The Respect Project is an interdisciplinary effort in Kristiansand, Norway to address a small group of recurring young offenders with behavioral disorders. The project aims to prevent crimes, substance abuse, and escapes by establishing cooperation between state and municipal child services. Key participants include police, child services, and experts who meet weekly to analyze problems, interventions, and monitor individual youth. The challenges include coordination between agencies and commitment to long-term interventions. Initial successes include placing some youth far from home and each other, improved understanding between groups, and a calmer situation for the youth.
