We studied 80 CPG brands (Coke, Nestle, Unilever, P&G, Tesco, Amazon, Walmart) from the athletics, alcoholic beverages, fashion and luxury, food and non-alcoholic beverages, personal care, and snacks and chocolates categories. The selection of brands represent a sampling of brands that are very active in social media, those that are ramping up their social activity, and those that are not yet active.We also monitored the five retailers that are most active in social media.
Overview: Many companies’ social media efforts are not designed to increase sales or even facilitate socializing. Fan pages and brand communities many times look more like broadcast vehicles than interactive social vehicles.
The bottom line is that companies may need to revisit their social media strategy to generate engagement and move from pure social listening capability to derive actionable insights across departments.

The server will be synced daily with a global server (we are looking for cloud based hosting platforms such as Windows Azure or amazon web services). We have to build the trace functionality (Track n TRACE) by building a web interface where a person with the UID can trace the shipment.
We have to keep historical records for as long as 10 years and build logic on basis of the UID state. We have to provide the details from the database as in when was this package manufactured, when was it shipped, etc. If the UID entered is faulty for example; it wasn’t ever manufactured or if it is over its expiration date then we have to generate corresponding errors and also maintain a log of such entries and send notification to the admins with details of IP, Geography or where the error generated.

An Integrated Framework for Parameter-based Optimization of Scientific Workflowsvijayskumar
Data analysis processes in scientific applications can be expressed as coarse-grain workflows of complex data processing operations with data flow dependencies between them. Performance optimization of these workflows can be viewed as a search for a set of optimal values in a multi-dimensional parameter space. While some performance parameters such as grouping of workflow components and their mapping to machines do not affect the accuracy of the output, others may dictate trading the output quality of individual components (and of the whole workflow) for performance. This paper describes an integrated framework which is capable of supporting performance optimizations along multiple dimensions of the parameter space. Using two real-world applications in the spatial data analysis domain, we present an experimental evaluation of the proposed framework.

The document proposes an approach called APPEAR for predicting software performance in component-based systems. APPEAR uses both structural and statistical modeling techniques. It consists of two main parts: (1) calibrating a statistical regression model by measuring performance of existing applications, and (2) using the calibrated model to predict performance of new applications. Both parts are based on a model that describes relevant execution properties in terms of a "signature". The method supports flexible choice of parts modeled structurally versus statistically. It is being validated on two industrial case studies.

The continuous evolution from software intensive systems to socio-technical ecosystems requires creative approaches where services and, interactions are implemented with awareness of, and dynamic adaptation to, not only the user and computational environment, but also changing policies and unknown requirements. In this endeavour, the capability of the system to adjust its behavior in response to its perception of the environment and the system itself in the form of fully or semi-automatic self-adaptation has become one of the most promising research directions. Consequently, understanding, modeling, acquiring, managing, and controlling dynamic computing systems is critical for implementing smart services and smart interactions effectively.
In this directed studies, we will explore design and evolution of dynamic computing systems. In particular, we will investigate how to monitor, analyze, and control dynamic computing systems. Moreover, we will study techniques for instrumenting existing systems to monitor and control dynamic computing systems.
An Integrated Framework for Parameter-based Optimization of Scientific Workflowsvijayskumar
Data analysis processes in scientific applications can be expressed as coarse-grain workflows of complex data processing operations with data flow dependencies between them. Performance optimization of these workflows can be viewed as a search for a set of optimal values in a multi-dimensional parameter space. While some performance parameters such as grouping of workflow components and their mapping to machines do not affect the accuracy of the output, others may dictate trading the output quality of individual components (and of the whole workflow) for performance. This paper describes an integrated framework which is capable of supporting performance optimizations along multiple dimensions of the parameter space. Using two real-world applications in the spatial data analysis domain, we present an experimental evaluation of the proposed framework.
