Persuasive Essay Mla Format
Crafting a persuasive essay in MLA format can be a challenging endeavor that requires careful
attention to detail and adherence to specific guidelines. The Modern Language Association
(MLA) format comes with its own set of rules regarding citation, formatting, and overall
structure, adding an extra layer of complexity to the writing process.
To begin with, one must thoroughly understand the topic at hand and develop a compelling
thesis statement. This demands extensive research to gather relevant information and supporting
evidence, which must be cited appropriately in accordance with MLA guidelines. The citation
process involves meticulous attention to detail, including the author's name, publication date, and
page numbers.
The structure of the essay is another aspect that poses a challenge. Following the introduction,
body paragraphs should present clear arguments supported by evidence, all while maintaining a
coherent flow. Transitioning smoothly between ideas and paragraphs is crucial to keep the reader
engaged and convinced by the presented arguments.
Additionally, mastering the art of persuasion is essential. The language used must be compelling
and tailored to the audience, incorporating rhetorical devices to enhance the persuasive impact.
Striking the right balance between ethos, pathos, and logos requires a nuanced understanding of
rhetorical strategies.
Moreover, the revision process is crucial in achieving a polished and effective essay. Careful
proofreading is necessary to catch grammatical errors, typos, and ensure that the formatting
adheres strictly to MLA guidelines. The meticulous nature of these requirements can make the
writing and revising process time-consuming and mentally taxing.
In conclusion, navigating the intricacies of crafting a persuasive essay in MLA format involves a
combination of research, attention to detail, and effective persuasive techniques. However, for
those seeking assistance, it's worth noting that various resources, including professional writing
services, can provide valuable support in alleviating the challenges associated with this task.

Vladek Spiegelman
It is human nature to go through difficulties, they shape who we are as people for
good or for bad. It is not the challenges that shape who we are as people, but how
we react and the lesson we take away from our misfortunes. In the story of Maus 1
and 2, we can analyze Vladek Spiegelman and see how his struggles have given us
immense knowledge about humanity, and some of the flaws. In the stories of Maus1
and 2, Art Spiegelmanuses Vladek s dialogue to show that humanity will judge and
deprecate no matter what.
The background story of Vladek is that he is a holocaust survivor who traveled from
camp to camp during the war while he was constantly losing family, but gaining
knowledge and picking up habits he would carry on for the rest of his ... Show more

Mala and Vladek rarely can cooperate with each other and are constantly fighting
with each other. Whether it is a miniscule detail or a bigger topic they are always
finding a reason to bicker. For instance, while Vladek was over Mala had made
them sandwiches for lunch, and instead of being thankful like he should have been
Vladek criticized and brought Mala down. The dialogue used to express this
situation was Vladek stating Mala could go for a whole evening out with her
friends and leave for me nothing cooked to eat or drink then following with Sigh.
You see how it is? I have now one more time an unnecessary suffering in my life .
From this we can draw that he is agitated that Mala does not care for his every need
like a maid. Vladek was dragging Mala down for leaving without making food only
sometimes and being selfish. Instead of helping himself he has to add on saying an
unnecessary suffering in my life which is expressing what his needs are is more
important than Mala, who he is
The Confrontation Between Japan And The United States
This confrontation between Japan and the United States impacted the battles to come
in the Pacific. History has proven the island of Midway to be an important base for
many operations during World War II. Had the United States lost this battle, the war
may have reached a different outcome.
The Battle of Midway proved to be a crucial point for the United States in
preventing the Japanese from taking control of the Pacific region during World War
II. If Midway had fallen into the hands of the Japanese, America could have been at
risk. This was the battle that could have saved or destroyed the United States a battle
in which the lives of American citizens hung in the balance. (Cox 658 659)

Overtaking the island of Midway would have enabled Japan to have a base close
enough to launch an attack directly against the United States.
On May 10, 1942, the United States intercepted and broke a code to the Japanese.
This code was a signal for the Japanese to invade and take control over the island.
When the U.S. finished deciphering the code, immediate action was taken. The
attack on Midway was planned to begin on June 4, 1942. The U.S. sent out over 66
ships, including carriers, destroyers and submarines. In sending naval power to
Midway less than a month earlier, the United States planned to ambush the
Japanese. (Prados) A 1998 abstract review for military training by Paul J. Jaeger
reflects to the importance of the application of operational intelligence as a function
of operational art and how the Planning and execution for the Midway operation
required fusion of strategic operational and tactical intelligence by the commanders
involved; most notably Admiral Chester Nimitz (Jaeger, pg 22). The strategy
employed was to act immediately and tactically to the intelligence the commanders
received from the code breakers. David J. Jerabek also analyzes Admiral Nimitz
strategic leader competencies and evaluates his contributions in achieving a total
victory in the Pacific for the Allied powers (Jerabek)
The United States location on Midway Island was an imperative strategic
The Federal Reserve
There are many thoughts about the Federal Reserve, some people think it is the
biggest thief ever and some other people think that the Illuminati is running the
show. Also some people know that the Federal Reserve has saved the economy of
the United States a couple of times from depressions. Moreover, economists think
that the Federal Reserve saved the U.S. from the most recent depression in 2008.
Many people in the U.S. may not know who Alexander Hamilton is; however, any
economist or anybody who is studying economy should know who he was.
Alexander Hamilton played a big role in the economy of the United States in 1791,
when he started promoting a movement to embrace a central bank. In that same year

The Federal Reserve exists because Congress approved and created it, but is does
not enact policy measures with any Congressional or Presidential approval.
Politically, this makes it quite independent (Roche). With this been said and since
the majority of conspiracies sometimes have wrong facts, their fact about the
Federal Reserve not being managed by the federal government is correct.
Additionally, when America s economy was melting in 2008, the Federal Reserve
played a big role to stabilize it. Besides the Great Depression during the years 1929
through 1939 the worst economic time for the United States, 2008 was
unmistakable one of the worst years of America s economy history. When this
economic recession was taking place, the Fed had to take action to avoid another
depression and to stop a fall from the financial system. With the help of the Federal
Reserve J.P. Morgan Chase and Co. s they planned to help Bear Stearns (an
investment bank) with financial assistance to help the government to buyout AIG, a
well known insurance company. This helped to produce a strategy targeting to
stabilize the credit market and also the short term interest rate from 45% to almost 0
from the benchmark (Coste). Thanks to the Federal Reserve and their well design
plan to avoid another recession they prevented the economy of the world or better
known as Macroeconomic system from falling and getting it

to fit their cultural and basic needs. In this paper I will discuss shelter structure and
cultural construction of a tipi using information from Gerald A. Oetelaar article.
These hunter and gathers have created a shelter that fits their basic needs of living.

Pros and cons of training modalities remain apparent regardless of preference;
whether one favours safety due to injuries, or heavy weight to increase the amount
of skeletal muscle mass. This meta analysis seeks to compare and relate the
differences between the two, by comparing results of 1RMs and 3RMs across three
separate studies. Each study typically identified a separate facet, from the levels of
muscle activation during a press, to the correlations between machine exercise and the
free weight counterparts. Although, not all sourced information remained relevant,

with a recovery time of at least 48 72 hours for recovery. Researchers observed
significant disparities between the 1RMs. Exercises performed on the machines

machine counterpart would cause a higher 1RM as it has a reduced need for core
activation and stabiliser recruitment, which could in turn allow a greater production
of force being applied to the linear path of the machine. Discrepancies in the range of
motion and movement patterns were also noted, because although the muscle being
activated may be the same, the neurological stimulation may

tales during their journey to a holy shrine in Canterbury. The host constructs a

Criminal Prosecution And The Judicial Process
Criminal prosecution develops through various stages in the judicial process
beginning with the arrest of an individual and ending at a point before, during, or
after a trial. The criminal procedure is based on the constitutional laws, statues, and
court rulings that are meant to render justice in a criminal case. The government must
follow these procedures during the entirety of a criminal case. Beginning with the
initial investigation of an individual suspected of a crime, through the arrest, jailing,
arraignment, and thereafter. Although they must act within the boundaries of the
law and protect an individual s right to the 4th amendment of the constitution,
police officers are allowed to conduct investigations, perform search and seizures,
and arrest individuals that are suspected of a crime. Police officers do not need
justification to stop someone and question them, but in order to search an
individual a police officer must have probable cause. In order to make an arrest,
the officer must either observe an individual committing a crime, have probable
cause that a crime has been committed by that person, or have a valid arrest
warrant. There is no scale to measure what probable cause is, so at the time of
arrest, this is completely at the officer s discretion. This can cause officers to subdue
the wrong individuals or make faulty decisions. Judges have the final say on what
constitutes probable cause, and police officers must be able to ultimately justify their

I couldn t forgive him or like him, but I saw that what he had done was, to him,
entirely justified. It was all very careless and confused. They were careless people,
Tom and Daisy they smashed up things and creatures and the retreated back into
their money or their vast carelessness, or whatever it was the kept them together, and
let other people clean up the mess they had made (Fitzgerald 180 181). In the novel
The Great Gatsbyby F. Scott Fitzgerald, the characters Daisy and Tom demonstrate
the theme of carelessness. Tom and Daisy show carelessness through being foolish

You forget there s a lady present, said Jordan. Daisy looked around doubtfully You

What a low, vulgar girl!
I don t care! cried Daisy, and began to clog on the brick fireplace. (Fitzgerald 116) It
is evident that Daisy s words I don t care show that she is inconsiderate of other
peoples feelings. She rudely shows her affection for Gatsby in public without
considering the fact that Nick and Myrtle are present. In addition to being
inconsiderate of Nick and Jordan, Daisy is inconsiderate to Tom as well. She
looked at him [Tom] blindly. Why how could I love him possibly? (Fitzgerald 132)
It is extremely inconsiderate to be telling Tom the man to whom she is married that
she never loved him. Therefore, even though Tom showed carelessness through
being inconsiderate of Daisy, Daisy was the more careless one because she was
inconsiderate of more people as a result of her behaviour. These people include Nick,
Jordan, and Tom.
Finally, both Tom and Daisy show carelessness through being foolish. Tom Buchanan
exhibits foolishness by physically harming Daisy. We all looked. The knuckle was

Essay on The Benefits of Hydrogen Cars
The Advantages of Hydrogen Cars
As you know, gas prices are going up. Nobody likes paying more money for gas and
yet nobody is willing to do anything about it. Now that we are at war with the
Middle East (the main gasoline providers) the gas prices are going to keep going up.
Some people (like foreign ambassadors) say that trade with the Middle East is good
for there economy, but I for one don t like being dependant on foreign oil. That is
where hydrogen fuel cells come into the picture. Rather than depending on a foreign
countries oil, to provide fuel, businesses today should look to hydrogen as an
alternative fuel source.
The United States is too dependent on foreign oil. If something were to happen, like
another war with the Middle ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Then there is the fact that everybody would have to buy new cars in order for the
process to work, most people do not have the money, but the government could
always do some kind of fund to get the money for the people to buy the cars.
Mechanics would have to go back to school to learn how to work on the new cars,
or they could put a small training course out and give it to the mechanics. Finally,
the last major problem with hydrogen is the fact that it is more flammable then
gasoline, this is only true if the gas is not contained properly. When you think of
hydrogen, you think of the blimp the Hindenburg, which was a hydrogen filled
blimp, and then it explodes because the gas was not contained properly. I think that
all these problems can be fixed. Cars powered by hydrogen get better gas mileage.
They can go double the distance or even triple the distance of the car with the best
gas mileage on the market. The cars can t go as fast as cars can today, but they can
get very close. Toyota is the biggest supporter of hydrogen powered vehicles. They
already have working hydrogen cars in other countries on the road. They have
many prototypes ready and waiting for the US. Some people (like President Bush)
like the idea for hydrogen powered vehicles. He put in $3 billion after 9/11 towards
hydrogen powered vehicles. With the president and most

The Doctor, Starring William Hurt And Elizabeth Perkins
Feeling helpless and alone on a cold, rigid hospital bed, patients often look to their
physician to provide them with solace and comfort, however, some unfortunate
patients are faced with what the New York Times (2005) calls the bane of the medical
profession: the difficult doctor. These physicians patronize their patients and speak to
them condescendingly during their time of tribulation, and it has deep and intense
repercussions for them. Not only is this incredibly unprofessional but it is not
something a patient wants to hear when disclosing personal, intimate details of their
life. Patient care and consideration does not stop when the surgery or procedure is
over. The handling of an individual s emotional state, post operation is just as
important as the operation itself in the overall recovery of the patient. Patients leave
angry, humiliated, and with more insecurities than they came in with. The analysis of
the 1991 film The Doctor, starring William Hurt and Elizabeth Perkins, will consider
appropriate health communication techniques that resonate well with patients. The
film s protagonist, Dr. Jack McKee, does not use suitable techniques that his patients
appreciate. The first and second body paragraphs will investigate respectable
socialization and strong patient caregiver bonds and how they are pivotal to
achieving solid results with patients. The third and final body paragraphs will
examine what changes Dr. McKee makes to his practice that better reflect the
Firefighter Research Paper
The alarm sounds. Fire fighters scramble into coats, and helmets, and boots. Fire
trucks roar into the street loaded with fire fighters and their equipment. Every
minute counts. Lives and property could be at stake. A fireman has to be of great
physical and mental stature, they are minutemen and have to be ready at all times.
No one can dispute that a firefighter should be a well educated and well prepared
individual. Because of the rigorous and dangerous caliber involved in the fire
academy, an applicant should be well prepared, by obtaining a college degree. For
example, a college degree is essential for what one needs to have a successful career
in firefighting. College provides a base for a stable mental state and helps the mind

To become a fireman, it is now required, in the state of Florida to complete an
almost year long course on Emergency Medical Technician training. The course
requirements include CPR certification and at least a couple hundred hours of
work at a hospital. EMT is a basic course in medical training. This course is a good
tool for what a firefighter can expect in the future on a fire truck. Typically, fire
trucks are the first of the emergency team to arrive at a scene. If firefighters are the
first to arrive, they should be expected to know everything possible. If they arrive
at a car accident and the paramedics are not available for a few minutes, a fireman
can act as a paramedic until help arrives. Although EMT is a single course, a class
such as biology can aid in the study of the human body. Not only will it help with
passing the EMT course, it will enrich one s knowledge about the human body. Just
as biology helps with completing the EMT course, physics and chemistry also
reinforce the process. Completion of a fire science course and a hazardous
materials course are needed for the fire academy. While in college, one can take
physics or chemistry. Physics can help with the study of how buildings are made
and what makes a weak building collapse. Structural fires are every firefighter s
worst nightmare. A building can collapse within seconds. If an individual knows
what structures are unsafe or unstable, it can assist in knowing whether to enter the
building or not. Also, while inside the building, one can determine what the best
route to take is while carrying someone through the building based on how the
structure looks. Chemistry also plays a crucial role in how fire lives. In today s
society, according to Joy Masoff, one of the toughest problems facing firefighters is
massive chemical fires that release deadly poisons into the air (43). Chemistry studies
A Lesson Before Dying Film Analysis
The University of Tennessee produced A Lesson before Dying by Romulus Linney
in the Carousel Theatre, March 2016. This play was based off of Ernest J. Gaines
novel, which follows a teacher in rural Louisiana as he tries to teach a young,
black man, on death row, what it means to be a man. We are set up in a post World
War II pre civil rights movement time, specifically 1948 where Jim Crow Law
shapes the world of the characters in the show. The Carousel s performance
masterfully emphasized the major theme of A Lesson Before Dying, racism in
society, through various aspects of production. To begin, while this show is set in
1948, the message it delivers is, sadly, still prevalent in today s society. Linney took
the message that Gaines wrote... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Rather than producing an exciting spectacle the director, and designers let the
script and the actors do the heavy lifting of the story. This was a very effective
tactic that guided the audience s attention to the important part of the show, the
message. For example, the set and props of the show were minimal. The back drop
of the show was a grey wall that was stationary for the majority of the show. When a
scene change was necessary, it was accomplished by a combination of furniture and
lighting. There was never much to look at other than what the actors on stage, which
allows for the focus to be on the words and actions that are taking place rather than
the environment that the scenic designer had created. Another aspect of the
production that helped to successfully yet discretely accomplish what Linney was
trying to acknowledge was the lighting. As mentioned before lighting was essential to
the scene changes throughout the production. Besides the placement of a desk and
chairs, there was a light that illuminated the American flag when the actors were in
the school. Likewise when the actors were in the Rainbow Club there was a light on
a dark sign upstage right. This is another instance where subtlety of a technical aspect
of the production allowed for the focus to be solely on the story rather than the
spectacle of the play. Thus, helping to successfully accomplish what Linney had set

Newton s Second Law And The Relationship
Purpose:
The purpose of this Lab was to investigate Newton s second law and the
relationships between: Force and Acceleration, and Mass and Acceleration. Newton s
Second Law states that any object that experiences a net or unbalanced force will
undergo acceleration. Newton s second law of motion describes the relationship
between force and acceleration. If you increase the force applied to an object, the
acceleration of that object increases by the same factor. For Mass and Acceleration
the net force on an object is equal to the mass of the object multiplied by the
acceleration of the object.

The Negative Effects Of Marine Plastic Pollution
Marine Plastic Pollution
This essay will examine the effects of plastic pollution on international, national, state
and local levels in the marine ecosystem, the impacts on the health of marine animals
and humans, the legislation and management strategies put in place to counteract the
negative impacts of the issue and its origins including the evaluation of the
effectiveness of these measures and the conflicting perspectives of the stakeholders
involved such as, intergovernmental, governmental, corporations, environmental and
community groups.
Early 1950 s marked the introduction of the plastic industry and has in the last 67
years become a useful and versatile material with a wide range of applications, due
to its durability, lightweight and low cost. Plastic comes in many different variations
such as Nylon, Acrylic, PVC, Polythene, Polypropylene, Polycarbonate and much
more. These are created using a combination of cellulose, coal, natural gas, salt and
crude oil forming chains of like molecules linked together named polymers (Le
Guern, 2009). In many cases plastics are disposed of after one use, especially
packaging, water bottles, plastic bags, straws and cutlery, however, these same
attributes that make plastics such a versatile material also pose a threat to ecosystems
due to their durability and persistence in terrestrial, aquatic, and marine environments
adversely affecting wildlife, wildlife habitat and humans globally (Plastic Waste:

Narni The Lion, The Witch, And The Wardrobe
Like most movies based on novels, there are some major differences between the
written and the theatrical versions of The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch,
and the Wardrobe.
There are also many similarities, or else it wouldn t be The Chronicles of Narnia.
The similarities and differences can be due to artistic differences for instance how
one person interprets something may not be how another interprets it, budget
reasonings, or it may just simply have to do with a time line of the filming. Seeing
as a majority of films are not made by the author of the book, it can be extremely
hard for a director and movie writer to completely capture the book on film. Another
thing that could make it hard to transcribe the book to film is ... Show more content

The books have Christian themes and describe the adventures of a group of
children who visit a magical land called Narnia. The Lion, the Witch, and the
Wardrobe was the first published and the most popular book of the series. Lewis is
said to have stated that he wrote the novels when he wondered what it would be like
if Jesus Christ was incarnated on another planet or world to save the souls of those
inhabitants . While many websites offer different reasons to why C.S Lewis wrote, or
may have written, The Chronicles of Narnia they way he did For years there has
been mass controversy over C.S Lewis s book The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion,
the Witch, and the Wardrobe. Not only over if the book is a Christian allegory or
not, but also over how well the movie captures the book. The book has a very
powerful and meaningful message, from the four Pevensie children s triumph over
an evil force, the White Witch, to restore peace in Narnia, to all of the adventures in
between, but just how well does the movie capture the book (Bell 12)? Despite
having many differences the film remains faithful in capturing the novel and putting
on film. While one may not get everything from the movie as from the book, the
majority of it is there. So for die hard fans of the book there is no need for
disappointment. All the main parts of the book are there, the characters, the plot, the

To examine how the socio-economic status of the Malays...
To examine how the socio economic status of the Malays corresponds to their
political marginalisation, we must first establish that they are indeed politically
marginalised. Political marginalisation can be taken to mean low political interest
and low political trust, indicating a feeling of distance to the political sphere of
society (Oskarson, 2010, p.7), and it is intrinsically linked to the theoretical concept
of political efficacy, that is, an individual s feelings of their own potential influence
on politics, as well as their faith and trust in the government. (Southwell, 1985, Craig,
1990). There are varying views of the political marginalisation of the Malays between
politicians and historians.

Hence we see that the government is of the opinion that their policies have helped
the Malays progress and that they are no longer marginalised. This runs completely
against Dr Mahathir Mohamad s comments in 2006, Why is it that the Malays in
Singapore are marginalised to the extent that they have no status at all? This is
done deliberately by Singapore. There is no other country that does it like them , as
well as in 2011, Singapore Malays are being marginalised until the end of the world
(Berita Harian, 20 January 2011).
There are two polarising opinions on the issue of Malay marginality, and it is
essential to delve into their political motivations in order to determine which is
more reliable. On the Singapore government s part, most of their comments were
made in reference to accusations by other organisations such as the AMP, likely in
self defence and in an attempt to draw the blame away from themselves. As such,
the government s claims of the Malays are not marginalised needs to be taken with a
pinch of salt. On the other hand, Dr Mahathir s accusation of Singapore deliberately
marginalising the Malays also cannot be taken too seriously, as it was in retaliation to
Lee Kuan Yews antagonistic comments. There may be some element of truth in
saying that the Malays are marginalised, but it remains to be seen if it was
Summary OfThe Assault By Harry Mulisch
In The Assault , the author, Harry Mulisch, depicts Anton Steenwijk as the
protagonist, who witnesses the violence at the night of the assault. In the subsequent
years, Anton distances himself from the truth of the assault due to his traumatic
experience, his incomplete knowledge towards the event, and his sorrowful
memories. The traumatic experience makes Anton reluctant to go back to Haarlem,
where the violent assault takes place. The assaultgives Anton a strike, and many times
in the story, he pledges never to go back to Haarlem. For example: He shouldn t have
come; he should never have returned to Haarlem. He should have buried all that, the
way one buries the dead (Mulisch 61). It can be inferred that deep in Anton s mind,
what happens at that night is the most horrible moment to him, and such
unforgettable memories remind him of never coming back. The parallel structure
here shows a complex mindset that Anton has when he hesitates to return to Haarlem.
The author uses consecutive should and shouldn t stresses this tone. The all that here
probably means all the tragic events happen in Haarlem, including both the assault
and deprivation of Anton s parents. Also, the author uses an analogy, that Anton
should forget all the things in Haarlem and never think about them again, because
it is a disgraceful memory of Anton, just like someone should bury the dead to wipe
away the mournful memories. Besides, Anton swears never to go back to Haarlem
even if a job offers him a hundred thousand gulden a year. (61) This shows Anton is
resolved not to go back to Haarlem. His reluctance to return is quite logical:
Haarlem is a place teeming with unjoyful memories, and a place where his house is
burnt, and his parents are lost. Who likes to return to a place where such sorrowful
recollection flows? It is the presence of his traumatic experience that haunts Anton
and holds him from going back and seeing the place again. In the aftermath of the
violent assault, Anton develops a psychological distance that makes him too
sorrowful to accept the truth. The sorrow of his can be seen when Anton meets his
former neighbor, Karin. As Once more the old bitterness welled up, the inexhaustible
bitterness. Was he meant to
The Napoleon Complex
The common perception that a typical person will have if you mention Napoleon
is the idea of a short, angry, and bossy little man who is aggressive to compensate
for being little, in other words having a Napoleon Complex . Ironically the idea
that Napoleon was a short man is false as he was average height for his size at the
time. A more useful way to look at a Napoleon complex would be to describe it as,
a person who is driven by a perceived handicap to overcompensate in other aspects,
in their lives. With this definition, we get what Napoleons mentality was through the
course of his life. Napoleon was born into nobility but had very little power at his
disposal, to put himself in a position of power he learned how to seemingly change
his identity and raise himself in the ranks of the French military. Once he put himself
in the most powerful position, in Francehe began to seek more power by conquering
other countries in war and making treaties with them or absorbing them into France
all together.. All this was made possible by his aggressive non stop military style
and charismatic ability. Napoleon was one of the most powerful dictators and
influential leaders in European history; he was able to accomplish feats that only the
great leader of Europehave been able to accomplish through is unrelenting ambition.
Napoleon Bonaparte was born on August 15, 1769 in the city of Ajaccio on the
island of Corsica, a conquered colony of France. It is a paradox to think that a

Understanding the relationships among world currencies is vital to successful
operations in a global economy. There is money to be made by managers who can
effectively manage exchange rates in the course of their business dealings. There is
money to be lost by managers who fail to recognize the significance of these rate

If the 3 month expected rate is accurate, I can return to the exchange in three
months with only 1.2 Canadian dollars and get my 1 U.S. dollar back. That leaves
me with 10 Canadian cents profit. It may not seem worthwhile to wait three months
to gain 10 cents profit. Consider however, if I had 1 million U.S. dollars to invest. I
could return in three months, make my trade and gain 100,000 Canadian dollars.
These rates also offer corporations opportunities for profit as they can order items
expecting to pay when the exchange rate has changed in their favor. Let s consider
an American company operating in France. The company s accounting statements
are kept in U.S. dollars. The company orders equipment from a French supplier that
is expected to cost 85,000 French francs. If the company pays for the equipment
now, the books will indicate a cost of 100,000 U.S. dollars. If the company waits for
the equipment to arrive and pays for the equipment in three months, the cost will be
over 106,000 U.S. dollars. This is known as hedging using the expected exchange rate
to increase profits or reduce losses by timing monetary exchanges.
Section II Systems and History
This sounds a little like guesswork and gambling, but there is more to it than what
appears on the surface. The exchange rates are set by government agencies in each
country. In the United States, most of us have become accustomed to waiting for
word from Alan Greenspan about changes in
Literature Review On Fuzzy Logic
CHAPTER 2
Literature Review
L.A. Zadeh, Fuzzy Sets [33] In 1965 the concept of fuzzy logic was first introduced
by the Professor Lotfi A. Zadeh in the University of California, Berkeley [33]. Fuzzy
logic is a powerful design system for implementing the artificial intelligence in the
controller which provides simple and intuitive method for software engineers to
implement logic in complex systems. This concept had been given in one amongst
his research papers under the name Fuzzy logic or Fuzzy sets.
George J. Kilr and Bo Yuan [32] Fuzzy logic is a way to formalize the human
decision capacity of imprecise reasoning, or approximate reasoning. Such type of
reasoning represents the human ability to find out the reason approximately and judge

patterns of health and illness in the UK
Over the course of the last 50 years in the UK the government (England, Wales,
Northern Ireland and Scotland) have made a great effort in order to improve the
overall health of the general population in the UK. This has been achieved through
the use of making the general population more aware of the dangers to their health
and what they are along with they can do in order to improve it, thereby making
better informed decisions in regards to their health when it comes to things such as
diet, road safety (driving), exercise, smoking and education.

However the government have not just been attempting to raise awareness about the
effects of drink driving but also putting in place stricter measures for offenders so
that people are deterred even more from driving whilst they are under the influence of
alcohol. At present the maximum penalty for being caught drinking and driving is a
ВЈ5000 fine, a ban on the individual s driving licence and 6 months imprisonment. If
the individual causes a road collision whilst they are under the influence of alcohol
and cause a fatality, they can be sentenced to a maximum of 14 years in prison.
Apart from the initiatives in place to prevent drinking and driving, there have been
other government initiatives used in order to stop people from using their phones
when they are driving, to wear their seatbelt whilst they are driving and to prevent
road rage by raising awareness.
In the 21st century obesity within the UK was starting to become a major concern,
after the issue of smoking had been dealt with. In order to get a handle on the
growing problem of obesity, the prime minister at the time released a new piece of
legislation otherwise known as Choosing Health: Making healthy choices easier .
This piece of legislation was designed with the
Drake s Passage Is The Worst Ocean On The World
The ocean that had chased them back and made them flee for the shelter of the ice
pack is the worst ocean on the globe. (82) Drake s Passage can be considered to be
the worst ocean on the globe (82) by many. This treacherous ocean is an 800
kilometer wide gap between South america s Cape Horn and South Shetland Island of
Antarctica. What makes Drakes passage considered to be the worst on the globe?
Sailing through this passage is incredibly dangerous because of its insane winds. On
the Beaufort scale is has known to have winds from category 10 123. Drakes passage
is extremely deep. The Average depth being 11,000 feet and the deepest trench going

drake realized that there is a another route for ships further south. Then the bottleneck
was named Drake Passage after him.

The Issue Of Pit Bulls
Dogs seem to be one of the most common and beloved pets in our society. Many
even consider their dog to be a family member. One thing that is especially great
about dogs is that there are many different breeds of dogs out there that have
different characteristics, and traits. Which gives people the option to choose the
type of dog that is right for them, but one breed in particular has been banned in
various places, and discriminated against that breed being pit bulls. Breed specific
legislation targets pit bulls based on misconceptions, appearance, and poor
knowledge about the breed. Breed Specific Legislation and discrimination in
general are not justifiable against pit bulls. Pit bulls have not always been viewed
as the vicious killer. For instance, in the 1970s the concern was over German
Shepherds, and in the 1980s, Doberman pinschers were considered as public and
government concern (Dana M). Which just goes to show that people get
concerned, but move on when they realize there is nothing to be concerned about.
Pit bulls were actually considered to be the family dog in the 1900s, and were
even nicknamed the nanny dogs for children because of the breed s friendly and
loyal nature (Holland). Pit bulls even appeared up in popular motion pictures such
as our gang and, buster brown (Bastian). In the 80s is where pit bulls started to get a
bad rap because of their association with dog fighting, gangs, and drug dealers
(Bastian). Which caused a change in

Choice And Agency In The Matrix Trilogy
As Dr. Mike Sosteric sagaciously suggests, the Matrix trilogy is a comprehensive
metaphor for modern capitalistic society (Sosteric, 2015). In the simplest
discernment, the Matrix trilogy reveals that the mass majority is either unaware of, or
indifferent to, the extent that they are controlled by the uppermost in society.
Furthermore, the concepts put forth in the Matrixtrilogy relate to a multitude of the
concepts introduced specifically in this unit, and the course in its entirety. These
concepts include, but are not limited to, agency, choice, power, propaganda,
resistance, mobilization, demobilization, ideology, and religion.
To begin with, regarding choice and agency, one part of the Matrix that resonates with

Choosing A Ear Doctor Near Me Essay
Title: Choosing a Ear Doctor Near Me
Description If you wonder how to choose a ear doctor near me then it is important
for you to have a basic understanding of the tips that you need to follow.
You might have to pay a visit to a ear doctor for different reasons. You might be
experiencing loss of hearing, ear pain, ear infections and sometimes dizziness. As
per recent surveys, hearing issues are quite common among the other medical
conditions that people suffer from these days. Therefore, it is essential for people to
take good care of this problem and avoid neglecting a ear issue that is persistent.
Consulting a ear doctor at the earliest is an important step that individuals need to
take. This helps them in ensuring that they follow the treatment schedule suggested
by the doctor diligently. Choosing a ear doctor near me with prudence and with
great care is very important. You will always want to get your ear treated by a doctor
who is well informed about his or her subject. There are a number of tips that you
need to follow prior to going ahead and finalizing a ear doctor. The tips are as follows:
Preparing a Complete List of Local Ear Doctors
The very first thing that you need to do is prepare a complete list of some good
and well known ear doctors in your locality. You can do this by collecting inputs
through acquaintances, friends, colleagues and relatives. You can even take
references from people you usually have a trust on as this will help you in getting

Vaccines And The Anti Vaccine Argument
As healthy as my lifestyle seemed, I contracted measles, mumps, rubella, a type of
viral meningitis, scarlatina, whooping cough, yearly tonsillitis, and chickenpox,
some of which are vaccine preventable (Parker 1). This quote by vaccine advocate
Amy Parker, a woman who was not vaccinated as a child, shows just a glimpse into
the life of an unvaccinated individual. Parents who do not vaccinate their children
claim many different reasons for their decision. Three of the most popular reasons
are: religious grounds, health problems as a result from vaccines, and the belief that
the illnesses are rare. Each of these reasons can be proven as nonessential in the anti
vaccineargument. First of all, religion has become a frequently used excuse.
Recently, a case arose in New York City when three families obtained vaccination
exemptions due to religious reasons (NYC Court 1). Because they chose to not
vaccinate their children, their children were not allowed to attend school during times
when another student had a vaccine preventable illness (NYC Court 1). Naturally,
this sparked an uproar among the parents, who then sued the city by claiming it was a
violation of their First Amendment right to religious freedom and their 14th
Amendment right to equal protection under the law (NYC Court 1). The dogma of
several mainstream religions references vaccines and whether or not they are
necessary. For example, the Catholic Church strongly supports vaccination, even
making it a moral and
Comparing and Contrasting Brecht and Stanislavski Essays
Bertolt Brecht and Constantin Stanislavski are regarded as two of the most
influential practitioners of the twentieth century, both with strong opinions and ideas
about the function of the theatre and the actors within it. Both theories are considered
useful and are used throughout the world as a means to achieve a good piece of theatre
. The fact that both are so well respected is probably the only obvious similarity as
their work is almost of complete opposites.
Stanislavski was born in 1863 to a wealthy family who loved amateur theatricals. In
1898 he met Vladimir Nemirovich Danchenko and they founded the Moscow Art
Theatre. Stanislavski s work is centred on the notion that acting should be a total

Brechts work is based on the concept that theatre is a means of political persuasion
for the masses. He sees the theatre as a tool to manipulate the audience, and to
influence their day to day living once that have thought about issues raised during the
performance.
Stanislavski was very sure of the role of his actors within the theatre. The actors are
there to create a real, emotional and truthful imitation of the character they are
playing, and to be so life like that they seem to become their character. He said that
the
Purpose of our art is to create the life of a human soul and render it in an artistic
form. (2)
Which is quite a clear illustration of the purpose or role of stanislavskian actors.
Stanislavski set out a way of preparing for a role so that the actor could fulfil his role
of pure imitation. He started off by asking the actor to explore the character. He
wanted to know what their objective was in each unit of action and what their super
objective was. The super objective was the sum of all the units and their objectives.
In a play the whole stream of individual minor objectives, all the imaginative
thoughts, feelings and actions of an actor, should converge to carry out the super
objective of the plot
Once actors can find some direction or purpose (objective or super objective) then it
is easier, according to Stanislavski, to immerse themselves in the character. He noted

between Upper West and Tamale, it covers about 4,577 kmВІ and lies between 9В°
11 and 10В° 10 N latitude, and 1В° 22 and 2В° 13 W longitude (MNP, 2011). It
was gazetted as a national a park in 1971 for its outstanding wildlife and also to
protect representative ecological habitats. Visitors usually see a range of species
including elephants, hartebeests, kobs, waterbucks, bushbucks, warthogs, roan
antelopes, duikers, buffalos, oribis, baboons, patas monkeys, vervet monkeys, red
throated bee eaters, Abyssinia ground horn bills, saddle billed storks, agama
lizards, crocodiles, bush snakes and other species (MNP, 2011). The average
annual rainfall of the Mole ecosystem is about 1100 mm. More than 90% of the
rain falls in the rainy season from April to October, with peaks in July and
September. The dry season lasts from November to March. The mean annual
temperature of 28В°C varies from 26В°C in December to 31В°C in March. The
average range from day to night is 13В°C. It can be unpleasantly hot in March and
April, with temperatures sometimes in the 40В°Cs. The Harmattan (a dry wind from
the Sahara) blows during December to February bringing dusty, hazy weather

The Pros And Cons Of Public Schools

Public schools are the way to go!
There are many types of ways kids acquire an education today; some of these happen
to be public and public schools. Some assume that private schools offer superior
everything, justifying their tuition costs (Great Schools Staff). In that case, people
automatically convey the false belief that private schools have a much better form of
education. In reality, education in a Public school is highly more advanced and
experienced than any particular Private school, because of their social involvements
being opened to try new things, accumulating more experience for a smaller cost, and
having no limitations nor boundaries that will minimize student s skills and
capabilities.
Public schools have been around for decades, and have formed one of our main
options to pursue an education in the 21st century. Researchers mentioned, We
analyzed instructors and performance for over 300,000 elementary and middle
school students in 15,108 public, charter, and private schools. What we found
surprised us (Valerie Strauss). The experience these public schools carry is real, from
having a variety of students who practice different types of religion, to having people
who have been raised differently. Experiences like these allow the students to get
comfortable with these types of environments.
The message trying to be delivered there is that one day eventually all kids will
end up in what is called The Real World , and kids that have been raised and have
been educated in an environment with limited boundaries like private schools,
might eventually be facing several obstacles. For example, obstacles like not being
familiar socializing well enough with others. That is probably one of the toughest
one in such way that growing up in private schools, an individual will always be
socially hanging out or making relations around the same kind of people. Not being
able to develop social relations with others just another reason why, students in public
schools actually outperform those in private schools (Valerie Strauss).
In various perspectives that s unscrupulous for students, a tremendous part of a
student s education is being able to

From the earliest known times when space was observed, cosmological

life continues to attract attention and is commonly a topic of media, leaving film

After a successful landing for the crew, the men held to each other s elbows,
suddenly unable to breathe, it seemed. Their faces grew pale. (Bradbury 33). The
men were filled with fear as to what they saw: Mars looked exactly like the old
town on Earth they all grew up in. This portrayal of setting develops the fear of the
unknown because it is the exact opposite of what Mars was believed to look like.
Bradbury goes on to set this expedition in context chronologically with the previous
two mission. Some of the men believed that Captain Williams and his crew of three
men! Or Nathaniel York and his partner. would be able to justify how they had
landed in an Earthly town, but Captain Black pointed out the York expedition was
only a year ago, while Captain Williams and his men landed here some time during
last August. and William and his men, as well as York, landed on the opposite side
of Mars. (34). The men were looking for a justification as to why Mars was so
Earthlike, but Bradbury brilliantly counters all points through explicitly detailing the
setting as one that could not overlap with the present. This exudes fear of the
unknown as there is no given solution as to what lies ahead of Captain Black and his
Management Needs Training On How An Effective

Problematic Issue Number 1: Management needs training on how to do an effective
performance review. Employee performance review is a key component to the
success of any organization. CanGo managers seem to have a misunderstanding on
how to effectively execute a performance review of their employees. Therefore it is
essential that CanGo management receive training to improve their performance
reviews. The lack of understanding on how to execute a performance review can
lead to potential performance review problems such as halo effect, leniency,
strictness, central tendency, bias, and unclear standards. Periodic performance
assessments provide specific metrics that pertain to the job roles and responsibilities
for each employee. By allowing the performance assessment process to be a joint
effort between an employee and its organization will allow employees to be
accountable for their standards of performance within the organization. The key to
achieving the most success from a performance assessment is to insure that it is
inclusive, as well as comprehensive. A periodic performance assessment needs to
cover daily duties, potential changes in responsibility and any foreshadowing
milestones that may occur between the current assessment and the next performance
assessment. Ideally each performance assessment will build on goals and
achievements. As well as inherently build an employee performance portfolio for the
life of the employees while working in the organization. A

Operation Safety Net Essay
Operation Safety Net is a local program for the city of Pittsburgh that strives to
better the lives of individuals who are homeless. As described on the program s
website, Operation Safety Net provides its consumers with necessary health care
and an increase of hope and self esteem (Operation Safety Net, 2015). This program
has proven to help close the critical health inequity of homeless individuals living
without healthcare. Healthy People 2020 define a health disparity as, a particular
type of health difference that is closely linked with social, economic, and/or
environmental disadvantage. (Disparities, para 6, 2015). This includes individuals
having access to safe housing, culturally aware health care professionals and the
opportunity to have health insurance. Therefore, there is a clear rationale for the
Operation Safety Net program to be assisting people in Pittsburgh experiencing these
inequities. Operation Safety Net is funded by the Pittsburgh Mercy Health System
through the Sisters of Mercy (Operation Safety Net, 2015). The Sisters of Mercy
have been in the United States and in Pittsburgh since 1843 serving the poor through
several social justice efforts. Also, Pittsburgh Mercy Health System funds several
large initiatives in Pittsburgh including Mercy Behavioral Health (About Us, 2015).
Based on the history and credibility Pittsburgh Mercy Health System has in this
region, it is viable that Operation Safety Net will be funded long term. Furthermore,

in taking their first step in globalizing their domestic organization into a multinational

The chain as a whole will surpass $1 billion in revenue this year. Five Guys
dominates in what people call the better burger category, which is hamburgers in
the $8 range, of fast casual restaurants. This targeted segment is worth $2.2 billion
and it grew 16% last year. Five Guys represents nearly half of the segment itself.
Five Guys Burgers and Fries is experiencing great success here in the United States
and in its Canadian Provinces. The question that we needed answer to is, why?
Every successful food restaurant chain has values, beliefs and rules to live by that
complement the quality of product that they make and this is what we needed to
understand about Five Guys. The Five Guys mission statement from Jerry Murrell
himself is, We are in the business of selling burgers. Along with that they also have
a goal; they want to sell the best quality burger possible by focusing on quality,
service and cleanliness. Every Five Guys restaurant has a sign that hangs on the
beverage machine, they like to think of it has a service promise and it says, You
the customer are the most important visitor on the premise. You are not dependent
on us, we are dependent on you. You are not an outsider in our business you are a
part of it. We are not doing you a favor by serving you you are doing us a favor by
giving us the opportunity to do so. As a consulting team we have identified at least

On December 3, 2015, the Department of Human Services, Office of Program
Review, Monitoring and Investigators (DHSOPRMI), Kiana Beekman and Rhonda
Bowen interviewed Mr. Hieu T. Perez in a McDonalds Restaurant located at 121
North Cove Terrace, Oxon Hill Glassmanor, Maryland 20745. DHSOPRMI
Investigators identified themselves and verified Mr. Perez identity as well. Mr.
Perez, who had been previously informed of the purpose of the interview voluntarily,
provided the following information in regard to Miya Ford (Raspberry).
Mr. Perez and his wife Mrs. Perez are the current homeowners of 503 Treehouse

Mr. and Mrs. Perez serve as landlords. During the interview, Mr. Perez was asked to
confirm the identity of Miya Ford via her a photo provided by the State of
Maryland Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV). He was also asked to confirm the
rental property in question by identifying a photo of the house per Google Maps.
Following the acknowledgement of Mrs. Ford and the rental property, Mr. Perez

Meaning Of Pan s Labyrinth
Pan s Labyrinth shows two worlds. The real world and the fantasy world created
by Ofelia s desire to escape the real world. Monsters are shown in the movie to have
a deeper connection to Ofelia and how she sees reality in her fantasy world. The
visions that she sees are either threats or closure from the suffering in the real
world that she faces. Every creature has a significant meaning such as the toad, the
fairies, and the pale man. The toad represents her brother, the fairies represent
innocence and childhood, and the pale man represents the Captain as well as the
aspects of growing older. When Ofelia goes to do her first task for the faun she
encounters the toad in the tree. The toad is killing the tree from the inside. This is
what is happening in Ofelia s fantasy world, the true meaning of the toad was her
unborn brother sucking the life from her mother from the inside. The way that the
toad was killing the tree is also the same as her brother killing her mother from the
inside as well. When the toad regulates itself after being tricked to eat the stones by
Ofelia, this is what she sees as the horrors of giving birth or what she sees as a
result of that. Horrifying and unsettling, Ofelia sees her brother as a threat to her
mother s life. The birth of the child is also seen as a threat to her as well.... Show

This is the first creature that is introduced in the movie. This is because the fairy
represents innocence and youth. Ofelia believes in fairy tales and is still pure and
innocent in nature. The deeper meaning of the fairies also is the competition for her
mother s affection with her unborn brother. Another interpretation of Ofelia feeling
threatened by her brother s birth which is later shown to be true in the case when she
approaches the toad later on in the
Actual Cash Value Of A Homeowner s Insurance
Homeowner s insurance at times can seem really complicated. It can be easy to just
assume that the homeowner s package that your insurance agent put together
provides you with the most value and the most protection in the event of a loss.
However, that is not always the case, which is why it is important for you to
understand the implications of every aspect of your homeowner s insurancepolicy.
Here is a quick breakdown of the difference between having your home and
belongings insured for the replacement cost verses the actual cash value.
Actual Cash Value
When many people here the term actual cash value, they assume that means that they
are going to get exactly what they think their home is worth should anything happen
to it. However, the reality is a little different. ... Show more content on

They will only have to pay you for the value of that part of your home minus standard
depreciation rates.
For example, if your roof was installed ten years ago and at that time was worth
$10,000 but has depreciated $5,000 over the last ten years, your insurance company
only has to provide you with $5,000 to replace your roof.
Not only will you have to pay your deductible in full before your insurance company
provides you with this money, you will also be responsible for paying the reminder
of the repair costs on your own and there is a really good chance that it will cost you
more to replace your roof today than it did ten years ago.
When your homeowner s insurance policy covers the actual cash value of your
home and your belongings, you are going to have to pay out your deductible as well
as the extra money necessary to fix your home or replace your belongings. Although
actual cash value policies tend to cost less in the short term, you tend to have to pay
more in the long term if something actually happens to your home.

Improving the Medical Command s Acquisition Workforce Marcus Perkins Webster

Procurement and Acquisitions PROC 6000 Professor Bayless December 14, 2016
Improving the Medical Command s Acquisition Workforce Abstract The Army
Medical Command (MEDCOM) makes up 2% of the Army Acquisition Workforce of
more than 37,000 acquisition professionals (Craig A. Spisak, 2016). The Army
Medical Command has five acquisition career fields (ACF) that make up its
workforce of acquisition professionals; program management, contracting, science
and technology managers, information and technology, and test and evaluation. The
MEDCOM acquisition workforce (MAW) comprises of civilians and military
members with an additional skill identifier (ASI) known as the 8X. This review will
focus on MEDCOM s ability to improve its acquisition workforce among the five
ACFs. Mr. Spisak states, by valuing individuals and group potential, the Human
Capital Strategy Plan points the way to success for the Army Acquisition Workforce
(Spisak et al., p. 162). MEDCOM has strict regulatory mandates toward managing
their acquisition personnel separately from but inclusively with the Army Acquisition
Workforce (AAW). The Army Medical Command cannot wait on the Acquisition
Support Center (ASC) to manage nor build their talent nor can MEDCOM expect
their subordinate acquisition activities to function without guidance. These

Island Made Thesis
How was the Island Made
By:Jonah Jacksteit
Thesis Statement This report will talk about how the marooned island got made.
An island 2000 km south of Hawai i. The island is at 1В°52 23.40 N and 157В°19
6.69 W and spans 717 square kilometers of land. On this land there were volcanoes
but after some time they got eroded away. In this report I will prove that there was a
volcano on the island and I will do so by stating how the plants, climate, location and
animals prove that there was a volcano.
Plants There are very few native plants on the island. The only plants that are on
the island are breadfruit trees, pandanus trees, pawpaw trees, coconut trees, babai(a
type of taro root), mosses and mangrove trees. There are also yams lemons, and
sugarcane as non tree plants. These seeds for plants probably got transported to the
island by birds except for the coconuts because there aren t any land borders to any
other island. Because there are no land boarders it gives us some evidence that the
island got made by a volcano.

The temperatures year round are 28C 32C with humidity. These temperatures
indicate that the island is not that far from the equator. The humidity on the island
raises the temperature by 10C and is a by product from the volcanoes. By having the
volcanoes here before, it evaporated more water, which added pressure in the air,

It is very hard for zoos to replicate the natural environment that the animal is used to
living in. Capturing animals is cruel no matter the reason. Animals have their own
rights, and animals have their own lives while they re out in the wild. Capturing
these animals destroys their way of life. For example elephants travel long
distances in the wild in large groups that is their way of life. When elephants are in
a zoo, they can t travel long distances, in fact, the amount they can move can barely
be named as worthy of travel. (List of Pros and Cons of Zoos). Experts, scientists,
and researchers who study elephants in the wild strongly opposed a similar capture
in 2003, stating, Taking elephants from the wild is not only traumatic for them, it is
also detrimental to their health. We believe the time has come to consider them as
sentient beings and not as so much money on the hoof to be captured and sold and
displayed for our own use. (Zoos: Pitiful
Pros And Cons Of Social Media Essay
Being that social media has had such a huge impact on how people all around the
world connect today, some may argue that its system has become corrupt and its
purposes have changed. In reality, social media, like every other technological
advancement, has its pros and cons, however the positive effects that it has on
teens in particular outway its negative effects. The platform still offers many new
opportunities for users to relate and support each other; offering a source of
healthy communication, and a way of keeping close with your peers without being
with them every step of the way. The programs that are commonly used today are
actually proven to make teens more outgoing and provide users with non stop
engagement, allowing people from all around the world to network and develop
new interests. As said before, social medias original purpose was to reconnect and
meet new people. The way you choose to use it will determine whether or not you
have a positive experience. You decide who you want to follow and how you interpret
what they are trying to express through their account. When looking deep into social
media it actually includes many motivational pages, which many teens use as a
source to connect their hobbies and ideas with others, accommodating to all of its
users and their interests while building new relationships. Pursuing this further, social
media can help others find support and connect with people who may have issues
similar to their own. In addition to this,
Sophocles Gender Roles
In the Oedipus Cycle by Sophocles, his plays could be read as a critique of women s
roles. We see this in negative attitudes about women in Iocaste, Creon, and Ismene.
Antigone goes against those expectations of women s roles. Creon thinks that women
should always obey the men, and should a woman stand up against a man then he is
weaker than the woman (209). Ismenethink that there is nothing women can do
except listen to men; she thinks that women have no choices of their own (213).
While Iocaste thinks that women are just supposed to marry a man and not
question anything that he does (45). Antigone defies the King s edict of civil law
by following God s law and burying her brother (208). Antigone knows defying the
King in this way would result in her death, but still she accepts full responsibility
because she could not live with herself by putting the will of a man before God.
Iocaste thinks that women cannot do anything without the permission of a man.
Women have to marry into limited positions of power, because women could not
possibly do it correctly on their own (45). Creon is a lot like Oedipus when they talk
of women and women s responsibilities. Creon discounts and ignores the opinions
of women and will not consider what they have to say despite any truth of what
they may be saying (209). Creon shows this by saying This girl is guilty of a double
insolence. Breaking the given laws and boasting of it. Who is the man here, She or I,
if this crime goes unpunished?

The Red Queen s character is seen as an antagonist, the opposing force to Alice s
adventures. Upon their first encounter in this story the queen explains the rules of
her kingdom as like the rules of a game of chess, as a story and game of
advancement and promotion. Alice is like a pawn piece and can move up the
board in such a way that she too can become the queen, like as in chess the queen
can move effortlessly in whatever manner she likes. The queen perturbs Alice into
an endless run with Alice having no real direction of where she is heading and
meeting other strange characters along the way which develops her idea of the
impossible being possible. Elizabeth Pearce, a curator and writer for MONA states;
the Red Queen exhibition asks us to consider whether doing something without a
seeming purpose is the product of us, or whether it actually contributes to changing
us. (The Red Queen arrives at MONA 2013) This exhibition, takes us into the realms
of the science behind the theme. The evolutionary concept that in the earlier
20thcentury scientist s believed there was an end point, a goal to the evolutionary
process. A parallel story of Alice put forth this idea when the Red Queen tells Alice:
Now, here, you see, it takes all the running you can do, to keep in the same place. (

Never Elsewhere Neil Gaiman Analysis
The world is a very interesting place. The earth has temperatures from 136 to 126
degrees Fahrenheit, depths of over 35,000 feet, and heights of over 29,000 feet.
These climates and elevations ultimately shape the human world. Habitats
everywhere from humid rainforest to the scorching desert each support an
ecosystem of their own. The setting of anything, whether a fantasy story or an
academic documentary, is very important. Nothing lives in a vacuum. The setting of
the novel Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman is a very interesting place which plays a
pivotal role in the book s development of character, plot, and theme.
The story takes place in London, with a young man named Richard Mayhew.

home made mail bombs being sent to the homes of popular or important people were
becoming a familiar fear to the public. The postal service attempted to intercept them

Persuasive Essay Mla Format.pdf

  • 1. Persuasive Essay Mla Format Crafting a persuasive essay in MLA format can be a challenging endeavor that requires careful attention to detail and adherence to specific guidelines. The Modern Language Association (MLA) format comes with its own set of rules regarding citation, formatting, and overall structure, adding an extra layer of complexity to the writing process. To begin with, one must thoroughly understand the topic at hand and develop a compelling thesis statement. This demands extensive research to gather relevant information and supporting evidence, which must be cited appropriately in accordance with MLA guidelines. The citation process involves meticulous attention to detail, including the author's name, publication date, and page numbers. The structure of the essay is another aspect that poses a challenge. Following the introduction, body paragraphs should present clear arguments supported by evidence, all while maintaining a coherent flow. Transitioning smoothly between ideas and paragraphs is crucial to keep the reader engaged and convinced by the presented arguments. Additionally, mastering the art of persuasion is essential. The language used must be compelling and tailored to the audience, incorporating rhetorical devices to enhance the persuasive impact. Striking the right balance between ethos, pathos, and logos requires a nuanced understanding of rhetorical strategies. Moreover, the revision process is crucial in achieving a polished and effective essay. Careful proofreading is necessary to catch grammatical errors, typos, and ensure that the formatting adheres strictly to MLA guidelines. The meticulous nature of these requirements can make the writing and revising process time-consuming and mentally taxing. In conclusion, navigating the intricacies of crafting a persuasive essay in MLA format involves a combination of research, attention to detail, and effective persuasive techniques. However, for those seeking assistance, it's worth noting that various resources, including professional writing services, can provide valuable support in alleviating the challenges associated with this task. • 2. Vladek Spiegelman It is human nature to go through difficulties, they shape who we are as people for good or for bad. It is not the challenges that shape who we are as people, but how we react and the lesson we take away from our misfortunes. In the story of Maus 1 and 2, we can analyze Vladek Spiegelman and see how his struggles have given us immense knowledge about humanity, and some of the flaws. In the stories of Maus1 and 2, Art Spiegelmanuses Vladek s dialogue to show that humanity will judge and deprecate no matter what. The background story of Vladek is that he is a holocaust survivor who traveled from camp to camp during the war while he was constantly losing family, but gaining knowledge and picking up habits he would carry on for the rest of his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Mala and Vladek rarely can cooperate with each other and are constantly fighting with each other. Whether it is a miniscule detail or a bigger topic they are always finding a reason to bicker. For instance, while Vladek was over Mala had made them sandwiches for lunch, and instead of being thankful like he should have been Vladek criticized and brought Mala down. The dialogue used to express this situation was Vladek stating Mala could go for a whole evening out with her friends and leave for me nothing cooked to eat or drink then following with Sigh. You see how it is? I have now one more time an unnecessary suffering in my life . From this we can draw that he is agitated that Mala does not care for his every need like a maid. Vladek was dragging Mala down for leaving without making food only sometimes and being selfish. Instead of helping himself he has to add on saying an unnecessary suffering in my life which is expressing what his needs are is more important than Mala, who he is
  • 3. The Confrontation Between Japan And The United States This confrontation between Japan and the United States impacted the battles to come in the Pacific. History has proven the island of Midway to be an important base for many operations during World War II. Had the United States lost this battle, the war may have reached a different outcome. The Battle of Midway proved to be a crucial point for the United States in preventing the Japanese from taking control of the Pacific region during World War II. If Midway had fallen into the hands of the Japanese, America could have been at risk. This was the battle that could have saved or destroyed the United States a battle in which the lives of American citizens hung in the balance. (Cox 658 659) On December 7, 1941 Japan began a brazen attack to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Overtaking the island of Midway would have enabled Japan to have a base close enough to launch an attack directly against the United States. On May 10, 1942, the United States intercepted and broke a code to the Japanese. This code was a signal for the Japanese to invade and take control over the island. When the U.S. finished deciphering the code, immediate action was taken. The attack on Midway was planned to begin on June 4, 1942. The U.S. sent out over 66 ships, including carriers, destroyers and submarines. In sending naval power to Midway less than a month earlier, the United States planned to ambush the Japanese. (Prados) A 1998 abstract review for military training by Paul J. Jaeger reflects to the importance of the application of operational intelligence as a function of operational art and how the Planning and execution for the Midway operation required fusion of strategic operational and tactical intelligence by the commanders involved; most notably Admiral Chester Nimitz (Jaeger, pg 22). The strategy employed was to act immediately and tactically to the intelligence the commanders received from the code breakers. David J. Jerabek also analyzes Admiral Nimitz strategic leader competencies and evaluates his contributions in achieving a total victory in the Pacific for the Allied powers (Jerabek) The United States location on Midway Island was an imperative strategic
  • 4. The Federal Reserve There are many thoughts about the Federal Reserve, some people think it is the biggest thief ever and some other people think that the Illuminati is running the show. Also some people know that the Federal Reserve has saved the economy of the United States a couple of times from depressions. Moreover, economists think that the Federal Reserve saved the U.S. from the most recent depression in 2008. Many people in the U.S. may not know who Alexander Hamilton is; however, any economist or anybody who is studying economy should know who he was. Alexander Hamilton played a big role in the economy of the United States in 1791, when he started promoting a movement to embrace a central bank. In that same year the first bank of the United States... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Federal Reserve exists because Congress approved and created it, but is does not enact policy measures with any Congressional or Presidential approval. Politically, this makes it quite independent (Roche). With this been said and since the majority of conspiracies sometimes have wrong facts, their fact about the Federal Reserve not being managed by the federal government is correct. Additionally, when America s economy was melting in 2008, the Federal Reserve played a big role to stabilize it. Besides the Great Depression during the years 1929 through 1939 the worst economic time for the United States, 2008 was unmistakable one of the worst years of America s economy history. When this economic recession was taking place, the Fed had to take action to avoid another depression and to stop a fall from the financial system. With the help of the Federal Reserve J.P. Morgan Chase and Co. s they planned to help Bear Stearns (an investment bank) with financial assistance to help the government to buyout AIG, a well known insurance company. This helped to produce a strategy targeting to stabilize the credit market and also the short term interest rate from 45% to almost 0 from the benchmark (Coste). Thanks to the Federal Reserve and their well design plan to avoid another recession they prevented the economy of the world or better known as Macroeconomic system from falling and getting it

Pros and cons of training modalities remain apparent regardless of preference; whether one favours safety due to injuries, or heavy weight to increase the amount of skeletal muscle mass. This meta analysis seeks to compare and relate the differences between the two, by comparing results of 1RMs and 3RMs across three separate studies. Each study typically identified a separate facet, from the levels of muscle activation during a press, to the correlations between machine exercise and the free weight counterparts. Researchers observed significant disparities between the 1RMs. Exercises performed on the machines proved significantly higher 1RMs. According to the study, it is believed that the machine counterpart would cause a higher 1RM as it has a reduced need for core activation and stabiliser recruitment, which could in turn allow a greater production of force being applied to the linear path of the machine. Discrepancies in the range of motion and movement patterns were also noted, because although the muscle being activated may be the same, the neurological stimulation may

  • 8. Criminal Prosecution And The Judicial Process Criminal prosecution develops through various stages in the judicial process beginning with the arrest of an individual and ending at a point before, during, or after a trial. The criminal procedure is based on the constitutional laws, statues, and court rulings that are meant to render justice in a criminal case. The government must follow these procedures during the entirety of a criminal case. Beginning with the initial investigation of an individual suspected of a crime, through the arrest, jailing, arraignment, and thereafter. Although they must act within the boundaries of the law and protect an individual s right to the 4th amendment of the constitution, police officers are allowed to conduct investigations, perform search and seizures, and arrest individuals that are suspected of a crime. Police officers do not need justification to stop someone and question them, but in order to search an individual a police officer must have probable cause. In order to make an arrest, the officer must either observe an individual committing a crime, have probable cause that a crime has been committed by that person, or have a valid arrest warrant. There is no scale to measure what probable cause is, so at the time of arrest, this is completely at the officer s discretion. This can cause officers to subdue the wrong individuals or make faulty decisions. Judges have the final say on what constitutes probable cause, and police officers must be able to ultimately justify their

It was all very careless and confused. They were careless people, Tom and Daisy they smashed up things and creatures and the retreated back into their money or their vast carelessness, or whatever it was the kept them together, and let other people clean up the mess they had made (Fitzgerald 180 181). In the novel The Great Gatsbyby F. Scott Fitzgerald, the characters Daisy and Tom demonstrate the theme of carelessness. I don t care! cried Daisy, and began to clog on the brick fireplace. (Fitzgerald 116) It is evident that Daisy s words I don t care show that she is inconsiderate of other peoples feelings. She rudely shows her affection for Gatsby in public without considering the fact that Nick and Myrtle are present. In addition to being inconsiderate of Nick and Jordan, Daisy is inconsiderate to Tom as well. She looked at him [Tom] blindly. Why how could I love him possibly? (Fitzgerald 132) It is extremely inconsiderate to be telling Tom the man to whom she is married that she never loved him. Therefore, even though Tom showed carelessness through being inconsiderate of Daisy, Daisy was the more careless one because she was inconsiderate of more people as a result of her behaviour. These people include Nick, Jordan, and Tom. Finally, both Tom and Daisy show carelessness through being foolish. Tom Buchanan exhibits foolishness by physically harming Daisy. We all looked. The knuckle was black and blue. You did it, Tom, she said accusingly. I know you didn t mean to, but you did do it. That s what I get for marrying a brute of a man, a great, big, hulking physical specimen of a (Fitzgerald 12) This is significant because since Tom was foolish by acting on impulse, Daisy got injured. • 10. Essay on The Benefits of Hydrogen Cars The Advantages of Hydrogen Cars As you know, gas prices are going up. Nobody likes paying more money for gas and yet nobody is willing to do anything about it. Now that we are at war with the Middle East (the main gasoline providers) the gas prices are going to keep going up. Some people (like foreign ambassadors) say that trade with the Middle East is good for there economy, but I for one don t like being dependant on foreign oil. That is where hydrogen fuel cells come into the picture. Rather than depending on a foreign countries oil, to provide fuel, businesses today should look to hydrogen as an alternative fuel source. The United States is too dependent on foreign oil. If something were to happen, like another war with the Middle ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Then there is the fact that everybody would have to buy new cars in order for the process to work, most people do not have the money, but the government could always do some kind of fund to get the money for the people to buy the cars. Mechanics would have to go back to school to learn how to work on the new cars, or they could put a small training course out and give it to the mechanics. Finally, the last major problem with hydrogen is the fact that it is more flammable then gasoline, this is only true if the gas is not contained properly. When you think of hydrogen, you think of the blimp the Hindenburg, which was a hydrogen filled blimp, and then it explodes because the gas was not contained properly. I think that all these problems can be fixed. Cars powered by hydrogen get better gas mileage. They can go double the distance or even triple the distance of the car with the best gas mileage on the market. The cars can t go as fast as cars can today, but they can get very close. Toyota is the biggest supporter of hydrogen powered vehicles. They already have working hydrogen cars in other countries on the road. They have many prototypes ready and waiting for the US. Some people (like President Bush) like the idea for hydrogen powered vehicles. He put in $3 billion after 9/11 towards hydrogen powered vehicles. With the president and most

The Doctor, Starring William Hurt And Elizabeth Perkins Feeling helpless and alone on a cold, rigid hospital bed, patients often look to their physician to provide them with solace and comfort, however, some unfortunate patients are faced with what the New York Times (2005) calls the bane of the medical profession: the difficult doctor. These physicians patronize their patients and speak to them condescendingly during their time of tribulation, and it has deep and intense repercussions for them. Not only is this incredibly unprofessional but it is not something a patient wants to hear when disclosing personal, intimate details of their life. Patient care and consideration does not stop when the surgery or procedure is over. The handling of an individual s emotional state, post operation is just as important as the operation itself in the overall recovery of the patient. Patients leave angry, humiliated, and with more insecurities than they came in with. The analysis of the 1991 film The Doctor, starring William Hurt and Elizabeth Perkins, will consider appropriate health communication techniques that resonate well with patients. The film s protagonist, Dr. Jack McKee, does not use suitable techniques that his patients appreciate. The first and second body paragraphs will investigate respectable socialization and strong patient caregiver bonds and how they are pivotal to achieving solid results with patients. The third and final body paragraphs will examine what changes Dr. McKee makes to his practice that better reflect the
  • 13. Firefighter Research Paper The alarm sounds. Fire fighters scramble into coats, and helmets, and boots. Fire trucks roar into the street loaded with fire fighters and their equipment. Every minute counts. Lives and property could be at stake. A fireman has to be of great physical and mental stature, they are minutemen and have to be ready at all times. No one can dispute that a firefighter should be a well educated and well prepared individual. Because of the rigorous and dangerous caliber involved in the fire academy, an applicant should be well prepared, by obtaining a college degree. For example, a college degree is essential for what one needs to have a successful career in firefighting. College provides a base for a stable mental state and helps the mind grow.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To become a fireman, it is now required, in the state of Florida to complete an almost year long course on Emergency Medical Technician training. The course requirements include CPR certification and at least a couple hundred hours of work at a hospital. EMT is a basic course in medical training. This course is a good tool for what a firefighter can expect in the future on a fire truck. Typically, fire trucks are the first of the emergency team to arrive at a scene. If firefighters are the first to arrive, they should be expected to know everything possible. If they arrive at a car accident and the paramedics are not available for a few minutes, a fireman can act as a paramedic until help arrives. Although EMT is a single course, a class such as biology can aid in the study of the human body. Not only will it help with passing the EMT course, it will enrich one s knowledge about the human body. Just as biology helps with completing the EMT course, physics and chemistry also reinforce the process. Completion of a fire science course and a hazardous materials course are needed for the fire academy. While in college, one can take physics or chemistry. Physics can help with the study of how buildings are made and what makes a weak building collapse. Structural fires are every firefighter s worst nightmare. A building can collapse within seconds. If an individual knows what structures are unsafe or unstable, it can assist in knowing whether to enter the building or not. Also, while inside the building, one can determine what the best route to take is while carrying someone through the building based on how the structure looks. Chemistry also plays a crucial role in how fire lives. In today s society, according to Joy Masoff, one of the toughest problems facing firefighters is massive chemical fires that release deadly poisons into the air (43). Chemistry studies
  • 14. A Lesson Before Dying Film Analysis The University of Tennessee produced A Lesson before Dying by Romulus Linney in the Carousel Theatre, March 2016. This play was based off of Ernest J. Gaines novel, which follows a teacher in rural Louisiana as he tries to teach a young, black man, on death row, what it means to be a man. We are set up in a post World War II pre civil rights movement time, specifically 1948 where Jim Crow Law shapes the world of the characters in the show. The Carousel s performance masterfully emphasized the major theme of A Lesson Before Dying, racism in society, through various aspects of production. To begin, while this show is set in 1948, the message it delivers is, sadly, still prevalent in today s society. Linney took the message that Gaines wrote... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Rather than producing an exciting spectacle the director, and designers let the script and the actors do the heavy lifting of the story. This was a very effective tactic that guided the audience s attention to the important part of the show, the message. For example, the set and props of the show were minimal. The back drop of the show was a grey wall that was stationary for the majority of the show. When a scene change was necessary, it was accomplished by a combination of furniture and lighting. There was never much to look at other than what the actors on stage, which allows for the focus to be on the words and actions that are taking place rather than the environment that the scenic designer had created. Another aspect of the production that helped to successfully yet discretely accomplish what Linney was trying to acknowledge was the lighting. As mentioned before lighting was essential to the scene changes throughout the production. Besides the placement of a desk and chairs, there was a light that illuminated the American flag when the actors were in the school. Newton s Second Law And The Relationship Purpose: The purpose of this Lab was to investigate Newton s second law and the relationships between: Force and Acceleration, and Mass and Acceleration. Newton s Second Law states that any object that experiences a net or unbalanced force will undergo acceleration. Newton s second law of motion describes the relationship between force and acceleration. If you increase the force applied to an object, the acceleration of that object increases by the same factor. For Mass and Acceleration the net force on an object is equal to the mass of the object multiplied by the acceleration of the object. The similarities and differences can be due to artistic differences for instance how one person interprets something may not be how another interprets it, budget reasonings, or it may just simply have to do with a time line of the filming. Seeing as a majority of films are not made by the author of the book, it can be extremely hard for a director and movie writer to completely capture the book on film. To examine how the socio economic status of the Malays corresponds to their political marginalisation, we must first establish that they are indeed politically marginalised. Political marginalisation can be taken to mean low political interest and low political trust, indicating a feeling of distance to the political sphere of society (Oskarson, 2010, p.7), and it is intrinsically linked to the theoretical concept of political efficacy, that is, an individual s feelings of their own potential influence on politics, as well as their faith and trust in the government. This is done deliberately by Singapore. There is no other country that does it like them , as well as in 2011, Singapore Malays are being marginalised until the end of the world (Berita Harian, 20 January 2011). There are two polarising opinions on the issue of Malay marginality, and it is essential to delve into their political motivations in order to determine which is more reliable. On the other hand, Dr Mahathir s accusation of Singapore deliberately marginalising the Malays also cannot be taken too seriously, as it was in retaliation to Lee Kuan Yews antagonistic comments. • 22. Summary OfThe Assault By Harry Mulisch In The Assault , the author, Harry Mulisch, depicts Anton Steenwijk as the protagonist, who witnesses the violence at the night of the assault. In the subsequent years, Anton distances himself from the truth of the assault due to his traumatic experience, his incomplete knowledge towards the event, and his sorrowful memories. The traumatic experience makes Anton reluctant to go back to Haarlem, where the violent assault takes place. The assaultgives Anton a strike, and many times in the story, he pledges never to go back to Haarlem. For example: He shouldn t have come; he should never have returned to Haarlem. He should have buried all that, the way one buries the dead (Mulisch 61). It can be inferred that deep in Anton s mind, what happens at that night is the most horrible moment to him, and such unforgettable memories remind him of never coming back. The parallel structure here shows a complex mindset that Anton has when he hesitates to return to Haarlem. The author uses consecutive should and shouldn t stresses this tone. The all that here probably means all the tragic events happen in Haarlem, including both the assault and deprivation of Anton s parents. Also, the author uses an analogy, that Anton should forget all the things in Haarlem and never think about them again, because it is a disgraceful memory of Anton, just like someone should bury the dead to wipe away the mournful memories. Besides, Anton swears never to go back to Haarlem even if a job offers him a hundred thousand gulden a year. (61) This shows Anton is resolved not to go back to Haarlem. His reluctance to return is quite logical: Haarlem is a place teeming with unjoyful memories, and a place where his house is burnt, and his parents are lost. Who likes to return to a place where such sorrowful recollection flows? It is the presence of his traumatic experience that haunts Anton and holds him from going back and seeing the place again. In the aftermath of the violent assault, Anton develops a psychological distance that makes him too sorrowful to accept the truth. The sorrow of his can be seen when Anton meets his former neighbor, Karin. As Once more the old bitterness welled up, the inexhaustible bitterness. Was he meant to

Ironically the idea that Napoleon was a short man is false as he was average height for his size at the time. A more useful way to look at a Napoleon complex would be to describe it as, a person who is driven by a perceived handicap to overcompensate in other aspects, in their lives. This quote by vaccine advocate Amy Parker, a woman who was not vaccinated as a child, shows just a glimpse into the life of an unvaccinated individual. Parents who do not vaccinate their children claim many different reasons for their decision. Three of the most popular reasons are: religious grounds, health problems as a result from vaccines, and the belief that the illnesses are rare. Each of these reasons can be proven as nonessential in the anti vaccineargument. First of all, religion has become a frequently used excuse. Recently, a case arose in New York City when three families obtained vaccination exemptions due to religious reasons (NYC Court 1). Because they chose to not vaccinate their children, their children were not allowed to attend school during times when another student had a vaccine preventable illness (NYC Court 1). Naturally, this sparked an uproar among the parents, who then sued the city by claiming it was a violation of their First Amendment right to religious freedom and their 14th Amendment right to equal protection under the law (NYC Court 1). The dogma of several mainstream religions references vaccines and whether or not they are necessary. For example, the Catholic Church strongly supports vaccination, even making it a moral and

The fact that both are so well respected is probably the only obvious similarity as their work is almost of complete opposites. The actors are there to create a real, emotional and truthful imitation of the character they are playing, and to be so life like that they seem to become their character. He said that the Purpose of our art is to create the life of a human soul and render it in an artistic form. (2) Which is quite a clear illustration of the purpose or role of stanislavskian actors. Stanislavski set out a way of preparing for a role so that the actor could fulfil his role of pure imitation. He started off by asking the actor to explore the character. He wanted to know what their objective was in each unit of action and what their super objective was. The super objective was the sum of all the units and their objectives. In a play the whole stream of individual minor objectives, all the imaginative thoughts, feelings and actions of an actor, should converge to carry out the super objective of the plot Once actors can find some direction or purpose (objective or super objective) then it is easier, according to Stanislavski, to immerse themselves in the character. • 36. The Pros And Cons Of Public Schools David Cantu November 21, 2017 English 1301 Dr. Rebecca Millan Public schools are the way to go! There are many types of ways kids acquire an education today; some of these happen to be public and public schools. Some assume that private schools offer superior everything, justifying their tuition costs (Great Schools Staff). In that case, people automatically convey the false belief that private schools have a much better form of education. In reality, education in a Public school is highly more advanced and experienced than any particular Private school, because of their social involvements being opened to try new things, accumulating more experience for a smaller cost, and having no limitations nor boundaries that will minimize student s skills and capabilities. Public schools have been around for decades, and have formed one of our main options to pursue an education in the 21st century. Researchers mentioned, We analyzed instructors and performance for over 300,000 elementary and middle school students in 15,108 public, charter, and private schools. What we found surprised us (Valerie Strauss). The experience these public schools carry is real, from having a variety of students who practice different types of religion, to having people who have been raised differently. Experiences like these allow the students to get comfortable with these types of environments. The message trying to be delivered there is that one day eventually all kids will end up in what is called The Real World , and kids that have been raised and have been educated in an environment with limited boundaries like private schools, might eventually be facing several obstacles. For example, obstacles like not being familiar socializing well enough with others. That is probably one of the toughest one in such way that growing up in private schools, an individual will always be socially hanging out or making relations around the same kind of people. Not being able to develop social relations with others just another reason why, students in public schools actually outperform those in private schools (Valerie Strauss). In various perspectives that s unscrupulous for students, a tremendous part of a student s education is being able to

Sci/Tech Background Europa Report (2013) focuses on a team of scientists and astronauts that are on a mission to explore and report on Europa, Jupiter s fourth largest moon with a surface of water theorized to be possibly able to support life. From the earliest known times when space was observed, cosmological speculations about life and the details thereof have been highly debated from the earliest of times (Beck 5). With technology exponentially developing, the search for life continues to attract attention and is commonly a topic of media, leaving film producers like those of Europa Report to fill in many of the gaps about life that just haven t been discovered yet. After a successful landing for the crew, the men held to each other s elbows, suddenly unable to breathe, it seemed. Their faces grew pale. (Bradbury 33). The men were filled with fear as to what they saw: Mars looked exactly like the old town on Earth they all grew up in. This portrayal of setting develops the fear of the unknown because it is the exact opposite of what Mars was believed to look like. Bradbury goes on to set this expedition in context chronologically with the previous two mission. Some of the men believed that Captain Williams and his crew of three men! Or Nathaniel York and his partner. would be able to justify how they had landed in an Earthly town, but Captain Black pointed out the York expedition was only a year ago, while Captain Williams and his men landed here some time during last August. and William and his men, as well as York, landed on the opposite side of Mars. (34). The men were looking for a justification as to why Mars was so Earthlike, but Bradbury brilliantly counters all points through explicitly detailing the setting as one that could not overlap with the present. This exudes fear of the unknown as there is no given solution as to what lies ahead of Captain Black and his

Employee performance review is a key component to the success of any organization. CanGo managers seem to have a misunderstanding on how to effectively execute a performance review of their employees. Therefore it is essential that CanGo management receive training to improve their performance reviews. The lack of understanding on how to execute a performance review can lead to potential performance review problems such as halo effect, leniency, strictness, central tendency, bias, and unclear standards. Periodic performance assessments provide specific metrics that pertain to the job roles and responsibilities for each employee. By allowing the performance assessment process to be a joint effort between an employee and its organization will allow employees to be accountable for their standards of performance within the organization. The key to achieving the most success from a performance assessment is to insure that it is inclusive, as well as comprehensive. A periodic performance assessment needs to cover daily duties, potential changes in responsibility and any foreshadowing milestones that may occur between the current assessment and the next performance assessment. Ideally each performance assessment will build on goals and achievements. As well as inherently build an employee performance portfolio for the life of the employees while working in the organization. A

As described on the program s website, Operation Safety Net provides its consumers with necessary health care and an increase of hope and self esteem (Operation Safety Net, 2015). This program has proven to help close the critical health inequity of homeless individuals living without healthcare. Healthy People 2020 define a health disparity as, a particular type of health difference that is closely linked with social, economic, and/or environmental disadvantage. (Disparities, para 6, 2015). • 51. Sophocles Gender Roles In the Oedipus Cycle by Sophocles, his plays could be read as a critique of women s roles. We see this in negative attitudes about women in Iocaste, Creon, and Ismene. Antigone goes against those expectations of women s roles. Creon thinks that women should always obey the men, and should a woman stand up against a man then he is weaker than the woman (209). Ismenethink that there is nothing women can do except listen to men; she thinks that women have no choices of their own (213). While Iocaste thinks that women are just supposed to marry a man and not question anything that he does (45). Antigone defies the King s edict of civil law by following God s law and burying her brother (208). Antigone knows defying the King in this way would result in her death, but still she accepts full responsibility because she could not live with herself by putting the will of a man before God. Iocaste thinks that women cannot do anything without the permission of a man. Women have to marry into limited positions of power, because women could not possibly do it correctly on their own (45). Creon is a lot like Oedipus when they talk of women and women s responsibilities. Creon discounts and ignores the opinions of women and will not consider what they have to say despite any truth of what they may be saying (209). Creon shows this by saying This girl is guilty of a double insolence. Breaking the given laws and boasting of it. Who is the man here, She or I, if this crime goes unpunished?
