as Vikings fans
but over time expands into a family of Vikings, Bengals, Eagles, Steelers, and Cowboys fans.
Depending on the viewer s perspective on the commercial, in its short 30 second duration the
advertisement either tells the story of a touching progressive family molded by life experiences or of a
very noncommittal family with various impractical team affiliations. Either by alienation or affection

The Discovery of Ebla and The Relations Between...
The discovery of Ebla gave us a wealth of information on the Near East in the 3rd millennium BCE
but its greatest contribution is to our understanding of the complex and economic relationships
between the cities of Mesopotamia and Syria. Ebla was a diplomatic based empire and due to its
unique geographical location, it had a key role in managing and conducting relations between early
North West Syria and Upper Mesopotamia (Matthiae 1976, 112). Due to these active relations with
other cities it was stimulated to absorb cultural elements from the Sumerian and Mesopotamian worlds
(Matthiae 1980a, 161). Ebla s political structure, language, religion and art all reflect evidence of

There is also an abundance of texts in the archives referring to Kish, Mari, and Emar, in particular,
which indicates that there was contact between scribal circles in Northern Syria and Mesopotamia and
that this contact was continuous (Matthiae 1980a, 159). The discovery of objects made in Ebla but
found in places like Sumer, Ur, Mari and Kish such as composite statues and cylinder seals (Matthiae
1980a, 151) highlights once more that trade and contact between cities was an essential part of the
Syrian and Mesopotamian culture and that Ebla itself was a booming economic centre.
Ebla was an incredibly sophisticated city, located on the highest tell in the landscape to mark its
dominance (Matthiae 1980a, 219). The actual extent of the city is unknown but it is suspected to have
had a common frontier with Emar on the Euphrates to the north east, and with Hamar in the south
(Matthiae 1980a, 173). Its interaction with the near lesser cities isn t precisely known but Matthiae
(1980a, 170) speculates that it was a policy of control but not one that required the elimination of each
cities individual culture. There were three different possible forms of control Ebla may have had over
the surrounding territories (Matthiae 1980a, 187).

Public Service Is A High Calling
Public service is a high calling. A calling that certain individuals who are compassionate and
enthusiastic about serving their communities at large are willing to dedicate their profession and skills
to. Although there are many challenges in managing a public organization, great leaders are those who
have taken this opportunity and have inspired their work to be bigger than themselves in hopes to
motivate those around them to do good work. The development of our societies depends on the efforts
of the public sector such as education, environmental services, health and social care, that are
fundamental to peoples lives. Therefore, it is important that an effective leader in the public sector
who is much more than knowing the job and how to manage workloads and staff. There are many
behaviors and traits that have been linked to successful leaders, and more specifically, those who have
dedicated their careers to the public.
Leadership is formally defined as the exercise of authority, whether formal or informal, in directing
and coordinating the work of others (Shafritz, Russell and Borick, 361). However, challenges surfaced
in the public sector such as overcoming political and governmental pressures, inadequate training of
staff, high employee turnover, and possibly weak management skills in lower levels causes front

European Legacies Of Colonial Power
European colonialism has a lasting legacies on many African countries. European colonialism started
in the late 1900 s and continued until after World War II. Colonialism is a system in which one country
takes control of the political and economic affairs of another nation, and imposes policies to control
another nation. In the 17th century colonizing parts of Africa became popular European countries. In
the year 1677, France colonized their first African country, Senegal. Specifically, an area called Saint
Louis. France was most interested in Senegal for their easy access to the Gambia river to increase
access to trade routes. During this time France and Britain were fighting over African countries that
had easy access the Gambia river.. Earlier, 1638 the french established trade routes in Senegal.
(historyworld.net). Later, 1677 France was able to seize Senegal for the Dutch which made Senegal
France s first colonized county. European nations decided to colonize the rest of Africa during the
Berlin Conference that took place. Between 1884 1885 Europeans carved up part of Africa and
claimed them as their own. Senegal has a reputation of being one of the better treated legacies of
colonial power. However, there are still legacies of colonial power which shapes how Senegal is today.

of French rule. During the early stages however, residents of Goree, Dakar, Rufisque

Drug Education is More Beneficial than Drug Legalization
There are great numbers of people in Australia who believe that legalizing hard drugs, such as heroin,
speed, cocaine etc, would improve the drug problem. This may be a true statement, however such
legalization is yet to be proven, and can cause some severe consequences, which outweigh the
possible benefits. Such consequences include an increase in uncontrolled use and thus increases in
overdosing and intravenous (I.V.) transmitted diseases.
For several decades drugs have been one of the major problems of society. There have been escalating
costs spent on the war against drugs and countless dollars spent on rehabilitation, but the problem still
exists. Not only has the drug ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Drugs should remain illegal in Australia because there would be an increase of drug abuse and a rapid
increase of diseases such as AIDS.
The belief that legalizing drugs would lessen crime exists in many communities. They point out that
the legalization of drugs would deter future criminal acts and they emphasize prohibition. When the
public realized that Prohibition could not be enforced the law was removed. This is true of alcohol,
however drugs should not be legalized because there would be an increase in drug abuse due to its
availability, of which there was little before. Once legalized, drugs would become cheaper and more
accessible to people who previously had not tried drugs, because of the high price or the legal risk.
Addicts who tend to stop, not by choice, but because the drugs aren t accessible would now feed the
addiction if drugs were made legal. These drug addicts would not be forced to kick the habit due to the
availability of the drug they would partake eagerly. The temptation to use drugs would increase when
news reports of cocaine, heroin and speed s legalization are shown on television and in newspapers.
Instead of money used by employed addicts, you will see welfare funds used to purchase drugs. If
welfare funds were to be misused, a major problem in the economy could occur.
Health officials have shown that the legalization of drugs would cause a rapid

Navy Narrative Report
January 5th 2017 will mark the 30 year anniversary of my military career. I spent 16 years as an
enlisted Sailor in the Navy and the key transformational experience for me was when my Chief
suggested that I submit for the Navy Reserve Direct Commission Program. This is a program that will
take an enlisted Sailor and grant them a military officer commission with a swipe of pen. Officer
Candidate School, Reserve Officers Training Corps or attendance in a Service academy is not
required. Simply said, one day you are an E 6 Petty Officer and the next you are an O 1 Ensign. I

Numerous schools, seminars, training conferences have supplied me with data and formulas to work
through situations and scenarios. Working with great leaders I emulated their mannerisms. The poor
leaders I have encountered over the years have showed me how not to lead like them. However, what
cannot be taught in my opinion, is judgement, character, core values and moral principles. It is my
belief that if a leader truly relies on his moral compass for direction and code of conduct there must
absolutely be full accountability and responsibility for personal actions. This obligation will transcend
across all other facets of the leader s life and influence his behavior and the behavior of his
subordinates and peers. Leaders must make decisions on a daily basis that affect others, and in the
case of a decision during war, this could mean the difference between life and death. Accountability
and responsibility for personal actions forces a leader to really dig deep and make decisions they are
willing to defend. There is no one to blame, no one to pass the buck to and no way to evade
responsibility. Accountability forces honesty, because if you cannot be accountable and responsibility
for your own actions it is inherently dishonest. This is tough part of leadership that has challenged me.

Sexual Intercourse Within The Human Species
Introduction Sexual intercourse is an intriguing, yet touchy subject to most individuals. There are
nearly as many different beliefs in regards to the act of sex as there are for something as prominent
and controversial as religion. It is a topic that the majority of individuals do not want to discuss, yet it
is something that the majority of everyone is intrigued about. Throughout this research paper we will
take a closer look at sexual intercourse within the human species by attempting to define what sex is,
find out who partakes in this deed, determine when it is typically done, and finally reveal why it is
done.
What Is Sex? While the title begins with the pronoun who, not the pronoun what, it will be much

All of these communications assume that the speakers and listeners share a definition of sex that is
clear, consistent across situations, and unbiased by personal motives. In fact, there is limited research
evaluating individuals definitions of sex, and the research that does exist seems based on implicit
assumptions that may be problematic in some ways. (Peterson Muehlenhard, 2007, p. 256 268)
This statement is implying that they back the notion that the definition of sex is still unknown; one
hundred different individuals would give you one hundred different definitions of the enigmatic term
sex . Additionally, this confusion is established in an article by Judith Mackay (2011) when she states
that sex research, where it exists, is usually fertility related rather than sex oriented. Even definitions
vary. There is no agreed definition of sex counseling, obscenity, or even what people mean by the term
sex, all making comparable analysis difficult. But there is no way that we could go any further into
this research without establishing a set definition, so the misperception must end now. For the sake of
this research paper, sex will be defined as any vaginal, anal, or oral intercourse between two or more
individuals. These three different forms of sex are often involved in sexual intercourse, but these terms
can be ambiguous to many customary individuals. Each of these different forms of sex varies from
one another, all offering something

A Career As A Radical Feminist
Radical feminists have paved the way for so many women to stand up for themselves. Many rights
were made available to all women because of radical feminists. Their presence, their energy, their
ideology was desperately needed during a difficult time of oppression. Some feminine acts of
oppression are still frowned upon today as a form of oppression. I would rather be a bad feminist then
to not a feminist at all , a quote by Roxanne Gay, but in this generation why should feminists have to
choose between being a good or bad feminist?
Radical feminism, starting around the 1960s, sought to eradicate male supremacy. This wave of
feminists believe that men are the main source of oppression and if you eliminate patriarchy, then

I think a lot of the ideology from radical feminism is still used by feminist today and Gay highlights
this problem in Bad Feminist. Feminists denounce other feminists for wanting to engage in activities
that radical feminists would not approve of. Which tears down the movement, in my opinion.
Anything that is woman like, or typical behavior for women, gets disapproval. There are women who

The Sculpture Of The Etruscan- Roman Tradition
In the early official and private portrait of the Etruscan Roman tradition, the achievement of sculpture
from the identity of the ideal Republican demonstrated motivation behind the virtus, veristic, and

Two Ancestors is a life size marble statue that was dated to the period of the Emperor Augustus
somewhere at the end of the 1st century BCE or the beginning of the 1st century CE, reflecting the
practices that have originated from the past by Polybius.
This Etruscan Roman piece of art is detailed all around, but also ideal as depictions look influential
throughout the generations from the living patrician man holding the lifeless portrait busts of the two
very distinct ancestors. The surface of the marble used to carve the male figure, and the portrait heads
is very smooth and pale in colour, as the natural agent simulates realistic complexion through the
veins present within the marble creating a three dimensional illusion of meticulous naturalistic
rendition of the human anatomy engraved with relief detail all around. The function of the portrait
sculpture was to have a permanent documentation motivated by the realistic commemoration of one s
ancestors in a religious and ritualistic funeral use of death masks, that would have been cast from the
face of the deceased. This became an obvious style of presenting recognizable prestige that conveyed

How Women Are Treated in India
In many parts of the world females still have very little rights. Indeed, equality between men and
women have been accepted by the majority of the developed countries, but developing countries still
struggle to see women as equals to men, and India is one of the worst. Currently, the Indian National
Congress Party is only 10% female, limiting the say women get. In India, women are definitely not
seen as equals to men are being treated like second rate citizens. It also really says something about
the inequality in a country when its women are so used to being treated badly most of them do not
even recognize that they have rights. In India, men were always valued more than women, which is
why an estimated ten million female foetuses are aborted every year. The lack of females in areas
leads to crimes like human trafficking for sexual reasons like giving birth to more children. Old
traditions and beliefs are the main reasons to why millions of female foetuses are aborted every year,
but it is also the reason behind bride burning, another serious issue in India.
Bride burning, also known as dowry death occurs quite frequently in India. It is when the husband or
the in laws decide that the dowry the bride offers is not enough and demands more. If the bride refuses
or is financially not able to increase her dowry, she is tortured until she either agrees or dies; otherwise
she is murdered by her family . The husbands and the in laws usually disguise the deaths as accidents

Freedom of contract is the right to choose ones contracting parties and to trade with them on any terms

main notion or ideology of freedom of contract was given one of it its most famous legal expressions

A case example would be Hutton v warren
Another method would be terms implied as fact are based on the imputed intention of the parties and
the courts have more than one way to imply this within a contract and therefore two tests have been
developed, first of all the officious bystander test which originated from the shirlaw v southern
foundries 1926 ( remember to reference LJ mackinnon prima facie) which in practically had an
officious bystander been present at the time the contract was being made and had suggested that a
such a term should be included, it must be obvious that both parties would have agreed to it.
The second test is the Business efficacy test (mention Moorcock) this asks whether the term is
necessary to give the contract business efficacy for instance would the contract make business sense
without it. The courts will only imply a term where is necessary to do so (contract law by Neil
Andrews 2015 pg 333 13.01 (4) ) but yet it is argued that (try to mention a case) the officious by
stander test trumps the test in the Moorcock (1889): if a putative term which is supported by the
business efficacy does not also satisfy the officious bystander test the courts will refuse to recognise it
as term to be implied in fact (paraphrase this text:) (Contract law by Neil Andrews 2015 pg 342 13.10)
Furthermore there would be circumstances in which courts will realise that the officious bystander rule

History Of The Campaign Finance
History of The Campaign Finance in the U.S
Campaign finance in the United States is the financing of electoral campaigns at the federal, state, and
local levels. At the federal level, campaign finance law is enacted by Congress and enforced by the
Federal Election Commission (FEC), an independent federal agency. Although more campaign
spending is privately financed, public financing is available for qualifying candidates for President of
the United States during both the primaries and the general election. Eligibility requirements must be
fulfilled to qualify for a government subsidy, and those that do accept government funding are usually
subject to spending limits on money.
To gain votes from recently enfranchised, unpropertied voters, Andrew Jackson launched his
campaign for the 1828 election through a network of partisan newspapers across the nation. After his
election, Jackson began a political patronage system that rewarded political party operatives, which
had a profound effect on future elections. Eventually, appointees were expected to contribute portions
of their pay back to the political party. During the Jacksonian era, some of the first attempts were
made by corporations to influence politicians. Jackson claimed that his charter battle against the
Second Bank of the United States was one of the great struggles between democracy and the money

Social Classes During The Elizabethan Era Social Hierarchy
During the reign of Queen Elizabeth I, the social classes and the inheritance of the throne relied upon
family lines and marriage. The social classes went from the workers to the monarch. The difference
between the comforts of those who lived more lavish lives and those who lived paycheck to paycheck
varied widely. The monarch who ruled the throne depended upon their importance or the importance
of who they are married to. In the time of Queen Elizabeth, the social classes started with her at the
top. She became Queen at the age of twenty five and reigned until her death in 1603. During this time
period, civilization thought that God chose the rulers of their country to represent Him ( Elizabethan

A recent example of this is the marriage of Duchess Kate of Cambridge to Prince William. She had no
royal status before her marriage, although her father had connections to some of the nobility ( Kate

Elizabeth did not marry nor did she have any children to marry foreigners. The Parliament urged her
to marry or to choose someone to take the throne after she passed, but she felt that by choosing
someone to take her place was to go against God in having a righteous ruler (Barbour et al. 51). The
social classes, their treatment, and the rule of the throne all work together, and under Queen Elizabeth
s rule, they all changed for the better. There were five social classes during the sixteenth century, some
with corresponding sub classes. These classes were kept separate by the rules of Parliament that didn t
allow the lower classes to have as many things as the upper classes. Queen Elizabeth I had great rule
over her kingdom, but she did not extend her family line with marriage nor children. The social
systems of the time are not much different than the hierarchy in modern day

negotiation, adjustment, and adaptation. In the honeymoon phase, a person is likely to get excited
about being in a new place, meeting new people, tasting new foods, and acquiring new habits.
However, as time passes by, they get into a phase of negotiation, where the differences between the
culture one is used to and the one they find themselves in start to become apparent. Feelings of
anxiety, anger, and frustrations start to take shape as unfavorable events perceived as strange come in
the way of the person s life, especially if a person does not feel accepted in the new culture
(Mukherjee 273). Loneliness may set in, and the urge to go back to the familiar culture strongly comes
into play. However, as time goes by, adjustment sets in, usually within six to twelve months, and one
gets accustomed to the culture and also comes up with a routine. By this phase, one knows what is
expected of them, and life once again becomes normal.

Latter-Ward Family Reunion
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints hosted its first Blythe Ward Family Reunion on
Saturday, July 22.
Inviting neighbors and friends to come out and attend Pioneer Day, Blytheonians used the library at
the Family History Center, located inside the church, to traced back their roots to who they are and
where they come from. Family comes in all shapes and sizes; color, similarities and differences, but at
the heart of it all, family is the solidified foundation to one belonging and feeling loved.
As the lead consultant at the Blythe Family History Center, Alice Dean and volunteers from the Lake
Havasu Ward helped people discover their lineage and build their family tree.

Fox Searchlight Research Paper
One major social influence that has a drastic effect on Fox Searchlight Pictures is the targeted
population of millennials. Throughout the past decade, film companies have been remaking successful
films in order to hold their grasp on the younger audience. Going to the movies was a daily routine for
many individuals; however, this has recently become a fairly rare occurrence as films are easily
accessible through streaming services. This aspect has a significant impact on the films that Fox
Searchlight produces (Thompson, 2016). b

Additionally, there have been numerous articles surfacing regarding racism and sexism within the film
industry. Many individuals have come forward stating that they are treated differently because of their
background and gender. With this in mind, films have begun to drastically improve the equality behind
their products and bring to light the controversies happening around the world; this can be seen
through movies like Moonlight (Petit, 2017).
LEGAL: Since the 1990 s, the internet has been a wonderful place to stay connected, share content

the years, individuals have shared videos with music or films without providing the correct

unfortunately, not enough to stop this from happening. This situation is have a damaging effect on film

February Revolution Research Outline
I. Introduction
Rebellions and revolution are the mere foundation and past history of many countries and
organizations.
Whether it is the Russian Revolution, which consisted of the February Revolution, or the animals in
Animal Farm, the outcome of the uprisings include many bloody murders and deaths.
Revolts may be good for the future, but they have the potential to cause numerous civilian and
innocent casualties; they are better left to have the government or command power collapse on their
own.
II. Body Paragraph 1: Casualties of the February Revolution

October Revolution; also suited the characters accordingly.
Now, comrades...to the hayfield! Let us make it a point of honour to get in the harvest more quickly
than Jones and his men could do (Orwell 11)

Who Is Alfred Higgins Dishonest
Have you ever stolen anything?Because Alfred Higgins has stolen some things. In the story All the
Years of her life by Morley Callaghan, is about Alfred Higgins was working for Sam Carr in a
drugstore. Alfred was asked to stay behind because Sam carr thinks that Alfred was stealing. One
character that stands out is Alfred Higgins because he is the main character and he was taking stuff
from his boss. We think that he has been stealing things for a while. This character can be described as
sneaky, bold and dishonest because he was taking things from his boss behind his back.
Alfred Higgins can be described as sneaky for many reasons. One example is when Alfred was putting
different things in his pocket he took a blue compact, two tubes of toothpaste and a lipstick. On page
173 it says Just a moment, Alfred one moment before you go. Maybe you d be good enough to take a
few things out of your pocket and leave them here before you go. This shows that Alfred Higgins was
being sneaky because he was stealing things from his boss but he was trying to get away with the
things i his pocket. From this example it is clear that Alfred Higgins is sneaky because he was taking
things that was not his. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Questions For The Glass Castle By Jeannette Walls
1. Fire is a major theme in The Glass Castle. Jeannette becomes very fascinated by fire which
continues throughout the novel. The first you hear of fire is when Jeannette is burned while cooking
hotdogs at the age of three. Though she suffers extreme injuries, Jeannette becomes extremely
fascinated by fire. In the novel, she cannot keep herself from playing with it and watching it. In The
Glass Castle there are a number of other fires that burn houses, sheds, and injure other people like
Jeannette. The theme of fire can relate to chaos between family and other people mentioned in this
book.
2. Jeannette always admired her parents despite the way that they chose to live. Even though both
parents were both intelligently capable, they chose to live homeless. They both chose their own
welfare over their children. With parents like hers, Jeannette took what good she could from her ...

past. She had never shared her story before because she was ashamed of her life. Jeannette begins the
story by sharing what gave her the courage to write it down.
9. Rose Mary Walls acts as a person who focuses on herself only. In the novel, she loses or quits her
jobs to peruse a career as an artist. In doing this, the family is not making money. Due to her actions,
Rose Mary Walls is adding to the poverty of the Walls family. At times, she acts more like a child then
a mother. You catch Mrs. Walls throwing tantrums, skipping work, etc.
10. Rex Walls tends to make up fascinating explanations and stories to keep his children from thinking
they are lesser then others based on how much money they have. As children, they were given stars as
gifts instead of material items. The children found the stories interesting and entertaining. As the Walls

Employee Productivity Is The Backbone Of Any Enterprise
Chapter 1: Problem Definition
Background
Employee productivity, also known as workforce productivity, is the backbone of any enterprise.
According to Amabile and Kramer (2012), the source of productivity at any company ...is the
individual knowledge workers who get things done every day (para. 1). And according to Axilrod
(2015), the typical employee is at his or her desk for an average of approximately five hours a day,
paid for by the company. Thus, in the current climate of globalization, outsourcing, downsizing, and
pension reduction, it is vital for administration and management to stay on top of what sustains
employee loyalty and employee productivity. Several elements contribute to effective employee
productivity, including employee job satisfaction and morale (Axilrod, 2015; Manson, 2014; Jarrow,
2013; Kaupelyte, 2013; Turner, 2013; Amabile Kramer, 2012; Walters, 2010; Bowles Cooper, 2009).
Neely (2013) asserts that Regardless of the profession or type of work, the central element that has
had a stake in productivity, longevity and overall success of any organization [is] employee morale (p.
13).
The technology sector is one of the fastest growing in the business, if not the fastest growing sector.
Like many others in other sectors, companies in the technology sector are facing the challenges of
employee productivity and are initiating actions toward performance management (Axilrod, 2015) to

Examining the Relined Processes within RedLine identifies one candidate with the name svchost.exe .
This is a common windows process for Windows computers. However, this process is located in
location that is not C:windowssystem32svchost.exe , which may be the indication of a malware,
named Shellbot , disguised as a Windows process. This program is known to copy files, change
system function and security, connect to IRC remote server, and help implement DDoS attacks
(Spyware net Database, 2016). Appendix A, figure 5 shows the anomalous file location and associated

Moreover, while looking at processes not identified as a threat by RedLine, one more suspicious
process was identified. This process is named UPnP.exe . This innocuous looking file is an executable
file that can be used to capture keyboard and mouse input and send it to a remote location (Spyware
net Database, 2016). All three of these processes are illustrated in Appendix A, figure 4. Additionally,
all of these processes can be identified by performing a hidden/terminated process scan ( psscan )

The External Environment Of Heineken
External environment
According to research (In home drinking, UK, June 2009), there is a decline in demand for beer. As
people are stimulated to have a healthier lifestyle, demand for beer has slightly dropped. As supply
remains constant and demand drops, chances are Heineken gets stuck with superfluous inventory.
Furthermore, in the UK in 2008 alone, tax on beer has been increased by 18%, discouraging people to
consume beer. This rapid change in environment did not get any response from Heineken. As tax
increased by 18%, Heineken raised its prices by 18% (or more) as well, as did their competitors. After
all, profit margins still have to be kept by every profit organisation.
Over the past couple of years, part of Heineken s external environment ... Show more content on

In organisational structure, the culture part refers to a system of shared meaning within an
organisation, as is explained by Robbins and Barnwell.
Heineken claims that its culture is based on four fundamental principles: respect, passion, code of
business conduct and enjoy responsibly. These principles confer high values to the firm, as it acts in a
sustainable way and tries to create the maximum value for the customers. However, these principles
are given by the company itself, thus cannot be entirely reliable as it tries to promote itself. It is not
possible to identify the full truth about Heineken s culture, because the company has never been
involved in any major scandal.
Another interesting feature of Heinekens internal environment can be found in the annual report of
Heineken, which makes clear that the majority of permanent contracts is held by men; the number of
men with a permanent contract is 53,679, whereas only 12,649 women have a permanent contract at
Heineken. This fact shows that the company is predominately masculine (, but it may be important to
note that almost half of the directors on the board of directors are female). However the company
should try to overcome this discrepancy, in order to prevent any accuses of Heineken hiring and
promoting men rather

The Gap in Social Classes in Detroit
With Detroit being the most segregated city in the country, the center with the richest business
industries mixed along with the largest minority middle class anywhere, much controversy is
occurring and it is causing many issues to the surrounding metropolitan area. Due to such a large gap
in social classes, status frustration has led to a spike in racial tensions causing more crime. Because of
this Detroit has become a main focus of many local news reports. Many Detroit residents are
becoming upset with the fact that only negative reports have made the front covers of newspapers
giving Detroit a false image. This has been proven true with many television shows, movies, and
video game images. The previously aired show Detroit 1 8 7, an American crime drama about Detroit
s leading homicide unit, was taken off air because it gave a negative outlook on the Detroit area. The
show s producer, David Zabel stated that even though it was show about crime, there still was an
opportunity to give the city positive light because of the heroic people that do fight for the city s
justice. After reading many commentaries on this show, the conclusion that the people of Detroit say
the people of the city are not as mean and violent as the shows producers make them seem. In 1974,
Detroit was given the nickname of Murder City after more than 700 homicides were committed. Since
this is such a sensitive subject for Detroit citizens, one of the biggest issues with

Herpevac Trial Essay
The Herpevac trial was a randomized, double blind study done by Belshe et. al (2012) was conducted
on HSV 1 and HSV 2 seronegative women. The trial consisted of a HSV 2 vaccine (GlaxoSmithKline)
containing a glycoprotein D from the virus verses an inactivated hepatitis A vaccine (Havrix,
GlaxoSmithKline) as the control. This trial was used to test the theory of two other HSV 2 vaccine
tests among discordinant couples. The Herpevac vaccine was inept against the virus after two doses of
the vaccine, with an overall efficacy of 20%. Despite being ineffectual against HSV 1 and HSV 2, the
vaccine did provide some protection against infection. However, this protective effect was observed
mainly with HSV 1, not with HSV 2. HSV 2 antibodies were detected after the second dose of the
vaccine, but fell to undetectable levels by the 6 month of the study. A third dose was administered; the
levels were detectable again, but fell soon to undetectable ranges soon after. Another study done by
Delgrave et. al (2012) studied the efficacy of using ACAM529, a replication defective vaccine against
HSV 2 administered intramuscularly instead of a subcutaneous injection or intradermal injection.

  • 2. Divine Gods In Gilgamesh Talia Barreira DWC 101 0001 14 September, 2017 The Divine Humanity Though God(s) are thought of as innocent and fair, does that mean that they always behave that way? Flood stories are a common practice in writing for many cultures; they are used for the destruction of mankind and a taught lesson to those in humanity. In the Bible it is shown the wickedness of mankind heart verse the obnoxious disaster the people in the story of Gilgamesh had created, which nevertheless lead to the floods. Not knowing what the outcome would lead to, the enthusiastic men who are a major part of the stories went for this long journey. It is also shown the God of the Bible who is sorrowful for the men he has created verse the Gods who are angry with their dwellers. Before the floods occurred the Gods had to make a decision regarding their people; what was their punishment for their crimes going to be? The Bible expresses God s sadness for his people. He is lost for words at how they think and react to his presence. As emphasized, The Lord saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually (Gen 6. 5). In Gilgamesh the Gods are not saddened by their dwellers like The Lord, instead they were angry at the catastrophic lifestyle the people were living. In both cases though, the Gods were put through enough and came to the conclusion of the floods; with teaching the lesson of respect and honor while also ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Quantitative research is more widely used in psychology, as it is accurate and reliable. It is not concerned with individuality and would not be suitable for this type of research project. Some say that the IPA technique has become very popular amongst students as it focuses on personal lived experience, which fits well with the quantitative method. Within the field of research, there is constant debate on how to determine validity. Elliott, Fischer and Rennie (1999) suggested a quality criterion for qualitative research. Reflexivity is the act of constantly reflecting on oneself as the researcher and the relationship between the interviewee. Reflexivity is important as it is set up to stop the manipulation of results. The researchers has to be aware that their presence alone will affect the outcome of the analysis and it is important that they are aware of this and do all that they can to minimise the effects they have on the respondents. Reflexivity is inextricably linked with accuracy, especially within the relationship between the researcher and the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Apple s Iphone 5 Personal Evaluation Apple s iPhone 5 Personal Evaluation Personal research and evaluations are excellent ways to discover pertinent information about a product that a consumer wishes to purchase. In addition, reviews come from multiple sources: experts or consumers, both play an important role to the consumer and are thought to be valued resources. In fact, reviews and information are easier to acquire due to the modern technology and increased use of the internet among consumers. Reviews and research help consumers to decide whether or not they are going to purchase a specific product, such as Apple s iPhone 5s or the 5c, by providing information and specifications. When comparing consumer reviews along with personal knowledge about the Apple iPhone 5 to expert reviews based on design, software, and functionally, it is clear that personal evaluations are the best, as they are first hand knowledge. This consumer has often considered purchasing Apple s iPhone 5 based on its design, and my desired needs. Most of a CD consists of an injection moulded piece of clear polycarbonate plastic. During manufacturing, this plastic is impressed with microscopic bumps arranged as a single, continuous, extremely long spiral track of data circling from the inside of the disc to the outside. Once the clear piece of polycarbonate is formed, a thin, reflective aluminum layer is put onto the disc, covering the bumps. Then a thin acrylic layer is sprayed over the aluminum to protect it, and the CD label is printed onto the acrylic. In regards to the balance sheet, there are financial ratios that can be computed in order to determine the profitability, liquidity, and solvency of a company. Both Ford and Tesla are large car companies that have lots of assets. By examining the current ratio for both companies, accountants, investors and creditors can assess the liquidity and efficiency for Tesla and Ford to pay off their short term liabilities with its current assets. The current ratio is a very significant measure tool as these short term liabilities would be due within the next year. In Time magazine s article The Silence Breakers , there are numerous stories of people who found their voice and spoke up in regards to sexual harassment and assault. People should always use their voices and help others who have no voice regarding sexual harassment and assault. The more people use their voice, the harder it is for them to be ignored. New legislation should be passed to provide stricter punishments to those who choose to sexually assault people. A well known case of sexual assault occurred at Stanford College where Brock Turner only received a six month sentence for sexually assaulting a female student there. Turner then only served three out of six months of his sentence (Gagnon and Grinberg). Sexual assault and harassment is a topic that people must pay attention too. For on average, there are 321,500 victims (age 12 or older) of rape and sexual assault each year in the United States alone ( Victims of Sexual Violence: Statistics ). All of those victims need to be heard and they need the outlets to be heard. #MeToo provided what people needed. It encouraged people to use their voices and to speak up about what had happened to them. But why do we stretch? What do we gain from this routine? Stretching increases flexibility, but many people stretch specifically before exercise to gain additional benefits, mainly enhanced athletic performance, reduced muscle soreness, and injury prevention. However, research suggests that stretching does not provide these additional benefits in any significant amount. There is very little evidence that supports the claims people make about the benefits of stretching before exercise, but there is no evidence that it is harmful. It is simply overrated because it does not provide the benefits people think it does. Static stretching before exercise is unnecessary because it does not improve athletic performance, prevent muscle soreness or reduce the risk of injury. Dynamic stretches increase blood flow and move the muscles through their normal range of motion, preparing them for more intense exercises. • 12. Tale Of The Shoe Internal Conflict The Tale of the Shoe : The Tale of a Struggle Within The passage from Emma Donoghue s, The Tale of the Shoe, advances the idea that the struggle between good and evil does not have to be presented through physical entities that it can be developed through an internal conflict, which is shown through the use of agency and sensory experience. In the well known Cinderella story the antagonists are the evil stepmother and her two daughters, an external force that attempts to cause suffering for and to control Cinderella. Donoghue s version of the story argues that this perception of evil is not the only one that exists that evil can come from an inner source. This is expressed via the manipulation of agency. Although the story is told in third person limited, the agency of other forces seeps into the narrative. The antagonists take the form of voices. The voices become a character of their own they have the ability to ask questions and scold the narrator, They asked why I was still alive (Donoghue 2). The evil within the narrator can only be solved with the help of the woman, who evokes the good part of the senses. • 13. Change In Fahrenheit 451 Can it be possible for people to change how they see and interpret the world? In Ray Bradbury s Fahrenheit 451, Montag leaves his past, ultimately changing the way he thinks. In the passage Montag has just escaped the Hound as well as his previous life, and is being carried away by the river into the forest while thinking about his future. The revelation in this passage is a culmination of all the knowledge that Montag acquires throughout the book. Ray Bradbury conveys to the reader how finally leaving his old world has completed the change inside of Montag through the use of metaphors and repetition. The first way the author describes how Montag feels about the fakeness present in the world of his past is through the use of metaphors. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Throughout this passage, the word burn progresses over time from burning, to burned, to burnt. This relates to what Montag is thinking, and brings him to his realization that the firemen need to stop burning books. This is reinforced by the metaphor of The sun burning every day. It burned time.... So if he burnt things with the firemen, and the sun burnt Time, that meant that everything burnt! (Bradbury 140 141). The burning of the sun and it s likening to time and how the firemen and Montag burn tells that too much is being burned as well as destroyed. At this point the change within Montag is completed, and is shown by the metaphor of Now the guild of the asbestos weaver must open shop very soon (Bradbury 141). The guild of asbestos weavers refers to the intellectuals in his past community, who need to come forth and share the good that comes from having individual knowledge. Bradbury ends the metaphor with telling the reader that the weavers must open shop very soon, making the reader aware that change needs to happen. And this begins by coming forth with knowledge and stopping the firemen. Somewhere the saving and putting away had to begin again and someone had to do the saving and keeping (Bradbury 141), as he realizes the importance of preserving books and gleaning important information and knowledge from them. • 14. Transvestitism Essay Transvestitism In the last few decades, there has been a rapid change in social attitude towards so called sexual problems. There has been a call for the freedom to live in the style of which one chooses, so long as no one else is harmed in the process. One area that appears little understood, however, is transvestitism, or cross dressing. In order to gain some knowledge about this phenomenon, there are many aspects of transvestitism that should be examined, some being: history, societal views, the gay versus straight issue, and women dressing as men. Transvestitism has a long history, ranging from mythical figures to medieval saints who cross dressed; from the many instances of berdache in anthropological literature to historical ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Why, then are most cross dressers secretive about their affection for this? According to Dr. Peggy Rudd (1995), most are secretive, because they have many fears related to the consequences of having their big secret discovered. In general, non participants do not consider transvestitism, socially acceptable. Many cross dressers fear the detrimental effects upon other family members, and many are concerned about the possibility of losing their job as a result of coming out. Some cross dressers feel guilty because society has placed them into stereotypes, including the incorrect assumption that all cross dressers are gay, or that all transvestites are potential transsexuals. To the contrary, while some are gay, most cross dressers want to share their life with a woman, and the number of gay males is far less among crossdressers than among the general population (Rudd, 1995). Most identify primarily as a male who has, and retains, male gender identity. Often they are married, and the father of children. (Prince, 1971) This in itself presents the question of whether or not to tell spouses, and/or, their children about this. Many do not, out of fear of being seen as deviant, and perhaps losing those most dear to them. It is a natural thing for cross dressers to want to share all of themselves with those they love, but as there is risk of rejection, many choose to wait until they feel comfortable that the risk has lessened, or keep it a secret forever. • 31. History Of The Campaign Finance History of The Campaign Finance in the U.S Campaign finance in the United States is the financing of electoral campaigns at the federal, state, and local levels. At the federal level, campaign finance law is enacted by Congress and enforced by the Federal Election Commission (FEC), an independent federal agency. Although more campaign spending is privately financed, public financing is available for qualifying candidates for President of the United States during both the primaries and the general election. Eligibility requirements must be fulfilled to qualify for a government subsidy, and those that do accept government funding are usually subject to spending limits on money. To gain votes from recently enfranchised, unpropertied voters, Andrew Jackson launched his campaign for the 1828 election through a network of partisan newspapers across the nation. After his election, Jackson began a political patronage system that rewarded political party operatives, which had a profound effect on future elections. The social classes went from the workers to the monarch. The difference between the comforts of those who lived more lavish lives and those who lived paycheck to paycheck varied widely. The monarch who ruled the throne depended upon their importance or the importance of who they are married to. In the time of Queen Elizabeth, the social classes started with her at the top. The Parliament urged her to marry or to choose someone to take the throne after she passed, but she felt that by choosing someone to take her place was to go against God in having a righteous ruler (Barbour et al. 51). The social classes, their treatment, and the rule of the throne all work together, and under Queen Elizabeth s rule, they all changed for the better. There were five social classes during the sixteenth century, some with corresponding sub classes. These classes were kept separate by the rules of Parliament that didn t allow the lower classes to have as many things as the upper classes.
