PERSONAL GROWTH AND SELF DISCIPLINE WEEKEND FUNCTION 2010 BY: MARY ETHEL GUMISIRIZA
WHAT IS PERSONAL GROWTH? Personal growth is a process that produces personal change and progress. And it starts from within you. WHAT IS SELF-DISCIPLINE? The ability to force yourself to do something you know you should do, whether you feel like it or not.
SELF DISCIPLINE IS THE KEY TO PERSONAL GROWTH &
THE MAJOR KEY TO YOUR BETTER FUTURE IS YOU Jim Rohn
EXCUSES/FEARS THAT PEOPLE HAVE ABOUT TAKING ACTION TO ACHIEVE THEIR SUCCESS Intelligence excusitis – lack of education Age excusitis – I am too young, too old Luck excusitis - he/she is lucky!! Lack of working capital The economy and Lack of the right connections Past experiences – failures Fear of the unknown
Excuses/Fears Continued Lack of knowledge on how to start and run a business. Fear of competition I cant sell, I can’t talk to people For those employed - Breaking the normal routine. Missing your usual group. I don’t have time And many others
Successful people dislike the same things you dislike but discipline themselves to do them anyway. Why do they do the things they dislike? Because they know that is the price they must pay for success. This is why self discipline is so important in achieving success and personal growth.
Steps towards Personal Growth and Self Discipline 1) Find out how things work. Become aware, study, research the good life, how to do things better. Be curious like a child by having curiosity, excitement, faith and trust. a) read and become a good reader, read at least 30 minutes everyday b) listen . Get around good and successful people and listen to what they say.
c) Observe . Become a good observer. See how the successful people shake hands, how they walk, their gestures and copy them. Watch with interest. 2) Go to work. Act on what you have found out. 3)Don’t try to beat the system. Don’t cut corners. Find out how it works best and do as supposed
4) Write! Write your goals on a daily basis 5) Do it! Decide and plan what must be done on your goals. Then act on it. 6)Think it! Make a clear mental inventory of “why” you want to discipline your self. ” e.g. Talking to people daily will increase my sponsoring, boost my business and lead me to financial freedom.” 7)Feel it ! Make emotional assessment on how you will feel, when you successfully meet a goal. Visualize yourself there. ” I will feel happier about myself and feel more confident when I become a Diamond Director.”
8. Be gradual and consistent . Create a new habit. It is said that a new habit can be created in three weeks if you seriously focus on reconditioning yourself. Persist. 9.Go the distance. Be realistic. Fail and start again . Allow yourself setbacks. Don’t use the human tendency to fall off the wagon as an excuse to give up. 10. Always Pray and thank God for what He is doing for you on a daily basis.
REMEMBER, FOR THINGS TO CHANGE, YOU HAVE TO CHANGE OTHERWISE IT WONT CHANGE WORK HARDER ON YOURSELF THAN ANYTHING ELSE.
FOR THINGS TO CHANGE, I HAVE TO CHANGE OTHERWISE NOTHING WILL CHANGE

IN CONCLUSION You can begin immediately to be the person you aspire to be. You don’t have to wait. Do not be ruled by yesterday. Be rich at heart and stop wishing you were like so and so without working on yourself Share your vision with others. They will help you refine it. Learn how to take criticism positively.
Remember, freedom has a price and you should be willing to pay it. Yesterday is history, tomorrow is speculation today is all you have. Either you make money or you make excuses, but you can’t do both So start working on YOURSELF and your future NOW. Thank you
