The National Traumatic Occupational Surveillance System registered 1530 worker deaths from forklift accidents between the years 1980 and 2001. Of these accidents, the biggest portion at 22%, most were caused by a forklift overturn.
Collisions between workers on the ground where the ground worker died accounted for 20% of deaths. Another 16% of deaths were caused by someone being crushed by the forklift and 9% by an operator falling from the forklift.

It can be said as "Ouch, that hurts" or "My body aches." Expressing pleasure comes from enjoyable experiences and can be shown with words like "Great!" or "I enjoyed it."

- 1. Say GOODBYE to boring words HOW DO YOU FEEL?
- 2. Pass the Emotion Today, we are going to play a game called “Pass the Emotion.” This game will help us learn and practice using five new words that describe different feelings or emotions. It will also help us stretch our facial muscles and develop our acting skills. So…are you prepared to play “Pass the Emotion”?
- 3. First, let’s form a circle Please move your chairs so that everyone in the class is sitting in a circular formation. This will make it easier for each of us to see our classmate’s facial expressions. This is an important aspect of our game so we must be sure we can each other’s faces.
- 4. Next, let’s practice passing an emotion! This is how it works: we are going to pass a smile around the circle. First, I will pass a smile to the person closest to me. That person will pass the smile to the person closest to him or her. Continue passing the smile until everyone in the circle has a huge grin on his or her face!
- 5. That was too easy! Games are MUCH more fun when they are challenging. Therefore, I’ve chosen FIVE interesting words that describe different emotions that I will use to tell you a short story about an experience I had during my vacation. Each time I use a new ‘feeling’ word, we will pass that emotion around the circle. Are you ready? Let’s do one more practice round first.
- 6. Practice Round As you can imagine, I felt excited to travel to the mountains for a ski trip. Let’s pass the emotion: excited!
- 7. Pass the Emotions: Ski Trip! First, let’s learn the word: nostalgic. Definition: a feeling of pleasure or sadness when you remember something from the past and wish you could experience it again
- 8. nostalgic As we rode the ski lift to the top of the mountain, I felt nostalgic as I remembered our family’s very first ski trip together.
- 10. anxious First, let’s learn the word: anxious Definition: afraid or nervous, especially about what might happen
- 11. anxious However, when we arrived at the summit I felt anxious as I stared down the long, steep slope. I hope I can ski down and not FALL down this mountain!
- 13. delighted First, let’s learn the word: delighted Definition: very happy, full of great pleasure or satisfaction
- 14. delighted Of course, once I skied to the bottom of the mountain without falling, I was delighted!
- 16. exhausted First, let’s learn the word: exhausted Definition: very tired, so tired it’s hard to do anything but rest
- 17. exhausted We were skiing for hours! It was so much fun, I didn’t want to stop until, finally, I was completely exhausted and did not have the energy to keep skiing.
- 19. homesick First, let’s learn the word: homesick Definition: sad because you are away from your family and home
- 20. homesick After skiing for seven days on Whiteface Mountain, I started to feel homesick. I missed my grandma and my sister, I missed my home.
