Radio Frequency Identification And Its Application
Radio Frequency Identification its Application in Retail Business
Anupama Aroonkumar

Fayetteville, Arkansas
INTRODUCTION
Engineering is giving organizations approaches to end up quicker and more effective in every
aspect of the inventory control and supply chain, from the business to the consumer. The motivation
behind this paper is to investigate one technology that has had an incredible effect on the production
planning. This technology is the Radio Frequency identification (RFID).
What is RFID?
Radio frequency identification has gained its awareness after it has been recently introduced in the
field of retail and supply chain management. This technology uses radio waves to automatically ...

This antenna enables the chip to transfer the waves back to the reader. The reader then converts
the radio waves into digital information that can be analyzed from the computer. Based on the
frequency the tags are classified as active and passive. Passive tags operate at microwave frequency
and its use can be limited in the read zone. It will become latent after leaving the read zone. Active
tags have power from an internal battery and hence do not need a reader. These tags can store more
data and are expensive than passive tags. The picture below (Fig 1.) describes the process of RFID
tags works. Figure 1 : How RFID Works
RFID Challenges in Retail Business
Agility, speed and visibility are required into all the manufacturing process during all stages to
ensure high accuracy of delivering goods. There are a number of challenges that the retail business
face before implementing the RFID like lacking transparency, time consuming and labor intensive
manual work and challenging warehouse management, and production planning. All these are
prone to human error. The RFID focuses on prime issues like out of stock (OOS), inventory
accuracy, product location and loss detection. Implementing RFID with the business process
enhances the replenishment practices of the company, decreasing the out of stocks.
Factors for Implementing RFID
By studying why the retailers wanted to implement RFID in their business operations, majority of

The Stonewall Rebellion Or Stonewall Riots
The Stonewall Rebellion or Stonewall Riots was a series of violent riots that took place between
gay and trans activists, drag queens, and other patrons of The Stonewall Inn against the police after
a raid had been carried out by the Sixth Precinct police. The days and rebellions that followed are
monumental moments in LGBT and World history.
For New York s gay and trans communities the 1960 s marks a turning point in their history;
Sodomy had been reduced to a misdemeanour, with a maximum sentence of six months in prison,
the anti gay accommodation rules of the New York State Liquor Authority had been overturned,
allowing homosexuals to congregate and be served alcoholic beverages in bars, The American
Psychiatric Association reclassified ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Nevertheless, it became a nightly home to homeless youth and runaways, drag queens, people of
colour, and other minorities who were often not accepted in gay spaces. Among its patrons was
African American, Trans, Gay, and AIDS activist, sex worker, and drag queenMartha P. Johnson.
Who would famously claim that the P. stood for Pay it No Mind .
The Stonewall Inn had been registered as a private Bottle Bar which meant patrons were expected
to bring their own liquor. The Genovese Family would often bribe the Sixth Precinct to turn a
blind eye to the activities occurring in inn. However, in the early hours of June 28th 1969 and
readied with a warrant for storing and selling liquor without a licence; the police prepared to raid
The Stonewall Inn.
The raid began just after 3a.m, and the police found the illegal liquor and began arresting
employees while the crowd booed but remained otherwise calm. Howard Smith, a village voice
reporter who stayed with the police throughout the riot reported During the gay power riots at the
Stonewall last Friday night I found myself on what seemed to me the wrong side of the blue line.
Very scary. Very enlightening. After arresting some of the employees, including the bartender,
doorman, and reportedly brutalising some of the patrons. The police turned their focus on those
suspected in violation of New York s gender appropriate laws; They had checked 5 persons

Cuban Sugar Revolution
Life in Cuba prior to 1959, simply put, was miserable for most and luxurious for a few. 70% of
Cuba s total area was monopolized by only 8% of those who owned land. One third of the island
was owned by 250 cattle latifundium (ranches). Sugar, however, ruled supreme. Sugar estates
controlled 70 75% of the arable land. The heavy concentration of sugar caused very high annual
unemployment because of the seasonality of the Zara, the sugar cane harvest. At the same time, it
kept land out of food production and forced a heavy reliance on imported food. The result of all
these factors was a poverty ridden society of unemployment, malnutrition, ill health, illiteracy and a
terribly corrupt government. In January 1959, the change began. Two years of... Show more content

Essay on The Importance of Assisted Living
Taking care of the individuals that are getting older takes many different needs. Most of these
needs cannot be given from the help of a family. This causes the need of having to put your love
one into a home and causing for the worry of how they will be treated. It is important for the
family and also the soon to be client to feel at home in their new environment. This has been an
issue with the care being provided for each individual, which has lead to the need of making sure
individuals have their own health care plan. Assisted living is an effective type of care facility

Assisted living helps each person value life to its fullest potential. When it comes to making an

The Safety Team For A Utility Company Called American...
For my interview report, I chose to analyze the Safety Team for a utility company called
American Electric Power (AEP). For my interview, I had the opportunity to question leader Mr.
Leon Lilly who is a DSS (District Systems Supervisor) within the company and Tom Smith who is
a Line Crew Supervisor. Considered company leadership and one of the leading individuals on this
team, Mr. Lilly is considered middle management, the liaison between corporate leaders and the
employees who are conducting the work. Labeled a working supervisor, Mr. Smith actively works
on the line crew, supervising and managing day to day activities.
At the beginning of the interview as Mr. Lilly approached me with an intriguing professional
personality. A very nice looking, physical fit man with his salt and pepper hair, Mr. Lilly s shirt
was neatly ironed and tucked in and his boots were shined. Obviously, this man was prior military
displayed not only by his appearance but also in his confidence. On the other hand, Mr. Smith had
the opposite impression with his dirty boots, wrinkled shirt and goofy/joking personality. His
unprofessional appearance and personality caught me off guard since this interview was being
conducted at 830 AM.
After sitting down across from them at a large conference table, I began to inquire on the purpose
and mission of the team. The team consists of an environment where individuals from management
and leadership are responsible and accountable for the safety of the

Angelina Grimke Abolition
Because of her concern for white masters and resulting choices to abandon her famous slave
holding family to move to the North, to write an address to southern women, and to speak in front
of audiences of both men and women, Angelina Grimke adopted the abolitionist cause and often
challenged her role in society. Originally, Grimke was promoting abolition out of concern for
whites as she believed that slaverywas anti Christian; she was seen trying to discourage family
from having slaves out of concern for her salvation. However, that family would have been a
difficult one to persuade as they were the one of the most prominent slaveholding families in South
Carolina; there were rumors that each family member had their own slave who would help

Define And Describe The Three Analytics Types Essay
1.Define and describe the three analytics types. a.Descriptive Analytics. This type of business
analytics is to answer the question what is happening and why did it happen? . The process of
descriptive analytics is looking at past performance and understanding this performance. Data
mining, data aggregation, segmentation, profiling are some tools that can be used to perform the
descriptive analytics. The output of this analytics, for example, is the age range of bank customers,
the income distribution of the customers, number of children in the household, and customers
preferences. b.Predictive Analytics. This type of business analytics is to answer the question What
is likely to happen? . The process of predictive analytics is identifying past patterns and using
statistical models and forecast techniques to understand the future. The output of the predictive
analytics, for example is, which age range of customers that will apply for credit cards in the next
12 months, which income range of the customers that will use the electronics banking facilities for
next 2 years. c.Prescriptive Analytics. This type of analytics will help answer the question What
action should be taken? . This analytics uses optimization and simulation algorithms to advise on
possible outcomes (maximize good outcomes and minimize potentially bad outcomes). Prescriptive
analytics is a decision making tool equipped with the risk mitigation. The output of prescriptive
analytics, for example

eventually, healing will happen. Hopefully, as a part of that healing, Ponette can even come

The Principle Of Separation Of Powers
The method of separation of powers was a very important addition to the constitution for the
founders of the document. After years of struggling under Great Britain s regime then finally
getting freed, they wanted to make sure they avoided every way of a totalitarian government
arising. Thus forth, the founders developed the idea of separation of powers. However, this was the
18th century. Although the creators of the constitution did a great job at developing a long
lasting agreement between government and citizens, there was no way for them to be 100%
aware of the future consequences with would have in the 21st century. Britain s totalitarian rule
over the colonies was one of the main reasons for the idea of separation of powers. The king of
Great Britain was a very harsh ruler. Two of the biggest problems was that, he imposed outrageous
taxes on the colonist and they also had close to no rights. He could do whatever he wanted
whenever he wanted to. To avoid this after the colonies declared themselves free, they split up the
government in a way that one branch cannot become too powerful and take over all of the country.
The three branches that were created were the; legislative branch, executivebranch, and the judicial
branch. The legislative branch consist of the senate and the House of Representatives. They are in
charge of passing federal laws, approving treaties and presidential appointments, and establishing
lower court systems. The executive branch places the

Car And Motorcycle Shows That Relate To College
The greatest sight is cars and motorcycles, anything from little Hondas to Lamborghinis and also
little Harleys to big fast crotch rockets outside and everywhere around you, also my favorite the
Yamaha R6. Guys and girls revving their loud engines is the best sound ever. That is the place I
feel the best at, the car shows and motorcycles meets. The car and motorcycles shows can relate
to college many ways and with the most meaningful part. I would have to say the car and
motorcycle shows/meets because they can relate to college in many ways. One way is because
some colleges sometimes have car shows on campus grounds and lots of people go to them just
like many people go to college, it is also on college grounds. The second thing is that car shows and
bike meets is timeto get away from the home work. To also have fun with your friends and to see
cool cars and bikes. That is just like college because you make new friends in college and it is

thing at car shows. They say Oh my car is just a car and I do not know anything about it . Or
Cars are just vehicles and I do not care about them all cars are the same . With those two quotes
you do not find those kinds of people at car shows just like at college, you do not hear students

A Doll s House, By Henrik Ibsen
A Doll House written by Henrik Ibsen is about a wife s struggle to step beyond her limited
identity that her husband and society imposed upon her (Ibsen 1257). This play dramatizes the
internal struggle women face to find their true identity instead of the one placed on them by their
husbands and society. As we look at A Doll House from a Psychological approach, we see that the
Helmer household and their friends have more conflicts than meets the eye. Each character has
internal conflicts and some are more apparent than others ( A ). Nora Helmer has different

Nora perfectly portrays an average wife and Torvald portrays the average controlling husband.
Nora is blind to the fact that she has been mistreated in the beginning. Towards the end of the
play, Nora begins to realize just how bad she has been treated and Torvald reveals his true colors.
When Torvald degrades Nora, this causes tension and hatred towards him for female readers.
One thing he said was Why can t you understand your place in your own home? (3.1). When
Nora stands up to Torvald and tells him that she is no longer going to be mistreated; it gives
female readers the strength to stand up for their rights. It also encourages women to not let their
husbands treat them like a doll in a dollhouse. A Doll House has more of an impact on female
readers than male readers. This play talks about the sensitive subject of women s rights and that
is a big issue for many women. Male readers are either not affected or they are angered by the
things Torvald says. How Torvald acts at the end of the play really makes people think about
how bad life was back when women were just viewed as people who cooked and cleaned. After
reading the play, people might feel that we do not want to have things go back to the way things

Osteomyelitis Research Paper
Abstract Osteomyelitis is a broad and debilitating disease typically triggered by a variety of
conditions. Osteomyelitis starts off as inflammation seen within bone and bone marrow that can
quickly progress into a large, subclassified infection. The length of time the infection has been
present in the body and whether or not there is a pus formation or increased density among the
infected bone is commonly used to classify severity. Pyrogenic bacteria or mycobacteria
systematically attack the route and anatomic location of the infection evolving acute conditions into
chronic ones. Staphylococcus Aureus is a gram positive, round shaped, non mobile cocci typically
found in clusters inside these wounds. Staphylococcus Aureus is one of the most common causes of
infections after injury or surgery and affects nearly 500,000 patients in hospitals each year.
Staphylococcus Aureus belongs to the family Staphylcoccaceae and survives by affecting all
known mammalian species including humans (www.news medical.net). Osteomyelitis can start in

Ergotism, The Causes Of The Salem Witch Trials
The Salem Witch Trials were a series of hearings and prosecutions of men and women accused of
witchcraft in Massachusetts starting in the winter of 1691 1692. The last of the trials were held
in January of 1693. Several hundreds of men and women were accused and by the end of 1692, 19
men and women had been put to death for their actions as if the devil were in Salem. Ergotismwas
the cause of the Salem Witch Trials. Ergot, which grows on the rye crop, when eaten the fungus can
cause symptoms that the early colonists considered to be witchcraft. Symptoms of ergotism were
compared to those of lysergic acid diethylamide(LSD) and were found very similar to the symptoms
of hysteria. The climate that the rye grows in either promotes or demotes the growth of the fungus.
Ergot infects plants when they are young and causes cells to divide and enlarge, which creates large
brown sclerotia. Sclerotia are hard resting structures that allow the fungus to survive in the harshest
conditions (Volk). Ergotism is a condition that starts to exist because of ergotamines, which are
substances that are produced due to a fungal infection of grains. Ergotamines cause symptoms that
include hallucinations, gastrointestinal discomfort, a burning sensation in limbs and extremities,
and dry gangrene, which is the falling away of dead or dying body tissue due to lack of blood
flow. At one point in time, ergot was used as medicine. Women would use it to treat excessive
bleeding during their menstrual

The outside pressures were the main reasons the boys acted out the way they did. An example is
in Dead Poets Society, Neil had wanted to take an easier class at the beginning of the school
year, but his father had rejected the idea. When Neil s father also did this with his want to
become an actor, it resulted in Neil taking his own life. The boys in Dead Poets Society were
forced to do whatever their parents wanted them to do. The pressures in A Separate Peace are
different, but they are still pressures that impact the way these boys act and think. One very
important pressure in the novel A Separate Peace is the war. The war played such a crucial event
throughout the story because it was the main reason they were all fidgety and worried at times,
they never wanted to be drafted into the war. Even though they knew they did not want to be in
the war, they would go in a patriotic way if they had to. This also lead to another problem with
outside pressure. Finny was not physically able to be drafted into any force, whether it be

Comparison of How Spain, France, Britian, and America...
In this essay, I will compare and contrast how Spain, France, England, and America viewed and
interacted with Native peoples differently as they colonized North America. It is reported that
roughly three hundred and fifty thousand Native Americans called the area known today as
Florida home, when Spanish explorer Ponce de Leon landed his fleet of ships on the coast in the
early 1500 s. As we have discussed and learned when the Native people were colonized by
outsiders it was not a great day. The Natives of Florida were not immune; war, slavery, disease,
and extremely low child birth rates took a devastating toll on the Florida tribes. A charter
penned by Ponce de Leon, known as the encomienda, granted Spain the ability to enslave the
Natives of Florida. Forcing them to work in the crop fields and essentially making them the
major labor force; constructing and designing the buildings occupied by the Spanish. The
oppression did not end there. Around the middle of the 16th century the Native people were
declared to be free, but only on paper. The Spanish royals felt that the Natives needed to educated
in the ways of Catholicism, and those that did not want to conform could be punished up to and
including death. Life was not easy for the Spaniards who tried to live in Florida. It was in fact,
very difficult; and they had no time to convert any of the Native people to Catholicism. However,
once they did get settled and started to become acclimatized to Florida s environment they

Myplan Weaknesses
First in foremost, I would like to say completing the MyPlan assignments were very informative.
This is the case because, it allowed me to gain more knowledge then I already knew about
myself. In other words, completing these assessments gave me the opportunity to look at myself
from the outside. In this essay we will take a look at some of my strengths, new strengths that
were presented, some of the weakness that I wasn t aware of, and will this information help me
find my career job? Nevertheless, lets begin! As listed in the opening paragraph, the first thing we
will discuss will be strengths that I affirmed/new strengths that I learned . It became clear that I am

Strange right? I was excited because it will give me somethings to get better at. No one should
be afraid of their weaknesses, just look at it as a chance to progress. I was beyond surprised
when I found out that some of my weaknesses were, problems with public speaking, and how I
prefer to not work with others . I beyond disagree with the assignment stating that I have a
problem with public speaking. I guess it went off of the fact that I am a introvert, and tend to not
speak as much. But maybe, I can step out of my comfort zone a little bit, and talk more in class
to fix the issue. Working alone is something that I have always enjoyed in my years growing up.
I guess you can say it became the norm for me. Does this mean that I can t work with others?
Absolutely not! It falls back on the entire idea that, I just rather keep to myself then deal with
others. I ve always enjoyed working alone for the fact that, I can worry about mot having to
worry about if the assignment will get done or not. Funny as it sounds, I tend to mesh with well
with others when I have to work with them. This is an easy fix, I believe I will improve on this by,
constantly telling myself that theirs always someone who knows just as much as you do. And to
always remember that two heads are better than one. Moreover, I will lean more towards
collaborating with others, instead of staying behind the

The Use Of Aestivation And Vertebrate Animals
Introduction
Aestivation is derived from Latin: aestas, summer, but also spelled aestivation in American English
is a state of animal dormancy, similar to hibernation, characterized by inactivity and a lowered
metabolic rate that is entered in response to high temperatures and arid conditions. It takes place
during times of heat and dryness, the hot dry season, which are often the summer months. [1]
Mechanism of Aestivation
Invertebrate and vertebrate animals are known to enter this state to avoid damage from high
temperatures and the risk of desiccation. Both terrestrial and aquatic animals undergo aestivation.
Organisms that aestivate appear to be in a fairly light state of dormancy, as their physiological
state can be rapidly reversed, and the organism can quickly return to a normal state. A study done
on Otala lactea, a snail native to parts of Europe and Northern Africa shows that they can wake from
their dormant state within ten minutes of being introduced to a wetter environment. Fossil records
show that the act of aestivating may be several hundred million years old.
The primary physiological and biochemical concerns for an aestivating animal are to conserve
energy, retain water in the body, ration the use of stored energy, handle the nitrogenous end
products, and stabilize bodily organs, cells, and macromolecules. This can be quite a task as hot
temperatures and arid conditions may last for months. The depression of metabolic rate during
aestivation causes a

How To Modernise Othello
Good morning ladies and gentlemen, and I hope you re as excited as I am to be here, to discuss
with you my new film pitch, a modern adaptation of one of Shakespeare s most loved classics,
Othello.
Despite being written to pander to the lowest common demoniter in Elizabethan times,
Shakespeare, in our society, seems to be reserved for scholars and the well educated, with its use
of language lowering it s accessibilty and providing us with a barrier to enjoyment , making it
relatively obsolete in our times.
Modernising Othello provides an opportunity to transform the play into an understandable and
relevant story, whilst preserving the themes, values and attitudes portrayed in the original, however,
manipulating them to resonate with a modern ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Entitled The Treachery of Images , the film makes reference to Magritte s infamous pipe painting,
reminding us that we should not necessarily believe in what we see and think, as deception lies in
every nook and cranny in our lives, meaning that nothing can truly be trusted. This is a modern and
novel nod to Othello, as the play itself is an adept exploration of the faces of good and evil, proving
the end point that nothing, and no one, are truly what they seem.
My vision re casts Othello as Oliver, a 20th century English Duke, who, despite his constant
questioning of the church and it s values, is appointed as mayor of a small village, leaving the
metropolitan haven of the city, and into a place where he is neither trusted nor accepted. With him
come his faithful and sweet wife, Dorothea, who married him against her heavily religious fathers
wishes, and his two sons, Ichabod and Charles. Whilst Oliver trusts, and supposedly favours,
Ichabod, Charles is far more successful than his brother, meaning he is named sole heir of the
families wealth and estate. For fair natured and trustworthy Ichabod, this would be a choice that he
would support wholly, however, a changling has taken his place, a curse put upon him by the God
that he questions so freely. Under the pretense of being Ichabod, the changeling begins to wreak
havoc, coaxing Oliver into pyschosis and convincing him that there is something Oedipal occuring
between Charles and Dorothea, and eventually causing Oliver to murder

The Influence Of Distort Reality On World Maps
1. The author Laura Hebert argues that maps must distort reality on world maps in order to be
accurate about the world all over. Hebert states, projections sacrifice absolute accuracy in any
particular domain in order to be relatively accurate in all domains. Projections including Mercator,
the Peters, the Robinson, and the Goode s, all have their strong points however each projection
doesn t work to perfect one particular area of maps. For example, instead of working to perfect
navigation, projections may sacrifice the accuracy of navigation to achieve overall accuracy on
maps. In other words, maps must distort reality to show us the greater truth.
2. Map projections are methods for representing the surface of the earth and it s shape. ... Show

The American Diet: Fast food has altered American diet as the author states, three hamburgers and
four orders of french fries every week , is what a typical American consumes. Fast food is now
consumed at any place, including schools, zoos, stadiums, airports, you name it. In fact, eating fast
food has fit in so well to the routines of typical Americans that walking into the same restaurant
everyday, probably even more than once, no longer passes as a disturbing thought. The McDonald s
Corporation is the world s largest chain of fast food restaurants that serves around 68 million
customers daily. This means that more than half a billion people walk into McDonald s everyday
to eat their meal of the day. Whether people notice it or not, the American Diet has irrevocably
changed. The Paleolithic diet consisted of foods such as meat, nuts and berries. All foods of that
time were unprocessed and organic as ever. Today, however, the American diet adopts the exact
opposite foods than those of the Paleolithic diet. Every meal served at a fast food restaurant is
processed and unhealthy to the point of killing. And it isn t only the cooking process that makes
these foods unhealthy but also the canned manufacturing process that takes place before the food
even reaches the restaurant. There is no doubt that the American Diet is warped as it no longer
assists us in maintaining our health but rather assists in deteriorating it while simultaneously
leaving us in deep shadows of

Extensive Wait Times for Surgeries
Canada s health care system assures universality, portability, and accessibility; disappointingly,
not all Canadians have access to specialists and facilities. Many patients face long wait times or
do not have access to anesthetic and surgical care because the inadequate supply of
anaesthesiologists for demand of Canada s aging population. For instance, a woman experiencing
severe pain in her right lower abdomen may endure excessive wait time to receive pain relief and

funnelled into the Canadian healthcare system, the average wait time for surgeries in Ontario is
approximately 14.3 weeks (Barua, Rovere Skinner, 2011).
Waste of Tax Dollars
Moreover, hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars are wasted since many Canadians do not have
timely access to anaesthesiologists. Almost five million Canadians do not have access health care

Personal Statement On Self Confidence
learnt at university, to plan out my vision before expressing it. This will help others buy in to
my vision. To do this, I will need to improve my self confidence. Self confidence is an important
characteristic of successful leaders. Cavallo and Brienza (2006) explain that self confidence
assists in the imaging process. Having self confidence not only helps, when and how well you
explain your vision, but, can help in developing an advanced vision (Sosik Dinger, 2007). Sosik
and Dinger (2007) state that confident leaders are able to portray their idea in a way that
facilitates trust, necessary for implementation. This is something that I have always struggled
with, I have always doubted my ability and skills. This makes me shy a way of sharing ideas and
for fighting for them. On placement, I would often use language that was discouraging of
myself as a social work practitioner and my skill set. My supervisor stated, that I need to be
more confident in what I bring to the organization. From this, I realized as a future practitioner
near my final stages of my degree, self confidence is a characteristic that I need to really further
develop. This is because, there is a need as a professional, to be confident in my own practice, in
order for my future clients and colleagues to trust in my ability. According to Adams and Adams

Equal Rights, Benefits, and Financial Implications
Although they currently are not the reality is that marriage benefits should be accessible to all
couples. Gay couples are unfairly denied the countless benefits enjoyed by heterosexual couples
that are able to marry. For instance, they are not eligible for tax benefits, insurance benefits and
are sometimes denied joint ownership of property. Furthermore, Same sex couples are even
denied the right to make certain medical decisions with regards to their partner. For example, a
gay couple that has been together for 25 years is not allowed to visit their partner in the hospital
after visiting hours due to the fact they are not considered family. They each are considered legal
strangers. A common belief among opponents of same sex marriage is that businesses would be
forced to provide benefits to same sex couples. (Bidstrup, 2004) This is not necessarily the case,
and many businesses already voluntarily offer marriage benefits to same sex couples as a matter of
good business sense. The businesses that offer these benefits recognize the importance and

cheap bulldog can cost between 300 to 500 dollars, and that is just for the dog itself. A well bred
bulldog usually is priced from a range of 1,500 to 4,000 dollars. The better the breeder, the more
expensive the dog. On top of that, the owner has to buy special insurance for a bulldog because
of all its health issues. They also have special diets and specific food allergies, which means that the
owner has to buy special bulldog food to fit their needs. Bulldogs all have expensive and special
needs, so the owners themselves need to be responsible in order to properly take care of

Essay about The Hanger Games by Suzanne Collins
There are various examples of people throughout history who had the upper hand over others and
have abused the power they had to make a negative impact or control other people s lives. Power
being defined as the capacity or ability to direct or influence the behaviour of others or the course
of events and abuse, meaning the use of something to badly effect or for a bad purpose . Suzanne
Collinsexemplifies power and abuse in various ways throughout her novel, The Hunger Games .
This intense novel is set in a time period after a rebellion in North America left the country
destroyed, divided into 12 districts and being controlled by the Capitol. Katniss Everdeen is the
main protagonist and is from the povertystricken district 12,... Show more content on

This action causes resentment among the districts as described in the novel when it is
explained why Gale, Katniss friend, is not fond of Madge who is the mayors daughter You can
see why someone like Madge, who has never been at risk of needing a tessera, can set him off.
The chance of her name being drawn is very slim compare to those of us who live in the Seam.
Not impossible, but slim. And even though the rules were set up by the Capitol, not the districts,
certainly not Madge s family, it s hard not to resent those who don t have to sign up for the
tesserae (The Hunger Gams Ch.1 pg. ) This further shows how because people like Katniss are
poverty stricken they begrudgingly will risk their lives and enter their name into the bowl more
times than needed, just for food.
There are many symbols throughout the novel that show rebellion against the Capitol, the main
one being the mocking jay pin that Katniss wore throughout the games. The pin she received was
a gift from Madge, to be worn as the token from district 12. The bird itself however was a sign of
rebellion and resilience long before Katniss wore it, the bird mocking jay being described as
something of a slap in the face to the Capitol (Pg 5 ) as the birds were a mutation that ended up
blindsiding the capitol during the rebellion years ago. It was the mockingjay pin Katniss wore that
made Rue, a

Another City Short Story
More Than Los Angeles
In the novel Another City many of the authors have their own opinions of how Los Angeles is or
how it shapes them as a person. Other stories are very short and tell stories of how Los Angeles
isn t as great a place even though we may have people fooled to think so. In the short story
Interesting Times the author Judith Lewis tells us about how she adjusted to living in Los Angeles
and how she views the city before and after lives there. Whether she felt she didn t belong,
people were too distracted with their own lives, or people were united by tragic events, Los
Angeles became her home and a place she lived in interesting times. These themes come up often
in the story and are the base of how Lewis feels about Los Angeles as she settles in to the new city.
Lewis starts the story talking about how she lives in Hollywood and is surrounded by famous
actors, actresses, and the Bat Caves of Griffith Park which are called that not for the amount of
bats that are there but because it was the sight of the Adam West s tv show Batman s batcave.
She talks about how she walks through the caves so often that people have mistaken her for
famous actresses in the past. When she would go for walks for a long time a woman named
Carol was so distracted by her life she would call the author Jessica. Confusing her for Jessica
Harper, a famous actress. Lewis didn t grow up in Los Angeles, coming from Minnesota for
work she was reluctant to come and probably never expected her life would be quite like this,
walking through Hollywood being confused for someone famous which she isn t. She talks
about how she feels the life of Los Angeles isn t for her but over time she identifies with the
people in her area. She didn t originally belong there but goes on to say, I have grown into this
scene; absorbed its perverse aesthetic by osmosis, along with its polluted air, impossible beauty
standards, and bad driving habits. Cell phone caught between shoulder and chin I drive wildly in
the passing lane, dashing to appointments, always late, huffing about traffic as I breeze through the
door. I jog, eat granola for breakfast, guzzle Chardonnay, practice yoga, attend premieres. I am a
walking clichГ©. (pg. 5 6). The

Critical Analysis of Edwin Arlington Robsin
Her Kisses Were the Keys to Paradise
Kaitlyn Cornell In Edwin Arlington Robinson s poetry, haunted houses sound like hanunted
houses, dark hills sound like dark hills, but to Robinson it goes beyond that. By the metaphors,
images, and emotion he puts into his writing, it is clear that he is feeling something beyond the
paper and ink. Many of his works are dark and melancholy and reflect something that may have
happened in his own life. There is a reoccuring theme that symbolizes his wife or significant other
walking out on him. Other poems reflect his feelings about that situation. Robinson shares with his
readers the anguish and recovery of the woman leaving him. .Perhaps Robinson s most famous
poem, Richard Cory , tells the story of a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There she was always coming pretty soon/ To fool him back, with penitent scared eyes is
Robinson s wife coming back in his dreams. The way he descroibes her as the laughter of the
moon and her kisses her the keys the Paradise shows how much he loves her. He mentions
Faithful or not, he loved her all the same which acknowledges that she has a flaw, but he still is
in awe around her. Also, he mentions her eyes once again which relates to Her Eyes . Robinson
uses this poem to reflect on that lonely night she fled and expresses just how much he cares for
her even after she left. Similarly, Another Dark Lady uses Robinson as the speaker and he again
says that she fled . He says I cannot hate you, for I loved you then which ties his feelings back to
The Story of the Ashes and the Flame . Robinson expresses that she is still beautiful even after
what she has done to him and he still loves her when she is gone. In The House on the Hill
Robinson portrays his relationship with his wife through a house. The House is shut and still,
there is nothing more to say creates an image of an old boarded up house which symbolizes their
relationship. Why is it then we stray/Around the sunken sill? is Robinson saying that it is time to
let go and there is no use staying in the lifeless situation. Robinson, as the speaker, uses they as
themselves when he says They are all gone away in the sense that

The Foreclosure Of The Last Couple Years
Foreclosure in the last couple years has become a well known word to a lot of young people, and
has become more frequent in the last couple of years. My family has gone through the process
and it was a very emotional time for us all. The only home my family was able to get into was one
that could be rented with the option to buy. Having more homes in the market that have that option
makes it not only more convenient, but more affordable for families like mine who have gone
through foreclosure. Giving possible tenants the option to rent towards owing is a great way to get
the housing market back on track. People who are struggling financially cannot afford to just buy a
home. Allowing people the option to rent towards buying, takes some of the stress off the tenants
and allows longer time to come up with the money, which means less people getting evicted or
foreclosed on. The less people that are foreclosed on, the better the market for homes will be.
Currently the market is great for anyone who is financially stable to purchase any home that has a
foreclosure sign out front. If the option rent to own was made more available the people looking
for homes, then it would allow them to save more money until they were financially stable to either
buy the home, or move to another affordable location. The owners who do offer the rent to own
option are not only allowing the tenants time to come to a more stable financial state, but are
making money themselves. If the

Hans Holbein The Ambassadors Essay
Hans Holbein s painting, The Ambassadors, is a beautiful piece of artwork with a slightly abstract
appearing twist. Holbein exhibits some expert precision and a talented eye in his work. When
examining The Ambassadors the viewer can truly understand the whole of the artwork and place
the unique portion of it under a revealing spotlight. In The Ambassadors, Holbein tries to portray
two noble looking men and their workplace in a time period dating around the 17th or 18th
century. Each man is placed on one side of the paintingwith a work desk between them filled with
instruments of the age. A long dark curtain stretches behind them and offers a reflective glow of
the light source. The scene is slightly shaded, yet colorful, as one man is dressed... Show more

The shelf between them adds interest with the now outdated and unusual instruments, but the
whole of the work doesn t portray any real sense of importance other than historical record. On the
contrary, the realistic detail of the piece is amazing and well communicated through Holbein s
excellent use of light and shadow, as well is accuracy of form. The light source is centered behind
the artist and shinning directly onto the men and desk, illuminating their figures. Both man and
desk cast a simple shadow to aid the concept of full illumination, but the textures of the clothing,
curtain, instruments, and other items are expertly portrayed in the artist s use of small harsh
shadowing and his blend of shading. The large, contrasted, elegant portrayal of the left man s
clothing creates emphasis that repeatedly drags the audience s eye back to this area. Such a vast
use of pattern and color, on the other hand, make any other emphasis less detectable and almost
allow the oddly placed blur on the bottom to escape attention. Eventually, its lack of balance and
seemingly disproportionate look snatch its deserved attention and force the viewer to get creative
in recognizing a figure. This is when the side view of the skull can be

My Favorite Beauty
Growing up, I never really had a favorite anything. I didn t have a favorite cartoon character that I
was obsessed with, as most children around the age of eight are. I didn t have a favorite outfit or
shoes that I wanted to wear to just about any occasion. Although I did have a favorite food, mac
and cheese, when it came to things like that it was just whatever I liked, I wanted. One day my
mom and I were going shopping with my aunt. It was sunny outside so I wore some faded jean
shorts, a striped pink and black tank top, and my black and pink Heely s. My mom had on a pair
of jeans, a black T shirt, and some black Michael Kors flip flops. It was a 25 minute drive from
my house to Sawgrass Mills Mall so I fell asleep on the ride there. My aunt met us at the front of
the mall. As we walked in, you could feel the temperature change. There were people walking
everywhere. I could even see some people sitting and getting massages because they ve probably
been walking around all day. You could hear some people on the phone, some just having
friendly conversations with people they probably didn t even know, and even a baby crying. We
had been in the mall for about an hour and wasn t even halfway through the building. Went in a
few clothing and shoe stores and left with at least three bags. The last shoe store we went into
was Footlocker which is where I got a pair of pink Nikes. When walking out of the store, we could
hear the voices of children coming from next door so we went

Essay about Women and Buddhism
Women and Buddhism
As a religion, Buddhism has a great impact on women, especially Asian women. Theravadan
Buddhism, which is the early stage of Buddhism, depreciates women by a theory called Five
Blocks . However, Buddhism started to affect women in a positive way when Buddha raised
several doctrines and explained the theory in a more proper way.
The Five Blocks theory can be summarized as women can t achieve enlightenment because
women are weak, jealous, annoying, desiring and having more affairs in the world. This theory
makes women inferior to men for a long time. Accordingly women are seen as a weaker sex,
cannot make a decision on their own, and they are dependent beings. As commodity, they must be

Chinese women formed their own Bhikkhuni group, only for and controlled by women. Emperor
Wuzetian even made use of Buddhism to help her being the first and only female emperor in
Chinese history. (Lin, 1193)
The change in Buddhism significantly helps women: women are no longer appendants, burden of
family or bearing tools; women have more freedom than before; women start to have their own
power and right. However, rather than saying Buddhism recognized women, I would prefer to say
Buddhism recognized Equality . Buddha considers everything in the world are equal, then men and
women are equal; Buddha considers men and women have the equal responsibility in the family,
then women act as wife more than bearing tools; Buddha considers men and women are equally
useful to society, then women can have more right and power than before. Buddha gave women an
opportunity to change their life; women themselves grasped the chance and finally get the respect
they deserved.

Speech-Language Pathology
Speech Language Pathology has been around since about the 1940 s. It is traced back to after
World War II when thousands of young servicemen and women returned with noise induced
hearing loss. The United States Government responded by creating hearing rehabilitation
programs at the military hospitals where hearing aid procedures were standardized across the
country. So what exactly is Speech Language Pathology? Have there been many Speech Pathology
developments over the years, and who are some of the key players? Yes, due to an increase in the
need for new advancements, there have been many new developments over the years. During the
1950 s 60 s, hearing programs emerged greatly in community speech and hearing centers geared to

A thirty year Speech Language Pathologist Shannon Piercy has seen the way her clients are
treated differently over time as technology grows. She explains that back in the day, they did a
lot of games, cards, workbooks and a lot of printed material with the clients. She says that they
really did not have a lot of special things so they had to make most of it up. With all the new
advances in the field of speech language pathology she says that we now have computers, iPads
and iPhones that have the software already loaded so we don t have to come up with the games
on our own. It makes it much easier to come up with a specific plan for each child. (Piercey

dramatic difference in her son s ability to communicate because of these new advances in
technology. She explains when he began early intervention at 18 months old, he was diagnosed
with a severe expressive language delay. Thanks in part to the use of technology in therapy, at four
years old, his language skills are now equivalent to his age level peers. (Hall

Longest Monotheistic Religion Essay
Slide 1
What is the oldest monotheistic religion?
But what happened to this once prosperous super power?
Who are these people, and what was their significance?
How did one person, kick start monotheism as a whole?
About 5000 years ago, around 3000 BCE, a group of people called the Proto Indo Iranians lived
on the South Russian Steppes to the east of the river Volga. The Proto Indo Iranians believed in a
primitive concept of order. They knew that order existed in the universe because night followed day,
the moon shone and faded and each year the seasons followed each other. They believed that

It was founded by a curious Prophet, and soon became the official religion of Persia (Iran) from
600 BCE to 650 CE. For 1000 years it was one of the most powerful religions in the world.
Currently, it is one of the smallest religions in the world. In 2006 the New York Times reported that
there were less than one hundred and ninety thousand followers worldwide.
And Zoroastrianism was formed.
Zoroastrianism inspired Judaism, Christianity, and Islam with its teachings of a single God, a
dualistic universe of good versus evil, and a final day of reckoning.
The Zoroastrians helped free the Israelites from the Babylonian Exile, and supported the
construction of the Second Temple in Jerusalem. Zoroastrian clergymen are also thought by many
scholars, as the wise men who were at the birth of Christ.
To the Zoroastrians, there is one God called Ahura Mazda , or Wise Lord .
The Zoroastrianism people are wrongfully thought to be fire worshipers. They believe that fire
represents God s light and wisdom, and that all of the elements are pure.
Ahura Mazda revealed the truth the Prophet Zoroaster, which started it

Fetal Alcohol Syndrome Effects
The results of drinking alcohol with a baby in the womb can be very serious. There are a range of
effects that can occur to the child exposed. The most serious result of drinking during pregnancy is
Fetal Alcohol Syndrome (FAS). Some of the effects of FAS are hyperactivity, short attention span,
learning problems, behavioral issues, delayed development, and abnormal facial features. The
abundance of problems the child will have all depends on the amount of alcoholconsumed by the
mother during pregnancy.
Not every mother who drinks heavily during pregnancy has a child with FAS. According to
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 2% to 5% of the population has FAS in the United
States. Alcohol is the leading cause of preventable birth

We use Barry Center crossing reduction heuristics. This is a two layer crossing reduction process. It
is applied from top to bottom layer then bottom to top, this completes one iteration.
Assign artificial positions to first layer and calculate barry center weights of nodes at second layer.
Reorder the nodes at second layer in ascending order of their barycenter weights. The above
equation is for top down sweeps of the layered graph. Similarly use Successors of v in bottom up
sweeps in the above equation. This process might not remove all edge crossings but gives a good
starting point for further Subgraph Crossing Reduction process.

A topological traversal of subgraph ordering graph gives ordering О±o denoting which subgraph is
left of other subgraph.
5.POSITIONING
The edge crossings are reduced and nodes are placed according to their subgraphs at each layer.
Now we need to calculate absolute positions for graph nodes such that there will be enough space
to draw subgraph boundaries. To draw subgraph vertical boundaries straight we add trail of
dummy vertical nodes one to the left and one to the right side of each layer in every subgraph.
The goal is to position the long edges as straight as possible and vertical borders of subgraph
strictly vertical without reordering the nodes at any layer. We present a heuristicapproach based on
Brandes[] approach. The nodes have different height and width. There should be no overlap
between any two nodes and node and subgraph boundary. The process consists of three steps. The
first and second steps are carried out four times. The first algorithm referred as vertical alignment, to
align nodes with its either median upper or median lower neighbor node. This will give maximum
possible straight long edges positions in upward and downward direction. The alignment conflicts
are resolved with leftmost and rightmost direction. Combination of the directions creates four
alignments namely Upward Left, Upward Right, Downward Left and Downward Right. In second
step each alignment is given absolute positions according to four alignments. In last step these
alignments

The Genocide Is The Systematic Extermination Of An Entire...
A genocide is the systematic extermination of an entire social, racial, or political group or nation,
specifically those of a particular ethnicity. While the genocide in Cambodia is not as widely
recognized as that of Rwanda or the Holocaust, millions of Cambodian citizens were murdered
between the years of 1975 and 1979 under the control of the Khmer Rouge. The government
depopulated cities and forcibly relocated citizens to collective farms known as Killing Fields
because of the unspeakable amount of deaths of all ages that occurred there. Approximately 14,000
lives were taken in these fields due to the stringent rules placed upon the citizens. The Khmer
Rouge advocated for social equality and transformed Cambodiainto a pre industrialized nation
centered around agriculture. The loss of millions of lives led to significant demographic changes,
ranging from an increase in the amount of elderly, homeless citizens, and to a decrease in ethnic
diversity across the nation. The dictatorship simultaneously lessened the culture and identity of
coming generations due to the execution of artists and musicians who brought forth important
aspects of tradition. The destruction of infrastructure also contributed to the limitations of postwar
Cambodia. In summary, The Khmer Rouge carried out a genocide that strongly influenced the
demographics, culture, and infrastructure of Cambodian society.

As we have discussed and learned when the Native people were colonized by outsiders it was not a great day. The Natives of Florida were not immune; war, slavery, disease, and extremely low child birth rates took a devastating toll on the Florida tribes. A charter penned by Ponce de Leon, known as the encomienda, granted Spain the ability to enslave the Natives of Florida. Forcing them to work in the crop fields and essentially making them the major labor force; constructing and designing the buildings occupied by the Spanish. The oppression did not end there. Around the middle of the 16th century the Native people were declared to be free, but only on paper. The Spanish royals felt that the Natives needed to educated in the ways of Catholicism, and those that did not want to conform could be punished up to and including death. Life was not easy for the Spaniards who tried to live in Florida. It was in fact, very difficult; and they had no time to convert any of the Native people to Catholicism. However, once they did get settled and started to become acclimatized to Florida s environment they ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I beyond disagree with the assignment stating that I have a problem with public speaking. I guess it went off of the fact that I am a introvert, and tend to not speak as much. But maybe, I can step out of my comfort zone a little bit, and talk more in class to fix the issue. Working alone is something that I have always enjoyed in my years growing up. I guess you can say it became the norm for me. Does this mean that I can t work with others? Absolutely not! It falls back on the entire idea that, I just rather keep to myself then deal with others. • 24. The Use Of Aestivation And Vertebrate Animals Introduction Aestivation is derived from Latin: aestas, summer, but also spelled aestivation in American English is a state of animal dormancy, similar to hibernation, characterized by inactivity and a lowered metabolic rate that is entered in response to high temperatures and arid conditions. It takes place during times of heat and dryness, the hot dry season, which are often the summer months. [1] Mechanism of Aestivation Invertebrate and vertebrate animals are known to enter this state to avoid damage from high temperatures and the risk of desiccation. Both terrestrial and aquatic animals undergo aestivation. Organisms that aestivate appear to be in a fairly light state of dormancy, as their physiological state can be rapidly reversed, and the organism can quickly return to a normal state. A study done on Otala lactea, a snail native to parts of Europe and Northern Africa shows that they can wake from their dormant state within ten minutes of being introduced to a wetter environment. Fossil records show that the act of aestivating may be several hundred million years old. The primary physiological and biochemical concerns for an aestivating animal are to conserve energy, retain water in the body, ration the use of stored energy, handle the nitrogenous end products, and stabilize bodily organs, cells, and macromolecules. This can be quite a task as hot temperatures and arid conditions may last for months. The depression of metabolic rate during aestivation causes a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

How To Modernise Othello Good morning ladies and gentlemen, and I hope you re as excited as I am to be here, to discuss with you my new film pitch, a modern adaptation of one of Shakespeare s most loved classics, Othello. Despite being written to pander to the lowest common demoniter in Elizabethan times, Shakespeare, in our society, seems to be reserved for scholars and the well educated, with its use of language lowering it s accessibilty and providing us with a barrier to enjoyment , making it relatively obsolete in our times. Modernising Othello provides an opportunity to transform the play into an understandable and relevant story, whilst preserving the themes, values and attitudes portrayed in the original, however, manipulating them to resonate with a modern ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Entitled The Treachery of Images , the film makes reference to Magritte s infamous pipe painting, reminding us that we should not necessarily believe in what we see and think, as deception lies in every nook and cranny in our lives, meaning that nothing can truly be trusted. This is a modern and novel nod to Othello, as the play itself is an adept exploration of the faces of good and evil, proving the end point that nothing, and no one, are truly what they seem. My vision re casts Othello as Oliver, a 20th century English Duke, who, despite his constant questioning of the church and it s values, is appointed as mayor of a small village, leaving the metropolitan haven of the city, and into a place where he is neither trusted nor accepted. With him come his faithful and sweet wife, Dorothea, who married him against her heavily religious fathers wishes, and his two sons, Ichabod and Charles. Whilst Oliver trusts, and supposedly favours, Ichabod, Charles is far more successful than his brother, meaning he is named sole heir of the families wealth and estate. For fair natured and trustworthy Ichabod, this would be a choice that he would support wholly, however, a changling has taken his place, a curse put upon him by the God that he questions so freely. Under the pretense of being Ichabod, the changeling begins to wreak havoc, coaxing Oliver into pyschosis and convincing him that there is something Oedipal occuring between Charles and Dorothea, and eventually causing Oliver to murder ... Projections including Mercator, the Peters, the Robinson, and the Goode s, all have their strong points however each projection doesn t work to perfect one particular area of maps. For example, instead of working to perfect navigation, projections may sacrifice the accuracy of navigation to achieve overall accuracy on maps. The McDonald s Corporation is the world s largest chain of fast food restaurants that serves around 68 million customers daily. This means that more than half a billion people walk into McDonald s everyday to eat their meal of the day. Whether people notice it or not, the American Diet has irrevocably changed. The Paleolithic diet consisted of foods such as meat, nuts and berries. All foods of that time were unprocessed and organic as ever. Today, however, the American diet adopts the exact opposite foods than those of the Paleolithic diet. Every meal served at a fast food restaurant is processed and unhealthy to the point of killing. And it isn t only the cooking process that makes these foods unhealthy but also the canned manufacturing process that takes place before the food even reaches the restaurant. • 44. Write An Argumentative Essay On Bulldogs Humans and dogs have shared what can be called a sacred bond. Throughout history, one can see many leaders have had dogs by their side. The English bulldog has grown in popularity over the years, which has encouraged people to buy an English bulldog before even researching about them. In order to become a good owner, one must be aware of the medical costs, price for the dog itself, and how to properly care for the dog. While one may think it is easy to own a bulldog, the breed is known to have major health conditions. Many bulldogs are known to have shorter lifespans compared to other dog breeds. A large majority of bulldogs require a soft palate surgery in order to even breathe properly. Elongated soft palates narrows the airways in bulldogs, causing increased airway resistance. This, in the worse case, can lead to heart failure or even death. Bulldogs also tend to have problems with bones and joins. Chondrodysplasia, a structural defect found in bulldogs, causes the legs in bulldogs to stop or slow down and also makes their backs lengthen. One health... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When buying a bulldog, one has two options. One can buy a bulldog that has tons of medical issues at a cheaper price, or one can buy a more expensive bulldog that has fewer medical issues. The better the breeder, the more expensive the dog. On top of that, the owner has to buy special insurance for a bulldog because of all its health issues. They also have special diets and specific food allergies, which means that the owner has to buy special bulldog food to fit their needs. • 45. Essay about The Hanger Games by Suzanne Collins There are various examples of people throughout history who had the upper hand over others and have abused the power they had to make a negative impact or control other people s lives. Power being defined as the capacity or ability to direct or influence the behaviour of others or the course of events and abuse, meaning the use of something to badly effect or for a bad purpose . Suzanne Collinsexemplifies power and abuse in various ways throughout her novel, The Hunger Games . This intense novel is set in a time period after a rebellion in North America left the country destroyed, divided into 12 districts and being controlled by the Capitol. Katniss Everdeen is the main protagonist and is from the povertystricken district 12,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This action causes resentment among the districts as described in the novel when it is explained why Gale, Katniss friend, is not fond of Madge who is the mayors daughter You can see why someone like Madge, who has never been at risk of needing a tessera, can set him off. The chance of her name being drawn is very slim compare to those of us who live in the Seam. Not impossible, but slim. And even though the rules were set up by the Capitol, not the districts, certainly not Madge s family, it s hard not to resent those who don t have to sign up for the tesserae (The Hunger Gams Ch.1 pg. ) This further shows how because people like Katniss are poverty stricken they begrudgingly will risk their lives and enter their name into the bowl more times than needed, just for food. There are many symbols throughout the novel that show rebellion against the Capitol, the main one being the mocking jay pin that Katniss wore throughout the games. The pin she received was a gift from Madge, to be worn as the token from district 12. The bird itself however was a sign of rebellion and resilience long before Katniss wore it, the bird mocking jay being described as something of a slap in the face to the Capitol (Pg 5 ) as the birds were a mutation that ended up blindsiding the capitol during the rebellion years ago. • 46. Another City Short Story More Than Los Angeles In the novel Another City many of the authors have their own opinions of how Los Angeles is or how it shapes them as a person. Other stories are very short and tell stories of how Los Angeles isn t as great a place even though we may have people fooled to think so. In the short story Interesting Times the author Judith Lewis tells us about how she adjusted to living in Los Angeles and how she views the city before and after lives there. Whether she felt she didn t belong, people were too distracted with their own lives, or people were united by tragic events, Los Angeles became her home and a place she lived in interesting times. These themes come up often in the story and are the base of how Lewis feels about Los Angeles as she settles in to the new city. Lewis starts the story talking about how she lives in Hollywood and is surrounded by famous actors, actresses, and the Bat Caves of Griffith Park which are called that not for the amount of bats that are there but because it was the sight of the Adam West s tv show Batman s batcave. She talks about how she walks through the caves so often that people have mistaken her for famous actresses in the past. When she would go for walks for a long time a woman named Carol was so distracted by her life she would call the author Jessica. Confusing her for Jessica Harper, a famous actress. Lewis didn t grow up in Los Angeles, coming from Minnesota for work she was reluctant to come and probably never expected her life would be quite like this, walking through Hollywood being confused for someone famous which she isn t. She talks about how she feels the life of Los Angeles isn t for her but over time she identifies with the people in her area. She didn t originally belong there but goes on to say, I have grown into this scene; absorbed its perverse aesthetic by osmosis, along with its polluted air, impossible beauty standards, and bad driving habits. Cell phone caught between shoulder and chin I drive wildly in the passing lane, dashing to appointments, always late, huffing about traffic as I breeze through the door. Critical Analysis of Edwin Arlington Robsin Her Kisses Were the Keys to Paradise Kaitlyn Cornell In Edwin Arlington Robinson s poetry, haunted houses sound like hanunted houses, dark hills sound like dark hills, but to Robinson it goes beyond that. By the metaphors, images, and emotion he puts into his writing, it is clear that he is feeling something beyond the paper and ink. Many of his works are dark and melancholy and reflect something that may have happened in his own life. There is a reoccuring theme that symbolizes his wife or significant other walking out on him. Other poems reflect his feelings about that situation. Robinson shares with his readers the anguish and recovery of the woman leaving him. .Perhaps Robinson s most famous poem, Richard Cory , tells the story of a ... He mentions Faithful or not, he loved her all the same which acknowledges that she has a flaw, but he still is in awe around her. Also, he mentions her eyes once again which relates to Her Eyes . Robinson uses this poem to reflect on that lonely night she fled and expresses just how much he cares for her even after she left. Similarly, Another Dark Lady uses Robinson as the speaker and he again says that she fled . He says I cannot hate you, for I loved you then which ties his feelings back to The Story of the Ashes and the Flame . Robinson expresses that she is still beautiful even after what she has done to him and he still loves her when she is gone. In The House on the Hill Robinson portrays his relationship with his wife through a house. The House is shut and still, there is nothing more to say creates an image of an old boarded up house which symbolizes their relationship. • 48. The Foreclosure Of The Last Couple Years Foreclosure in the last couple years has become a well known word to a lot of young people, and has become more frequent in the last couple of years. My family has gone through the process and it was a very emotional time for us all. The only home my family was able to get into was one that could be rented with the option to buy. Having more homes in the market that have that option makes it not only more convenient, but more affordable for families like mine who have gone through foreclosure. Giving possible tenants the option to rent towards owing is a great way to get the housing market back on track. People who are struggling financially cannot afford to just buy a home. Allowing people the option to rent towards buying, takes some of the stress off the tenants and allows longer time to come up with the money, which means less people getting evicted or foreclosed on. The less people that are foreclosed on, the better the market for homes will be. Currently the market is great for anyone who is financially stable to purchase any home that has a foreclosure sign out front. If the option rent to own was made more available the people looking for homes, then it would allow them to save more money until they were financially stable to either buy the home, or move to another affordable location. The owners who do offer the rent to own option are not only allowing the tenants time to come to a more stable financial state, but are making money themselves. If the ... Holbein exhibits some expert precision and a talented eye in his work. When examining The Ambassadors the viewer can truly understand the whole of the artwork and place the unique portion of it under a revealing spotlight. In The Ambassadors, Holbein tries to portray two noble looking men and their workplace in a time period dating around the 17th or 18th century. Each man is placed on one side of the paintingwith a work desk between them filled with instruments of the age. A long dark curtain stretches behind them and offers a reflective glow of the light source. The scene is slightly shaded, yet colorful, as one man is dressed... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The shelf between them adds interest with the now outdated and unusual instruments, but the whole of the work doesn t portray any real sense of importance other than historical record. On the contrary, the realistic detail of the piece is amazing and well communicated through Holbein s excellent use of light and shadow, as well is accuracy of form. The light source is centered behind the artist and shinning directly onto the men and desk, illuminating their figures. Both man and desk cast a simple shadow to aid the concept of full illumination, but the textures of the clothing, curtain, instruments, and other items are expertly portrayed in the artist s use of small harsh shadowing and his blend of shading. The large, contrasted, elegant portrayal of the left man s clothing creates emphasis that repeatedly drags the audience s eye back to this area. Such a vast use of pattern and color, on the other hand, make any other emphasis less detectable and almost allow the oddly placed blur on the bottom to escape attention. Eventually, its lack of balance and seemingly disproportionate look snatch its deserved attention and force the viewer to get creative in recognizing a figure. This is when the side view of the skull can be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It is applied from top to bottom layer then bottom to top, this completes one iteration. Assign artificial positions to first layer and calculate barry center weights of nodes at second layer. Reorder the nodes at second layer in ascending order of their barycenter weights. The above equation is for top down sweeps of the layered graph. Similarly use Successors of v in bottom up sweeps in the above equation. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A topological traversal of subgraph ordering graph gives ordering О±o denoting which subgraph is left of other subgraph. 5.POSITIONING The edge crossings are reduced and nodes are placed according to their subgraphs at each layer. Now we need to calculate absolute positions for graph nodes such that there will be enough space to draw subgraph boundaries. To draw subgraph vertical boundaries straight we add trail of dummy vertical nodes one to the left and one to the right side of each layer in every subgraph. The goal is to position the long edges as straight as possible and vertical borders of subgraph strictly vertical without reordering the nodes at any layer. We present a heuristicapproach based on Brandes[] approach. The nodes have different height and width. There should be no overlap between any two nodes and node and subgraph boundary. The process consists of three steps. The first and second steps are carried out four times. The first algorithm referred as vertical alignment, to align nodes with its either median upper or median lower neighbor node. This will give maximum possible straight long edges positions in upward and downward direction. The alignment conflicts are resolved with leftmost and rightmost direction. Combination of the directions creates four alignments namely Upward Left, Upward Right, Downward Left and Downward Right. In second step each alignment is given absolute positions according to four alignments. In last step these alignments ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A genocide is the systematic extermination of an entire social, racial, or political group or nation, specifically those of a particular ethnicity. While the genocide in Cambodia is not as widely recognized as that of Rwanda or the Holocaust, millions of Cambodian citizens were murdered between the years of 1975 and 1979 under the control of the Khmer Rouge. The government depopulated cities and forcibly relocated citizens to collective farms known as Killing Fields because of the unspeakable amount of deaths of all ages that occurred there. Approximately 14,000 lives were taken in these fields due to the stringent rules placed upon the citizens. The Khmer Rouge advocated for social equality and transformed Cambodiainto a pre industrialized nation centered around agriculture. The loss of millions of lives led to significant demographic changes, ranging from an increase in the amount of elderly, homeless citizens, and to a decrease in ethnic diversity across the nation. The dictatorship simultaneously lessened the culture and identity of coming generations due to the execution of artists and musicians who brought forth important aspects of tradition.
