PDHPE:
“Encourages an understanding and valuing of self
and others”
Through an awareness of themselves and of others,
students are able to adapt to situations they find
themselves in, and understand how to effectively
communicate their needs.
“Promotes physical activity”
PDHPE encourages students to participate in regular
physical activity, which has proven health benefits both
long- and short-term.

3. Why is PDHPE important?
PDHPE is an important part of students’
learning. It teaches students about personal
values, rights, responsibilities, healthy and
unhealthy decisions, and ways to interact with
others.
Whole-school participation in PDHPE has been
shown to increase student’s engagement with
content in the classroom and has proven health
benefits.

5. How do we use PDHPE in school?
Schools that incorporate PDHPE into their wider
community have been shown to work together
more efficiently to develop healthy kids and
healthy communities.
At our school, we aim to have all students and
staff participate in physical activity most
mornings, interact with individuals outside their
immediate age group, and make healthier
