Introduction
 The china-Pakistan Economic corridor
(CPEC)is the ongoing development mega
project which aims to connect Gwadar port
In south western Pakistan to China’s north
western region of xinjiang,via a network of
highways,railways and pipeline to transport
oil and gas

relationship
Pakistan and china have been enjoying cordial
and friendly relations since 1950.the first decade
of relations was not as smooth as it were after
1960 especialy after the india china war, and
pakistan india war,the two countries also did not
know much about each other,which hindered their
bilateral cooperation . Fortunately,at that time
foreign minister for foreign affairs,Sir Zafarullah
Khan had some knowledge about chineese
mindset,which paved the way for Pakistan China
relationship
Historical background of Gawadar
 On 8th September 1958,Pakistan purchase
Gwadar enclave from oman for $3 Million
by prince karim Agha khan.
 In 1993, the Govt of Pakistan conceived a plant
to develop Gwadar into a major port city.
 Phase 1 of Gwadar was completed in 2007,and
inaugrated on 20march 2007
Background of CPEC
 The project was proposed by chinese premier LI
Keqiang during his visit to Pakistan in May 2013.
 The Pak china Economic corridor was
inaugrated in islamabad 27 august 2013.
 The vision for the economic corridor stretches far
back as Musharaf era

 To improve lives of people of pakistan and china
by building an economic corridor promoting
bilateral connectivity, constructions ,explore
potential bilateral investment , Economic and
trade,logistics and people to people contact for
regional connectivity

 On 20 April 2015,Pakistan and China signed an
agreement commence work on the $46 billion on
51 projects with approximately $28 billion in
immidiate projects and the rest allocated for
projects in the gas or oil pipeline
