2. Abraham Maslow And The Holistic-Dynamic Theory Of
Abraham...
It s human nature for us to be fixated on our own flaws and weaknesses. Ever since
I was younger, I have always been a victim of my own self worth, one characterized
by a crippling fear of incapability of doing anything, which further developed to an
excessive inadequacy to feel like I was going to amount to anything. This wasn t
helped by the constant bullying and harassment that I ve received as a child, which
has molded into the person I am today. I was simply a person going through the rote
motions of society. Although what it would seem to be very Adler like in practice, I,
unlike what Adler had proposed, was not in this struggle to achieve or be better in
anything. It s difficult and, admittedly, is something I still face up to this... Show more

These needs cover everyday recurring human processes that help us function
physically. Under physiological needs is our need to eat, drink, sleep, breathe and
in other sources, sex. Unlike other needs, our physiological needs are the only kind
of needs that can be over satisfied (e.g. over eating). Once we satisfy our
physiological needs, we now can attend our need for safety, which covers every
sense of the word. What I mean by every sense of the word is that safety is not
limited to physical safety from external factors such natural disasters or terrorism.
Safety can also take in the form of stability in one s occupation, one s resources in
providing for one s self, and even one s need to be away from fear. With this
satisfaction of such needs, we are now faced with the need for love. Unlike the
first two needs, the need for love is far more dependent on abstract factors such as
affection and belongingness and tends to stray away from mundane entities such as
food and money. The need for love is our need to be in intimate relationships with
others whatever the nature of relationship this may be. Once we have achieved love,
Maslow postulates that humans will now work on achieving one s self esteem. Self
esteem needs cover self confidence and the recognition of a positive reputation.
Lastly, we are now faced with the highest need on Maslow s hierarchy: self
actualization. Albeit unlike the previously
4. How Did Lenin Gain Power In October 1917
Assess the reasons why Lenin and the Bolsheviks were able to seize power in
October 1917?
Lenin s idealistic political beliefs, combined with his professional revolutionary
status and the previous mistreatment of the people led to the Bolsheviks seizing
power in October 1917. Of course there were other factors that contributed heavily to
the Bolsheviks succession into power it wasn t merely because of Lenin s
understanding of the political landscape. Other significant events and factors that led
to the Bolsheviks snatching power; were weaknesses within the provisional
government, propaganda, the power of war, the kornilov coup. However conclusively
it Bolsheviks would definitely not have seized power if the provisional government

Like his outspoken opinions on the war, Lenin was a conviction politician, he had
his policies and he knew how they policies would be received by the people as he
understood what they wanted. He listened. Lenin controlled the Bolsheviks and
steered them into the direction he felt the country needed. He called for
revolution, an end to the war, land to the peasants and power to the soviets. This
was Lenin s April thesis named The Tasks of the Proletariat in the Present
Revolution . Lenin and the Bolsheviks presented an alternative to the stationary
lack lustre provisional government. Lenin promised a new future; a future built
upon the foundation of the people the proletariats taking their rightful place .
Lenin promised to protect the people, give them peace land and Bread and for a
union a worker with very little to live for the deal of socialism for hope and a better
future seemed rather great. Evidence of this was Lenin s and the Bolsheviks use of
propaganda which had a significant impact on the people of Russia, the He kept it
simplistic and easy to understand Peace Land and Bread and Land to the peasants
were phrases Lenin used in order to gain support. This propaganda especially
influenced the peasants. The provisional government s failed to legitimise the
peasants taking ownership over their land which created a rift with the peasants
which created a problem controlling food supplies. Lenin s orating skills and
understanding of the political landscape helped him to gain popularity within the
working community he had the power of the people. Once Lenin won the people
over it was only a matter of time before the Bolshevik
5. The Understanding of the Monster Essay
The Understanding of a Monster When analyzed online many of the definitions you
will find for the word monster include: a strange or horrible imaginary creature, one
who deviates from normal or acceptable behavior, or an animal of strange and/or
terrifying shape. (Merriam Webster) When observing the MonsterTheory by Jeffrey
Cohen and the 7 theses that he provides in this text, one can begin to somewhat
disagree with these formal definitions and attempt to say that it has an even greater
meaning. Monsters might scare us and frighten us because of their physical
appearances but also can provide us with possible solutions to gaps and uncertainties
in our mind that Sigmund Freudwould label as The Uncanny . I can only but agree

Lastly, the tale of Frankenstein can be observed in depth to prove a point. Some
cultures used the idea of Frankenstein to signify that in the future, we humans would
be our own monsters since we create them. Others use the tale as a way of detesting
against the living things that don t adhere to our norms. Anything that goes against
our mind s norms tends to present fear and anxiety in our feelings. This is the sole
basis as to what monsters are made from. The next thesis proposed by Cohen is
that a monster is the harbinger of category crisis. In order to feel comfortable about
places, people, and things in the word, we tend to group things into categories. All
of these are placed in categories typically by physical appearance and certain traits
that tend to stick out. Well, what s scary about monsters is that they tend to be
unnatural and not just fit into one category, but rather many different categories. One
of the most common characters described by this thesis is Count Dracula, a monster
that is neither dead nor alive. When one cannot be distinguished into a basic
category this tends to frighten us because it goes against one of our common norms.
He breaks our human made laws of nature. Along with the violations of our norm
groups, monsters also tend as an act to forewarn our cultures of crisis. The creator of
Frankenstein can be seen as an act to

8. The Six Functions Of Rhetoric
It has been said that there is no clear definition of rhetoric. Throughout the years there
have been many disputes over the meaning of this type of communication however,
two specifics can be agreed on; rhetoric contains six distinguishing characteristics and
six ultimate functions. The six distinguishing characteristics of rhetoricinclude that it
is planned, adapted to an audience, reveals human motives, is responsive, seeks
persuasion, and addresses contingent issues. The six functions of rhetoric include
the theories that rhetoric test ideas, assists advocacy, distributes power, discovers
facts, shapes knowledge, and builds communities. Due to its content, organization,
and goal, Lincoln s work falls into the category of rhetoric. On the other hand,
because of the work s intent, vocabulary, and emotion, Dickinson s work is best
described as a poem. Incidentally, Dickinson s poem also contains multiple
characteristics and functions of rhetoric. From the data collected and interpreted,
we may categorize Lincoln s Second Inaugural Address as a rhetorical speech and
Dickinson s Success Is Counted Sweetest as a poem containing rhetorical
characteristics. Lincoln s speech announces to announce to his people, the Union,
the Civil War, was unavoidable. In his first few paragraphs, the President claims that
he has no new knowledge of the war to present to the people that they do not already
know. Lincoln goes on to explain how despite the Union s progress in the war, there
9. Role Of Achievement In The Odyssey

achievement will be cherished. Seeking a path in any life decision will lead to an

Failure is also an achievement, with a negative result, opposite of accomplishment.

Not all negative achievements are failures. A negative achievement can become a
positive, again it depends on the achiever and what they choose do with the
achievement in question. Success is not final; failure is not fatal: it is the courage
to continue that counts Winston Churchill. Throughout history the most successful
people had a relationship with failure and still went on to make their mark on the
world. You can have a live time of fails and one success to make it all worth it. I
suppose there are clues about his life there in the shut up and locked room, perhaps
even some traces of my mother, but better to be content with ignorance, I ve always

expands your senses and enhances thought, it s not something to be afraid of.

Draft: Composition 2
People all around the world are beginning to recognize the importance of
sustainability and how it is the key to future generations. Because the human
ecological footprint is reaching the point of limitation, it is only necessary that
humans learn how to adapt and develop more efficient, sustainable states. Today,
many cities are faced with the issue of heavily contaminated and polluted domestic
water due to the failure of proper treatment and disposal. This event occurs when
pollutants and particulates come into contact and engage with water resources. In
Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, residents and local officials continue to debate over the
practices of drilling, waste management, and coal mining within their district. These
practices are the lead cause to Pittsburgh s poor water quality. As a result, residents
of Pittsburgh and those who live along the border the city, are victims of dangerous
wastewater which have the potential to cause deadly diseases and illnesses like
malaria and cholera. The problem of water pollution in Pittsburgh has become an
issue politically, because local officials debate over the treatment of toxic wastes;
socially, because the people of Pittsburgh and those living near its rivers are
victimized; and economically, because the city relies on its industries to avoid further
debt. There are many reasons to why Pittsburgh fails to successfully treat its polluted
water
11. Unaccompanied Minors
Imagine leaving your home country all on your own at the age of nine and finally
making your way to another country where you are not welcomed and could be
sent back to your home country where it is not safe. Instances like this take place
every day for children and they are all alone with nowhere to go. Real life examples
like this are why unaccompanied minors need protection. The United Statesshould
protect unaccompanied minors from Central America due to a child s reason for
leaving their home country, their vulnerability, and the U.S. has an obligation under
set laws and programs.
Firstly, a child s reason for leaving their country should be a factor on how much
they are protected by the United States. To elaborate, a child who left home to get
away from home because they did not like the rules they had to follow from their
parents is a lot different than a child leaving home due to being a refugee. The child
who left home due to not agreeing with the household rules should be sent back
home safely while the child who is a refugee should stay in the U.S. and ensure
safety and protection. Additionally, while a child may have multiple reasons for
leaving his or her country, children from the Northern Triangle consistently cite gang

It is easy to recognize that information asymmetry exists in contracting due to the
principal agent nature of the relationship between a lender and a borrower, as well as
between shareholders and managers of the firm. In both cases the agent has more
information about the firm than does the principal.
In accordance with the bonus plan hypothesis of positive accounting theory,
managers will have a tendency to overstate the net value of assets and debt holders
are aware this. Watts also mentions that the agents have limited liability in contracts
because the cost of their actions can be well over their individual wealth; therefore
the principal may never recover the losses incurred (Watts, 2002). Conservatism
allows the principals to use lower bounds measures to monitor the agents by applying
restrictions such as debt covenants and impede behaviour that could lower the value
of net assets or the loan, thus increasing the firm s risk (Watts, 2002). In contracting,
conservatism is used to offset some of the information asymmetry in an attempt to
reduce agency costs and overall risk of debt holders. Contracts also tend to exclude
non verifiable assets such as intangibles, making the net value of assets conservative.
Shareholder s litigation Many academics identify shareholder litigation as another
cause for the continued use of conservatism in accounting. The reason is that
litigation produces asymmetric payoffs because overstating

14. A Hanging By George Orwell
In George Orwell s A hanging , George uses his personal experiences as an Assistant
superintendent in the British Imperial Police from 1922 to 1927 to convey his
argument against capital punishment. Orwell as an officer of the law is sworn to
enforce the laws of the state, even if he disagrees with them morally. Orwell wrote A
Hangingusing an event he acted in to describe his point on why capital punishmentis a
crimeagainst nature. Although as a police man he could not oppose the law, his
story A Hanging , Orwell shows his opposition through many symbolic forms. Like
Orwell I too am against capital punishment, by writing A Hanging George Orwell
shoes the unjustness he sees with the use of the dog, the overall setting and tone of
the story, the words which he uses to describe actions taking place, and the words he
uses to describe the characters.
Within George Orwell s A Hanging he sets a tone that shows his disgust with
capital punishment as well as uses the dog along with the actions taken by the
functionaries to display the wrongness of the event that occurred. Orwell starts the
story with a gloomy tone right off the back to emphasize the gruesomeness of what
will occur. When starting with a sodden morning of the rains. A sickly light, like
yellow tinfoil, was slating over the high walls into the jail yard, (99), Orwell starts
his readers with a mood of sadness and a feeling of disgust while simply just
describing the setting. Next one must look at how Orwell

forbidden love consists of Tony (an ex jet) and Maria (the sister to the leader of the

two completely ethnic backgrounds that can not stand each other. This story of
romance would ultimately end as tragically as we would all suspect. Riff (Tony s
best friend) is killed by a stab wound to the chest, Bernardo (Maria s brother) is
killed by Tony and Tony ultimately meets his fate when a bullet strikes him in the

This is due to the target audience of the two stories. The noval West Side Story
takes place on the westside of Manhattan, where the movie Gnomeo and Juliet takes
place in the backyard of two neighbors. These settings differ so much in order for
the targeted audiences to relate to the storys. Since the West Side story is meant for
a more mature audience, Laurents sets his novel in manhattan, making the story as
life like as possible. The backyard setting of Gnomeo and Juliet allows for the young
target audience to easily relate to the movie, while keeping ideas simple for easy
understanding.
Lastly, the plot of the two stories are greatly different. This again is also in order for
the target audiences to better understand. The plot of the West Side Story is much
more complex than that of the Gnomeo and Juliet, In the plot of the West Side
Story we see death, Violence and loveloss. These are all components that make a a
novel appealing to a more mature audience. These are ideas that are advanced
beyond what most children can comprehend but this is also the same thing that
makes the novel so effective to carrying a message to a older audience.
The movie Gnomeo and Juliet uses a plot line that is far more simple to follow. The
movie s plot line included ideals such as, love and forgiveness. These are two ideas
that a young audience are able to comprehend. Even though these stories have
different plot lines and different complexities. They both deliver a message that is

The concept of eternal return is first introduced through warfare analogies, where a
war between two African kingdoms in the fourteenth century happened only once
and that it will [turn] into mere words, theories, lighter than feather (3, 4), whereas
if the [war] were to recur eternally , it will be considered eternal return and it would
become a solid mass, permanently protuberant (4, 4). Something that happened
only once will be lost in its inanity to history, but something that reoccurs gains
weight and becomes permanent. Thus, something could only be classified as
eternal return if it occurs endlessly and adds weight in history. Kundera reiterates
by saying that a Robespierre who occurs only once is history and a Robespierre
who eternally returns, chopping off French heads (4) have infinite differences.
Using Robespierre and his shocking guillotine in a humorous context of eternal
return, Kundera manages to express his idea of weight in eternal return as well as
mock history of its foolishness. Throughout the book, however, the idea of eternal
return comes as the motif of birds of fortuity, as Tereza felt The birds of fortuity had

For example, a similarity between the two is that they share the same character of
Poirot as the detective. The idea of Poirot started out when Christie was out

would make a good detective for her first work. Another similarity between the two
books is that narrator of the story is Poirot s assistant in the investigation. Both

One main difference between the two stories is the setting. While The Murder of

20. William Wordsworth And The Creation Of The Romantic
Movement
William Wordsworth and the Creation of the Romantic Movement William
Wordsworth (7 April 1770 23 April 1850) was a English Romantic poet.
Wordsworth s earliest poetry was published in 1793 in the collections An Evening
Walk and Descriptive Sketches. In 1795 he met Samuel Coleridge
(Encyclopedia.com), and produced Lyrical Ballads first published in 1978, it is
largely credited as the work that begain the English Romantic movement. In the
third edition of Lyrical Ballads published in 1802 the Preface to Lyrical Ballads
was added to the poems and on page 242, Wordsworth gave his now famous poetry
definition as being the spontaneous overflow of powerful feelings: it takes its origin
from emotion recollected in tranquility . In 1798 The Prelude, perhaps one of the
greatest works of English literature was first published. It is a long autobiographical
poem that is a personal history of the growth of Wordsworth s own mind. It was a
constant work in progress, with Wordsworth working on it until his death in 1850.
Lyrical Ballads published in 1798 is considered to be the fist mark of the English
Romantic movement in literature. The Romantic period of literature, covered from
about 1798 to 1832 and emphasizes nature, imagination, and the move from strictly
scientific knowledge to the knowledge of experience (A Guide to the Study of
Literature). According to the International Journal of English Language, Literature
and Humanities, Wordsworth explained his writing style
21. Andrew Jackson s President Of The United States
On many accounts people look back on Andrew Jackson and applaud his terms as
president. But those people do not look closer into his term on the huge mistake he
made. To appeal his personal feelings and not for the greater good of the country,
president Jackson vetoed the bill that would renew the Bank of the United States
(BUS) in 1832. Because of this veto, state banks were unleashed from their
restrictions and given the freedom they craved so badly. He believed the financial
sector of the American economy was spoiled, corrupt and bad for the overall health
of the nation, and so he destroyed, at great length, great drama and great cost, the
Bank of the United States. 1 Due to many experiences brought up with him, Andrew

He thought they all violated the Constitution. But he was led by the men around him
to focus his aversion on the federal Bank, which being the biggest must be the worst
and whose regulatory pressure on the state banks must obviously be the oppression to
be expected from a great, soulless corporation.4
This would cause his decision to veto the bill passed by congress and cause uproar.
The president of the BUS at the time, Nicolas Biddle, would put up a long fight to
try to save the bank he loved so much.5 One of the challenges faced with the
decision to veto the bill was how the American people felt on the issue. Jackson did
not take into account how this would affect the country and the people living within
it. This was personal misfortune, undeserved and severe. The more important victim
was the American people. For with destruction of the United States Bank there was
removed from an overexcitable economy the influence most effective in moderating
its booms and depressions. 6 In spite of the American people and their opinion,
Jackson acted on his own and in doing so made decisions that were not for him to do
without having something to back up his words. In his famous veto message, he
declared the bank unconstitutional whereas the Supreme Court would have never
declared the Bank constitution nor Congress if that were the case.7 Even some of the
great people from the past supported the very thing Jackson
22. Nitrogen as a Fertilizer, Nutrient, or Pollutant Essay
Nitrogen as a Fertilizer, Nutrient, or Pollutant
Nitrogen can always be a fertilizer, nutrient, or pollutant depending on the
circumstances and the environment it is in. As a fertilizer, nitrogen can be extremely
useful in aiding the growth of many plants. As a nutrient, nitrogen is essential to
many plants growth and survival. As a pollutant, nitrogen can not only affect the
plant at the given time but be very detrimental many years down the road. No matter
where you go nitrogen will always be either a fertilizer, nutrient, or pollutant.
Nitrogen can be considered as both a fertilizer and nutrient under the right
constraints. I will use citrus plants as one of my examples. For citrus growers
applying nitrogen to plants ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Research has shown that nitrogen deficiencies this severe in oranges will result in
considerable yield losses.
As you can see from this quote nitrogen is not only a needed nutrient but also a
valuable fertilizer. Citrus plants constantly need nitrogen to promote optimal
growth and yield. Nitrogen is often readily available in well or ground water.
Nitrogen can also be accessible through organic matter. You have to be careful
though because some organic matter can actually be low in nitrogen. Nitrogen
stored in the soil or present in organic amendments can substitute for chemical
sources. However, some organic amendments can be sufficiently low in nitrogen
(as those derived from yard waste), that their microbial degradation can actually
induce a temporary nitrogen deficiency in a grove that would otherwise have
sufficient nitrogen. There are also several ways nitrogen can be applied that many
people may not think of. When most farmers or people think of fertilizing they
think of a tractor pulling a sprayer with wet fertilizer, or a truck spreading dry
fertilizer. But with citrus plants you can t really pull a sprayer or drive a truck
through your crop. You have to use more non conventional methods of application.
The two most commonly used forms of application are by plane and through there
irrigation systems. They apply nitrogen year round because it is such a useful
fertilizer and nutrient and takes such a large amount to keep the

America has been home to diversity and is seemed to be land of the free. With an
array of culture and perspectives, America become a country represented by all.
Taking this into consideration, you would expect bilingual language to be highly
pushed among students, but that is far from true. Since 1998, proposition 227 was
enacted, creating strict protocols and was meant to fix the issues concerning
bilingual education. This proposition lead to non english speakers being put into
English only classes so that they were able to learn the language until they were
ready to be put in a regular english class. Although this was meant to be progressive,
it resulted in causing more conflict for non english learners and their progress being

In Ron Unz article Bilingual Education Programs Fail Our Students , he states that
proposition 227 had required all California public schools to teach their children
English by placing those non English speakers in an intensive sheltered English
immersion program in order to teach them English as quickly as possible so that
they could then be placed in a regular English class. The issue with this was that
children were unable to grow as fast as they needed to. Teaching them in English
creates more of a struggle for the child. The purpose of the class is to learn English
so using only English to teach would not be the best solution. In Prop. 58 would
undo limitations on bilingual education written by Adolfo Guzman Lopez, he
explains how Marcelo SuГЎrez Orozco, dean of the University of California Los
Angeles Graduate School of Education Information Studies, states that proposition
227 was a political response due to the failings of the bilingual education who rather
than finding a solution, eliminated bilingual education as a whole. So, rather than
working to fix the issue, supporters of 227 sought out to eliminate it as a whole,

24. Fitness Plus
Students should begin by analyzing the capacity of the facility; however, the
analysis is not as straightforward as it first may seem. There is an issue of how
capacity should be measured. Students should quickly recognize that an overall
measure of capacity for the facility isn t much help in determining if Fitness Plus is
capacityconstrained. If the service delivery process for each member were
homogeneous, such as a cafeteria or airline flight, then an overall measure of
capacity, such as the number of members serviced over a given period of time, would
be an appropriate measure of capacity. However, the service delivery process at

With these issues in mind, the students can develop capacity estimates similar to the
following:
1.Aerobics
*Assumption: Aerobics classes begin on the hour and last for 50 minutes.
*Capacity: 1 class per hour for 35 members
2.Cardiovascular
*Assumption: During peak demand times, each piece of equipment is limited to 30
minutes per member.
*Capacity: With 29 pieces of C V equipment, 58 members per hour peak capacity
3.Nautilus
*Assumptions: Each member takes 1 minute to complete each exercise. The
machines are set up so members flow through in a sequential manner.
*Capacity: Maximum capacity at a steady state; cycle time 1 minute. 60 members per
hour
Over the three hour peak demand period, the Nautilus area may only process 156
members because it will take 24 minutes for the first member to complete the entire
24 machine cycle.
These three areas of the club are the major areas of concern due to customer
complaints, and they are where students should concentrate their analysis. The tennis
and racquetball areas can service the following number of members per hour:
Tennis:12 members/hour for singles 24 members/hour for doubles
Racquetball:16 members/hour for singles 32 members/hour for doubles
There were no details given in the case to determine the capacity of the free weight
area. So, if we aggregate the individual capacities into an overall measure, the club
can accommodate a peak capacity of 181 to 209

Throughout the history of America s pastime, baseball has continually battled

debate, baseball has lived in a century of turmoil. While many of these scandals
affected multiple players and brought shame to teams, none have affected a single
player more than the 1980 s Pete Rose betting scandal. Aside from the public
humiliation he brought his family and the Cincinnati Reds, nothing has done more to
hurt Pete Rose than his lifetime ban from baseball making him ineligible for hall of

After retiring entirely from baseball both as a manager and as a player, Pete Rose
was believed to have placed bets on multiple baseball games including his Cincinnati
Reds. After investigations by Major League Baseball and the lawyer John M. Dowd,
they were able to discover that Rose had bet on multiple Reds games, but were
unable to discover whether Rose had ever bet against the Reds, like the Black Sox
scandal. With the Commissioner of baseball, Bart Giamatti, pushing the case to
the federal level, Rose and Giamatti came to an agreement which included Rose s
lifetime ban from baseball. During his lifetime ban, Rose came clean stating that
he did bet on the Reds in his autobiography in 2004. Currently, Pete Rose continues
to serve his lifetime ban, hoping to one day manage another team and enter the
hall of fame. Knowing that Pete Rose continues his ban from baseball, we can
begin by looking at the ethical theories which agree with keeping Rose out of the
hall of fame. Egoism, the idea of acting in manner which is best for me, is a theory
which does not lead Rose to the hall of fame. With Egoism we have to look at what
is best for the party in charge and which decision will lead to the best outcome.
With the Pete Rose case we have two parties whose ethical decisions can be
evaluated, MLB and Pete Rose. Clearly Pete Rose can be ignored in the egoistic
analysis, since the decision to place him in the hall of fame

The accent of the dance is matching the lyrics. When the lyrics are fast the
movements are more sharp and controlled, such as when we do the low to high
kick step. When the lyrics slow the movements are slinky, sly and sustained.
Sustained movement are seen when we do the turn to kick. The kick has to be
healed in the air, before lowered to the floor. This creates a connection with the
words and the dance routine. The movements are slow in the verses were more
technique is shown and fast in the choruses were the timing is crucial. The pace of

38. How Did Germany Influence Ww1
Germany s Influence on WWI
German expansionism in the Wilhelmine period contributed greatly to the outbreak
of World War I. Even leading up to that period tensions were rising, with so many
different political groups being formed and with that all the different opinions being
formulated the unification they hoped to fulfill was not carried out. The anticipation
was building for a war to break out and Germany was preparing for it too whether it
was through the building up and upgrades to their nations military. Colonialization
played a role as well in the outbreak in the war as countries wanted to expand their
territories and take control smaller areas as such as the Balkan Peninsula. Finally,
industrialization played a factor as well because manufacturing of weapons and
transportation went up in Germany all in preparation for war.

For example, the biggest key in what started the war was when Austria s Archduke
Franz Ferdinand was assassinated. When this happened Austria immediately turned to
consult with the hot headed Germany in which they handed Austria a blank cheque
and told them they stood behind any decision they made. To me that basically
sounded as though Germany was trying to use Austria as a puppet to start the war
they wanted all along. Also, since Germany was being very lenient on the political
groups power, the groups wound up being able to pressure leaders into positions on
problems the leaders themselves didn t even agree on. Take the German chancellor,
Bethmann Hollweg for example, he was generally known for his peaceful takes on
matters concerning his country, but when the Pan German League and the Central
League of German Industrialists started disagreeing with those views, his takes on
situations became more of those political groups
39. Apex Investment Partners
Introduction: Apex Investment Partners was founded in 1987 by James A. Johnson
and the First Analysis Corporation. In its eight year life, the VC had raised three
funds. The two first which are already closed had, together, a committed capital of
around $70M. There were mainly concentrated in four areas: Telecommunication,
information technology and software. Environmental and industrial productivity
related technologies. Consumer products and specialty retail. Health care and related
technologies. Usually, Apex sought to be the leading investor whatever the stage in
order to have one of its representatives join the board of the financed companies.
Furthermore, Apex pursues to balance its investments between start up and... Show

In a first step we have to postulate when the successful exit is going to happen.
Normally this period is assumed to be between 3 and 7 years long. In our case, we
make the assumption that a successful exit is going to happen in 1999. Since we
are only concerned about the successful scenario, we go along with the projection
of AccessLine, which is probably overoptimistic, and use its expected revenue of
208M at the time the exit happens. After the IPO, we presume the company will
grow at a high rate for the next five years in the 75 percentile as proposed by
Metrick, Andrew and Ayako Yasuda in their Venture Capital and the Finance of
innovation book. We chose five years since the typical firm reaches maturity
within five years after the IPO. Besides, we assume a tax rate of 30.64% given by
the industry average (Damodaran 2013). As a discount rate, we use simply the
industry average. Alternatively, we could use the Betas of the comparable
companies. This gives us an unlevered average beta of 0.5*(1.39+2.03) since both
companies are completely equity financed. The risk free rate was given by 7.1%,
if we assume a risk premium of 5.79% (Damodaran for 1.4.13) we get a cost of
capital of 16.9% using the CAPM equation. Because we only have two comparable
companies we opt to do our calculations with the industry wide average discount rate.
The operating margin at the exit date is estimated in a way that we reach a Net
40. Movie Animism Essay
One of the more common worldviews prevalent in today s society, is animism.
This is also a great cause for concern to Christians because this worldview stands as
a sizable threat to the one truth we know; which is that Jesus is the only God who
has ultimate power over everything. Animism is the belief that any material or
object can take on the attribute of a soul. This means that plants, animals,
inanimate objects, and even natural occurrences can become alive, have
personalities, and can control things. Throughout this paper, I will be analyzing
the different scenes that exhibit the animistic worldview from some of movies
directed by Hayao Miyazaki, a famous creator and director of over a dozen
Japanese animated movies. Almost every one of Hayao Miyazaki s movies share
the similar worldview of animism. The movies that will be specifically focused on
include Spirited Away, Howl s Moving Castle, and My Neighbor Totoro. Each film
contains different... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In fact, it is a more commonly believed worldview that is spreading to more than
just the assumed group of people, in other words, the tribal nations. It is being
followed by the people we come across in our day to day lives. Halverson states in his
article that in general, most world religions have a concept of God that makes Him
out to be distant, abstract, and unknowable , and lists Hinduism as an example of this
(Animism: The Religion of the Tribal World). Because these people put God at a far
away distance, they then turn to spirits as a means to fill that God void. It is an
apparently easy choice to turn to, when people feel like God is too far away to be
bothered with everyone. Animism has also become a more common worldview over
the past few years in the practice of meditation. According to Gailyn Van Rheenen,
who is an expert on animistic religions, estimated back in 1996 that about 40% of the
world s population followed an animistic worldview (Halverson,

of the following structures as possible: periosteum, compact bone, endosteum and
bone marrow. Make a sketch of the diaphysis in the Lab Report and label the
structures you identified.
Questions
A. How does the femur of the skeletal model compare to the diagrams in your
textbook or this manual?
B. Using your chicken bone, how does the texture of articular cartilage (or hyaline
cartilage) compare to that of periosteum? Note: Articular cartilage (made of hyaline
cartilage) is found on the ends of the bones. It absorbs compression and allows for
smooth movement. Articular cartilage is firm but elastic with a pearly bluish color,
early in life the periosteum is thick and vascular but later on in life it thins out.
C. What is the function of spongy bone? Spongy bone contains bone marrow where
red blood cells are produced.
D. What makes compact bone
42. Parviz Amin Quotes
Imagine that one day you had to leave behind everything you ve ever know. You
had to leave your family and your country because it was slowly falling apart and
you had no idea if you would ever get to see it again. How would you react? In the
novel Septembers of Shiraz this is exactly the situation Parviz Amin is dealing with.
His homeland, the country of Iranhas been overtaken by a group called the
Revolutionary guards. This group hates anyone and everyone who supported or
was related to the Shah which was the previous ruler of the country. It just so
happens Parviz s father meets that description and eventually is arrested by the same
group for being suspected of being a zionist spy. Parviz has to deal with all of this all
the way on the opposite side of the globe in New York Cityalong with his own issues
of just starting out his college life. His negative attitude about this whole situation
definitely isn t helping either. Parviz s pessimistic attitude and lack of beliefs
causes a strongly negative affect on his situation and his daily life. Parviz Amin is
a young adult starting college in New York City which is almost on the opposite
side of the world from his homeland of Iran. He is alone and staying with a strict
Jewish family called the Mendelsons who are very kind and understanding towards
him yet this doesn t stop their difference in viewpoints from interfering with their
relationship. It is shown clearly in the novel that Parviz isn t very interested in
religion which ends up preventing him from really interacting with The
mendelson s in the way they would like to. This is shown here when they ask
Parviz to join them in celebrating a Jewish holiday, He tells himself that no matter
how lonely he gets, he will not go so far as to persecute himself by sitting at their
table, celebrating a day that to him is no different than any other day (Sofer, 42).
Parviz shows many signs of loneliness throughout the book just like in this part but
the fact he doesn t realize is that he is the cause of all his loneliness. If he had
overlooked the fact it wasn t his religion and bonded with the family anyway he
would not be lonely. Not only does he almost force himself to be lonely he also feels
that his
43. Salomon V Salomon And The Legal Entity
Salomon Doctrine According to Companies Act 2006, once incorporated a company
have its own legal personality. By all means, it is separated from its shareholders or
directors. The separate legal entity principle is well known and causes many debates.
Throughout the years the fundamental doctrine established by the historical case
Salomon v Salomon went through many subsequent developments. Since the
enactment of Limited Liability Act 1855, the case was the first that explored the
effects of the separate legal entity. At first instance and Court of Appeal the Salomon
s appeal was rejected, therefore the company was an agent. The reasoning of trial
judge, Vaughan Williams J concluded that Salomon was an agent of a company that
was formed... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The key problem was that according to Otto Kahn Freund the courts had failed to
give ... protection to the business creditors , which is the result of the principle.
Limited liability is an instrument that basically encourages the process of
development of the economy. Lack of limiting the liability, the risks of investing
would be significantly higher and the obligations will expand. The separation of the
corporate entity, is a protection and overall, without its establishment the results will
be lower activity in the entire economy. However, on the creditors point of view
regarding the liability, there is a restriction of the assets and they cannot exceed
company s assets, which in case of wound up the unsecured creditors claims could not
be fully met. Development of the separate legal entity principle Since ninetieth
century, the Salomon principle has been reviewed by series of cases and through its
development, the common law implemented different approaches regarding the
circumstances of upholding the doctrine. Although there are critiques and attempts of
disregarding the principle of corporate personality the courts affirmed the Salomon
doctrine. Except the common law there are also statutory exception and it should be
also noted that in certain circumstances such as disclosure of
