1. Rationale for advocating teaching Personal
Development, Health and Physical
Education (PD/H/PE) in Primary Schools
Personal Development, Health and physical Education is one of the six key learning
areas in the NSW primary curriculum. The PD/H/PE curriculum formulates an
extraordinary contribution to the overall school curriculum, this is because it is precisely
involved with encouraging the development of the learner as an entire human being.
2. Learners need to be encouraged to be more active and as a result partake in regular physical
activity. Regular physical activity is a crucial component for the development and
preservation of the best possible health.
•It can improve cardiovascular efficiency
•Can aid efforts to reduce risk factors of coronary heart disease.
•It is critical for enhancing bone development
•Controlling obesity
•Improving psychological health and immune status.
Furthermore physical activity is as well significant in contributing to the excellence of life.
