Musical Theatre Techniques – PEER/TEACHER OBSERVATION
Instructions – Give this sheet to another member of the group/teacher. Ask them to
complete the first two sections and you must complete the response in the third section.
 Name of observer: Phoebe Barr
 Name of performer being observed: Rae Laville-Farrant
 Workshop/Rehearsal: Rent – 19th April
 The observer must make comment on each of the following
1. Professional Attitude Comments
Punctuality & Attendance Rae always attends rehearsals and is
always on time ready to rehearse.
Readiness to Work Rae is always in the correct attire for
our Rent rehearsals and has normally
warmed her voice up ready to start
rehearsing.
Communication with other company
members during the rehearsal
Rae is quite quiet during our Rent
rehearsals as singing is not one of her
strong points as she lacks a lot of
confidence in her singing. This means
that she does have a lack of
communication with other group
members during rehearsals as she lacks
a lot of confidence in her singing.
Focus and attitude during the rehearsal Rae often gets quite unfocused during
our rent rehearsals as most of the time
we are working slowly through
different parts of the song, and she is
someone who likes to work very fast
and gets bored very easily, which
means she can lose focus at times.
BTEC PERFORMING ARTS
Ability to take on board feedback from
other company members and use it to
improve own work
Rae is quite good at taking on board
feedback from other group members,
as although singing is not something
she enjoys, she still strives to do her
best and is always looking to improve
her singing skills.
2. Performer response – will you make any changes to your working practises
following this observation? Be specific
After reading through my peer observation sheet from Phoebe, I have picked up that I
definitely need to be more positive and engaged during our Rent singing rehearsals as my
lack in engagement is clearly showing to my peers which does not have a positive impact on
the group. I also think I need to be more confident in myself when singing as it is noticeable
to other group members that I lack confidence when singing.

  • 1. BTEC PERFORMING ARTS Musical Theatre Techniques – PEER/TEACHER OBSERVATION Instructions – Give this sheet to another member of the group/teacher. Ask them to complete the first two sections and you must complete the response in the third section.  Name of observer: Phoebe Barr  Name of performer being observed: Rae Laville-Farrant  Workshop/Rehearsal: Rent – 19th April  The observer must make comment on each of the following 1. Professional Attitude Comments Punctuality & Attendance Rae always attends rehearsals and is always on time ready to rehearse. Readiness to Work Rae is always in the correct attire for our Rent rehearsals and has normally warmed her voice up ready to start rehearsing. Communication with other company members during the rehearsal Rae is quite quiet during our Rent rehearsals as singing is not one of her strong points as she lacks a lot of confidence in her singing. This means that she does have a lack of communication with other group members during rehearsals as she lacks a lot of confidence in her singing. Focus and attitude during the rehearsal Rae often gets quite unfocused during our rent rehearsals as most of the time we are working slowly through different parts of the song, and she is someone who likes to work very fast and gets bored very easily, which means she can lose focus at times.

BTEC PERFORMING ARTS Ability to take on board feedback from other company members and use it to improve own work Rae is quite good at taking on board feedback from other group members, as although singing is not something she enjoys, she still strives to do her best and is always looking to improve her singing skills. 2. Performer response – will you make any changes to your working practises following this observation? Be specific After reading through my peer observation sheet from Phoebe, I have picked up that I definitely need to be more positive and engaged during our Rent singing rehearsals as my lack in engagement is clearly showing to my peers which does not have a positive impact on the group. I also think I need to be more confident in myself when singing as it is noticeable to other group members that I lack confidence when singing.
