2. COLUGO or KAGWANG
(The Philippine Flying Lemur)
 Not actually fly but glides.
 Arboreal (tree-dwelling)
 Its head resembles to that of a
dog and body to Canadian
Flying Lemur.
 Glide a distance of 100 meters
or more.

5. Panay Cloud Runner
 A nocturnal rodent discovered in
1996.
 A furry creature.
 Lives in tree burrows and dines
on fruits and leaves.

8. Pawikan (The Philippine Sea Turtle)
 A marine patrol creature of the
open sea.
 Feeds on small fishes,
crustaceans and jellyfish.
 Die by eating plastic or balloons.

10. Pawikan (The Philippine Sea Turtle)
 Our country is a home to 4 of
only six pawikan in the world.
 Green Sea Turtle is the most
common species.
 Leatherback is the largest sea
turtle in the country.

 Nocturnal tailless animal that
uses its opposable thumbs and
large toes to anchor itself in
trees.
 It is known for its steady,
deliberate movement along tree
branches

 It is also called chevrotain in other
countries.
 A mouse deer

also be found in the tropical
jungles of South East Asia, Sri
Lanka, and India.

20. Tarsier
 Tree-dwelling
 Extremely long fingers and toes.
 Lives in tropical rainforests and
shrub areas of Bohol and other
areas in the Philippines.
 Feeds primarily on lizards and
insects.

23. Calamian Deer
 A hog deer that is unique of its
kind and endemic in the
Philippines.
 Habitat is in the Calamian Islands,
located in Northern part of
Palawan Province.

25. Orangutan
 A rare ape found only in
Indonesia.
 Endangered because of loss of
habitat due to rampant logging in
Indonesia.

29. Tamaraw
 A species of Mindoro, Philippines.
 A cousin of water buffalo,carabao.
 It is called “Beast of Burden”
 Recognized by its “V” form horn.

31. Binturong (The Palawan Bearcat)
 Is an animal that belongs to the
family of Viverridae commonly
known as civets or the civet cats.
 Mistaken identity neither a bear
nor a cat.
 Palawan, Borneo, Burma,
Vietnam.

33. Panda
 Black and white bear lives in
Southwestern China.
 Tourist in China pay just to hug a
panda.
 Bears can kill.

35. Chinese water deer
 Small deer
 Survives only in Korea and
Central China.

 Relatives of giraffes.
 Found only in the Congo Basin.

39. Freshwater dolphin
 Lives in Yangtze River of China.
 Now threatened by water pollution
and increase numbers of
motorized river vessels.

41. Komodo Dragon
 The world’s largest lizard and
among the oldest surviving lizard.
 Inhabits a small island in eastern
Indonesia.

44. Snow Leopard
 Long been illegally hunted for its
fur.
 Lives in the mountain of
Kazakhstan.

46. Lammergeyer
 Is a huge bird similar to the
vulture.
 Lives in the mountain of Northern
India.

48. Quetzal
 Guatemala’s national bird.

49. Rhinella Yunga
 Leaf patterned toad.
 Discovered in the forest floor of
Peru.

50. Black-tailed antechinus
 Pink nosed rodent.
 Was found in Queensland’s Gold
Coast.
 Considered as sex monster.

53. Pfeffer’s Flamboyant cuttlefish
 Found in Australia and Southeast
Asian Region.
 Only cuttlefish that is toxic.
 Have poison.

55. Ligers
 Rare mix of a male lion and a
female tiger.
 Unhealthy because of their
mismatched lion and tiger genes.
 Prone to blindness, weak hearts,
short life span.

57. Kalangay ( The Philippine Cockattoo)
 Is a lovely Philippine bird because
of it’s snowy white feathers
throughout the body.
 Magnificent and very smart bird
can live up to 50 years.

 Population of Kalangay is
estimated to be in between 1000
to 4000 and now protected in
Subterranean River National Park,
the frontrunners in the quest for
seven natural wonders of the
world.

60. Philippine Eagle (Monkey Eating
Eagle)
 National bird of the Philippines.
 Destruction of natural habitat is
the primary reason why it is close
to extinct.
 Birds reside in Mt. Apo National
Park.
