2. Introduction
What is Individualism?
Individualism is
the moral stance, political
philosophy, ideology, or social
outlook that emphasizes the
moral worth of the individual.
Individualists promote the
exercise of one's goals and
desires and so
value independence and self-
reliance and advocate that
interests of the individual
should achieve precedence
over the state or a social
group. It is also associated
with self creation.
3. Romantic Individualism
Longer life spans and rising
standard of living enable
ideas or values including
individualism, imagination.
Idealization of childhood,
families, love, nature and
the past.
The romantic era rises
from the new wealth,
stability and sense of
progress created by the
preceding enlightenment.
4. Main factors of the spirit of Individualism
The idea of the individual is embraced and perfected by
Lord Byron in his creation Byronic hero. Who is the
archetype of all the dark and brooding antiheros of subs
sequent fiction.
Romantic movement was reaction against the cultural,
social and political developments.
Many thinkers began to see developments in society
threatening individualism mass political movement
diminished individual accomplishment.
Neoclassicism’s strict rules and formalism began to seem
limiting poet’s expression of unrestrained emotions.

remained more friendly
towards society.
Sacrifices his own
happiness.
In urban movies hero
only thinks about his
own happiness.
Behavior of hero is look
like a behavior of rogue.
8. Conclusion
So we can conclude that by the changing of time we
can find the changes in the characteristics of the
romantic hero. People also accepting their romantic
hero in a new way. Thus, we can find individualism
as the necessary part of the romantic hero.
