LEARNING TARGETS
At the end of this unit, the learners should be able
to do the following:
● Distinguish aerobic from muscle- and bone-strengthening activities.
● Engage in moderate to vigorous physical activities (MPVAs) for at least 60
minutes most days of the week in a variety of settings in and out of school.
● Demonstrate proper etiquette and safety in the use of facilities and equipment.
3
VALUES AND ATTITUDES
In this unit, the learners should be able to do the
following:
● Appreciate the importance of regular physical activity and exercise in
maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
● Develop a sense of responsibility for following safety measures during
exercise.
● Cultivate the habit of self-assessment before engaging in physical
activities.

3 KINDS OF STRENGTHS
1. Static Strength
● utilized to apply force to immovable objects
● classified as isometric activity; muscles maintain the same length
● limited muscle movement involved
● observed in activities like arm wrestling and rugby scrum
Plank Bridge Side Bridge Hundred Exercise
11
2. Explosive Strength
● applies force in short, rapid movements
● utilized in activities like javelin throw and high jump
Jumping Throwing Kicking
3 KINDS OF STRENGTHS
12
3. Dynamic Strength
● involves consistent force application over extended periods
● related to muscle endurance
● helps muscles resist fatigue under prolonged exertion
● employed in activities like press-ups and cycling
3 KINDS OF STRENGTHS
Reverse Lunge Knee Blocks
Basic Squat
Elbow to Instep (Kneeling)

3 Major Types of Stretching
1. Static Stretching
● Muscles are stretched to a
certain point.
● The stretched position is held
for several seconds.
14
3 Major Types of Stretching
2. Ballistic Stretching
● extending or pushing the
range of motion of the limbs
15
3. Dynamic Stretching
● involves slow, repeated limb
movements
● aims to enhance flexibility
and strength

COMPARISON
Aerobic Activity
Muscle- and Bone- Strengthening
Activity
It strengthens the circulatory
system.
It tones the muscles and boosts the
density of the bones.
It increases the intake of oxygen for
energy consumption.
It consumes the stored energy in the
muscles.
It raises the heart rate for a longer
period of time.
It involves intense workouts.
18
Aerobic Activity
Muscle- and Bone- Strengthening
Activity
It is also known as cardiovascular
exercise.
It is also known as weight or
resistance training.
It includes activities like brisk
walking, running, dancing, jogging,
cycling, swimming, and so on.
It involves weightlifting, pull-ups,
push-ups, planks, stretching, etc.

  1. Teacher’s script: “Good day, class! I hope you are all ready for an exciting and informative lesson today. Welcome to Unit 1, where we will explore the many benefits and importance of exercise. In this lesson, we will learn why exercise is worthwhile, important, safe, and engaging.””
  2. Teacher’s script: “Here are the learning targets for this unit.
  3. Teacher’s script: “Listed here are what you are expected to do as part of our values and attitudes integration. You have two minutes to go through them silently. Let me know if you have any questions.”
  4. Teacher’s script: “Here are the learning targets for this lesson.”
  5. Teacher’s script: “Let us have an activity to demonstrate our lesson. Listen carefully to the following instructions: Refer to the different stations around the classroom, each focusing on a different aspect of muscle and bone health. Examine the provided information and activities related to the topic at each station. I will assign one person per station to act as a guide. The guide will read the information aloud and lead the activity at the station. The rest of the class should form groups and go to their assigned stations. I will give you time to explore the station before moving on to the next one. After all groups have visited all stations, let us have a discussion. Are you ready?”
  6. Teacher’s script:
  7. Teacher’s script: Randomly call learnes for their key takeaways. Use these questions as your guide: What are the things that you will stop doing? What are the things that you will start doing? What are the things that you will continue doing?
