Receptors are molecules that undergo changes in shape when binding to a ligand, altering the function of biological systems. There are different types of receptors, including cell membrane receptors such as serpentine receptors (GPCRs) that couple to G proteins like Gs, Gi, Gq and Go, and receptors coupled to ion channels or enzymes.
