1. Personal Profile
These students have their sights set on BYU. They have been preparing to come to BYU for years, and grew up in an environment that encouraged them to prepare for it. They are extremely involved in extracurricular activities, leadership positions, community service, etc. Even though they are very busy with these pursuits, they perform extremely well academically. They get good grades, and have always been high achievers. They most likely challenge themselves academically by taking AP/IB, honors, or more difficult college courses.
These are students who excel in whatever they get involved in—whether that be athletics, music, etc.—they are winning awards, they are team captains, they do not settle for mediocre performance. They tend to be very competitive. Their main focus is getting into college—and they still have a lot of development to do beyond that. They most likely have career goals in mind, but have planned more for college as opposed to a specific career.
These students are very goal oriented. They know how to set goals, and what it takes to accomplish them. They like a good challenge. They are very social and time spent with friends is very valuable at this point in their lives.
Though the majority are high school age, some will be prospective transfer students. These students are also usually set on getting into BYU, and study hard to get good grades. They are very involved in church service and social activities, but spend a lot of their extra time studying as opposed to getting overly involved in more extracurricular pursuits.
