Many corporate tend to take CSR lightly and for granted.
But the truth is it this society that makes a company what it is today. One of the major external
factors is social factors. Being a responsible part of society, we should acknowledge our duties
towards it. This will help us in:
• Improving the productivity of our employees.
•Improving our people and market
•Better communication with the stakeholders
• Developing a powerful tool of communication
•A positive effect on laws and regulations
•Creating a long-term relationship with employees and stakeholders
The management should consider all these benefits and formulate CSR policies as soon as

14. Module 4: Technical/ Business Presentations
1. Explain the steps for making effective slides.
Answer :
Use the slide master feature to create a consistent and simple design template. It is
fine to vary the content presentation (bulleted list, two-column text, text and image,
etc.), but be consistent with other elements such as font, colors and background.
Simplify and limit the number of words on each screen. Use key phrases and include
only essential information.
Limit punctuation and avoid putting words in all-capital letters. Empty space on the
slide will enhance readability.
Use contrasting colors for text and background. Light text on a dark background is
best. Patterned backgrounds can reduce readability.
Avoid the use of flashy transitions such as text fly-ins. These features may seem
impressive at first but are distracting and get old quickly.
Overuse of special effects such as animation and sounds may make your presentation
“cutesy” and could negatively affect your credibility.
Use good-quality images that reinforce and complement your message. Ensure that
your image maintains its impact and resolution when projected on a larger screen.
If you use builds (lines of text appearing each time you click the mouse), have content
appear on the screen in a consistent, simple manner; from the top or left is best. Use
the feature only when necessary to make your point, because builds can slow your
presentation.
Limit the number of slides. Presenters who constantly “flip” to the next slide are
likely to lose their audience. A good rule of thumb is one slide per minute.
15. Learn to navigate your presentation in a nonlinear fashion. PowerPoint allows the
presenter to jump ahead or back without having to page through all the interim slides.
Know how to and practice moving forward and backward within your presentation.
Audiences often ask to see a previous screen again.
If possible, view your slides on the screen you’ll be using for your presentation. Make
sure the slides are readable from the back row seats. Text and graphic images should
be large enough to read but not so large as to appear “loud.”
Have a Plan B in the event of technical difficulties. Remember that transparencies and
handouts will not show animation or other special effects.
Practice with someone who has never seen your presentation. Ask them for honest
feedback about colors, content and any effects or graphic images you’ve included.
Do not read from your slides. The content of your slides is for the audience, not for
the presenter.
Do not speak to your slides. Many presenters face their presentation onscreen rather
than their audience.
Do not apologise for anything in your presentation. If you believe something will be
hard to read or understand, don’t use it.
16. Module 5: Interpersonal Skills
Q. Answer in one sentence
1. Which interpersonal skill do you need to have to express your thoughts in a
straight way?
-> Effective verbal communication is one of many interpersonal skills we need to
have in order to express our thoughts in a straight way.
2. Which interpersonal skill you should possess to understand others?
-> Empathy and Active listening are the skills we should possess to understand others.
Q. Answer in detail.
3. Write the advantage of time management.
-> Effective time management is the productive use of your time, allowing you to get
everything you had planned done. It’s organizing and planning your time between the
tasks you have to complete. This can include assignments, projects, study groups, or
extracurriculars.
Few of the advantages of time management are:-
Proper time management helps you achieve your goals faster. Instead of getting
caught up in multitasking, you focus on one activity at a time for a specified duration.
This way, you give it your best, which results in you achieving your goals faster.
It improves your performance. When you learn to block time out of your day for all
your important tasks, you’ll have a better idea of everything you need to accomplish
and how long each task should take. When you have a schedule to follow, you’ll
likely find that you spend less time deciding what to work on or procrastinating and
more time getting down to important work.
It helps you produce better work. Time management helps you prioritize your tasks so
that you ensure you have enough time available to complete every project. The quality
of your work increases when you’re not rushing to complete it ahead of a fast
approaching deadline.
It helps in reducing your stress. It’s easy to become anxious when you have a full list
of tasks to accomplish both for work and in your personal life. Good time
management can help you prioritize your to-do list and set aside the time needed for
your most important tasks, so you know exactly what you need to do and how much
17. time you have available to complete everything. Prioritizing your tasks and giving
yourself enough time to accomplish them can help reduce your stress levels.
It helps you become more efficient. When you understand how to manage your time
effectively, you’ll become more focused at work which allows you to accomplish
more with less time available.
4. What steps should you take for better Conflict Resolution?
-> Conflict resolution is the process of resolving a dispute between two or more
people. Conflict can occur between individual coworkers, between managers, between
a manager and a member of their team or between a service provider and a customer
or client. It can also occur between groups of people, such as between management
and their workforce or between entire departments. Conflict resolution is essential to
maintaining a productive workforce and high workplace morale.
Few steps in order to achieve better Conflict Resolution are:-
Use active listening:- If you’ve ever felt someone was not listening while you were
talking, you understand why the issue is the source of many conflicts—and prevents
successful conflict resolution. To avoid this, employ active listening techniques to
ensure the other individual you are not only listening but engaged with what they have
to say. Give active feedback as you listen, including acknowledging what the other
person has just said and affirming what you’ve heard; then, expect similar treatment
as you respond.
Make a compromise:- In some cases, a solution where both parties come away a
winner is not possible. In this situation, brainstorming and collaboration can result in
conflict resolution without satisfying both parties’ needs. Instead, both parties must let
go of one or more terms in favor of ending the conflict and moving forward.
Clarify what the disagreement is. Clarifying involves getting to the heart of the
conflict. The goal of this step is to get both sides to agree on what the disagreement is.
To do this, you need to discuss what needs are not being met on both sides of the
conflict and ensure mutual understanding.
Establish a common goal for both parties. To accomplish this, discuss what each party
would like to see happen and find a commonality in both sides as a starting point for a
shared outcome. That commonality can be as simple as “both sides want to end the
conflict.”
18. 5. In your view how interpersonal skills can make you a leading factor?
-> Interpersonal skills are the social skills we use to interact with others at work.
These behaviours form part of an individual’s emotional intelligence, and encompass
a wide array of capabilities, such as:
Verbal communication
Non-verbal communication
Empathy
Negotiation
Conflict management
Influence
Active listening
Regardless of the industry or the discipline you work in, interpersonal skills are
integral to career success — especially in order to make you a leading factor. Strong
interpersonal skills enable leaders and many other people to foster meaningful
relationships with their team, engage and motivate employees, navigate setbacks, and
address the root cause of poor performance. In fact, multiple studies have shown that
people with high emotional intelligence create more connected and motivated teams.
Interpersonal skills are important for communicating and working with groups and
individuals in your personal and professional life. People with strong interpersonal
skills tend to build good relationships and can work well with others. They understand
family, friends, coworkers and clients well. People often enjoy working with
colleagues who have good interpersonal skills. Other benefits of interpersonal skills
include the ability to solve problems and make good decisions. You can use
interpersonal communication skills and the ability to understand others to come to the
best solution or make the best decision for everyone involved. If we were to describe
interpersonal skills, we would say that these are a set of skills that prove beneficial to
us in almost every aspect of life. In any activity that requires us to interact with other
people, whether it is a job interview, a personal relationship, or a business deal,
interpersonal skills help you achieve success and happiness. Good interpersonal skills
are essential to succeed in all walks of life, whether it’s the workplace, personal
relationships or politics.
19. Module 6: Corporate Ethics
Explain the types of intellectual property rights.
Intellectual property rights are legal rights that provide creators protection for original
works, inventions, or the appearance of products, artistic works, scientific
developments, and so on. There are four types of intellectual property rights (IP):
patents, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets.
The purpose of intellectual property rights is to encourage new creations, including
technology, artwork, and inventions, that might increase economic growth.
Intellectual property rights increase the incentives for individuals to continue to
produce things that further create job opportunities and new technologies, while
enabling our world to improve and evolve even faster. Intellectual Property Drives
Economic Growth and Competitiveness
Types of Intellectual Property Rights:
Patent
A patent is used to prevent an invention from being created, sold, or used by another
party without permission. Patents are the most common type of intellectual property
rights that come to people’s minds when they think of intellectual property rights
protection. A Patent Owner has every right to commercialize his/her/its patent,
including buying and selling the patent or granting a license to the invention to any
third party under mutually agreed terms.
There are three different categories that patents can fall under:
Utility: A utility patent protects the creation of a new or improved product, process,
composition of matter, or machine that is useful.
Design: A design patent protects the ornamental design on a useful item.
Plant: A plant patent protects new kinds of plants produced by cuttings or other
nonsexual means.
20. Trademark
Trademarks are another familiar type of intellectual property rights protection. A
trademark is a distinctive sign which allows consumers to easily identify the particular
goods or services that a company provides. Some examples include McDonald’s
golden arch, the Facebook logo, and so on. A trademark can come in the form of text,
a phrase, symbol, sound, smell, and/or color scheme. Unlike patents, a trademark can
protect a set or class of products or services, instead of just one product or process.
Copyright
Copyright does not protect ideas. Rather, it only covers “tangible” forms of creations
and original work–for example, art, music, architectural drawings, or even software
codes. The copyright owner has the exclusive right to sell, publish, and/or reproduce
any literary, musical, dramatic, artistic, or architectural work created by the author.
Trade Secret
Trade secrets are the secrets of a business. They are proprietary systems, formulas,
strategies, or other information that is confidential and is not meant for unauthorized
commercial use by others. This is a critical form of protection that can help businesses
to gain a competitive advantage.
Although intellectual property rights protection may seem to provide a minimum
amount of protection, when they are utilized wisely, they can maximize the benefit
and value of a creation and enable world-changing technology to be developed,
protected, and monetized.
