3. • Panda live on the
mountains of China
on an altitude of
1.200-3.400 m.
Usually they never
descend to lower
altitude because of
the presence of
humans. that they are
afraid of. They like to
live hidden behind tall
pines, oaks and dense
bamboo.
4. • Pandas, in nature, eat other
plant species, wild tubers, or
even meat in the form of
birds, rodents or carrion. In
captivity (National parks /
zoos), sometimes they eat
honey, eggs, fish, yams, shrub
leaves, oranges or bananas
along with specially prepared
food.
5. ENEMIES
Pandas migrate often following
bamboos. Every 10-100 years,
depending on the type, the forest of
bamboos withers. Then, the Giant
Panda is forced to move deeper into
the forest to search for fresh
bamboos. Forests that remained
extensive offered the opportunity to
pandas to migrate without a
problem. In recent years, however,
the opening of roads and
deforestation for lumber or crops
limited the possibility for
adaptation. So, although there are
many natural enemies, the Giant
Panda is threatened by extinction
due to the disappearance of their
habitat.
