Raja Ram Mohan Roy was a 19th century Indian reformer who was influential in politics, education, and religion. He founded the Brahmo Sabha, which later became the Brahmo Samaj reform movement. Some of his major accomplishments included successfully advocating for banning the practices of sati (widow immolation) and child marriage. He supported Western-style education and founded schools to teach English and science. Raja Ram Mohan Roy is widely considered a major figure in India's renaissance and its modernization.
