On 6 June, the International Union of Railways (UIC), together with various stakeholders from the rail and road sectors, road safety authorities, academia and international institutions, will gather for the 11th International Level Crossing Awareness Day. Following successful previous events in Brussels, Warsaw, Paris, Geneva, Lisbon, Istanbul, Riga, Montreal and Zagreb, this year’s event will be held in Amersfoort, Netherlands, organised jointly by UIC and ProRail, the Dutch railway infrastructure manager.

A People Driven Approach to Road SafetyConstant Cap
Presentation made to the Kenya Transport Researchers Network Forum on how we can have a different approach towards Road Safety by putting human beings at the centre of our designs and campaigns other than vehicles and roads.
The number of registered vehicles continues to grow every year and so is the number of road accidents. Rapid motorization in Malaysia has shown the growth of registered vehicles at 7.52% per annum as compared to 2.45% population growth between 1995 and 2010. During the same period, the growth of road accident has been increasing at the rate of 6.44% per annum, much higher than the population growth, from 8.09 in 1995 to 14.33 accidents per 1000 population in 2010. This dramatic increase raised a great concern both in government and the general public. Many efforts have been carried out in the past but were not well coordinated. A well coordinated effort was started from 2003, leading to the setting up of the Malaysian Institute of Road Safety Research in 2007, Friend of Road Safety in 2008 and Attitude Operation in 2007, in the meantime strengthening the role of Road Safety Board and the Department of Road Safety. Private companies, especially those directly related with road traffic such as oil, insurance and car manufacturing companies have also increasing their roles in road safety issues through the Department of Road Safety. These corporate contributions ranging from giving away safety helmet, child safety booster seats and road safety training for school children to providing free car safety inspection. The efforts have been fruitful. Although the number of accidents is still increasing, the number of casualty has been decreasing more than 50%, to 0.98 persons per 1000 populations within 10 years.
Improving Walkability, And Pedestrian Safety And ConvenienceArefeh Nasri
This is a presentation I prepared during my internship at Newark Housing Authority (NHA) for the research team of their project for making Newark neighborhoods more pedestrian-friendly.
Welcome to the Program Your Destiny course. In this course, we will be learning the technology of personal transformation, neuroassociative conditioning (NAC) as pioneered by Tony Robbins. NAC is used to deprogram negative neuroassociations that are causing approach avoidance and instead reprogram yourself with positive neuroassociations that lead to being approach automatic. In doing so, you change your destiny, moving towards unlocking the hypersocial self within, the true self free from fear and operating from a place of personal power and love.

3. A pedestrian is someone that is
walking or A person traveling on foot
.Those traveling using tiny wheels
such as roller skates, skateboards,
and scooters ,wheelchair users. As
you can see in this picture. Also in
this picture you can see that the
child is holding their adult hand and
that the adult is stood closest to
the road so that his daughter will
not be near the road.
who is pedestrian
11. Improving pedestrian safety
Pedestrian safety education campaign
Pedestrian Hybrid Beacons
Walk able community workshop
Road safety audits
Local safety program
High risks ruler roads program
12. Promote culture change:
Change pedestrian & motorist behavior
resulting in a reduction in pedestrian crashes,
injuries & fatalities.
Educate motorists and pedestrians about
their roles and responsibility for safely
sharing the road.
Increase user's awareness of that effort.
13. •Sustainable transport strategies are
those that meet the basic mobility
needs of all
•Sustainable safety must cover the
whole network, all vehicles, all road
users
Sustainability of Pedestrian Safety
•Central to this is promoting
infrastructure that maximize safety
for pedestrians and other VRUs
•Prevailing road infrastructure deny
pedestrians a safe place to walk
•Safe system road infrastructure
measures are required to save lives
14. Sustainability of Pedestrian Safety
STOPTHECRASH is a multi-
stakeholder partnership led by Global
NCAP campaigning for life saving crash
avoidance technologies in support of
the UN Global Goals. The campaign’s
objective is to encourage governments
to adopt relevant UN global standards
so that the technologies eventually
become a regulatory requirement for
new vehicles. STOPTHECRASH will be
launched in Brasilia on the occasion of
the 2nd Global High Level Conference
on Road Safety in November.
15. •Pedestrians are the major victims in crashes
and the situation is rapidly deteriorating
•Road infrastructure hazards are major
contributors to pedestrian fatalities
•Addressing pedestrian safety is a priority issue
for Bangladesh
•Safe system approach provides new paradigm
and opportunity for low and middle income
countries
•There is urgency for making road
infrastructure safer through systematic
application of Safe System
Conclusions
