THE THREE LITTLE PIGS
The story is about three little pigs who each build houses out of different materials. The first pig builds a house of straw, the second builds a house of sticks, and the third builds a house of bricks. A big bad wolf comes along and blows down the straw and stick houses to eat the pigs inside. However, the brick house is too strong and the wolf cannot blow it down. Eventually, the wolf falls down the chimney into a pot of soup, ending his attempts to eat the little pigs.

Talk Abstract:
Across Aotearoa (New Zealand), co-design is rapidly being adopted in public and community contexts to tackle complex national issues and policies such as youth employment; smoking cessation; community health and wellbeing; homelessness
and family violence.
Many of these are large-scale, complex social change innovations and experiments that bring together new groups of people, which means working together in new ways. The opportunity to scale co-design to help address systemic national social challenges is both awesome and terrifying. This talk highlights some of the key trends, changes, opportunities and challenges emerging in co-design for social innovation and social outcomes in Aotearoa.
Hop on Pop
This lesson plan focuses on teaching short vowel sounds "o" and "u" using Dr. Seuss' book "Hop on Pop". Students will identify rhyming words in the story, distinguish between the short vowel sounds, produce rhyming words, and sort pictures into rhyming word families. The lesson introduces activities by reading the book aloud, identifying rhyming words on selected pages, writing example rhyming word pairs on the board, and having students clap out the rhyming patterns in words. Students are then assessed by coloring, cutting out, and pairing rhyming pictures from a worksheet.

The descriptive essay will describe (in detail) a place or a person, using concrete and specific language (language that creates mental pictures) that appeals to various senses (sight, hearing, taste, touch, and smell). Descriptive adjectives that convey emotion/personality and atmosphere/mood should be included. To enhance the effect, utilization of figurative language (e.g., similes, metaphors) is HIGHLY encouraged.

Introduction/ Task/Process/Final Project/ Teacher Statement This Power Point web quest will be exported into a Promethean Inspire flipchart or Smart notebook so that it can projected onto an interactive whiteboard. Once the web quest is projected onto the whiteboard, students can click on the links, make circles on the slides, etc.
- 3. Introduction Your group is going to make a video of the book There Is a Bird on Your Head! by Mo Willems. Before you make your own video, you participate in some activities that will help you learn more about the author and illustrator Mo Willems.
- 4. When you finish this web quest, you will make your own video of There Is a Bird on Your Head! Mrs. Sanjana will film the video on her flip camera and you and your family can watch it on the ESL class website. You will be an actor, even if we can't see your face! - 7. Feelings Puzzled Happy Angry Sad Frustrated Go around your group reading the sentence “There is a bird on your head” out loud using a different emotion each time.
- 8. Puzzled Happy Angry Sad Frustrated Decide which emotion Elephant feels in this picture. Circle it. Do the same for each picture that follows. Take turns making the circle for your group.
