BTEC PERFORMING ARTS
Musical Theatre - PEER OBSERVATION
Instructions - Give this sheet to another member of the group. Ask them to fill in the
first two sections and you must fill in the response in the third section.
Name of observer: Evie Carrington
Name of performer being observed: Ria Back
Workshop/Rehearsal: For Good- Wicked (first full run through)
The observer must make comments on each of the following:
1. Professional Attitude
Comments
Punctuality & Attendance Ria is always punctual and ready to
work.
Readiness to Work Ria is always prepared to work and is
always the first person to speak up
when she feels we need to work on
something, and always voices her
ideas.
Communication with other company
members during the rehearsal
Ria is always helpful when it comes to
practising the higher octave notes for
good and she is very patient when I feel
I need to rehearse my parts or go over it
a few times.
Focus and attitude during the rehearsal Ria is always focused during our
rehearsals and always does a quick
vocal warm up to ensure she does not
strain her voice.
Ability to take on board feedback from
other company members and use it to
improve own work
Ria is good at taking in feedback and
makes the corrections that correlate
with the given feedback, feedback I can
personally give her is to go away and
work on her characterisation more as
Glinda needs to be really cheesy and
over the top to contrast with Elphaba.

2. Conduct during rehearsals - Did this person behave in a positive and
focused way during rehearsals? Assess their contribution to the
success of the rehearsal. Please be as specific as possible
Ria behaved in a positive manner in all rehearsals and was extremely focused which
made it easy to conduct rehearsals and made our progression much quicker
throughout the piece. Her contribution to the success of our performance is well
appreciated as we can bounce off of each other when practising and we do not
always need to communicate when something goes wrong we can just identify it and
work though it, or when she makes a mistake she does not let it get to her, she just
works through it and goes away to make the necessary corrections.
3. Performer response - will you make any changes to your working
practises following this observation? Be specific
I will go away and work on my characterisation. This is because I know it will not only
help me, but help Evie too. This is because it will show the contrast between our
characters which helps portray the context and meaning behind the song. To do this I
will watch the Broadway performance of Wicked (clips on youtube) to see what
gestures, body language and mannerisms they use that will be effective for me to
use.
