Philosophy Of Life Essay
Writing an essay on the philosophy of life can be a challenging and introspective task. The topic
itself delves into profound and abstract concepts, requiring a deep exploration of one's personal
beliefs, values, and perspectives. Philosophical reflections on life often demand a careful
examination of existential questions, moral dilemmas, and the complexities of human existence.
Crafting such an essay involves navigating through a myriad of philosophical schools of thought,
ranging from existentialism to stoicism, and grappling with the profound ideas of renowned
philosophers. This demands not only a solid understanding of various philosophical concepts but
also the ability to critically analyze and synthesize them in a coherent manner.
Moreover, articulating one's own philosophy of life can be an intimate and challenging process.
It requires self-reflection, honesty, and the courage to confront one's own beliefs. The writer
must carefully choose words to express abstract ideas, ensuring that the essay is not only
intellectually stimulating but also emotionally resonant.
Furthermore, the difficulty lies not only in presenting a personal philosophy but also in
connecting it to broader philosophical discourse. The essay should demonstrate an awareness of
the historical and cultural context of philosophical ideas, offering a nuanced perspective that
goes beyond mere personal reflections.
In essence, writing a philosophy of life essay demands a combination of intellectual rigor, self-
exploration, and the ability to communicate complex ideas with clarity. It is a journey into the
depths of one's thoughts, requiring the writer to navigate the intricate web of philosophical
concepts while staying true to their own unique perspective.
For those who find themselves grappling with the complexity of such a task, assistance is
available. Similar essays and a wide range of academic writing services can be accessed on
platforms like HelpWriting.net. Professionals in the field can provide guidance, support, and
expertise to help individuals navigate the challenges of expressing their philosophical musings in
a structured and compelling essay.

Move It Football Head Analysis
Move it Football Head! Hey Arnold! was one of my favorite Nickelodeon shows.
Helga was secretly obsessed and hopelessly in love with Arnold. But, she flirted
how I did when I was younger. Hey, let s be super mean to him because he s super
cute! . Anyways, Helga would call him football head in the show s entrance.

Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen who were America s little sweethearts. Yup, it was pre

Coronary Collateral Circulation And Humans Are Often
More...
Studies looking at coronary collateral circulation in humans are typically more
controversial. Skeptics have stated that collateral development is probably due to
the progression of coronary artery disease rather than an effect of exercise training.
In addition, direct measurement of collateral growth, typically through coronary
angiographic techniques, is difficult and may have severe limitations due to low
levels of resolution of vessels (Heaps et al., 2011). Small vessels involved in the
coronary collateral system ( 100Ојm) are incredibly difficult to view
angiographically, so the full magnitude of collateralization may not be assessed or
may be drastically underestimated (Heaps et al., 2011; Belardinelli et al., 1998).
An additional approach that studies have used to measure collateral circulation
development is to measure the rate pressure product in patients with coronary artery
disease (CAD). Increases in rate pressure product at the beginning of myocardial
ischemia have been found and is potentially related to increased myocardial
oxygen supply from collateral growth stimulation (Senti et al., 1998). After
exercise training, coronary patients have also seen a 29% increase in coronary
flow reserve in response to adenosine (Hambrecht et al., 1993). Patients with
chronic CAD and impaired LV systolic function who exercised at 60% of peak
oxygen uptake 3 times a week for 8 weeks saw a significant increase in mean
collateral circulation score and improvements in wall
Summary Of A Passage To India And A Passage To India
Despite having drastically different perspectives, E.M. Forster and Mulk Raj Anand
display a common disdain for British imperialism and racism while sharing in a
struggle to fully capture the complexities of the British Raj while still spreading their
intended message in their novels, A Passage to India and Untouchable.
Untouchable and A Passage to Indiawere not written solely for entertainment. The
authors shared purpose for writing the stories is more important than the stories
themselves. Forster was largely involved in the politics of imperialism, having
worked with the International Red Cross in Alexandria for four years and written
a pamphlet that condemned the colonization of Egypt by Britain (Meyers 238).
Later in life he would write only essays, criticisms, biographies, and broadcasts
with the intention of sharing his liberal views (Parry 253). He was clearly
motivated intensely by his political views. When referring to his novel, Forster
said, The political side of it was an aspect I wanted to express... It had some
political influence it caused people to think of the link between India and Britain
and to doubt if that link was altogether of a healthy nature (Meyers 238). Anand
was just as passionate in his desire to share his political opinions. In the words of
R.K. Dhawan, Untouchable has no story interest; it is just an impassioned plea for
social cause (102). In writing Untouchable, Anand s goal to shine light upon the
trials of the Indian far surpasses the significance enjoying the plot on its own. Each
story is carefully crafted to influence the reader s opinion on imperialism, and efforts
to amuse the reader can be traced back to the authors desire to share their political
viewpoints. These shared convictions come from writers who viewed the British Raj
from opposite sides, Anand as an Indian, and Forster as a British man. Anand was
a resident of Punjab, a hub for Indian rebellion, and a massacre where hundreds of
Indains were killed took place in his hometown (Harrex 36). He experienced the
trauma of the Indian people personally. For him, colonialism is something he has
endured. He was also arrested and beaten brutally by the police, having been left with
dark marks on his back

Revenge in Hamlet and The Revenger s Tragedy Essay
In this study of revenge and revengers in two Elizabethan revenge tragedies the two
plays I shall look at are Hamlet, by William Shakespeare, and The Revenger s
Tragedy, by Thomas Middleton. I shall look first at the playwrights handling of the
characters of the revengers, and then at the treatment of the revengers by other
charactersin the plays.
Although having similarities in their underlying themes, and in their adherence to
conventions, these two plays present contrasting pictures of the figure of the
revenger; Hamlet offering a far more complex treatment of its main character, and
The Revenger s Tragedy appearing, in comparison, limited by the author s social
message, and lacking in realistic characterisation.
Hamlet and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Both revengers respond to, rather than initiate events, but Hamlet is much more an
instrument of others than Vindice, who is full of zest. Both characters carry a
burden of guilt. Hamlet s Oedipus complex, (Freud having informed us of the
revenger s unconscious motives), is heavily aggravated by the absence of his
father and excessive closeness of his mother, and this accounts for the refocusing
of his patricidal wish onto Claudius, and shows how his need for revenge is
internal, not purely a need to resolve dissatisfaction with the affairs of the world , as
is Vindice s. Hamlet s needs are deep and complex, while for Vindice:
The smallest advantage fattens wronged men. [1.2.98]
Hamlet s internalisations arise because he has identified his ego with his father the
lost object and is therefore suffering from a loss of ego. His inward suffering is
further intensified by his conflicts with Ophelia and Gertrude, leading him to suicidal
thoughts:
O that this too too sullied flesh would melt,
Thaw, and resolve itself into a dew!
Or that the Everlasting had not flx d
His canon gainst self slaughter! [1.2.129 132]
Hamlet is searching deep into his soul for explanations and resolutions, while Vindice
simply waits for that bald Madam Opportunity . [1.1.55]
Hamlet s delaying, compared to Vindice s incessant activity, shows that the two
revengers are in a way opposite in their approaches to the
Obscenity In The Workplace
Using an obscenity in any sense shows a lot about a person s character. I feel in
any situation if a person is deciding to let those words slip from their lips they lose
their right to decide if anyone knows about it. The three given examples involve
three different types of people, two public and one private. All muttered the word
asshole. I feel no matter their title the word should stay in the quote. It is ultimately
up to the journalist s discretion if the quote is necessary to use, but if it is, the
obscenities should be left in. When the private figure, Deborah Woodell, used the
word to express how angry she was, a reader can feel the emotions in her tone. The
same thing goes for both George Bush and Larry Brown. Though Bush was unaware

If they felt it showed exactly how the person was feeling, it is okay to keep the
obscenity in the quote. However, if the word does nothing for the quote and story
and the person just has a potty mouth, it is unacceptable and needs to be removed.
If the word shows emotion, it is okay to keep in my book. If for some reason I
were going to decide to make a list of rules when dealing with situations like this I
would decide that stronger curse words be covered up by number signs (#). Words
like asshole seem to be on the weaker end of the curse word spectrum so that word
could be spelled out. Other words would be dashed out such as the word bitch.
Again, the word would only appear in the quote if the journalist felt it added to the
story. If it were to appear the word would look like this, B##ch.You can still see
what the word was supposed to be, but it doesn t jump out of the page as much
because it is spelled wrong. Overall, I think that curse words show emotion. I don t
think it is the right way to show how you feel, but when they are used in a situation
it shows the character of the person saying them. The public has the right to know
the true self of anyone being quoted in a news paper. Advice for people knowing they
are in a public place or being interviewed, just don t curse. If you are going to, do it in
your home, in

The Pros And Cons Of Long Distance Relationship
Long Distance Relationship Is Not a Good Choice Long distance relationship usually
happen for those who has met their partner but cannot meet directly because of the
big distance. Generally, these long distance relationship are due to social,
environmental and economic factors such as participation in military activities,
studying abroad, increased opportunities to work overseas and the emergence of
online relationship. A majority of college student are or have been in long distance
romance (Wood, 2015). Those who are in this kind of relationship must have a strong
heart to make it work. Unfortunately many people cannot make this type of
relationship become successful because of their own attitude. Easy to say, it is not a
good choice to have this kind of relationship when you have another alternatives of
bonding a relationship. You are wasting the timethat you could be used to date other
people. You are just wasting your time to dream about someone far away and
wishing they were there close to you. Things would be better to just date and fall in

How to find out either someone is really serious without seeing his eyes and
without touching him? How to learn about the meaning of strength and sacrifice if
there are the risk to be cheated one day sooner? How to grow as an independent
person when there is nobody near you can help you in trouble? For example, if you

Modern Day Heroes Essay
Modern day heroes can be very important. These heroes importance on americans is
that they help us, the people in many different ways like physically and mentally
/ vocally. These heroes empower common people to do better. these heroes
importance to the world is greatest, they help us to be better (and make the world
better) and learn from them. So with these three thing Modern day Heroes better our
world and we would be nothing without them.
To explain my point, The importance of modern day heroes on Americans are they
help us. In passage 1 there s a modern day hero named Betty Ford, Betty was the first
lady and she had breast cancer. Betty opened up about her cancer and told lady s to
be safe and check to to see if they are ok. Betty Ford in a way helped the people
physically by making them go to the doctor, this could have saved people they
could have caught the cancer before it was too late. According to Betty Ford: A
New Kind of First Lady Checkups increased by 300 to 400 percent . I put this
quote to show how Betty Ford is so inspiring she had womans wanted to be sure
they were alright and there s a good chance some of those people in that percent
might have had breast cancer, so Betty Ford might have just saved there life.
Modern day heroes affect Americans mentally/ vocally by speaking up and taking a
stand. In passage 2 the author spoke up about violence by involving modern day
heroes. Jonah Goldberg (THE AUTHOR) stood up for this one girl named Laura
who got in

Is Macbeth Responsible For His Own Downfall
The quote, No man is an island, by John Donne portrays the fact that human
behaviors are often influenced by others. In the play Macbeth, by William
Shakespeare, Macbeth shows the harsh consequences of crossing the line between
ambition and greed, which proves that he led himself to his own grave. He also
shows how the people around him, led him to his own downfall. Macbeth, the leading
character in the story suffers the consequences after he lets greed take him over. In
the play, Macbeth is a brave honoured Scottish soldier who is presented a prophecy
by three witches. He is told that he will become the Thane of Cawdor. The
information he receives startles his mind but with the pursuit of his wife, Lady
Macbeth, Macbeth becomes ambitious to become a King. Lady Macbeth pulls the
trigger when she calls Macbeth a coward , and questions his manhood, which only
drives him to be more ambitious to kill the King. Macbeth lets his... Show more

The witches play a key role in the play by setting the theme. They tell Macbeth the

saying and perform the evil deeds, that he later on does. He is responsible for his
own downfall, because in the end, it was his decision to question himself, Am I
doing the right thing? . If he had questioned his thoughts after his encounter with the
witches, he would have had a much different outcome because he would have asked
himself Am I doing the right thing by trusting these strangers. He allows himself to
be manipulated by his wife, but in that moment if he had asked himself Am I doing
the right thing by allowing my wife to persuade me to my own grave , he definitely
would have had a different outcome. In conclusion, Macbeth is responsible for his
own downfall with the influence of the witches and Lady
The Chimney Sweeper by William Blake
William Blake s poem, The Chimney Sweeper is a poem about children losing their
innocence and being forced to clean chimneys. The setting is in the industrial period
when children in orphanages being sent to work at such a young age. The young
boys were usually the ones to be put to work because they were small enough to get
into the chimneysand clean them. Children in this era eventually were diagnosed with
Black LungDisease because they inhaled too much soot in their lungs. The poem
opens with a child in the industrial period describing how his mother had died when
he was very young, showing the readers that he started sweeping chimneys and
being forced into labor at a young age. In the quote, And my father sold me while
yet my tongue letting readers know that he was sold before he could even speak.
In the third line he states that actually it was before he could even really cry
because he, could scarcely cry weep weep weep weep the reader can also pick up
on the fact that weep and sweep rhyme giving subtle hints. There was a big class
distinction back in the industrial period since the poor children are sweeping the
higher class people s chimneys. The distinction is shown when the poem says, So
your chimneys I sweep in soot I sleep . The words your and I really show the class
distinction. It emphasizes the words so that we know that the children have to do the
upper class people s dirty work. In the second stanza, the writer opens up about how

The Benefits Of College Basketball
Basketball is one of the most popular sports in America, and it is also very popular
overseas. It is so popular because it is fast paced, suspenseful, and very entertaining
to watch. It is played on many different levels including high school, collegiate and
professional. All three of these levels are fun to watch, but some levels are more fun
to watch than others. The most entertaining level to watch is the collegiate level
because it has very talented athletes that play with heart and it has an amazing
atmosphere. The biggest reason why collegebasketballis the most entertaining to
watch is because of the game s atmosphere. When there is not a lot to do on a

There are a lot of big egos in the NBA, and the coaches and management do not do
too much about them as long as they re winning games. When players have big
egos in college, the coaches either sit them or just completely get rid of them. The
coaches do not want to deal with that, and they are the ones in control at the
collegiate level. The players have most of the control in the NBA. It s not very
often that an NBA coach will be in a superstars face screaming at him for doing
something wrong. If the player has a problem with something about the team they
can choose to go to another team and still get paid. The fact that the players have
most of the power in the NBA leads to a lack of loyalty between the players and the
organizations. A lot of players jump from team to team in order to make more
money, or move to a better team. In college, once a player commits they most often
stays with that school. There are some transfers here and there, but as a whole it
does not happen very often. It is nice to see a player that stays loyal to his team.
When it comes to the plays that are run during the game, the college level ones are
more interesting. There are a lot more offensive sets shown by a college offense than
an NBA offense. Seeing all of these different plays that include multiple passes,
screens, and backdoor cuts is more interesting to watch than an NBA

Falling Water Farnsworth House Analysis
Initially, Farnsworth House may seem, by all accounts, to be drained of color. In
any case, this is a planned impact, as Mies demanded Nature, as well, should carry
on with its own life. We should be careful not to upset it with the shade of our homes
and inside fittings. However, we ought to endeavor to bring nature, houses, and
individuals together into a higher solidarity. In the event that you see nature through
the glass dividers of the Farnsworth House, it picks up a more significant centrality
than if saw from outside. That way more is said in regards to nature it turns into a
part of a bigger whole. The white of the house differentiates the encompassing green

The Iranian Language Essay
Today the Iranian languages are spoken from Central Turkey, Syria and Iraq in the
west to Pakistan and the western edge of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region of
China in the east. In the North, its outposts are Ossetic in the central Caucasus and
Yaghnobi and Tajik Persian in Tajikistan in Central Asia, while in the South they are
bounded by the Persian Gulf, except for the Kumzari enclave on the Masandam
peninsula in Oman.
Historically, the New Iranian stage overlaps with the Islamization of Iranian speaking

BCE. The oldest stages go back to the beginning of the second millennium BCE. The

The later Iranians moved into and across the Iranian plateau, both carrying the new
social structure with their languages, with a lasting impact on the socio political
structures of Iran and Afghanistan, and the subcontinent.
The Iranians on their part can probably be correlated with the subsequent so called
Yaz I culture in the BMAC complex, which reflects major cultural changes towards a
more rural society after 1 500 BCE. They apparently remained in Central Asia, and
only by the end of the second millennium BCE began to spread over the Iranian
plateau. By the second half of the eighth century BCE, Iranian Median and Persian
tribes (Mada and Parswa) had already been long established among the original non
Iranian speakers of the Zagros mountain ranges of Iranian Kurdestan, according to
the records of the Assyrian ruler Shalmaneser III (r. 858 824 BCE). Minorsky
(1957: 78) recognized that the name of the tiny village Qal a Paswe near Solduz in
Kurdestan retains the memory of the Iranian settlements (cf. also Zadok 200 1;
2002). The successors of the Parswa tribes who settled in the southwest of the Iranian
plateau created the Achaemenid Empire (ca. 558 330 BCE) which, beginning with
the Sasanian period (224 6 5 1 CE) and thereafter, ultimately resulted in the
dominance of Persian over the Iranian expanse.
While the Iranian plateau was increasingly Iranianized, the Iranian tribes known as

Comparison Of Macbeth And Lady Macbeth
Contrast Comparison of Macbeth and Lady Macbeth
While analyzing the two main characters in Shakespeare s tragic play Macbeth,
critics have often argued about their true nature and inner coherence. Despite the
effort made, very rarely are the characters presented as their true self, without the
inclusion of psychoanalytical theories and other studies. Consequently, this essay s
primary goal is to analyze and discuss the main characteristics of the Macbeth couple
and how they relate with each other by using nothing but a careful reading of the
thoughts and actions of each of the characters and no external influence or studies
whatsoever.
The first thing that the Macbeth couple share is the malicious influence exerted on
them by the Weird Sisters. On the one hand, Macbeth is directly faced with the

Medical Ethics And Ethics Regarding Medical Marijuana
RESEARCH PAPER
Medical Ethics Ethics Regarding Medical Marijuana by Sowmya Kondapuram
Medical ethics is a system of morals and values that apply judgments to the practice
of medicine.
Medical ethics mainly deals with behavior of physician and the decisions they have to
make rather than how to treat patients. Physicians face these kind of questions and
dilemmas often. Simply put ethics in medicine is about making decisions that are
moral and just. Medicine is both science and an art, where science implies physicians
to recognize signs of illness, treat or cure the patients and art involves making right
decisions in ethical situations.
Medical Ethics:
All doctors take a certain oath or pledge before taking up on their career. They take
up the following oaths
п‚· Pledge to consecrate their life to service of humans.
п‚· Will respect their patients.
п‚· Practice their profession with conscience and dignity.
п‚· Health of patient would be their primary importance.
п‚· Main autonomy by protecting the secrets of the patients.
п‚· Not permit age, race, social status, disease, nationality or any other factor to falter
their decisions.
п‚· Respect for human life.
п‚· Will behave professionally at all times.
Non Rational Approaches to Ethical Issues:
п‚· Obedience, a common way of making ethical decisions. Generally agreeing to the
patients consents, following the rules fall under this approach.
п‚· Imitation, following up a superior and taking decisions based on these role
models. Making Ethical
Banning Tobacco Companies From Advertising Their
Products...
On February 6, 2001 Government of India released shock news on the tobacco
Industry when it announced that it would soon table a bill banning Tobacco
Companies from advertising their products and sponsoring sports and cultural events.
The reason for doing this is to discourage the company s adolescents from
overwhelming tobaccoproducts and also arm the Government with powers to launch
an anti Tobacco Program. According to Suhel Seth, CEO, Equus Advertisingsaid, The
ban does not have teeth. It is a typical knee jerk reaction by any Government to
create some kind of popularity for itself. The tobacco industrywas a major contributor
to the State Exchequer. The people who didn t agree with the ban challenged that
by putting a ban on advertisements and sponsorships by tobacco companies, the
state was effectively stepping in to tell smokers that they were incompetent of
deciding by themselves what was good or bad for their health and that, therefore it
had to play the role of a responsible nanny. According to Amit Sarkar, Editor,
Tobacco News Adults who consume tobacco do so of their own free choice. The
risk falls entirely on them and is fully explained to them. People believe that then if
they lose sight of the truth on which all the free societies depend, namely that
freedom and risks are inextricable. They also believe that if you can buy and sell
tobacco you should be able to advertise for it also. A survey conducted by the Indian

The First World War On African People By Tim Stapleton
At the same point in time of the novel, political unrest was in action. Author Tim
Stapleton writes in his article The Impact of the First World War on African People
that During the First World War the westernized African elite, a product of European
missionary schools, was still in its infancy. It represented a tiny minority who had
achieved success within the western educational system, mastered the colonial
language, converted to Christianity, and usually occupied junior positions within the
colonial hierarchy such as clerks, teachers, or clergymen (Par.28). This type of
change in society is pretty accurately depicted in the novel. One of Nnu Egos son s
choses to go to a university in the United States after he becomes educated and this
was something that would have never happened before British influence came about.
The way that Nnu Ego has to send her two eldest sons to go to school represents the
impact that the western colonization had on the African culture. This influence also,
causes her and her familymoved into a small apartment verses the typical huts made
of mud and leaves. In relation, the British saw the domestic slaves as illegal.
Nwokocha Agbadi knows how important slaves are to his village household, but he
also wishes to please the British. Emecheta writes that eventually, he stop[s] dealing
in slaves and offer [s] freedom to the ones in his household. He even join [s] a group
of leaders who encouraged slaves to return to their places of origin....
Curley s Wife And Crooks Body
Lennie, being the man that he is, attracts Curley to a fight. Lennie keeps saying no,
but Curley won t listen, and he just keeps punching and punching. Finally, Lennie
decides to do something and breaks his hand. Talking to George now, he is
disappointed in himself. Since George was watching this whole thing, he knows that
Lennie didn t do anything wrong, but that doesn t occur to Lennie. He still wants
confirmation from George that he is still in the clear. From the question that Lennie
asks about the rabbits, it can be inferred that he is a nice guy. Everything he does is
so that he can one day tend the rabbits. He is truly trying to pursue his goal of that
small house with many rabbits. Since Curley attacked him, there was nothing that...

Once George finds him first, he decides it would be best if Lennie died, and so he
shoots him in the back of the head where he will feel no pain. George and Lennie
being the best of friends, it is surprising George decides to kill his mate. In a way, it
makes sense. If the others were to catch Lennie first, then Curley would have most
likely tortured or killed Lennie in a very painful way. During all this, George
would have to watch without being able to do anything. Lennie made the mistake,
and he will have to pay for it no matter what. The best way to quickly end it is to
kill him painlessly when he is happy. This stops their goal of living together in a
small house. George will either have to complete that dream himself or choose
another companion. Either way, it is a loss for George and for Lennie. In a way,
this may be the best for George. Now he doesn t have to deal with a person who is
constantly messing up and is hard to deal with. This act of deciding to kill Lennie
is an epiphany. This is because, before this, George and Lennie were really close,
but after, George had to go through the process of deciding to kill Lennie. The
moment when George realizes that the best situation for his friend is for George to
kill him is harsh. George did the best for Lennie, and that is what
Essay about Swannanoa Palace
Swannanoa Palace is a beautiful mansion that rests atop Afton Mountain in Nelson
County Virginia. It was built over an eight year time period by James Dooley as a
token of love for his wife, Sallie Dooley. The name was given to their home in
honor of Sallie s love for swans and how they choose one mate for life. Construction
of this palace was completed in 1912 with the effort of 300 artisans and two
contractors. The couple also had another home in Richmond, Virginia. This home was
formally known as Maymont . The name was derived from Sallie s maiden name
May, and the french word for hill Mont. This home was extraordinary for it s time. It
was a 12,000 square foot home that was divided into 33 rooms. The Dooley s were

It also consisted of a library, this was exceptional in it s own, not to mention the the
Latin quotations in the woodwork. The walls in the Louis XV style ballroom were
covered with golden fabric, it also contains a mantle with angels carved into it s
marble surface. Swannanoa was made up of 52 rooms, including the ones
mentioned above. The exterior of this palace was just as incredible as the inside.
In Rome, there is a building called the Villa Medici, from this, the contractors and
artisans created the appearance of Swannanoa. The Dooley s built their palace on
126 acres of land just above the Rockfish Gap. This home is truly astonishing,
inside and out. The history of Swannanoa is just as engaging as the palace itself.
The history of it being built is something very significant in it s history. The
construction of this palace in 1912 was marked at $2 million dollars. However,
building a house of those means today would be priced at over $20 million dollars.
Swannanoa was built over a time period of eight years. Two contractors were hired
from Waynesboro, Va Mr. Ellis and Virgil Moyer. This palace has had many
purposes throughout it s 97 years of existence. It was originally built by James
Dooley as a Summer home and a token of love for his wife. After James and Sallie
passed away, Swannanoa was sold and turned into Swannanoa Country Club, which
was abandoned when the stock market crashed. In 1948, Walter and
The Report Is Divided In Two Parts. The First Part Is (A)
The report is divided in two parts. The first part is (a) about analysing the value of
Balfour
Group by using the shareholder value analysis model (SVA) for last two years and
show
critical evaluation about how this model is appropriate to value the company in
numerical
terms. Also, the report provides critical discussion for those variables which
influences the
valuation of company by using sensitivity analysis. In addition, it will compare the
actual
value of Balfour with SVA model estimated value and explain the reasons of
differences.
The second part of report is (b) to identify and evaluate critical issue facing the
company in
the last years using the appropriate finance theories.
Justification of using SVA model

and difficult to predict as well as true comparable companies and market value might

is:
Discount Cash Flow (DCF) which is used for cash generating businesses according to
the

because it needs accurate price of asset based on it is life, cash flow, and discount rate

appropriate for potential investors.
Shareholder value analysis (SVA) model was developed by Alfred Rappaport in

one of shareholder tools which is used to illustrate the relationship between principals

Crew Resource Management Has Come a Long Way but
Still Has...
In several studies of aviation mishaps, human error has been cited as the primary
cause of the majority of these mishaps. The main problems of these human errors
were failures in interpersonal communication, leadership, and decision making in the
flight deck (or cockpit). With this in mind and the need to improve on air safety,
Crew Resource Managementwas developed. We will define CRM and then continue
further to define subsequent automations and questionnaires that have developed
through CRM. We will discuss the importance of CRM, automations, and
questionnaires and the research findings.
Crew Resource Management
Crew Resource Management (CRM) has come a long way. The roots of CRM can be
traced back to a workshop, Resource ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It not only included characteristics in aviation in which the crew must function in, but
it also included multiple input factors such as organizational culture. Several airlines
also included training modules addressing CRM issues in flightdeck automation. And
CRM also started to expand to other within the airline industry (i.e. flight attendants,
dispatchers, and maintenance personnel). (Helmreich, Merritt, Wilheim, 1999)
The fourth generation CRM would seem to eliminate the problem of human error by
making it an integral part of all flight training. It would also appear that the goal of
making explicit CRM training go away is starting to be realized. (Helmreich, Merritt,
Wilheim, 1999)
In the fifth generation CRM, the goal is for normalization of error and the
development of strategies for managing error. If error is inevitable, then CRM can be
seen as a set or error countermeasures. (Helmreich, Merritt, Wilheim, 1999)
Through these generations, Crew Resource Management has become known to
many as just a three letter acronym. From when CRM was first developed by
NASA, it has lost much of its meaning. We can define CRM as a safeguard for the
limits of human performance (Merritt Helmreich, 1996). CRM can be further defined
as a management system that makes the best possible use of all its available
resources (i.e. people and equipment) to promote safety and improve the effectiveness
Elie Wiesel Reflection
Elie Wiesel details his experiences being deported to different concentrations camps
in the book Night. He lived in Sighet, Transylvania and at the age of 15 he and his
family were sent first to two different ghettos and then to the camps. His story is
breathtaking and can really teach someone important lessons. In Wiesel s memoir
one idea that is presented is that when one questions his faith in God, he begins to
lose hope in life. Scary experiences can change a person in lots of ways. SS officers
ordered everyone from the ghetto including Elie, his mom dad three sisters into
cattle cars 80 per car. Mrs. Schachter in the dead of night screamed at the top of her
lungs Look at the fire! Look at the flames! Flames Everywhere... (26). People
looked in every direction and saw nothing. After Mrs.Schachter screamed about fire
a couple times, young men bound and gagged her. They started to strike her and
people shouted their approval. Elie still had faith in God but that was before he got
off the train and witnessed the fires Mrs.Schachter was talking about. In Auschwitz
Elie witnessed kids being thrown into the fires and families being burned alive.
Never shall I forget those moments that murdered my God and my soul that turned
my dreams to ashes (34). When Elie thought he was going to walk into the fire
himself this was the first real time he questioned his faith in god and humanity. This
moment he began to question and lose hope, which is a bad thing if you are in a
The Definition Of Interfaith Marriage As A System Of...
According to the Merriam Webster dictionary (2004), the prefix inter means between,
among, together or involving two or more. It also says that the word faith means
strong belief or trust in someone or something , belief in the existence of God , or a
system of religious beliefs. In the instance of the term interfaith , we can put the two
definitions together and say that interfaith is involving two or more systems of
religious beliefs, or an existence of God. The dictionary defines marriage as the
relationship that exists between a husband and wife. So, putting the words interfaith
and marriage together would ultimately mean that the man and wife have two
different religious belief systems. Turner and West s (2006) book, Perspectives on
Family Communication, defines interfaith marriage as unions that include at least
two different religious identities. That is the definition of interfaith marriage in its
simplest form, but an interfaith marriage is far more complex than just its meaning.
To me, and also many others across the globe, interfaith marriage is a relationship that
needs special commitment and attention, and now, I will attempt to show you why.
Religionhas always been known for impacting marriage quality and satisfaction (see,
for example, Hood et. al.,1996), who also explain that a major reason for shifting
from one religious body to another occurs when people of different faiths marry.
Knowing that marriage is often the reason that
Case Study Of Air Southwest Airlines

incorporated. The year of 1971 was a game changer as Lamar Muse joined Air
Southwest as President and Air Southwest changed its name to Southwest Co. The
mission and vision of Air Southwest during this time was to eliminate unnecessary
services and to utilize secondary airports in order to offer the lowest fares in the
industry. Fast forward to 2016 and Herb has stepped down as the chairman for
Southwest, the mission however is still the same, dedication to provide the highest
level of customer while delivering a sense of warmth, friendliness, individual pride,

culture. Expanding Southwest Airlines to accommodate AirTran means discussing the
strengths, weakness, opportunities, and threats regarding the expansion of such a

address the expansion level impact and minimize error.
SWOT Analysis
A SWOT analysis is a calculated planning technique that allows a business the ability
to understand what it s doing right and how to make things better in order to move
forward successfully. Based on this technique the SWOT analysis embodies making
stronger objectives and decisions in which to achieve. Strengths and weaknesses are
internal factors and are things that can be controlled. Opportunities and threats are
external factors that cannot be controlled. The key assessment of the SWOT analysis
for Southwest and AirTran are:
Summary Of Symphony For The City Of The Dead
Author M.T. Anderson effectively captures the sentiment lived by the Russians in his
book Symphony for the City of the Dead when he tells the story of a young man,
Dmitri Shostakovich, who survived Joseph Stalin s deadly regime and Adolf Hitler s
attack on his native city of Leningrad. Throughout the story, Stalin finds new ways to
subjugate his people by eliminating anyone who contradicted his ideals. Then, the
story takes a sinister path when the Germans attack on Russiaduring World War II
becomes inevitable.
The story begins when a Soviet agent gives an American agent a wooden box which
contained a microfilm with Shostakovich s seventh symphony inscribed in it. This
box was taken across the desserts of the Middle East and North Africa to Cairo, then
flown to Brazil, and from there to the United States (p. 2). The symphony would be
played across the country and it would encourage Americans to aid the Soviets in
their attempt to defeat the Nazis.
Afterwards, Anderson goes back in time and reveals how the life of a genius,
Shostakovich, was affected by a series of war conflicts including a revolution and
World War I. Then, in October 1917, he also witnessed the birth of a Communist
Russia after Vladimir Lenin and the Bolsheviks seized power. For a brief period,
this new government supported and encouraged artists to develop their talents. The
city became a place where new art, new music, and new drama had to be found for a
new world where workers ruled (p. 37).
Oklahoma Heart Disease
Heart disease is known widely all over the world. It is the number one cause of
death in the United States, especially in the state of Oklahoma. Even though
America is counted as one of the most developed countries in the world, it is still
facing an issue of finding a cure for these deadly diseases. However there can be
solutions that can be implemented and used. Including raising taxes on unhealthy
food and building sidewalks and tracks. In Oklahoma, the top causes of death are
heartdiseases and strokes (Heart Diseaseand Strokes). It is Oklahoma s leading killer
for both men and women, resulting in more than 9,000 deaths in 2012

Exercising helps eliminate all the extra fat and waste that surrounds the heart. Also
quitting smoking avails the whole body, especially the heart. Smoking cigarettes
causes about 1 in every 5 deaths in the United States each year. (National Institutes
of Health). Tobacco has many chemicals that harm the organs in the body. It also
damages the blood vessels, which increases the risk of atherosclerosis (Smoking
Cardiovascular Disease (Heart Disease)). The carbon dioxide that is coming from
the cigarette binds to the hemoglobin, a substance that is found in red blood cells,
preventing the blood from carrying a full load of oxygen that is needed to sustain
the body. Making it harder to breath and stressing the heart. Smoking also damages
the heart vessels, which affects how well the blood flows around the body making
the heart work more. For some people, such as women who use birth control pills
and people who have diabetes, smoking poses an even greater risk to the heart and
blood vessels. Cigarettes have nicotine in them which produce adrenaline, therefore
causing the heart to work harder and gaining a high blood pressure and rate
Celebrating Independence Day
Independence Day, since the first signing of the Declaration of Independence, has
been a nationwide victorious day filled with cheer in celebration of the United States
gaining freedom from the British Crown. But the effects of the Declaration of
Independence did not at all do what it was expected of for almost three centuries.
During this time, there were a lot of famous people who stood up and fought against
slavery, and Frederick Douglass was one of the most well known abolitionists.
Frederick Douglass was born as a slave in Maryland in 1895. He was also a
journalist, orator, and social reformer, but most of all, he is famous for his
leadership as an abolitionist. Spending his young ages as a slave, he was the victim
of and witness of cruelty at the hands of his owners, therefore he had strong hatred
toward slavery in the United States. After escaping from slavery to be a free man in
1838, he published several autobiographies and became an outspoken advocate for
the abolitionist movement. One of the most recognized speeches of Frederick
Douglass What to the Slave is the Fourth of July? was held on the nation s 76th
anniversary. By revealing unfairness and injustice of racism throughout this speech,
Douglass, with his angry but passionate and vigorous voice, not only got the
audience s sympathy but also succeeded in convincing them that all men are created
equal , no matter what color of their skin. The first part of his speech praises what the

Development of Control and Confidentiality for Database...
Early research efforts in the area of access control and confidentiality for DBMSs
focused on the development of two different classes of models, based on the
unrestricted access control policy and on the mandatory access control policy. This
early research was transmitting in the framework of relational databasesystems. The
relational data model, being a declarative and high level model for specifying the
logical structure of data, made the development of simple declarative languages for
specifying access controlpolicies. These earlier models and the unrestricted models in
particular, introduced some important principles that set apart access control models
for database systems from access control models adopted by operating systems...

Also, the initial format of familiar commands for grant and revoke of authorizations
that are today part of the SQL standard. Next research proposals have extended this
basic model with a variety of features, such as negative authorization, role based and
task based authorization temporal authorization, and context aware authorization.
This weakness makes unrestricted access controls vulnerable to malicious attacks,
such as Trojan horses embedded in application programs. A Trojan horse is a program
with an apparent or actually very useful function, which contains some hidden
functions exploiting the genuine authorizations of the invoking process.
Sophisticated Trojan horses may leak information by means of covert channels,
enabling unauthorized access to data. A covert channel is a component or feature of
the system that is misused to encode or represent information for illegal transmission,
without breaching the stated access control policy. A large variety of components or
features can be misused to create covert channels, including the system clock,
operating system inter process communication primitives, error messages, the
existence of specific file names, the concurrency control mechanism, and so on. The
area of compulsory access control and multilevel database systems tried to address
such problems through the development of access control models based on
information classification, some of which were also incorporated in commercial
products. Early compulsory
Gulliver s Travels Rhetorical Analysis Essay
Swift in this section of the story in a way gives up on humankind, he has no respect
for them and explains humans as brutal and irrational. Swift tells the story through
Gulliver s eyes and uses satire, irony, and critiques human nature on many levels. He
is unable to fit in with either species since one is irrational and erratic and the other is
overly rational and gullible. Human nature has somewhat both of these characteristics
with using violence and intelligent techniques to improve life and society.
Swift begins his story with Gulliver being overran by his shipmates and left on an
unknown island. On this island he comes across these outrageous creatures that have

He uses these techniques to prove the absurd nature of his characters in the story.
A lot of authors have criticized Swift s story of Gulliver s Travels for his use of
irony and satire to make fun of society and human behavior. Kathleen Williams said
It is clear, both from the satires and the religious writings, that Swift was hostile to
all doctrines of the natural self sufficiency of man (pg 275). The writings of Swift
can have most societies question their own behaviors and relate somewhat to the
insane nature of human behavior. Swift makes people question themselves in this
story to who are you are you a yahoo or houyhnhnms, the negative part is that both
are not good.Swift also clearly shows the negative nature in his expression of the
yahoos but it can be unclear, and open for opinion if he writes the houyhnhnms as
positive characters. Mary believes Swift shares Gulliver s love of the houyhnhnms
and his hatred of mankind for its failure to achieve houyhnhnms rationality (pg.
1153). Swift s character Gulliver seems upset that he cannot be one of the
houyhnhnms and they do not accept them into society, they believe he may be a
more modest yahoo but a yahoo all in the same. This is why in the end he still
cannot accept the fact that he is a yahoo and repels his own family to talk to horses.
He can t get out of his head even though the houyhnhnms are not reality that he is not

The Pathophysiology Of Mark s Presenting Compliant
Throughout a person s life milestones, there are expected physical, psychosocial
and cognitive developments in relation to health aspects within certain age groups.
For an instance, a school aged boy would respond to their diagnosis and treatment
very differently to a fully grown man. At the age of 8, a child often experiences a
shift from the pre operational thought when they were pre schoolers to concrete
operational thought. Mark who is 8 years old was undergoes an appendectomy and
been diagnosed with a gangrenous perforated appendix with peritonitis. This essay
will be describing the pathophysiology of Mark s presenting compliant and also
evaluating on the nursing role to deliver developmentally appropriate nursing care
with the focus on Mark s growth and developmental stage, his family centred care and
the effects of hospitalization on mark and his family. Mark s presenting complaint
was associated to the digestive system function failure. All living organisms are able
to grow, develop and reproduce through the consumptions and supplements of
essential nutrients and vitamins that help flourishing their bodies. This is done by the
food ingestion, which is taking in food or drink through the mouth, then these are
passed to the digestive system where food is processed into forms that the body can
easily utilised. Hence, obstruction to this system can cause enormously harm to the
body (Peate Gormley Fleming, 2014). The digestive system consists of many organs,

The Subsequent Solutions will Improve Stryker s Internal Financial Reporting
Improving the tone and language will engage employees
Within our current report, the tone and language are promoting a negative attitude
amongst employees. As seen in the document s introduction, there is a heavy
emphasis on the company s slowed growth. In fact, the idea of growth being slowed
was written repetitively five times. In addition, the language and tone create a
situation for misinterpreting the report. Our finance and accounting staff are
understanding a completely different message from the report compared to our other
employees. This is specifically evident when the report touches on sales growth and
earnings per share.
To implement our solutions, we need to write our introduction in a more positive
tone. Doing so will be more professional and keep the employee morale instead of
emphasizing the negative aspects. According to the Writing Center at UNC Chapel
Hill, writing in a positive tone will influence on our readers perception. Therefore,
this is important to engage our employees and help them better understand our

Essay On Annotated Bibliographies
When first brainstorming what topic I was going to pick for each annotated
bibliography, it took me a while before I settled on a topic for each essay. While
reflecting on my writing process, I came to the conclusion that more time would
have definitely benefited my argument for each of these annotated bibliographies.
If I had more time on each of these essays, I would have looked in more databases to
try and find a wider variety of sources to argue each point. Since I can not search
across all the databases at once, I picked out what looked to be the best database for
each topic. For example, my public argument is on abortion, so I went straight to the
sociology database. My other argument was about blockchain technology, so I went

While doing this, I found out that some of the sources were not what I thought they
were going to be. For example, one of the sources for my public argument seemed
like it was against abortion, but once I got to the end, I found out that the author was
actually for abortion. I had this problem while writing both of my essays, so I had to
go back to the databases to find new sources. I think the most important change I
made during the writing process was changing a few of my sources to ones that
would better validate the arguments in each annotated bibliography. After searching
within the database for a while, I was able to find other articles that gave me a
wider range of information and statistics to choose from. If I would have not taken
the time to go back and find sources that would better fit my argument, I would have
needed to do it later in the writing process of each essay. Because of this, I went back
for both of my annotated bibliographies and replaced some of the sources that I
thought were good at first, but after reading more into them I found that they did not
provide me with the evidence I

During the 1900 s, many technological, militarial, and most importantly, economic
changes radically shaped America into its current modern state. The start of the
twentieth century drastically altered accepted conservative ideals and brought new
changes in people s statuses and attitudes. For example, in the 1920 s, flapper girls
who wore short skirts, sported bobbed hair, and disregarded accepted values of
proper women became the trend for women. Many movements started such as the
naturalist movement which promoted moving away from Victorian values. Theodore
Dreiser, an American novelist and journalist, was also a part of the naturalist
movement. As a result, he was inspired to write the novel Sister Carrie. Sister Carrie

Letting Your Competition Set Your Prices
Pricing your products is actually one of the hardest decisions for a new business
owner to make. Make the prices too high and no one will want to buy. Make the
prices too low and you can t make a profit. Not knowing how to price products
properly is a common challenge for new business owner. And it is one that can make
or break a company.
One business decided to let their competition set their prices. And it had the potential
of driving the company into bankruptcy.
The owner based his products prices on what he thought the market would bear. He
looked at what his competitors were charging and set his prices accordingly. So, if
the competition is charging $100 for a thingamajig, ... Show more content on

Those reports are your scoreboard to knowing whether your business is winning or
losing the game.Just receiving the reports is not enough. You, as a business owner,
need to understand what the data on each report means and how it affects your
operations.
Let s say you re watching a baseball game on TV. You can see the number of runs
each team has up on the scoreboard. That is the basic measure of success or failure
in the game. But it is not the only one. As a new batter approaches home base, the
announcer talks about the player s statistics RBIs, batting average, and number of
stolen bases. Those numbers tell you if the batter is All Star material or about to be
sent back to the minor leagues. The team stats tell you how well they are doing this
season.
After the game ends, you end up watching part of a cricket match, a sport about
which you know absolutely nothing. The scoreboard for the game shows the number
of runs scored and the number of wickets lost. The announcer talks about each player
s innings, not outs, centuries, overs, wides, and strike rate. Yet, there is no
information on the team s performance other than the scores.
Utterly confusing to someone not familiar with the game. Who is winning? Is that
player one of the best or not? Is the team doing well this

Sales Management amp; Practices Assignment 08: 1. I would like to start off my
paper by briefly describing the criteria identified for assessing salespersons
effectiveness, and how the sales managers ally these criteria to the sales performance
evaluations. The three criteria that are used include; outcome based measures,
professional development measures and behavior based measures. The first of these
is outcome based measures and this criterion has a few means as to which one can
measure effectiveness. We can measure this though the sales results by using... Show

The first mentioned one is that of activity quota. These include activities that a
salesperson needs to perform regarding sales and these may include; making calls
or sending e mails to potential clients. This quota is in place to ensure that the
salesperson is making an effort to attract new clientele. The second one that is
mentioned is that of financial quotas. This includes an expense quota this includes
a budgeted amount allocated to the salesperson with making sales in a specific
area, this is used as a cost control measure by sales. It also includes the profit
quotas, which includes in it the gross margin quota, the contribution margin quota
and the net profit quota. This can either be set for a salesperson, a branch or a
group of products. The third mentioned quota is that of combination quotas.
Companies which are not happy with any one of the quota usually combine two or
more of this quotas. This seeks to use the strengths of several types of quotas. The
fourth of the mentioned quotas is that of sales volume quotas. This quota may be
established for a certain area, a product line, a customer or any combination of
these. It is more effective to set a monthly or quarterly quota than an annual one. 3 I
am going to discuss the key features of a 360 degree performance appraisal. Some of

Comparison Of Citizen Kane And The Maltese Falcon
Two of the first film noir pieces, The Maltese Falcon and Citizen Kane, share many
structural and stylistic similarities. Their biggest similarities are use of the plant and
payoff technique, and sending characters on meaningless quests. The Maltese Falcon
opens with a description of a golden falcon statue, given as a gift from the people of
Malta for their independence, lost en route. After these opening statements, the film
jumps to a detective, Sam Spade, tasked with finding someone by Brigid O
Shaunessy, ignoring the falcon completely. Spade is unaware of the falcon until
Brigid s former partner, Joel Cairo, arrives and offers to pay Spade for it, so he
starts searching. Though Spade searches endlessly, the statue s location is a mystery...

The film s main character is led through a series of challenges or traps, mostly
irrelevant, forcing the character to waste time chasing down false leads. The entire
quest is ultimately a joke, because the object sought is never acquired, and the
protagonist has been sent on a wild goose chase. The falcon in Spade s apartment
was discovered to be a fake. Thompson never found rosebud, though the audience
discovers rosebud is Kane s boyhood sled, before it burns to ash. Ultimately, neither
character discovers what he sought, making the endeavor of searching for it
Stereotypes Of Religion Essay
Can you be religious in today s society without being stereotyped? Can you bring
up your beliefs in an everyday conversation without being ridiculed? The answer to
that is simple, no. In today s society, people are strongly opinionated. Certain
individuals believe religion is a filthy word. Should you avoid talking to those types
of people about your religion? Should you change what you believe to appease
others? Religion has a vast definition. When I think of religion, I think of faith. When
I think of faith, I think of our Lord and Savior. Does that mean everyone else in the
world comes to the same conclusion? No, not at all, because we all have different
beliefs. I have been going to church ever since I was a child. My beliefs have

Abstract:
The synthesis of the product: ОІ D glucose pentaacetate is done though the
acetylation using acetic anhydride with D glucose with the help of sodium acetate.
The recrystallization of the product is done though a polar solvent like water. The
Result of this experiment has a percentage yield of 61% and analytical methods that

Social Value And Social Values
Along with teaching family values and integrity, another common life lesson task
of parenting is to teach children how to responsibly manage the money that is
given. With these money management goals, when giving money to a child,
parents must also guide a child toward being selfless; a child should be taught not
to view self as socially above others who may be without. Unfortunately, in the
current century, this viewpoint is generally not the case. Money has become an
ongoing focus for most as wealth turns into a social status. The three divisions of
this century social value are lower, middle, upper class citizens. Depending on how
much the parent s guide their social value, life skills, and money will be the result
of what three classes the individual will be socially be placed into. At the lower end
of the spectrum, the struggling, also viewed socially as the lower class, are the
people feeling strapped in the present and anxious about the future. Parents in the
lower division do not have the wealth to establish their kids a division in society.
Being in this status starts to become a challenge for the parents to be able to secure
the knowledge about finance that their child will need to know. For example, the
lower class parents live pay check to pay check, but cannot teach their child about
saving or how to secure yourself in a social status. This is where your stronger
integrity and family values show vividly in a child because the parents would teach

Hip Injury And Ulnar Collateral Ligament Essay
Introduction
Hip injury and ulnar collateral ligament (UCL) injuries among baseball players has
become a high area in study (Cheatham, S. W., Kumagai Shimamura, K., Kolber, M.
J., 2016). Athletes in the field of baseball may be at high risk for injury due to the
high volume of repetitive motion in throwing and pitching because of comprehensive
training schedules and games in the season. It is commonly believed that the presence
of limited hip mobility, throwing biomechanics are changed and may lead to both hip
and shoulder alteration. With both hip and shoulder mobility affected can result
compromising throwing form in biomechanics and may force the core muscles
(abdominals, shoulders, and upper extremities) to compromising and work even
harder. More importantly, the range of motion (ROM) maybe conceding excessively
which results increasing potential risk of future injuries. The individual s
biomechanics in pitching or throwing must be monitor for muscular endurance,
strength, or power for speed and numbers of repetition when contributing towards
velocity. Studying a player s mechanics especially their genetics of length and size
plays a major role on the changes in their body and correlates the throwing velocity
in fine coordination. Every pitch thrown is one of the most important factors in a
baseball or softball game because the velocity can change the outcome of the game.

The Mutation Of The Horror Genre
Kalmina (Alex) Wu Josh Jackson Media Studies 10 30 September 2014 The Mutation
of the Horror Genre Horror can be defined as a genre meant to psychologically trigger
individual fear with the presence of certain supernatural or abstract characteristics.
The genre is dependent on people s fascination with unrealism and the sensation that
comes from experiencing fear personified into tangible elements on a screen. Horror
films have thrilled audiences for decades, revealing stories of the more sinister parts
of life. The popular allure that stems from the genre comes from the tension
moviegoers experience when aroused by specific stimuli uniquely present in these
cinematic features (Walters). Over time, as the genre progressed, the standardized
elements found in a typical horror movie began to shift in different directions
primarily due to changing societal circumstances and increasing consumer demand
for cinematic innovation. The expansive nature of the different codes and
conventions within the horror genre, coupled with the evolution of society s
fascination with these characteristics, has led to the mutation of the genre itself in
order to allow for unique approaches to a familiar style in response to both economic
developments and taste shifts within the consumer industry. Definitions of horror
tend to emphasize the psychological effect it has on audiences. Specifically, they
highlight the internal terror that arises from encountering threats to existence.

Catullus Tactus Aratro Est
For itself, Catullus has befallen into the victim of Lesbia s neglectful love, exiled
and castrated by Lesbia s affairs with others. In fact, her unsympathetic negligence
destroys Catullus , as he is no longer, if ever was, the object of her attention. But the
coincidence of the end of the poem with the words tactus aratro est (24) brings
together the incidental severance of Catullusloveby Lesbia with the deliberate
discontinuation of the poem. Another type of disjointing occurs with the final elision

they meet with silence. This serves as an artistic approach to rhetoric, where Catullus

Rather, he depicts himself as the noble victim of unrequited love. Like Catullus
states in his Carmen 85, I hate and I love . Essentially, Catullus highlights through
this loved turned bitter view, how he himself is a passive recipient to the torture
Lesbia invokes on him. He has loved Lesbia fully, as we seeing initially in poems 5
and 7. Eventually feeling betrayed by his love, his only recourse is to threaten and
potentially enact revenge and punishment on Lesbia through invective and
mockery in order to disgrace Lesbia for what she had done, specifically to him
broken his heart. In a way, we can see how Catullus has always encompassed an
insecurity in the love he and his lover shared, which further manifested itself into
the way he dealt with the end of their affair. This evident progression of feeling
Catullus experiences towards Lesbia initially begins with love (amo), and ends with
hate (odi) for Lesbia. He is enamored by her and their apparent love for each other.
With time, Lesbia s betrayal leads Catullus to become bitter towards his former lover,
which then manifests itself into slander, mockery and invective to demoralize her
Eating Meat Ethics
In many societies, most people today consume meat and other types of food that
came from an animal, yet there is a growing controversial debate regarding whether
or not it is ethically right to eat any kind of animal. A commonly used argument
against eating meat is that it is not necessary to survive or improve your health by
eating meatand killing animals just for the sake of the taste that eating meat gives, is
unjustifiably wrong. Those against eating meat also believe that the meat production
resembles animal husbandry and it is one of the many alarming concerns involving
animal welfare and their rights. Those in support of eating meat have responded
with cultural, nutritional, scientific, and religious reasoning for their support of
meat eating. Some meat eaters will not consume animal flesh if the animal is killed
cruelly in a factory farm slaughterhouses or avoiding particular meats such as fois
gras. A pioneer of the animal liberation movement, Peter Singer stated that it is
possible to live healthy and survive without the consumption of any animal
byproducts, which would cause harm to these animals. Because Singer claimed that
since animals can feel, philosophers that either agree or disagree with Singer, had
built upon their works based on Singer and his message was applied by advocates of
animal rights.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Philosophy Of Life Essay.pdf

  • 1. Philosophy Of Life Essay Writing an essay on the philosophy of life can be a challenging and introspective task. The topic itself delves into profound and abstract concepts, requiring a deep exploration of one's personal beliefs, values, and perspectives. Philosophical reflections on life often demand a careful examination of existential questions, moral dilemmas, and the complexities of human existence. Crafting such an essay involves navigating through a myriad of philosophical schools of thought, ranging from existentialism to stoicism, and grappling with the profound ideas of renowned philosophers. This demands not only a solid understanding of various philosophical concepts but also the ability to critically analyze and synthesize them in a coherent manner. Moreover, articulating one's own philosophy of life can be an intimate and challenging process. It requires self-reflection, honesty, and the courage to confront one's own beliefs. The writer must carefully choose words to express abstract ideas, ensuring that the essay is not only intellectually stimulating but also emotionally resonant. Furthermore, the difficulty lies not only in presenting a personal philosophy but also in connecting it to broader philosophical discourse. The essay should demonstrate an awareness of the historical and cultural context of philosophical ideas, offering a nuanced perspective that goes beyond mere personal reflections. In essence, writing a philosophy of life essay demands a combination of intellectual rigor, self- exploration, and the ability to communicate complex ideas with clarity. It is a journey into the depths of one's thoughts, requiring the writer to navigate the intricate web of philosophical concepts while staying true to their own unique perspective. For those who find themselves grappling with the complexity of such a task, assistance is available. • 3. Coronary Collateral Circulation And Humans Are Often More... Studies looking at coronary collateral circulation in humans are typically more controversial. Skeptics have stated that collateral development is probably due to the progression of coronary artery disease rather than an effect of exercise training. In addition, direct measurement of collateral growth, typically through coronary angiographic techniques, is difficult and may have severe limitations due to low levels of resolution of vessels (Heaps et al., 2011). Small vessels involved in the coronary collateral system ( 100Ојm) are incredibly difficult to view angiographically, so the full magnitude of collateralization may not be assessed or may be drastically underestimated (Heaps et al., 2011; Belardinelli et al., 1998). An additional approach that studies have used to measure collateral circulation development is to measure the rate pressure product in patients with coronary artery disease (CAD). Increases in rate pressure product at the beginning of myocardial ischemia have been found and is potentially related to increased myocardial oxygen supply from collateral growth stimulation (Senti et al., 1998). After exercise training, coronary patients have also seen a 29% increase in coronary flow reserve in response to adenosine (Hambrecht et al., 1993). Patients with chronic CAD and impaired LV systolic function who exercised at 60% of peak oxygen uptake 3 times a week for 8 weeks saw a significant increase in mean collateral circulation score and improvements in wall
  • 4. Summary Of A Passage To India And A Passage To India Despite having drastically different perspectives, E.M. Forster and Mulk Raj Anand display a common disdain for British imperialism and racism while sharing in a struggle to fully capture the complexities of the British Raj while still spreading their intended message in their novels, A Passage to India and Untouchable. Untouchable and A Passage to Indiawere not written solely for entertainment. The authors shared purpose for writing the stories is more important than the stories themselves. Forster was largely involved in the politics of imperialism, having worked with the International Red Cross in Alexandria for four years and written a pamphlet that condemned the colonization of Egypt by Britain (Meyers 238). Later in life he would write only essays, criticisms, biographies, and broadcasts with the intention of sharing his liberal views (Parry 253). He was clearly motivated intensely by his political views. When referring to his novel, Forster said, The political side of it was an aspect I wanted to express... It had some political influence it caused people to think of the link between India and Britain and to doubt if that link was altogether of a healthy nature (Meyers 238). Anand was just as passionate in his desire to share his political opinions. In the words of R.K. Dhawan, Untouchable has no story interest; it is just an impassioned plea for social cause (102). In writing Untouchable, Anand s goal to shine light upon the trials of the Indian far surpasses the significance enjoying the plot on its own. Each story is carefully crafted to influence the reader s opinion on imperialism, and efforts to amuse the reader can be traced back to the authors desire to share their political viewpoints. These shared convictions come from writers who viewed the British Raj from opposite sides, Anand as an Indian, and Forster as a British man. Anand was a resident of Punjab, a hub for Indian rebellion, and a massacre where hundreds of Indains were killed took place in his hometown (Harrex 36). He experienced the trauma of the Indian people personally. For him, colonialism is something he has endured. He was also arrested and beaten brutally by the police, having been left with dark marks on his back

  • 6. Revenge in Hamlet and The Revenger s Tragedy Essay In this study of revenge and revengers in two Elizabethan revenge tragedies the two plays I shall look at are Hamlet, by William Shakespeare, and The Revenger s Tragedy, by Thomas Middleton. I shall look first at the playwrights handling of the characters of the revengers, and then at the treatment of the revengers by other charactersin the plays. Although having similarities in their underlying themes, and in their adherence to conventions, these two plays present contrasting pictures of the figure of the revenger; Hamlet offering a far more complex treatment of its main character, and The Revenger s Tragedy appearing, in comparison, limited by the author s social message, and lacking in realistic characterisation. Hamlet and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Both revengers respond to, rather than initiate events, but Hamlet is much more an instrument of others than Vindice, who is full of zest. Both characters carry a burden of guilt. Hamlet s Oedipus complex, (Freud having informed us of the revenger s unconscious motives), is heavily aggravated by the absence of his father and excessive closeness of his mother, and this accounts for the refocusing of his patricidal wish onto Claudius, and shows how his need for revenge is internal, not purely a need to resolve dissatisfaction with the affairs of the world , as is Vindice s. Hamlet s needs are deep and complex, while for Vindice: The smallest advantage fattens wronged men. [1.2.98] Hamlet s internalisations arise because he has identified his ego with his father the lost object and is therefore suffering from a loss of ego. His inward suffering is further intensified by his conflicts with Ophelia and Gertrude, leading him to suicidal thoughts: O that this too too sullied flesh would melt, Thaw, and resolve itself into a dew! Or that the Everlasting had not flx d His canon gainst self slaughter! [1.2.129 132] Hamlet is searching deep into his soul for explanations and resolutions, while Vindice simply waits for that bald Madam Opportunity . [1.1.55] Hamlet s delaying, compared to Vindice s incessant activity, shows that the two revengers are in a way opposite in their approaches to the
  • 7. Obscenity In The Workplace Using an obscenity in any sense shows a lot about a person s character. I feel in any situation if a person is deciding to let those words slip from their lips they lose their right to decide if anyone knows about it. The three given examples involve three different types of people, two public and one private. All muttered the word asshole. I feel no matter their title the word should stay in the quote. It is ultimately up to the journalist s discretion if the quote is necessary to use, but if it is, the obscenities should be left in. When the private figure, Deborah Woodell, used the word to express how angry she was, a reader can feel the emotions in her tone. The same thing goes for both George Bush and Larry Brown. Though Bush was unaware ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If they felt it showed exactly how the person was feeling, it is okay to keep the obscenity in the quote. However, if the word does nothing for the quote and story and the person just has a potty mouth, it is unacceptable and needs to be removed. If the word shows emotion, it is okay to keep in my book. If for some reason I were going to decide to make a list of rules when dealing with situations like this I would decide that stronger curse words be covered up by number signs (#). Words like asshole seem to be on the weaker end of the curse word spectrum so that word could be spelled out. Other words would be dashed out such as the word bitch. Again, the word would only appear in the quote if the journalist felt it added to the story. If it were to appear the word would look like this, B##ch.You can still see what the word was supposed to be, but it doesn t jump out of the page as much because it is spelled wrong. Overall, I think that curse words show emotion. I don t think it is the right way to show how you feel, but when they are used in a situation it shows the character of the person saying them. The public has the right to know the true self of anyone being quoted in a news paper. Advice for people knowing they are in a public place or being interviewed, just don t curse. These heroes importance on americans is that they help us, the people in many different ways like physically and mentally / vocally. These heroes empower common people to do better. these heroes importance to the world is greatest, they help us to be better (and make the world better) and learn from them. The fact that the players have most of the power in the NBA leads to a lack of loyalty between the players and the organizations. A lot of players jump from team to team in order to make more money, or move to a better team. In college, once a player commits they most often stays with that school. There are some transfers here and there, but as a whole it does not happen very often. It is nice to see a player that stays loyal to his team. When it comes to the plays that are run during the game, the college level ones are more interesting. There are a lot more offensive sets shown by a college offense than an NBA offense. Seeing all of these different plays that include multiple passes, screens, and backdoor cuts is more interesting to watch than an NBA

The Iranians on their part can probably be correlated with the subsequent so called Yaz I culture in the BMAC complex, which reflects major cultural changes towards a more rural society after 1 500 BCE. They apparently remained in Central Asia, and only by the end of the second millennium BCE began to spread over the Iranian plateau. By the second half of the eighth century BCE, Iranian Median and Persian tribes (Mada and Parswa) had already been long established among the original non Iranian speakers of the Zagros mountain ranges of Iranian Kurdestan, according to the records of the Assyrian ruler Shalmaneser III (r. 858 824 BCE). Comparison Of Macbeth And Lady Macbeth Contrast Comparison of Macbeth and Lady Macbeth While analyzing the two main characters in Shakespeare s tragic play Macbeth, critics have often argued about their true nature and inner coherence. Despite the effort made, very rarely are the characters presented as their true self, without the inclusion of psychoanalytical theories and other studies. Consequently, this essay s primary goal is to analyze and discuss the main characteristics of the Macbeth couple and how they relate with each other by using nothing but a careful reading of the thoughts and actions of each of the characters and no external influence or studies whatsoever. The first thing that the Macbeth couple share is the malicious influence exerted on them by the Weird Sisters. On the one hand, Macbeth is directly faced with the witches, who tell him of his new title of Thane of Cawdor (a fact that the audience already knows from what King Duncan said to the nobles after hearing the bleeding captain s report) and more importantly, of his future kingship, with Banquo being Lesser than Macbeth, and greater. /[Getting] kings, though thou be none (Macbeth I. iii. 66 68). The immediate fulfillment of this prophecy in the arrival of Ross and Angus, bringers of Macbeth s new title wrongly leads the newly crowned Thane of Cawdor to assess the witches intention as good, therefore freeing from his mind the murderous thoughts that he supposes will allow him the Crown. It represented a tiny minority who had achieved success within the western educational system, mastered the colonial language, converted to Christianity, and usually occupied junior positions within the colonial hierarchy such as clerks, teachers, or clergymen (Par.28). The main problems of these human errors were failures in interpersonal communication, leadership, and decision making in the flight deck (or cockpit). With this in mind and the need to improve on air safety, Crew Resource Managementwas developed. We will define CRM and then continue further to define subsequent automations and questionnaires that have developed through CRM. We will discuss the importance of CRM, automations, and questionnaires and the research findings. Crew Resource Management Crew Resource Management (CRM) has come a long way. It not only included characteristics in aviation in which the crew must function in, but it also included multiple input factors such as organizational culture. Several airlines also included training modules addressing CRM issues in flightdeck automation. And CRM also started to expand to other within the airline industry (i.e. flight attendants, dispatchers, and maintenance personnel). (Helmreich, Merritt, Wilheim, 1999) The fourth generation CRM would seem to eliminate the problem of human error by making it an integral part of all flight training. It would also appear that the goal of making explicit CRM training go away is starting to be realized. (Helmreich, Merritt, Wilheim, 1999) In the fifth generation CRM, the goal is for normalization of error and the development of strategies for managing error. If error is inevitable, then CRM can be seen as a set or error countermeasures. (Helmreich, Merritt, Wilheim, 1999) Through these generations, Crew Resource Management has become known to many as just a three letter acronym. From when CRM was first developed by NASA, it has lost much of its meaning. We can define CRM as a safeguard for the limits of human performance (Merritt Helmreich, 1996). CRM can be further defined as a management system that makes the best possible use of all its available resources (i.e. people and equipment) to promote safety and improve the effectiveness

The symphony would be played across the country and it would encourage Americans to aid the Soviets in their attempt to defeat the Nazis. All living organisms are able to grow, develop and reproduce through the consumptions and supplements of essential nutrients and vitamins that help flourishing their bodies. This is done by the food ingestion, which is taking in food or drink through the mouth, then these are passed to the digestive system where food is processed into forms that the body can easily utilised. Hence, obstruction to this system can cause enormously harm to the body (Peate Gormley Fleming, 2014). The digestive system consists of many organs, in

Social Value And Social Values Along with teaching family values and integrity, another common life lesson task of parenting is to teach children how to responsibly manage the money that is given. With these money management goals, when giving money to a child, parents must also guide a child toward being selfless; a child should be taught not to view self as socially above others who may be without. Unfortunately, in the current century, this viewpoint is generally not the case. Money has become an ongoing focus for most as wealth turns into a social status. The three divisions of this century social value are lower, middle, upper class citizens. Depending on how much the parent s guide their social value, life skills, and money will be the result of what three classes the individual will be socially be placed into. At the lower end of the spectrum, the struggling, also viewed socially as the lower class, are the people feeling strapped in the present and anxious about the future. Parents in the lower division do not have the wealth to establish their kids a division in society. Being in this status starts to become a challenge for the parents to be able to secure the knowledge about finance that their child will need to know. For example, the lower class parents live pay check to pay check, but cannot teach their child about saving or how to secure yourself in a social status. This is where your stronger integrity and family values show vividly in a child because the parents would teach the

The Mutation Of The Horror Genre Kalmina (Alex) Wu Josh Jackson Media Studies 10 30 September 2014 The Mutation of the Horror Genre Horror can be defined as a genre meant to psychologically trigger individual fear with the presence of certain supernatural or abstract characteristics. The genre is dependent on people s fascination with unrealism and the sensation that comes from experiencing fear personified into tangible elements on a screen. Horror films have thrilled audiences for decades, revealing stories of the more sinister parts of life. The popular allure that stems from the genre comes from the tension moviegoers experience when aroused by specific stimuli uniquely present in these cinematic features (Walters). Over time, as the genre progressed, the standardized elements found in a typical horror movie began to shift in different directions primarily due to changing societal circumstances and increasing consumer demand for cinematic innovation. The expansive nature of the different codes and conventions within the horror genre, coupled with the evolution of society s fascination with these characteristics, has led to the mutation of the genre itself in order to allow for unique approaches to a familiar style in response to both economic developments and taste shifts within the consumer industry. Definitions of horror tend to emphasize the psychological effect it has on audiences. Specifically, they highlight the internal terror that arises from encountering threats to existence. According to
