  1. 1. PDHPE Rationale The importance of Personal Development, Health and Physical Education.
  2. 2. PDHPE creates informed students on vital health, safety and community topics as well as providing them the skills needed to become active and responsible members in their community. Students are intentionally challenged throughout this subject to create opportunities for them to develop effective problem solving skills, active communication and informed decision making.
  3. 3. The skills gained throughout this subject encourage students to value themselves and feel positive about who they are. This positive attitude toward their being, allows students to value others, work cooperatively with them and build lasting positive relationships. A vital element in any students school experience.
  4. 4. The confronting topics that are discussed and explored throughout PDHPE are the most necessary. It is these topics on sexuality, drugs, keeping safe and staying healthy that will make the most impact on a students life, as they live these issues everyday. A deep understanding of the health issues that exist in the community empowers students to make appropriate decisions and become valuable members in their community.
  5. 5. PDHPE allows students to develop a love and passion for leading healthy lifestyles through it’s promotion of physical activity. Students have an opportunity everyday to get up, get active and become fit! Combine this with the knowledge they gain on nutrition, the human body and personal development, you will find a student with a holistic and sustainable outlook on the importance of positive health choices.
  6. 6. One of the most important benefits of participating in PDHPE is the growth in wellbeing and confidence! Students develop skills, push their limits and learn about themselves through safe, hand’s on, fun and interesting experiences. PDHPE is one of the only components of the curriculum that encourages students to get out of the classroom and into their environment!
  7. 7. The importance of participating in PDHPE cannot be stressed enough. It is crucial that we make time for this life long lasting knowledge.
