Personal Culture Essay
Crafting a "Personal Culture Essay" can be both a challenging and rewarding endeavor. The
difficulty lies not only in the task of introspection but also in effectively translating your cultural
experiences into a coherent and engaging written piece. One must delve deep into their
background, upbringing, traditions, values, and the myriad of influences that have shaped their
identity.
The complexity arises from the subjective nature of personal culture; it is a unique amalgamation
of individual experiences, familial influences, societal factors, and personal reflections.
Articulating these aspects requires a delicate balance between self-disclosure and maintaining a
level of objectivity. Striking this balance is akin to navigating a fine line between being too
personal and detached.
Furthermore, the challenge extends to expressing cultural nuances with clarity, avoiding
stereotypes, and fostering a genuine connection with the reader. It involves transcending the
surface and delving into the profound impact of culture on one's beliefs, perspectives, and
interactions with the world.
Writing a personal culture essay demands thoughtful consideration of how culture intertwines
with various aspects of life, shaping beliefs, relationships, and even aspirations. The difficulty lies
in not merely recounting experiences but in analyzing their significance, making connections, and
illustrating personal growth.
In conclusion, navigating the intricacies of a "Personal Culture Essay" involves a profound
exploration of one's identity, experiences, and the cultural tapestry that weaves them together. It's
a challenge that requires self-reflection, cultural sensitivity, and effective communication skills.
The reward, however, is a rich narrative that not only provides insight into the author's identity
but also fosters a deeper understanding of the diverse ways in which culture influences our lives.

Change Management Plan

For many organizations, change is necessary in order to grow and succeed. Change
forces the organization to review strengths and weaknesses that may have an impact
on the organization during the changes that may occur. For this reason, having a
change model and an effective leader are crucial to having a smooth transition when
making changes. CrysTel, a telecommunications company with high employee
strength, is planning to implement a range of emerging telecommunications
technologies in a bid to increase the product offerings in the market. At CrysTel,
change is likely to occur and the company has to make sure that the right steps are ...

Another reason why communication would be important is to help in resolving
conflicts that may occur. Both the Sales and Delivery and Marketing departments
did not have effective conflict resolution processes that could be used. The Sales
Department only wanted issues to be raised during the semi annual performance
reviews and that was not good. Things may happen long before this review takes
place and something needs to be available as a resource to solving the problem.
Building a conflict resolution team for each department would be valuable. Like
the other departments, Sales and Delivery and Marketing would both be able to
discuss any issues at any given time if a process like this were made available. This
would cause communication to increase as well as make the jobs more flexible. An
employer who is serious about change management, Hiatt says, has to have a
structured, proactive approach that includes communication, a road map for the
sponsors of the change, training programs that go along with the overall project
and a plan for dealing with resistance, (HR Magazine, 2007). A training program
would also need to be put in place for the employees in the Marketing department.
Being that this department has poor performance and the employees feel as if
performance would be better if job roles and objectives were defined, a training
program would be very
Essay Shylock of William Shakespeare s The Merchant of
Venice
Shylock of William Shakespeare s The Merchant of Venice
Shylock is one of the main characters in Shakespeare s play The Merchant of
Venice , he starts in the play as an outcast of society because he is Jewish. Shylock
has been forced to become a banker in his life as an inhabitant of Venice, for the fact
that his religion is seen as wrong. Although Shylock is forced to become a banker he
plays a vital role in the city of Venice, without Shylock the city would struggle
economically. From an early point in the play Shakespeare makes Shylock look like
a money loving fiend, Shylocks first words in the play are Three Thousand ducats.
This line shows that Shylocks life revolves around money. The... Show more content

Shylock seems to show that he wants something to go wrong for Antonio and
Shylock feels that he deserves revenge. Seeing that Shylock is so eager to secure
revenge upon any one he can, the audience is lead to believe that Shylock is a
deeper and darker person than previously believed. Not only do all characters in the
play feel something about Shylock is wrong but so does the audience. As Shylock is
portrayed as a dark and mysterious character there is little support for him until it
becomes apparent that there is more reason for Shylock to seek revenge than
previously believed.
In Act I scene III after the deal to lend Antonio three thousand ducats is secured
Bassanio asks Shylock to dine with him but Shylock is quick to turn down the
offer, as Bassanio would insult Shylocks religion if the food were not kosher.
Shylock turns down the offer of dinner for a fairly strong reason, but once Antonio
arrives in person Shylock gives more reason to be disliked. Antonio and friends are
stood in a group when Shylock turns away and under his breath says,
I hate him for he is a Christian.
Although Shylock is turned away from the group Antonio still hears his spiteful
words.
This shows the villainous side to Shylock and although the reasons for such dislike
towards Antonio and friends is just, there is no need for the
Vouchers and School Choice Now! Essay
School Choice Now!
This is America the Free, the leader of the free world. I have choice in many
aspects of my life. For one of the most important concerns I have the education of
my children my choices are limited. The government s rigid control over public
education choice has got to stop. While it is true I can send my child to a private
school, I must incur costs above and beyond what I already provide to society for
public education through taxes. I can afford this; many people cannot. Those people
have no choice.
Is choice desirable? Yes. As expressed by the Constitution of the United States, our
capitalistic society certainly believes so. Teachers believe so. Teachers in public
schools in large cities are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
My beliefs of what schools must do to be successful fall with the reinvention
approach described by Finn and Ravitch (1995). Finn and Ravitch detail the
reinvention paradigm with the following tenants:
* decentralized control,
* entrepreneurial management, and
* grassroots initiatives.
All these tenants fall within a framework of publicly defined standards and
accountability. These standards must be both comprehensive and minimal a difficult
but not impossible conundrum to address.
This approach would truly give us the diversity Americans are so proud of and
continually demand. On top of the Finn and Ravitch framework I would add
accessibility for all students to the school of choice. Public schools must be open to
the public, financed by the public, and educationally and fiscally accountable to the
public.
I would like to see private educational institutions continue to thrive. They are a
necessary pressure relief valve for certain portions of our society. Private schools
could continue as they have, or, if they wanted access to public funds, they would
have to agree to the mandates the public would impose on them.
I believe in parental choice in public education, but choice in and of itself is not
enough. All parents regardless of socio economic status must be able to access the
school of their choice. They must have the financial capability to send their
How Hereditary And Environment Has Affected The
People...
This environment has composition of several aspects and these aspects are cordially
interdependent with environment and heredity, as well as this is coming from the
evolution eras and the concept of heredity is the basic model of this effective and
eminent source of heredity in chronological order. . Although hereditary environment
has always been a deciding factor in determining our future, yet majority of us hardly
even bothered to look over these factors.
In this assignment I am trying to develop my understanding about how hereditary
environment has affected the people around me and referring to some journals in
order to highlight the theoretical part as well. I have tried to draw a conclusion
based on my personal and professional experience.
Defining Hereditary
Introduction and meaning
Heredity is one of the powerful factors that contribute to the formation of human
personality. It influences man s social behavior too too. It is through the process of
heredity that children normally get some of the physical and psychological
characteristics of their parents. Heredity refers to the biological process of
transmission of certain biological and psychological characteristics from parents to
their children through what are known as genes. Human society is not only dynamic
but also diverse. Differences are found between societies and between societies and
within the same society among the peoples and groups. In fact, society is based on
the principle of difference.
Diagnosis Of Hernia
There are numerous symptoms a patient can present with that may indicate a
diagnosis of a ventral hernia. They can range from the patient feeling no pain to being
in complete disarray due to the intensity and severity of pain that may occur with this
defect. While with some patients this can be a congenital defect meaning the patient
was born with an abnormally thin abdominal wall or due to the incomplete closing of
an abdominal structure. Furthermore, these patients rarely will not present with
symptoms of pain or discomfort until they are older. Other patients may develop this
type of hernia due to pregnancy, excessive weight gain, persistent straining, family
history, ascites (fluid between the abdominal tissues and organs), age, and previous...

The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo
You may have heard that everything is bigger in Texas. and if you really want to
experience how everything is bigger, you go to the Houston Livestock Show and
Rodeo (HLSR). The HLSR, or Houston Rodeo as it is referred to by Houstonians,
is the largest event of its kind in the world and has been in session since 1932. In
2013, The HLSR had more people in attendance (approx 2.6 million) at the Rodeo
than the entire population of the city of Houston (approx 2.1 million), which
happens to be the 4th largest city in the United States as well as the most populated
city in the state of Texas. The HLSR is held at Reliant Parkfor three weeks during
March, and since parking is always a hassle, Reliant Park also happens to have one of
the largest parking lots available as well.
After arriving in Reliant Park and taking an hour to find a parking spot, nothing
seems amiss. Hell, at this point, all you see is signs for Rodeo Houston pointing
this way and that way ; it s honestly a little overbearing at first. The HLSR consists
of many events going on simultaneously: the Rodeo, Livestock shows, Concerts, a
BBQ contest, and even a carnival. Upon entering one of the many buildings in
Reliant Park, however, the atmosphere changes completely according to where you
go. The people, smells, and even noises are all different. Being a Texan, though, I
always started at the BBQ contest.
Now the BBQ contest, referred to either as The Cookoff or The world championship

Trichinella Lab Report
OUTBREAK REPORT ON TRICHINOSIS EPIDEMIC IN FRANCE
SUMMARY
INTRODUCTION/BACKGROUND
Trichinosis also referred to as trichinellosis is caused by ingesting the larvae of the
parasitic roundworm species called Trichinella. The infection commonly occurs
after eating raw or undercooked meat from animals such as domestic pigs or wild
boar, horses, bear or cougar. The Trichinella larvae will form a cyst within the
striated muscles of these animals and once ingested will mature into adult worms in
the small intestine after 1 2 days. These adult worms will mate and produce eggs,
which will then develop into larvae that cross into the blood system and migrate to
striated muscles where they form cysts. The clinical presentation of Trichinosis varies

Clinicians were asked to report all suspected cases of trichinosis that had been
diagnosed in the Auvergne community, details to include were the signs and
symptoms of cases, in addition hematological tests looking for eosinophilia as well
as serological tests. Across the province medical laboratories were asked to report
all cases who had who had unexplained eosinophilia. The local media were used to
educate the public about the possible risk of trichinosis associated with ingesting raw
or undercooked horse meat. They were also instructed to contact their general
practitioner if they had flu like symptoms with facial edema or muscular pain.
Case Definition
Confirmed case defined as a person living in Auvergne with either muscle biopsy
positive for trichinella or in whom serial immunofluorescence (IF) assays
demonstrated seroconversion.
Probable case defined as a patient in Auvergne between February 15 and March 15
1991, with recent clinical features of trichinosis (fever, facial edema or myalgia) or
eosinophilia ( 1 x 109 eosinophils per litre) associated with a positive indirect IF
assay for trichinella antibodies.
Epidemiological Studies
Two case control studies were commenced on April 3, 1991 in Auvergne. Two
different control groups were developed. One study had used controls who were
asymptomatic persons who lived with the patients. While the
An Assortment of Memories, a Myriad of Histories
American society has traditionally been referred to as a melting pot, welcoming
people of all races, religions, and heritages to enjoy the freedom that only America
could provide. That was not always the case, as incidents such as the internment of
Japanese Americans at Manzanar and the Lewis and Clark journey along the
Columbia River exhibited American racial intolerance and demonstrated the inherent
racism of the Manifest Destiny an ideal upon which this nation was founded. Today,
government agencies such as the National Park Service (NPS) aim to repair the
United Statesnegative reputation by creating national historic sites, which serve as
either a celebration of American historyor an apologetic reminder of events that can

This is a major reason why the National Park Service essentially contradicts itself
and fails in its goals to create a unified history for all Americans. The treatment of
memory at the Manzanar historical site specifically shows that the way in which the
National Park Service treats historical sites containing foreign heritage will never be
able to create a single, shared history for all Americans. One source of tension
derivative of this project is the grossly generic incorporation of specific stories within
Manzanar in its conversion from purely a site of tragic memory to a site of National
memory. The production of this national memory tends to absorb the meaning of
individual and group histories, especially when that group represents an ethnic
minority (Hayashi 55). This absorption ignores specific stories of Japanese immigrant
experience at the site, creating a universally incorrect generic representation of the
experience and painting an incomplete picture of the events that occurred there. To
paint an incomplete picture of a historical site is to contest the memories of the ethnic
minorities who were there. When asked about this limited representation of Japanese
immigrant history represented at the site, Jerry Rogers, Associate Director of Cultural
Resources for the National Park Service, stated
To Build A Fire By Jack London
You should never dive into life or death situations unprepared and ill informed on
how to take action given a common problem you could come across because it
really could be your life on the line. Actions are the main factor in your survival and
because of that fact, survival is your own responsibility. Alternatively, there are some
situations where you really have no control and are at the mercy of nature. But,
regardless people should be held accountable for their actions in situations that deal
with life and death because your actions directly affect you. Your decisions also
affect other people, for instance, in a storywhere a German caver needed to be saved

Irish Immigrants To America
The largest group ever to immigrate to the United States was the Irish. Today, there
are over forty three million people that are of Irish blood within the US. There were
three different reasons that brought Irish to America. The first was the early
medieval Christian church. The second was the fight of the Roman Catholic
nobility. The third and final was the great potato famine, which was the greatest
mass emigration ever. The first and second reason the Irish immigrated was mostly
caused by conditions after 1717 that began to grow uneasy. The British encouraged
the people of Northern Ireland who were called Scotch Irish to create a Catholic
Ireland. Irish could not live with religious freedom. They were often challenged by

Intercommunion Research Paper
Intercommunion has been a major discussion when it comes to the uniting the
Christian churches. Intercommunion is when non Catholic Christian receive the
Eucharist/communion in the catholic church or when other Christian receive
communions in a different church. Although the reason behind intercommunion is
for uniting the different churches, it still challenges belief and practices. The Catholic
Churchviewpoint of the Eucharistis different from other Christian, and this creates
issues because there is a different appreciation for it. The catholic Church views the
Eucharist as being more than a symbol (Heintz). To them, it s a special sign that
shows the representation of JesusChrist. The Eucharist represent the body, blood and
soul of Jesus... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This makes it difficult to do intercommunion because it s other Christian receiving the
Eucharist in a church they do not belong to. It defeats the purpose of this sacrament.
According to the code of Canon Law, it is considered illicit or unlawful if a catholic
receives communion from a protestant church because an individual can only be in
full communion with one church (Field). Although they may have an expectation
when it comes to the law such when a dying person request for a communion.
Catholics and Intercommunion: Intercommunion is a very touchy subject by Michael
Heintz talks about a significant difference in belief and practice between Catholics
and other Christian, and these differences still exist. This another reason why
intercommunion is not possible because to part take in communion one must believe
in what the church practice. But if one do not believe in the practice, and have a
practice of their own then one cannot part take in it. This is a major factor when it
comes to the Eucharist because it connecting the individual to the church.
Intercommunion cannot be possible if the churches have a different understanding of
the Eucharist (Heintz). People who do not understand the meaning of the Eucharist
should ask a question before part taking it because it also shows respect. The way a

Octavian of the Second Triumvirate, and the forces of Marcus Junius Brutus and
Gaius Cassius Longinus. Brutus and Cassius were the assassinators of Julius Caesar,
Marc Antony and Octavian were very close allies with Julius Caesarand Octavian
would become the heir to his throne after the assassination. Because of this, Marc

With the arrival of Republican admiral Gnaeus Domitus Ahenobarbus,
communications back to Italy were made very difficult because of the large fleet of
ships that he brought with him which blockaded the triumvirate. These fleets of the
Liberators did not wish to engage in a physical battle with the Triumvirate, but only
to block their communications with their supply base back in Italy. With this
swarming fleet they were able to outflank the Triumvirate and set up their own
defensive positions forcing Norbanus and Saxa to retreat from their positions moving
west giving the Liberators the upper hand at this spot. Brutus and Cassius were able
to gain position on the Via Egnatia on each side with this fleet. To the north and south
were impassable marshes and mountains. Brutus and Cassius then split their forces
each manning a North and South defensive position of the Via Egnatia. After arriving
to the scene, Marc Antony put his troops to the south while Octavian put his troops
to the north, preparing for battle with the Liberators. Marcus Junius Brutus was
always known in history as being too soft of a general. Although he had little
successful battle victories in Thrace and Lycia, he had always been judged as being
lacking in authority when it came to the generalship of his troops. Because of this,
Brutus was commonly referred to as a statesman than a military commander. The

Effects Of Physical Abuse On Elderly
The Effects of Physical Abuse on Married Couples, Children, and the Elderly
Physical abuse is a kind of domestic abuse that deals with children, elderly people,
and even married couples. About 4,000 women each year die due to physical
abuse and approximately 75 percent of women who are killed by their spouse are
murdered when they attempt to leave or after they have left their abusive
relationship. Abuse is a pattern of behaviors; some are physical, mental, emotional
and they are even sometimes like episodes people go through every day. Around 1
in 10 Americans matured 60 years old or more established have encountered some
type of elderly mishandle and the evaluated range is as high as five million older

One way is to learn what the situation is and how dangerous it can get trying to
prevent it. It is important to also know who the abuser is, because whoever keeps
the is the one who most likely is abusing the child. You should only have on stable
babysitter, because you do not want anyone watching your child. If you think your
child is being abused, try talking about it with them. Try to get the child to tell you
what happened and who did it to them. Stay alert is also important, because not only
your babysitter can do the abusing;it could also be a close relative or a friend. Most
importantly you need to get involved and give the children who did not have the
chance to tell their parents, get that chance, because you never know when it is too

Elitism In Government
The ability to compel another person to comply with one s intentions is known as
power. Authority is a form of power that takes its force from legitimacy, political
authority that is assigned by the law or the state through legal documents. The
government is an institution that is based upon authority. There are various ways in
which authoritycan be conferred upon a governmental institution and many opinions
on how it should be used. Thomas Jefferson states that a good governmentshould be

In a government such as Jefferson describes, majoritarian politics is most fitting.
Majoritarian politics generally occurs when the government considers issues
important to the people. The people have more power because pressure from the
majority opinion is exerted on the leader. Meanwhile, elitism occurs when public
opinion is largely absent, giving leaders greater freedom to act in self interest.
There are several theories of elitism: Marxism, which describes power as being in
the hands of business leaders, a view exemplified by the influence held by
American capitalists; the power elite theory, in which key leaders in society control
and are served by the government, can be seen in the influence held by the media
and wealthy members of society; the bureaucratic view, which holds the official as
the vessel of power and hand behind administrative action, and may be exemplified
by members of Congress, who deliberate amongst themselves on matters that may
concern the public; and the pluralist view, which describes various powerful groups
in government and politics as cooperating with each other while being aware of the
public opinion in order to maintain popularity. This is observed in the cooperation
between various branches of government and powerful organizations. Elitism allows
for more self interest. Although a self interested government does not necessarily
dictate that policies will be unbeneficial for the people, it is on the whole detrimental
and less restricted than the ideal Jefferson held for government. A majoritarian
government is best suited to Jefferson s idea of

in place so that proper burial can occur and the odor does not offend society. Also,
the dead bodies have to be far enough from the water supply as to not taint it and
sicken the population. These regulations are in place to protect the people as well as
give proper burial to the dead.

In the show, characters are presented with death at the beginning of each episode and
the rest of the episode is structured around how they cope or maintain a regular life
while managing being exposed to death on a daily basis. I personally believe this
show discusses the idea of funeral directors (and others involved) having a life
outside of death. Also the family members of the funeral directors. What does it do
to you to see death EVERYDAY?
5.What are your personal views on memorial preserves?
I personally have never heard of them until reading this article. I find it very
interesting for this alternative to exist but it is not widely known by individuals. I
have only experienced few immediate deaths in my family and we always said we
wished we had an alternative option. Looking back on it I think my family does
not necessarily visit the tombstone of our loved ones so having somewhere where
their body helps nature would be best option for us. I am very aware that other
cultures or families may not find this to be a perk of their funeral process and
therefore may prefer traditional burial services.
6.What other ideas do you have about alternative, eco friendly funerals?
I think that this existing gives individuals freedom of expression even after passing

SOME INVESTIGATIONS ON THE CORROSION OF IRON
I.
Introduction
Metals undergo natural destruction that allows a spontaneous deteriorating reaction
where they return to their original state from where they are obtained upon contact
with the surrounding, particularly when reacted to oxygen. Such phenomenon is
known as corrosion (Zumdahl, 1998). This leads the surface of the materials to rust
in due time. Usually, this kind of process is electrochemical but is sometimes
accompanied by mechanical and physical stress that causes the metal to corrode
(Heitz et al, 1992).

Discussion
Metals have become one of the most in demand raw materials man has ever used.
Cars, buildings, bridges, and such a like were built through this kind of resources
which contributes to the progress and development of a community.
However, a great consequence on the economic status is incorporated in this
phenomenon. Since metals undergo corrosion that may result to its inefficiency and
inadequateness, billions of dollars are spent just to prevent its occurrence.
It was observed that there are different factors that contribute to the deterioration of
metal, specifically on iron which is widely used in different industrial establishments.
These are the acidity and basicity of solution where the metal will be immersed or be
in contact with, mechanical
What The Hell Is Wrong
Yeah. You re scared because you know that she is going to pick me over you in the
end. Ryan smirked a little and Charlie could feel the anger starting to bubble up
inside him.
Ryan, you re drunk. Charlie shook his head and responded calmly.
You guys aren t dating anymore! Ryan exclaimed and looked around for confirmation
that he wasn t crazy.
Actually, Charlie started to say with a smirk, but was cut off when Ryan s fist
connected with his jaw. Charlie stumbled back a step and rose up to throw a punch
back at him but Scarlett was there all the sudden. She shoved Ryan back with all of
her strength.
What the hell is wrong with you? Why do you have to hate Charlie so much? Scarlett
screamed.
Ryan shook his head at her, let out a big sigh, and walked back into the main club.
Scarlett whirled around and looked at Charlie s face but he just pulled her into him.
He held Scarlett tightly for a moment when his phone started to vibrate in his
pocket. Nikolai s name appeared on his screen as the caller ID along with a picture of
Charlie and Nikolai when Charlie first arrived at the Academy.
Take it outside so that you can hear him. Scarlett whispered and nodded.
You stay right here okay? Charlie demanded as he backed out of the room.
Charlie pressed the answer button and jogged out of the club before bringing the
phone up to his ear. He had gone out the front door and nodded to the bouncer as he
jogged by. Charlie walked back to their cars and propped himself up onto
Lord Of The Flies Society Analysis
Lord of the Flies
In life, there are a lot of things that hold people back from doing what they want to
do. One of the major things is the laws of society. William Golding s novel, Lord of
the flies, illustrates what would happen without society. After the plane crashes on
the abandoned island during World War Two, a group of british boys are left alone
to survive and fight for their ife. When the boys are first dropped off on the island,
they still have their civilized behavior with them. It changes significantly throughout
the novel. Goldings intentions in writing the novel is to show how men are born evil
but rely on society to be kept in check. Without the necessary structure for everyday
life that the industrialized world provides the boys find that, with the lack of
punishment or consequences for their actions, why not do whatever they want. Losing
all care of responsibility and only care about providing themselves personal
gratification. They ate most of the day, picking fruit wherever they could reach it and
not particular about ripeness or quality. They were used now to stomach aches and a
form of chronic diarrhea. Apart from food and sleep, they only found time to play,
aimless and trivial, in the white sand by the bright water. This passage conveys the
lack of motivation that the boys have. It presents them as lazy and unambitious,
having adapted to their current environment and have no internal conflict or problems
with being stuck on a deserted

Roland had a very close relationship with his step father, but his step father dies
when Roland was 16 years old leaving a great emptiness and sense of being alone
inside.
Although Rolnad s mother displayed love and affection to Roland, her parenting
style left Roland with no sense of consequence to his action. Roland believes that
nobody should continue to be upset with him after he apologies. An apology alone,
void of any action, is enough for all to be forgiven and forgotten to Roland. His
biological father had a relationship with him growing up, but he only saw his father
occasionally growing up. Roland resents his father leaving the family when he was
just a young boy and starting a family with a new woman. Isolation is when one
feels completely alone, disconnected, and secluded and it is a process where an idea
or memory is divested of its emotional component (Cooper, 2003).
Death is something that has caused Roland s only male role model and support

emotions he had for his biological father to matesized and to be projected upon others

Roland has a lack of self esteem and feels like he is not worthy of love unless he
forces upon others. This lack of self esteem stems from his father abandoning him
and starting another family to replace him. Roland feels that he was not even good

Getty Museum Vs. A Walk At Dusk
Connected in Origin, but Different in Approach Art is not only about what you
see, it s about what you feel when you look at it. Walking through a museum, it s
like walking through emotions. There are so many different feelings and emotions
you get depending on the work of art you re experiencing. Both works of arts I got
to experience at the Getty museum were very interesting and unique. The first work
of art was A Walk at Dusk (1830 1835) by German artist Caspar David Friedrich
. Its
medium was oil on canvas with dimensions of 33.3 x 43.7 cm. The second work of
art was Mornington Crescent with the Statue of Sickert s Father in law, 1966 by
German artist Frank Auerbach. Its medium was also oil but on a Masonite attached
to auxiliary wooden framework with dimensions of 122 x 152.5 cm. At a first look
both paintings seem extremely different but when you look closer, deep in their core
they are quite similar. Both paintings depict a really meaningful place, but in A Walk

A Walk at Dusk is a very small paintingso you experience it more at a personal
level. One must be really close to it to appreciate it s detail. It s a more inviting
painting, which makes sense since it s more of a spiritual connection the viewers
will have with it. On the opposite the Mornington Crescent is a bigger painting and
it s also intimidating when looking at it. You don t really want to or have to get
close to it. The vibrant and intense colors make it more uncomfortable for the
viewer. This might be done so that the viewers can physically feel what s
happening in the scene, it s not really a place one wants to be at. The emotions
these paintings evoke were very similar. In both painting s you see themes of
darkness and pain. Both portrayed very melancholic events of suffering and sorrow
yet in both you get this small but significant sense of hope that it s the take away
Subjugation Of Women In The Good Earth By Pearl S. Buck
It is not an unknown topic that men are seen to be higher ranking or superior than
women in society, in history and even today. Women can be considered weak or
less intelligent than men; they have a lower pay rate and are not taken seriously in
the work place. In some countries, women are not allowed to drive or own their
own property or house. They are forced to cover themselves from head to toe by
their husband or father. The issue of subjugation of women all over the world, from
the past and the present, is one important theme delivered in The Good Earthby Pearl
S. Buck. The principal character in the novel, Wang Lung, starts out as a poor
farmer living in Ancient China who gained his wealth from his land. His wife O lan
is one of the many female characters who are treated poorly and are held in lower
status than men by not only Wang Lung, but other men and all of society.
To start with, O lan, Wang Lung s wife, was a very selfless, quiet, hardworking
woman who was a house slave in the House of Hwang, a very rich powerful family.
Wang Lung then married her and she lived on his farm. It is overlooked by Wang
Lung throughout the novel how much she has done for him and their family.
Before Wang Lung met O lan, he wanted a wife that will act like a servant and will
deprive him of any responsibilities, and that is exactly what he got. She cleaned the
house, took care of Wang Lung s father and the children, and worked in the fields as
well. She is, however, the only positive
Isis As The Mother Goddess
The push for equality between genders has been a highly disputed topic since the
blossoming of the feminist movement. For years women have felt undervalued and
oppressed because of the standards of success put in place by the patriarchal society.
However, early evidence suggests that females were once renowned through the
archetype of the great goddessbecause of a female s ability to create life through
giving birth, justifying that the mother goddesswould be the most powerful of the
gods (82). The beginning of the rise of the patriarch can be traced back thousands of
years to the myths and legends of the ancient Egyptians and Mespotamians, where the
once revered great goddesses were replaced with male counterparts, often involving
humiliation for the goddess involved.
In Egyptian mythology, Isis is known as the mother goddess and creator of all living
things; the ancient Egyptians would pray to her for bountiful crops because they
relied on her nurturing care for survival (14). Isis is portrayed as a loyal and caring
goddess in her journey to revive her murdered husband throughout the story of
Osiris, Isis, and Horus; she sail[s] up and down the Nile in a papyrus boat, and
wander[s] through the country in order to find her husband s scattered remains,
proving her devotion to him (19). While she has assistance on her journey from
other gods and goddesses, she is the leader in finding Osiris no one else seems to take
interest in reviving the god of Upper and Lower

Bear Hunt Illustration
The children s book We re Going on a Bear Hunt utilises the switching between black
and white illustrations and full colour effectively. The pages of the story that are in
black and white occur when the family meet an obstacle, such as long wavy grass ,
and once they have overcome said obstacle the illustration returns to colour. It repeats
in this manner throughout the picture books entirety. In doing this, the illustrator has
emphasised the texts gloominess and foreboding of what the familywill have to do (
we have to go through it ).
The way this text has been structured by combining the aperture, exposition and
inciting moment. The first sentence We re going on a bearhunt tells the reader what
the story is going to entail whilst giving away what future conflict they could be if
the family were to find a bear. The exposition is also viewed here as the reader,
with the illustrations help, knows that we (the family) are who is involved and it is
a beautiful day in the country. Conflict rises steadily on every second page revealing
a new hurdle the family has to conquer (mud, lake etc) but is resolved immediately
until the climax when the big bear is found and is not happy to see them. As the ...

The Negativity Of The American Education System
The Negativity of the American Education System The American Education System
is not meeting the needs of current students. If anything, the system is not building a
sturdy foundation for the future working class. Schools have existed for many years
and every period they have worked differently. However, every schools main purpose
was to educate students to be efficacious later in life. Modern day schools are
corrupting students with added pressure, standardized tests, making less
accommodations for special educationstudents, not following laws, and take away
individualism from the students . The students of modern times are the people of
our future and the future does not look too bright with the current American
Education System. On the other hand, there is an argument that the education
system provides positive qualities. Some students are actually improving in the
classroom and on standardized tests. In her book, Christina Fisanick found that In
Wisconsin, 87 percent of third graders were reading at grade level or above. This
number was an all time high, and a 13 percent increase over 2002 scores (Fisanick,
17). Success for all is one of many purposes that come from the educational system.
An education reform named No Child Left Behind signed in January of 2002 was to
make sure all students were given the chance to improve. In other words, this act
made educators work even harder to make sure all students were moving on and that
no child was being left
Background Information On Domestic Abuse
Background Information on Domestic Abuse Violence pervades the lives of many
people around the world, and touches all of us in some way. To many people
Domestic abuse was seen as violence that occurred between adults in an intimate or
family relationship. However, through time the definition of domestic abuse
violence became socially constructed. There are two main definitions used in
civilisation today by Home Office and World Health Organizations. Home Office
defines domestic abuse to be any incident or pattern of incidents of controlling,
coercive or threatening behaviour, violence or abuse between those aged 16 or over
who are or have been intimate partners or family members regardless of gender or
sexuality . This specific definition is used throughout the United kingdom, it
emphasizes on the fact that your sexuality and gender does not stop you from
becoming a victim of abuse, when any behaviours mentioned above happens to
anyone 16 and over it is considered by law to be abuse. World Health Organisation
uses the term intimate partner in their definition of domestic abuse, it is any
behaviour within an intimate relationship that causes physical, psychological or
sexual harm to those in that relationship . Both definitions categorise domestic abuse
to include physical aggression, controlling behaviour, emotional and psychological
abuse. The concept of domestic violencebetween intimate partners or family
members has always been a major part of society. However,

Data Encryption
I. What is Data Encryption?
Data encryption describes the transformation of plain text into a different format that
is meaningless read by human eye without being decrypted, so called cipher text, in
order to prevent any unauthorized party to obtain information from the document.
According to the Webster dictionary, cryptography is the practice and study of data
encryption and decryption encoding data so that it can only be decoded by specific
individuals. Crypto is derived from the Greek word kruptos, to hide, from kruptein,
which means hidden and secret. In the old days, people attempted to withhold certain

The next breakthrough in the encryption history happened in 1500BC in Assyria.
Intaglio was used by Assyrian merchants to identify themselves in their business
transactions. Intaglio is a piece or flat stone or gem that has some sort of pattern,
designs or writing engraved on its surface that uniquely identify its owner. The idea of
intaglio is very brilliant and people around the world started to use intaglio in their
trade businesses and even as a popular form of identifications in any written
documents in human history until the past century. In fact, the concept of Intaglio is
so good that modern technology created digital signature based on it. Following,
there were many other significant inventions and progresses in the cryptography
history: Skytales by Greeks, long leather strips that wrapped around when the person
writes and reads; Nomenclator, manipulations of alphabets and etc.
Notice that the US had not yet been mentioned in the ancient history of cryptography.
The US did not contribute much at all to the growth until 18th century AD. In 1790,
Thomas Jefferson invented a wheel cipher with the help of mathematician Dr. Robert
Patterson. This wheel cipher is an elaborate form of code system and this invention
make Thomas Jefferson the pioneer of American Cryptography. This invention was
later on enhanced and modified; a couple generations later, it was used in World War
II.

we have to utilize him in our natural world just at Jesus did. Jesus not only told us
but showed us the way to do it.

The Business Process Outsourcing ( Bpo )
Introduction The Philippines is one of the developing countries presently. It is
poised to become an industrialized country within 5 10 years. The main economic
drivers are the Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) who usually remit on average
$25 Billion a year (www.bsp.gov.ph/Statistics/keystat/ofw.htm). Next to this are the
Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) which is popularly known as call center
business which churns about $18 Billion a year (www.asiabriefing.com/news/2015

sprouting unceasingly signalling that the economy is robust and poised to take off.
Or is it really? This paper will attempt to analyze the travails and missteps of this

The Planet Jay Comes From The Earth
The planet Jay comes from is known as Mir to its inhabitants.
In this universe, there are several sapient species, who originate both in outer space
and on Mir. The human equivalent, mortal species are lovek, who live down on Mir
and, at the time of Jay s entry into Ryslig, are just starting to venture into outer space.
However, besides lovek there are several species that should be discussed in some
detail for a proper understanding of the setting.
Most immortal species in the setting fall under the umbrella of Spirits, based on the
fact they are composed of Spirit (substances relating to magic and the soul) rather
than Flesh (you know, meat). The universe is dualist and most living things within it
fall under one of the two broad categories of Spirit and Flesh.
First, there are the stareczi, who live in deep space and generally stay away from
Mir. They re something akin to sapient fungus (or possibly slimes). They have two
instars (life stages), which dictate their place in society.
The first instar is a haploid, unfused individual that grows from a spore. Unfused
stareczi live in loose groups of about five to ten individuals, though pods as large as
twenty five are not uncommon. The second instar is trickier.
The second instar of stareczi is something between a proper life stage and pair
bonding. At maturity, two haploid stareczi fuse into a single, diploid individual who
is capable of sporing. Fused stareczi are solitary and live away from others of their
Apple Inc. in 2010
Key Success Factors There are several key success factors for Apple, Inc. that have
made it successful in the markets that it competes in. First, the company is constantly
coming up with new and creative innovations. In the personal computer industry, it
created MacBooks in 2009. In the personal media player industry Apple created the
iPod. This followed with the creation of the itunes store, which catapulted iPod sales.
This was due to the fact that consumers could download and store music, movies, and
applications and use iTunes in conjunction with the iPod. In 2007, Apple entered the
smartphone industry by launching the iPhone. Finally, in 2010, Apple introduced the

KSFs in the future Many of the traits that will be required of companies to be
successful in the future of these industries point will remain the same. Technology is
all relative. It is constantly evolving and improving, but the principles remain the
same. Innovation is very important. Apple may run into problems given that it has
begun to simply churn out updated versions of previous products. Companies will
still have to make sure that products are still very consumer friendly. Apple is
positioned well in this element of cause of people s greater familiarity with Apple
products. Apple seems to be well aware of this familiarity and continues to keep its
user programs similar in newer products, while still meeting consumer demand for
more options in products. Likewise, style will always be a very important driver in
the industries that Apple is competitive in. To stay atop these various industries,
Apple must continue to launch products that are stylish and fashionable. Industry
Changes The first industry change is that Samsung has begun to dominate the smart
phone industry, gaining a 46 percent share in the last quarter if 2012 (Brandon, 2013).
Apple will have to make some changes or Samsung s dominance will continue.
Another threat to Apple s success is the emergence of touch laptops. Touch
What Is Yossarian s Point Of View In Catch 22
The novel Catch 22 by Joseph Heller is about a man named Yossarian who during
the second half of World War II, is stationed with his Air Force squadron on the island
of Pianosa, near the Italian coast in the Mediterranean Sea. Yossarian and his friends
endure a nightmarish, absurd existence defined by bureaucracy and violence: they are
inhuman resources in the eyes of their blindly ambitious superior officers. The
squadron is thrown thoughtlessly into brutal combat situations and bombing runs in
which it is more important for the squadron members to capture good aerial
photographs of explosions than to destroy their targets. Their colonels continually
raise the number of missions that they are required to fly before being sent home, so

First, Yossarian discovers that it is possible to be discharged from military service
because of insanity. Always looking for a way out, Yossarian claims that he is
insane, only to find out that by claiming that he is insane he has proved that he is
obviously sane since any sane person would claim that he or she is insane in order to
avoid flying bombing missions. Elsewhere, Catch 22 is defined as a law that is
illegal to read. Ironically, the place where it is written that it is illegal is in Catch
22 itself. It is yet again defined as the law that the enemy is allowed to do anything
that one can t keep him from doing. In short, then, Catch 22 is any paradoxical,
circular reasoning that catches its victim in its illogic and serves those who have
made the law. Catch 22 can be found in the novel not only where it is explicitly
defined but also throughout the characters stories, which are full of catches and
instances of circular reasoning that trap unwitting bystanders in their snares for
instance, the ability of the powerful officer Milo Minderbinder to make great sums of
money by trading among the companies that he himself

The Industrial Revolution In America
Industrial Revolution in America
The industrial revolution in America took place in the nineteenth and twentieth
century. During this period there was mass production, modern technologies were
made, people were getting rich and this made America to be the global superpower
in the world. The united states economy grew fast. America became so rich that mark
twain called it the Gilded Age
Although there Britain was the first to have access to the industrial revolution in the
17th and 18th century, my focus will be on the American industrial revolution.
Industrial revolution came into existence after the end of the civil war. During the
revolution transportation, electricity, and industrial building came into existence and
became very popular and made very significant changes in the nation.
Transportations like the railroad which was linked to different communities and
states was built, steamboats, the Eerie canal, and road were also built. Although
railroad was in existence during the start of the civil war it became more popular
after the end of the civil war.
During the 1860s, the Central Pacific Railroad started building rail track from
Sacramento, California. While the Union Pacific started laying tracks from Nebraska.
In 1869, this made both tracks to meet at a place in Utah, this enabled the united states
to travel by train from the Atlantic Ocean to the Pacific Ocean. The development of
Railroad continued all through the 1800s with rail tracks spreading in different
Anyone Lived In A Pretty How Town Literary Devices
E.E. Cummings uses many different literary devices throughout Anyone Lived in
a Pretty How Town, to explain the setting, as well as the tone of the piece. By
using devices such as imagery, rhymes, and metonymy, Cummings creates the
illusion of a pleasant town, that experiences many seasons together, and is
eventually plagued by a death of a town member. Cummings chooses his diction
carefully in order to make sure the audience is getting the right appearance of the
town, he does so by choosing colorful words that will allow the audience to
imagine the town and it s people. By using phrases such as, Women and men(both
little and small) it shows that the townspeople are very much the same, all small, all
little, not much variation between them. stars rain sun moon(and only the snow can
begin to explain how children are apt to forget to remember with up so floating
many bells down) Phrases such as this also represent the changing of seasons, as
well as the passing of time. Cummings uses these to describe the appearance of the
town, as well as to express time changes.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While the rhyming keeps the poem sounding light and airy, the words within the
rhymes hold a deeper meaning. anyone lived in a pretty how town(with up so
floating many bells down) The poem tells the sad story of a person referred to as
anyone who lived in a pretty town, where there are many bell like objects floating
down, either the sounds coming from a church bell, or bell shaped flowers.
Eventually Anyone dies, and he is left to be buried by the people of the town that
he obviously does not have a close relationship with, all by all and deep by deep
and more by more they dream their sleep The use of rhyme helps to conceal the dark
meaning of the poem from the audience and it is used effectively throughout to mask
the ominous and sad tone of the

Life Accomplishments Of A Wild Elephant
On April 13, 1796, Barnum and Bailey Circus purchased a two year old female,
Asian elephant for one thousand dollars. This is the first of many elephants that were
purchased for the two largest circuses in America, Barnum and Bailey and Ringling
Bros Circus. While today there are only around sixty nine elephants that are still
involved in the circusact, there was at one time approximately three hundred and five.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture oversees the Animal Welfare Act (AWA) and
does not distinguish between zoos and circuses. This implies that the main goals of
the zoos and circuses is the same, to use animals commercially and public exhibition.
Former Ringling Bros. employees Archele Hundley, Margaret Tom, and Robert Tom
Jr. had... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Elephants can walk up to forty miles in the wild, but hardly get enough exercise to
keep them alive in circuses and zoos. They are forced to sleep and walk on concrete
floors and are often on train cars most of their life. This can cause arthritis, foot
abscesses, and other foot and joint dangers.
The average lifespan of a wild elephant is anywhere from sixty to seventy years old.
Because of chronic health problems such as tuberculosis, arthritis, and foot abscesses,
captive elephants are lucky if they live forty years. The oldest captive elephant,
Peaches, died at the age of fifty five in 2005 at the Lincoln Park Zoo. Furthermore,
attempting the breed captive elephants has been highly unsuccessful. Of the five
elephants born in 2003, three of them died within the first twelve months.
Aside from humans, elephants have no natural enemies. When left alone, elephants
are peaceful creatures and not aggressive. Naturally, elephants do not stand on their
hind legs or on their heads or perform tricks you see at the circus. In order to make an
animal perform an act they do not understand, you must literally beat them into
submission. This practices are demeaning, unnatural and cause fear in the elephants.
They are routinely beaten, shocked, abused, and chained for days at a
All Men Are Not Created Equal Summary
As a woman I have always thought that all men were superior to women in a
society viewpoint. Black men superior to black women, Hispanic men superior to
Hispanic women, and of course, white men superior to, well, all women, especially
women of color, and men of color. However, when reading the article All Men Are
Not Created Equal I had realized that Asian men are significantly inferior to Asian
women in western society. I never really thought about the imbalance until just
today, reading the article despite having always seen it in my day to day life. I really
enjoyed how the author, Yen Le Espiritu, focused on the historical reason as to why
Asian women are seen as more valuable in western society than Asian men. I, of
course, had learned about Chinese and Japanese immigration and the Japanese
internment in my high school history class, but I was never taught the societal and
family issues that these events had sparked.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Yet, Asian men had been stripped of their masculinity and power in the household,
causing many of them to become violent, depressed, or both. Not only was society
working against Asian men in a classist perspective, but it was/is also tearing them
down in a sexist regard by not allowing them to be the breadwinner of the
household, like their white counterparts. It was especially interesting to me how
these two articles overlapped into a particularly engaging observation of not only the
social issues of men, but specifically the immense social issues of Asian men.
However, one thing I would have wanted the author of All Men Are Not Created
Equal to elaborate on would be current Asian male status and social

E commerce business continues to skyrocket and when there is money to be made,
criminals are here to follow.
Online stores are the prime targets for cyber crimes. This is not new as the e
commerce websites are more lucrative for the cyber criminals. This is because e

A password which has minimum characters along with symbols and numbers are
harder for cybercriminals to breach into the e commerce site from front end.
Put up System Alert for Suspicious Activity: Set up system alert notice for multiple

these alerts for multiple orders placed by the same person using different credit cards
and phone numbers which are from different areas than billing addresses and orders
where the receipt name is different from the card holder name.
Layer you E commerce Security: Layering your security is one of the best ways to
keep your e business secure from cyber attacks. Put up firewalls, an essential part in
stopping cyber criminals before they can breach and get access to your critical and
sensitive information.
You can add some more extra layers of security to your e commerce site and the
applications such as contact forms, login boxes and search query. These steps will
ensure that your e commerce site is protected from application level attacks like SQL
injections and XSS (Cross site Scripting)
Security Training for Employees: Provide security training to employees and make
them understand that they should never reveal private customer information on email
or in chats as none of these methods are secure.

Conte Poem Analysis Essay
Lenae Gomez
ENG 110.3
Professor Unger
February 11, 2013
Au Contraire In Conte by Marilyn Hacker, Cinderella shows the reader a glimpse
of her life after the childhood tale ends, a less happier ending than the original story
implies. She feels trapped in a constant state of misery and boredom in the royal
palace. Without life experience guiding her, Cinderella is in a dilemma caused by her
ignorance of the potential consequences of her actions. With the use of irony,
structure, and diction, Conte shows how innocence and naГЇvetГ© result in
regrettable mistakes that create life experience. The poem deviates from the basic
fairy tale through the use of ironic predicaments. Cinderella makes a bold statement
from the beginning: ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The poem is in free verse with no meter and consists of twenty eight lines in one
big stanza. The poem has all the elements of a letter with the most conclusive
evidence being at the end of the poem: Yours, C (28). A letter is a personal form of
writing and gives the reader an inside perspective into Cinderella s palace life.
Most of the sentences are declarative sentences, making the exceptions more
obvious in the poem. One of the exceptions is found on lines 17 and 18, where the
sentence ends in an exclamation point: Why not throw it all up, live on the coast
/ and fish, no, no, impossible with wives! The exclamation point emphasizes the
idea that she feels trapped in her situation as a wife. She wants to find a way out of
her misery. On lines 20 and 21 there is a question mark on each line: or cut my hair,
teach (what?) little girls / and live at home with you? Cinderella reiterates that her
options are limited because of her minimal experience in the world. Conte uses a
couple parentheses within mid sentence. Cinderella uses the parentheses to convey
deeper explanation of her thoughts. For example, Cinderella writes, Ladies / ignore
me, or tell me all their petty secrets / (petty because they can t attend meetings)
/ about this man or that (4 7). She does not censor her meaning of petty. Her true
feelings show in the letter and validate the rough situation that Cinderella is stuck in.
At the end, Cinderella asks her
Macbeth Downfall Analysis
Macbeth is a popular play that is known all over the world. William Shakespeare s
play Macbeth is about a nobleman named Macbeth whose ambition is responsible
for his downfall. He is corrupted as a result of his rise to power. Shakespeare
succeeds in getting the audience to love Macbeth despite the fact he is much less
sinned against than sinning. The audience is drawn to Macbethbecause he is
pressured by the witches, does not have a malicious nature, is ambitious, agonizes
between decisions, pressured by his wife, controlled by fear, and dies honourably.
Firstly, readers are drawn to Macbeth because he is pressured by the witches
predictions. In Macbeth s second aside he says, This supernatural soliciting / Cannot

Macbeth says if because he is not certain the plan will go accordingly and be
without any consequences. Macbeth is having second thoughts and is starting to feel
guilty as well as agonizing between choosing a guilt free conscience, or choosing
power and murdering King Duncan. The audience can relate to having to make hard
decisions and is drawn to Macbeth for trying to make the right one despite the
situation he is in.
Furthermore, Macbeth is ambitious. Macbeth ends his first soliloquy by saying, To
prick the sides of my intent, but only / Vaulting ambition which o erleaps itself
/ And falls on th other (1.7.26 28). Macbeth cannot bring himself to action, but is
motivated by the ambition which he knows makes people rush ahead of themselves
usually towards disaster. There is a big difference between Macbeth thinking about
murdering the king and actually killing Duncan. Ambition is also Macbeth s fatal
flaw, it is what drives him but will also ruin him. The audience can admire Macbeth s
ambition because it is a good characteristic.
Not only is Macbeth being influenced by the witches predictions, he is also being
pressured by his wife, Lady Macbeth. She says, When you durst do it, then you were
a man (1.7.49). Lady Macbeth questions Macbeth s manliness, which in the time
period the play was written was important and a big deal. Macbeth does not want his

  • 1. Personal Culture Essay Crafting a "Personal Culture Essay" can be both a challenging and rewarding endeavor. The difficulty lies not only in the task of introspection but also in effectively translating your cultural experiences into a coherent and engaging written piece. One must delve deep into their background, upbringing, traditions, values, and the myriad of influences that have shaped their identity. The complexity arises from the subjective nature of personal culture; it is a unique amalgamation of individual experiences, familial influences, societal factors, and personal reflections. Articulating these aspects requires a delicate balance between self-disclosure and maintaining a level of objectivity. Striking this balance is akin to navigating a fine line between being too personal and detached. Furthermore, the challenge extends to expressing cultural nuances with clarity, avoiding stereotypes, and fostering a genuine connection with the reader. It involves transcending the surface and delving into the profound impact of culture on one's beliefs, perspectives, and interactions with the world. Writing a personal culture essay demands thoughtful consideration of how culture intertwines with various aspects of life, shaping beliefs, relationships, and even aspirations. The difficulty lies in not merely recounting experiences but in analyzing their significance, making connections, and illustrating personal growth. In conclusion, navigating the intricacies of a "Personal Culture Essay" involves a profound exploration of one's identity, experiences, and the cultural tapestry that weaves them together. It's a challenge that requires self-reflection, cultural sensitivity, and effective communication skills. The reward, however, is a rich narrative that not only provides insight into the author's identity but also fosters a deeper understanding of the diverse ways in which culture influences our lives. • 2. change management plan Change Management Plan MBA 520 Mia Johnson University of Phoenix August 25, 2008 For many organizations, change is necessary in order to grow and succeed. Change forces the organization to review strengths and weaknesses that may have an impact on the organization during the changes that may occur. For this reason, having a change model and an effective leader are crucial to having a smooth transition when making changes. CrysTel, a telecommunications company with high employee strength, is planning to implement a range of emerging telecommunications technologies in a bid to increase the product offerings in the market. At CrysTel, change is likely to occur and the company has to make sure that the right steps are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Another reason why communication would be important is to help in resolving conflicts that may occur. Both the Sales and Delivery and Marketing departments did not have effective conflict resolution processes that could be used. The Sales Department only wanted issues to be raised during the semi annual performance reviews and that was not good. Things may happen long before this review takes place and something needs to be available as a resource to solving the problem. Building a conflict resolution team for each department would be valuable. Like the other departments, Sales and Delivery and Marketing would both be able to discuss any issues at any given time if a process like this were made available. This would cause communication to increase as well as make the jobs more flexible. An employer who is serious about change management, Hiatt says, has to have a structured, proactive approach that includes communication, a road map for the sponsors of the change, training programs that go along with the overall project and a plan for dealing with resistance, (HR Magazine, 2007). A training program would also need to be put in place for the employees in the Marketing department. Being that this department has poor performance and the employees feel as if performance would be better if job roles and objectives were defined, a training program would be very
  • 3. Essay Shylock of William Shakespeare s The Merchant of Venice Shylock of William Shakespeare s The Merchant of Venice Shylock is one of the main characters in Shakespeare s play The Merchant of Venice , he starts in the play as an outcast of society because he is Jewish. Shylock has been forced to become a banker in his life as an inhabitant of Venice, for the fact that his religion is seen as wrong. Although Shylock is forced to become a banker he plays a vital role in the city of Venice, without Shylock the city would struggle economically. From an early point in the play Shakespeare makes Shylock look like a money loving fiend, Shylocks first words in the play are Three Thousand ducats. This line shows that Shylocks life revolves around money. The... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Shylock seems to show that he wants something to go wrong for Antonio and Shylock feels that he deserves revenge. Seeing that Shylock is so eager to secure revenge upon any one he can, the audience is lead to believe that Shylock is a deeper and darker person than previously believed. Not only do all characters in the play feel something about Shylock is wrong but so does the audience. As Shylock is portrayed as a dark and mysterious character there is little support for him until it becomes apparent that there is more reason for Shylock to seek revenge than previously believed. In Act I scene III after the deal to lend Antonio three thousand ducats is secured Bassanio asks Shylock to dine with him but Shylock is quick to turn down the offer, as Bassanio would insult Shylocks religion if the food were not kosher. Shylock turns down the offer of dinner for a fairly strong reason, but once Antonio arrives in person Shylock gives more reason to be disliked. Antonio and friends are stood in a group when Shylock turns away and under his breath says, I hate him for he is a Christian. Although Shylock is turned away from the group Antonio still hears his spiteful words. This shows the villainous side to Shylock and although the reasons for such dislike towards Antonio and friends is just, there is no need for the

For one of the most important concerns I have the education of my children my choices are limited. The government s rigid control over public education choice has got to stop. While it is true I can send my child to a private school, I must incur costs above and beyond what I already provide to society for public education through taxes. I can afford this; many people cannot. Those people have no choice. Is choice desirable? Yes. As expressed by the Constitution of the United States, our capitalistic society certainly believes so. Teachers believe so. Teachers in public schools in large cities are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... My beliefs of what schools must do to be successful fall with the reinvention approach described by Finn and Ravitch (1995). Finn and Ravitch detail the reinvention paradigm with the following tenants: * decentralized control, * entrepreneurial management, and * grassroots initiatives. All these tenants fall within a framework of publicly defined standards and accountability. These standards must be both comprehensive and minimal a difficult but not impossible conundrum to address. This approach would truly give us the diversity Americans are so proud of and continually demand. On top of the Finn and Ravitch framework I would add accessibility for all students to the school of choice. Public schools must be open to the public, financed by the public, and educationally and fiscally accountable to the public. I would like to see private educational institutions continue to thrive. They are a necessary pressure relief valve for certain portions of our society. Private schools could continue as they have, or, if they wanted access to public funds, they would have to agree to the mandates the public would impose on them. I believe in parental choice in public education, but choice in and of itself is not enough. All parents regardless of socio economic status must be able to access the school of their choice. They must have the financial capability to send their

Although hereditary environment has always been a deciding factor in determining our future, yet majority of us hardly even bothered to look over these factors. In this assignment I am trying to develop my understanding about how hereditary environment has affected the people around me and referring to some journals in order to highlight the theoretical part as well. I have tried to draw a conclusion based on my personal and professional experience. Defining Hereditary Introduction and meaning Heredity is one of the powerful factors that contribute to the formation of human personality. It influences man s social behavior too too. It is through the process of heredity that children normally get some of the physical and psychological characteristics of their parents. Heredity refers to the biological process of transmission of certain biological and psychological characteristics from parents to their children through what are known as genes. Human society is not only dynamic but also diverse. Differences are found between societies and between societies and within the same society among the peoples and groups. In fact, society is based on the principle of difference.

The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo You may have heard that everything is bigger in Texas. and if you really want to experience how everything is bigger, you go to the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo (HLSR). The HLSR, or Houston Rodeo as it is referred to by Houstonians, is the largest event of its kind in the world and has been in session since 1932. In 2013, The HLSR had more people in attendance (approx 2.6 million) at the Rodeo than the entire population of the city of Houston (approx 2.1 million), which happens to be the 4th largest city in the United States as well as the most populated city in the state of Texas. The HLSR is held at Reliant Parkfor three weeks during March, and since parking is always a hassle, Reliant Park also happens to have one of the largest parking lots available as well. After arriving in Reliant Park and taking an hour to find a parking spot, nothing seems amiss. Hell, at this point, all you see is signs for Rodeo Houston pointing this way and that way ; it s honestly a little overbearing at first. The HLSR consists of many events going on simultaneously: the Rodeo, Livestock shows, Concerts, a BBQ contest, and even a carnival. Upon entering one of the many buildings in Reliant Park, however, the atmosphere changes completely according to where you go. The people, smells, and even noises are all different. • 9. Trichinella Lab Report OUTBREAK REPORT ON TRICHINOSIS EPIDEMIC IN FRANCE SUMMARY INTRODUCTION/BACKGROUND Trichinosis also referred to as trichinellosis is caused by ingesting the larvae of the parasitic roundworm species called Trichinella. The infection commonly occurs after eating raw or undercooked meat from animals such as domestic pigs or wild boar, horses, bear or cougar. The Trichinella larvae will form a cyst within the striated muscles of these animals and once ingested will mature into adult worms in the small intestine after 1 2 days. These adult worms will mate and produce eggs, which will then develop into larvae that cross into the blood system and migrate to striated muscles where they form cysts. • 10. An Assortment of Memories, a Myriad of Histories American society has traditionally been referred to as a melting pot, welcoming people of all races, religions, and heritages to enjoy the freedom that only America could provide. That was not always the case, as incidents such as the internment of Japanese Americans at Manzanar and the Lewis and Clark journey along the Columbia River exhibited American racial intolerance and demonstrated the inherent racism of the Manifest Destiny an ideal upon which this nation was founded. Today, government agencies such as the National Park Service (NPS) aim to repair the United Statesnegative reputation by creating national historic sites, which serve as either a celebration of American historyor an apologetic reminder of events that can never... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is a major reason why the National Park Service essentially contradicts itself and fails in its goals to create a unified history for all Americans. The treatment of memory at the Manzanar historical site specifically shows that the way in which the National Park Service treats historical sites containing foreign heritage will never be able to create a single, shared history for all Americans. One source of tension derivative of this project is the grossly generic incorporation of specific stories within Manzanar in its conversion from purely a site of tragic memory to a site of National memory. The production of this national memory tends to absorb the meaning of individual and group histories, especially when that group represents an ethnic minority (Hayashi 55). This absorption ignores specific stories of Japanese immigrant experience at the site, creating a universally incorrect generic representation of the experience and painting an incomplete picture of the events that occurred there. To paint an incomplete picture of a historical site is to contest the memories of the ethnic minorities who were there. When asked about this limited representation of Japanese immigrant history represented at the site, Jerry Rogers, Associate Director of Cultural Resources for the National Park Service, stated
  • 11. To Build A Fire By Jack London You should never dive into life or death situations unprepared and ill informed on how to take action given a common problem you could come across because it really could be your life on the line. Actions are the main factor in your survival and because of that fact, survival is your own responsibility. Alternatively, there are some situations where you really have no control and are at the mercy of nature. But, regardless people should be held accountable for their actions in situations that deal with life and death because your actions directly affect you. Your decisions also affect other people, for instance, in a storywhere a German caver needed to be saved the operation to extract him from underground included 728 people who weren t even payed in the end.... On the contrary someone could say that even being alert and having a partner with him the man might not have made it out of the situation alive. There were three different reasons that brought Irish to America. The first was the early medieval Christian church. The second was the fight of the Roman Catholic nobility. The third and final was the great potato famine, which was the greatest mass emigration ever. The first and second reason the Irish immigrated was mostly caused by conditions after 1717 that began to grow uneasy. • 13. Intercommunion Research Paper Intercommunion has been a major discussion when it comes to the uniting the Christian churches. Intercommunion is when non Catholic Christian receive the Eucharist/communion in the catholic church or when other Christian receive communions in a different church. Although the reason behind intercommunion is for uniting the different churches, it still challenges belief and practices. The Catholic Churchviewpoint of the Eucharistis different from other Christian, and this creates issues because there is a different appreciation for it. This makes it difficult to do intercommunion because it s other Christian receiving the Eucharist in a church they do not belong to. It defeats the purpose of this sacrament. Although they may have an expectation when it comes to the law such when a dying person request for a communion. Catholics and Intercommunion: Intercommunion is a very touchy subject by Michael Heintz talks about a significant difference in belief and practice between Catholics and other Christian, and these differences still exist. This another reason why intercommunion is not possible because to part take in communion one must believe in what the church practice. But if one do not believe in the practice, and have a practice of their own then one cannot part take in it. This is a major factor when it comes to the Eucharist because it connecting the individual to the church. With the arrival of Republican admiral Gnaeus Domitus Ahenobarbus, communications back to Italy were made very difficult because of the large fleet of ships that he brought with him which blockaded the triumvirate. These fleets of the Liberators did not wish to engage in a physical battle with the Triumvirate, but only to block their communications with their supply base back in Italy. With this swarming fleet they were able to outflank the Triumvirate and set up their own defensive positions forcing Norbanus and Saxa to retreat from their positions moving west giving the Liberators the upper hand at this spot. Brutus and Cassius were able to gain position on the Via Egnatia on each side with this fleet. To the north and south were impassable marshes and mountains. Brutus and Cassius then split their forces each manning a North and South defensive position of the Via Egnatia. After arriving to the scene, Marc Antony put his troops to the south while Octavian put his troops to the north, preparing for battle with the Liberators. Marcus Junius Brutus was always known in history as being too soft of a general. Although he had little successful battle victories in Thrace and Lycia, he had always been judged as being lacking in authority when it came to the generalship of his troops. Because of this, Brutus was commonly referred to as a statesman than a military commander. The other Liberator commander, Gaius

In a government such as Jefferson describes, majoritarian politics is most fitting. Majoritarian politics generally occurs when the government considers issues important to the people. The people have more power because pressure from the majority opinion is exerted on the leader. Meanwhile, elitism occurs when public opinion is largely absent, giving leaders greater freedom to act in self interest. There are several theories of elitism: Marxism, which describes power as being in the hands of business leaders, a view exemplified by the influence held by American capitalists; the power elite theory, in which key leaders in society control and are served by the government, can be seen in the influence held by the media and wealthy members of society; the bureaucratic view, which holds the official as the vessel of power and hand behind administrative action, and may be exemplified by members of Congress, who deliberate amongst themselves on matters that may concern the public; and the pluralist view, which describes various powerful groups in government and politics as cooperating with each other while being aware of the public opinion in order to maintain popularity. This is observed in the cooperation between various branches of government and powerful organizations. Elitism allows for more self interest. Although a self interested government does not necessarily dictate that policies will be unbeneficial for the people, it is on the whole detrimental and less restricted than the ideal Jefferson held for government. A majoritarian government is best suited to Jefferson s idea of

Regulations for corpse disposition are implemented because when the body dies it begins to decompose which results in a foul odor. Introduction Metals undergo natural destruction that allows a spontaneous deteriorating reaction where they return to their original state from where they are obtained upon contact with the surrounding, particularly when reacted to oxygen. Such phenomenon is known as corrosion (Zumdahl, 1998). This leads the surface of the materials to rust in due time. Women can be considered weak or less intelligent than men; they have a lower pay rate and are not taken seriously in the work place. In some countries, women are not allowed to drive or own their own property or house. They are forced to cover themselves from head to toe by their husband or father. The issue of subjugation of women all over the world, from the past and the present, is one important theme delivered in The Good Earthby Pearl S. Buck. The principal character in the novel, Wang Lung, starts out as a poor farmer living in Ancient China who gained his wealth from his land. His wife O lan is one of the many female characters who are treated poorly and are held in lower status than men by not only Wang Lung, but other men and all of society. To start with, O lan, Wang Lung s wife, was a very selfless, quiet, hardworking woman who was a house slave in the House of Hwang, a very rich powerful family. Wang Lung then married her and she lived on his farm. It is overlooked by Wang Lung throughout the novel how much she has done for him and their family. Before Wang Lung met O lan, he wanted a wife that will act like a servant and will deprive him of any responsibilities, and that is exactly what he got. She cleaned the house, took care of Wang Lung s father and the children, and worked in the fields as well. She is, however, the only positive
  • 31. Isis As The Mother Goddess The push for equality between genders has been a highly disputed topic since the blossoming of the feminist movement. For years women have felt undervalued and oppressed because of the standards of success put in place by the patriarchal society. However, early evidence suggests that females were once renowned through the archetype of the great goddessbecause of a female s ability to create life through giving birth, justifying that the mother goddesswould be the most powerful of the gods (82). The beginning of the rise of the patriarch can be traced back thousands of years to the myths and legends of the ancient Egyptians and Mespotamians, where the once revered great goddesses were replaced with male counterparts, often involving humiliation for the goddess involved. In Egyptian mythology, Isis is known as the mother goddess and creator of all living things; the ancient Egyptians would pray to her for bountiful crops because they relied on her nurturing care for survival (14). Isis is portrayed as a loyal and caring goddess in her journey to revive her murdered husband throughout the story of Osiris, Isis, and Horus; she sail[s] up and down the Nile in a papyrus boat, and wander[s] through the country in order to find her husband s scattered remains, proving her devotion to him (19). If anything, the system is not building a sturdy foundation for the future working class. Schools have existed for many years and every period they have worked differently. However, every schools main purpose was to educate students to be efficacious later in life. Modern day schools are corrupting students with added pressure, standardized tests, making less accommodations for special educationstudents, not following laws, and take away individualism from the students . The students of modern times are the people of our future and the future does not look too bright with the current American Education System. On the other hand, there is an argument that the education system provides positive qualities. Some students are actually improving in the classroom and on standardized tests. In her book, Christina Fisanick found that In Wisconsin, 87 percent of third graders were reading at grade level or above. This number was an all time high, and a 13 percent increase over 2002 scores (Fisanick, 17). Success for all is one of many purposes that come from the educational system. An education reform named No Child Left Behind signed in January of 2002 was to make sure all students were given the chance to improve. In other words, this act made educators work even harder to make sure all students were moving on and that no child was being left

In this universe, there are several sapient species, who originate both in outer space and on Mir. The human equivalent, mortal species are lovek, who live down on Mir and, at the time of Jay s entry into Ryslig, are just starting to venture into outer space. However, besides lovek there are several species that should be discussed in some detail for a proper understanding of the setting. Most immortal species in the setting fall under the umbrella of Spirits, based on the fact they are composed of Spirit (substances relating to magic and the soul) rather than Flesh (you know, meat). The universe is dualist and most living things within it fall under one of the two broad categories of Spirit and Flesh. First, there are the stareczi, who live in deep space and generally stay away from Mir. They re something akin to sapient fungus (or possibly slimes). They have two instars (life stages), which dictate their place in society. The first instar is a haploid, unfused individual that grows from a spore. Unfused stareczi live in loose groups of about five to ten individuals, though pods as large as twenty five are not uncommon. The second instar is trickier. The second instar of stareczi is something between a proper life stage and pair bonding. At maturity, two haploid stareczi fuse into a single, diploid individual who is capable of sporing. Fused stareczi are solitary and live away from others of their

They are forced to sleep and walk on concrete floors and are often on train cars most of their life. This can cause arthritis, foot abscesses, and other foot and joint dangers. The average lifespan of a wild elephant is anywhere from sixty to seventy years old. Because of chronic health problems such as tuberculosis, arthritis, and foot abscesses, captive elephants are lucky if they live forty years. Black men superior to black women, Hispanic men superior to Hispanic women, and of course, white men superior to, well, all women, especially women of color, and men of color. However, when reading the article All Men Are Not Created Equal I had realized that Asian men are significantly inferior to Asian women in western society. I never really thought about the imbalance until just today, reading the article despite having always seen it in my day to day life. I really enjoyed how the author, Yen Le Espiritu, focused on the historical reason as to why Asian women are seen as more valuable in western society than Asian men. I, of course, had learned about Chinese and Japanese immigration and the Japanese internment in my high school history class, but I was never taught the societal and family issues that these events had sparked.... It was especially interesting to me how these two articles overlapped into a particularly engaging observation of not only the social issues of men, but specifically the immense social issues of Asian men. However, one thing I would have wanted the author of All Men Are Not Created Equal to elaborate on would be current Asian male status and social

Conte Poem Analysis Essay Lenae Gomez ENG 110.3 Professor Unger February 11, 2013 Au Contraire In Conte by Marilyn Hacker, Cinderella shows the reader a glimpse of her life after the childhood tale ends, a less happier ending than the original story implies. She feels trapped in a constant state of misery and boredom in the royal palace. Without life experience guiding her, Cinderella is in a dilemma caused by her ignorance of the potential consequences of her actions. With the use of irony, structure, and diction, Conte shows how innocence and naГЇvetГ© result in regrettable mistakes that create life experience. The poem deviates from the basic fairy tale through the use of ironic predicaments. Cinderella makes a bold statement from the beginning: ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The poem is in free verse with no meter and consists of twenty eight lines in one big stanza. The poem has all the elements of a letter with the most conclusive evidence being at the end of the poem: Yours, C (28). A letter is a personal form of writing and gives the reader an inside perspective into Cinderella s palace life. Most of the sentences are declarative sentences, making the exceptions more obvious in the poem. One of the exceptions is found on lines 17 and 18, where the sentence ends in an exclamation point: Why not throw it all up, live on the coast / and fish, no, no, impossible with wives! The exclamation point emphasizes the idea that she feels trapped in her situation as a wife. She wants to find a way out of her misery. On lines 20 and 21 there is a question mark on each line: or cut my hair, teach (what?) little girls / and live at home with you? Cinderella reiterates that her options are limited because of her minimal experience in the world. Conte uses a couple parentheses within mid sentence. Cinderella uses the parentheses to convey deeper explanation of her thoughts. For example, Cinderella writes, Ladies / ignore me, or tell me all their petty secrets / (petty because they can t attend meetings) / about this man or that (4 7). She does not censor her meaning of petty. Her true feelings show in the letter and validate the rough situation that Cinderella is stuck in. At the end, Cinderella asks her
